A decent company would try to correct the awful job you have done. i don't expect you to understand what it means for me to have WASTED my money and trusted a company that did poor work. i am hiring another company to fix what you did poorly. ALSO to ask for the FINAL PAYMENT IN CASH $5,000 to get a 2% discount was also awful. I Called The Alderman's Office. You then allowed me to write a check. Got an unsolicited letter from them today with pictures of my roof and chimney claiming repairs are needed. I called them and asked them if they went on my property. They said no and said they are using drones over the street and it was legal. I told them to stop. Feeling very violated. read more

Omg!!! They are the best. Great customer service . Excellent prices! Outstanding work! I received anout 6 estimates on my chimney repair project. I knew I needed tuck-pointing, a liner and cap. Three of the estimates offered told me I only needed tuck-pointing and I was quoted pricing from $800 to$1500. Amateurs. They were good at what they did, the cosmetic aspect but not at chimney chimney knowledge and upkeep. The other 3 told me what I knew and more. They knew what they were talking about. The price range was from $1500 to $7000. And the highest amounts were to rebuild my chimney. I knew it didn't need that extreme of a measure. Sp I chose Cahill. And I'm not disappointed at all. I'm elated and so glad. They did a fantastic job, and also worked in a timely manner. And they left their work areas spotless. Cleaner than when they came. The company is disappointing. They never called me to tell me that they were running late for the initial consultation. I finally called 30 minutes after the appointment time to only be told " They are running behind and it would be an additional 20 minutes". They were not professional enough to call me and say is it okay, because I am running behind schedule. I was already Leary because of some of Cahill Roofing's bad reviews. I had work down spring of 2020. They did a beautiful job on my concrete driveway and walkway, but the locking sand they used to restore my slate walk began crumbling in 6 months and is a mess now. I called two times and didn't get a response from the first. Second time They sent Marty Cahill to talk to me about it and he told me I should have never had locking sand used, that the whole walkway needed a new foundation to prevent water from getting through. And when I said " but this is what Ryan recommended you do" he ignored that and kept talking like it was my fault to have picked this. AND he accused me of bringing a law suit! Ridiculous and Extremely frustrating. He offered no remedy OR refund. Quite disappointing given their other work. read more

We needed some tuckpointing repairs done on our garage and sides of our house. They came out quickly for the estimate and scheduled the repairs a couple weeks out. The work they did was satisfactory, but we had some issues still, so that overall we weren't thrilled. Then, when it comes to communicating with this company, good luck. They don't call you back, if you click the website link here in Yelp you'll notice that they don't even own that domain name anymore so there is no website. Communicating with them, organizing a plan, getting a clear line of communication about what was going to be done and when...it was a nightmare. This is not a business they're running. This company is a joke! I'd asked them to come out to the property for an estimate on tuck pointing. Someone came out and looked at the work involved. However, they never follow up with the estimate. I called them 4 days later to get the estimate and they said they'll send it out soon. It has been over 3 weeks and no estimate. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!! The crew who did my roof, windows & doors was very professional and fast. They cleaned up all the debris that naturally falls when removing old shingles and the work was great. I even had them tuckpoint my chimney and they made it beautiful again. It was a hot mess! I can't say enough good about them. read more

Well, the first time they came out, the guy parked in front of the building and then walked around the building, got back in the car and left. The second time, the owner (Matt or Mark) came out. He checked out the roof and quoted a price. Said he would draw up a contract and email it. Waited almost 4 weeks for said contract. Called back and the girl said they had no info on the building. She told me she would look into it. Still nothing and called back. They told me once again that they would send someone out at a specific time and day. Well, we waited at said time and date and guess what? No call and no show. So unprofessional. Take your business elsewhere to a company that actually wants to work. read more

They sent a crew out on short notice even during the COVID-19 issue. We had leaks in our roof and they where able to patch it temporary. We then got a quote for the complete repair and it was MORE than fair. Keep in mind all of this was done during the pandemic. I could not be more happy with there service. read more

