To start I've done business with Nomback Homes and been completely happy with the level of service that I received. This time is completely different though. The entire month of July, I have been trying to work with the service team to get repairs made to my roof due to all the storms that have happened in the Chicago area. They came out and did an emergency typing for me no problems however I was told that I would have a handheld service to help me navigate the claims process with my insurance company. That was a lie. I have now been calling Nomback Homes the entire month of July and gotten no assistance. I have left multiple messages and gotten no follow up phone call. At this point, I would not recommend anyone doing any business with Nomback Homes since customer follow up does not seem to be a priority. read more

Nombach replaced our roof and we couldn't be happier with the service we received. From the beginning Jack Weber came out to inspect the roof, explain our options, and give us detailed information on every aspect of the roof replacement. Jack answers all questions to our satisfaction and he didn't rush us to make our decisions. In the office Bob was helpful scheduling the date for our roof replacement and arranging the final payment. On roof replacement day the team arrived when expected and got right to work. They protected our landscape, and before we knew it they were done. The roof looks great! I ultimately didn't hire this company, so I can't attest to the quality of their work, but the preliminary estimating and project discussion gave me pause. So I'm splitting the difference and rating them a neutral-ish 3/5. Pluses: * Their estimator was very thorough and friendly. * They provided proof of insurance. * They really emphasized doing everything to city code. * Their office contacted me in advance of the estimate to get some details and talk over the intended work. Minuses: * They quoted me a price that was **double** that of the other companies I contacted, all of whom were within a narrow price brand. This was concrete step work and I can only assume that some of the extra amount was for mudflapping that might not only have been unnecessary but also harmful to my house's old foundation, such as doweling a bunch of rods into it. * Although the new steps would've been of different dimensions than the old ones, they didn't mention having to extend and re-weld the costly (and cracking) wrought iron guardrails, which would've been inevitable. * They made a big deal about how Chicago city permits would push back the project timeline even though a permit isn't required for the type of work I requested. * They tried out some high-pressure sales tactics like promising a modest discount if I decided on them before the weekend was over. * The initial good communication changed into some odd-hour texting with the estimator about minor details, plus some bureaucratic delays. Anyway, my advice is to ask about their prices right away before their estimator eats up an hour-plus of your time (this is another respect in which they're unusual compared to other concrete contractors) or at least get several other quotes before deciding (as you should be doing anyway) because they seem like an outlier there. Maybe their work is immaculate but I didn't have the budget to find out. read more

I had water coming through my daughter's window and after having a few friends look at it, I decided to call a professional company. After heavy research, I called Nombach. GEORGE came out and looked over my roofing, windows, and siding. He related back to me that I needed to get a new roof. My roof is 7 years old. I thought, why would I need a new roof? He explained that there were a few construction errors. He was extremely professional and explained everything in detail to help me understand. Naturally, I had to get another opinion. So, after more heavy research for the best siding and roofing, I ended up calling more than 6 other professional companies with good reviews. This was in a span of 3-4 weeks of contractors coming to my house. Some companies had one opinion while others had a different one. GEORGE was the only person out of all the companies that followed up with me and would explain everything in detail. I even told him what other companies said and he proved them wrong with experience and training. He would show me photos of house structures and explain why I needed certain things. I ended up deciding on Nombach to handle the construction and it was the best decision I could've made. George went above and beyond to answer any questions I had. The workers that did the construction were JEREMY and RYAN. They were extremely professional, reliable and their work was impeccable. I called Nombach because I had a rental property with a severely damaged roof, they came out gave us our options and we decided to go with a full tear-off. I'm glad we did because the wood in several places was damaged. The work was done in a timely matter, they cleaned up debri and left my roof amazing. Submitted a online request for an estimated and never heard back. Called a few months later to schedule and my info was in the system. The associate referenced I received an estimate but that was not the case. Made an appointment and provided an email, cell and home number. The day of I received a called but missed it. When I called the number back "George" stated since he didn't hear back from me the appointment was cancelled. He claims a text and email was sent and I told him that I didn't receive either. Contractors in all of Chicago could use some communication skills and improvements, but these folks really take the cake. I'm better off going up there myself and patching with rubberized cement from Lowe's. It will deal with the problem better and fast and cheaper than this company, who fix everything but the problem. read more

A predatory salesman from Nombach sweet-talked my sister in-law into signing a contract for almost $3000, for 203 square feet of rudimentary, mostly ground-level tuckpointing. Three Home Depot-parking-lot-type guys slapped a bunch of mortar on her building and were gone in 3 hours. No scaffolding, no grinding, no brick replacement and no mercy. When I called them on it, they eventually knocked off 10%, basically admitting that their guy had ripped her off. Still outrageously expensive for the work that was performed. Zero stars. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Mark, and I can't say enough good things. My partner and I own 6 multi-family properties, so I deal with a lot of contractors. I'm constantly dealing with no-shows, having to follow up a million times, contractors using jargon with me so it's difficult for me to understand what's actually going on - you name it. From my very first call to Nombach, I heard from Mark within 24 hours and he let me know he would be coming to my place within 2 days. He arrived on time and was able to assist with my issue on the spot. He explained everything thoroughly and in a way I could understand it, and he was very honest in discussing the state of our roof. I have tried to use this company for about the last 3 years. Their customer service is absolutely atrocious. I had to damn near beg one of the representatives to call me back for a period of weeks. I left several voicemails and gave my contact info. I never received a call back. I again tried to use them this year for a free estimate on my roof, which I was told they were able to do. When I got the call from their office, the person I spoke to on the phone wasn't the most pleasant and hung up without a proper goodbye. He also asked questions that were irrelevant to the job I needed them to, which I didn't appreciate. Prior to him hanging up though, he told me it would cost $185.00 for them to come out. They installed my gutters on the side of my house and 18 months later, they had a great fall ( like Humpty Dumpty just in case you didn't get the reference) the wood is splintered because of old wood and I have a daily fight with rodents coming through where the gutters fell. I feel cheated and very unhappy and the only solution they had was to charge me to fix the bad job they did to begin with. read more

Totally disappointed. Called to company on a Tuesday, received message the following week, was told I would get phone call following day- ummmm it's 4 days later and no phone call? I called to office and the young lady was totally nice and said this is not how they do business, so she would check who took my call and have them call me back. I liked that they texted me and emailed quotes.. no getting on phone to hear one sentence or waiting for a snail mail paper quote. When I purchased my home YEARS ago, they installed my new roof. I can't remember who recommended them. When they replaced my entire roof, the crew arrived on time and work efficiently until the end of the job. At the close of the job, they cleaned everything. I did not see traces of them being at my house. My neighbors complimented how well they did the job and the clean-up. So naturally when I had a small leak in the roof, I called them. They immediately responded. Due to COVID there was a wait. I expected that, however, they kept in constant contact. The weather was a challenge, scheduling me was also a challenge, along with my travel, but I trust them. When I was put on the schedule, they called. Again, I didn't know they were at my house. The work was done with excellence and so was the clean-up. I live in the Roseland area and have definitely recommended them to all my neighbors. I recently called to have estimate for bay window roof and flashing repair due to water leaking through ceiling. Estimator came ACTING professionally showing all licenses and credentials. I never received an estimate for all that he stated was causing my leaks.. I called several times and was told the estimator would get back to me which never happened. Based on other reviews, I believe they weed out the jobs they want and those they don't, however, they should have the professional courtesy of letting the consumer know where they stand. I really can't think of a way Nomach could have been a better vendor. I got a prompt reply to my email, and one of the owners came out to my house exactly when he said he would. I discussed my needs with him and he came up with options for an ideal roof replacement and an excellent but more affordable option. He didn't blink when I chose the less expensive option. it included some fixes on the gutter and some vents, all of it itemized. I didn't have an emergency situation, so I was happy to set a date 3 or so weeks away, but when a break in the weather afforded an early roofing date, Nombach called. We ended up with a new roof five days later. The roofers themselves were polite, conversant, CLEAN, quick, cheerful and effective. Boy scouts couldn't have done better. There are a lot of bad reviews for this company so in case people with good experiences aren't coming here to leave reviews I thought I'd share my experience. The person who gave me a quote was extremely thorough and friendly. I appreciated this because I had gotten quotes from other people who just drove by my house when I wasn't home and just called me with a quote with no regard to even meeting me or other people who gave absurdly low or high quotes that made no sense. My quote from Nombach seemed fair and was explained to me, in fact I went up and looked at it with him and saw where my roof was basically just mud in spots. The time between the quote/signed contract and getting the roof and soffit done was longer than I wanted, but everyone was doing home improvement during COVID summer and I didn't have any leaks so it was a priority but not urgent. My roof was done in 2 days and my soffit was done in one day about a week later. I got up on the roof a couple times to see what was being done and took pics the whole way through. I liked my soffit foreman and crew better than the roof foreman. I paid exactly what the contract said and I got affordable financing which was really helpful since I underestimated the cost! I'm paying $223 a month for a new roof instead of coming out of pocket with $15K. I would work with them again and hope to now that I've seen their work. Extremely happy costumer! I called in on a Monday for a consultation on a roof leak and possibility for replacing my gutters on my home. I received a return call by Wednesday and had a scheduled meeting that same week. Once the salesman looked at my damage and assessed pricing and timing for this work to be completed he quoted what I thought to be a very good deal and we scheduled for the work to begin! Within two weeks my house needs were assessed, quoted and the work was complete. Cliff came out gave me several options repair vs replace, replace all vs Some. loved having options! Replaced 1/2 the roof - showed up on time- no mess- like they were never there - except that the roof is fixed! 2) had flashing blow off of 3 story condo building, not a big job - so most companies won't touch it! I didn't need a full roof replacement, but had enough that needed to get done that would have still been a hefty bill with installation of windows, skylights, etc. It must have not been a big bill for this company because they never called back or followed up.