My mom went through her insurance and they sent out these bombs. Whatever you do don't go with them. They are unprofessional, work is terrible and customer service is atrocious. They took forever to finish weeks to be exact and they left holes in my gazebo from the bricks dropping from the chimney. they blamed the weather. They didn't want to pay for the damages they caused. Will never do business with them again and will warn people to stay away... I wish I could leave 0 stars. Very disappointed. read more

Came across Cahill as they did work on my neighbors house. Asked if they could stop over and look at our chimney when they were done. They said they didn't have permission from their boss and would have to come by some other time. After several calls and 3 failed appointments someone finally came out. He gave an estimate and said he would send us a contract. That was over two weeks ago and we haven't seen or heard a word from them. What we have heard is from our neighbor who was horribly upset about how bad her roof is leaking where they were suppose to have repaired it. read more

I called CA Hill and made an appointment for a roofing estimate more than a week in advance. The day of the appointment I received a call from them cancelling my appointment and rescheduling for a few days later. The person shows up as scheduled for the second appointment but had a malfunction with his equipment. He then promised to call and return the next day. It is now a week later and I have not heard from that gentleman or anyone else at CA Hill building and roofing. Perhaps he did not believe that I could afford the cost for repairs. Whatever the reason may have been, it was very "unprofessional". If you can't trust the word of a company, you can't trust them to do business with. Please do not use this builder, Cahill is not a reliable contractor. I went through the process of hiring this company to perform masonry work on my home. I was having brick work replace on my hone. I went through the process of selecting the color of brick and during all the necessary work by getting the permits only to have the contractor, fail to show up for the schedule appointment to perform the work, this happen five times during this summer beginning in June. I terminated the contract and all affiliation with Cahill on September 30, 2019 after waiting all summers to get the work done. In hine site it was probably the best for me, if you have a contractor that cant keep his promise his work is probably very poor, I dodge a bullet. read more

In the words of the kid's book, "Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad" experience. I initially received an advertisement from Cahill about work they had done in my area and surrounding areas. I was impressed by the aerial pics they had taken of "trouble spots" on my home and knew these were things that were on my ongoing "To Do" list. So I gave them a call. Marty, the owner, was quite helpful and came right out to give me a quote and possible start dates. They started immediately. There were quite a few things on the punch list and I wanted them all done. Chimney tuckpointing, front façade tuckpointing, new concrete steps, railings power blasted and repainted, caulking around the perimeter of the house, new concrete walkway and metal piece underneath bay window to allow for proper draining. All that being said and done, the ONLY thing that was done to satisfaction was the new railing...and that's because it was sent out to another company to refinish. Other than that, I feel like everything else needed to be free! The work started on time the 1st day and after that it was hit or miss. The chimney and tuckpointing workers were fast and efficient, but day two up until today when I finally gave them the payment it was and has been disastrous. My steps were and are the BIGGEST failure ever. They were cracking at the surface around the edge and discolored and I was told, "It takes a while to dry." There is still discoloration which is awkwardly shameful. How do I get new steps and within hours they were crumbling at the base? I'm no Rocket Scientist but I know that's not supposed to happen. The fact that the owner, his son and several other crews had to come out to fix the problem (which STILL isn't fixed) is baffling. I was told that one of the workers was fired because of the work done on my home (steps), but that still doesn't satisfy me nor change the look of my steps. Marty went on to say how they sent 100s of dollars on extra material to redo the steps but it seems as though I need to be credited the 1,000s of dollars I spent on them. They left the gray, tacky tape plastered over my home on the door, windows, siding, etc and never came to remove until I called to complain. Concrete was splattered about and again had to be reminded to come clean up and remove from the brick. I swear they called 3-4 a day to collect payment yet had not finished all the work. It was always that same excuse, "Let me get back to you with that...that should have been done that by now..." etc. It was a joke! After the final item was completed, they called and emailed multiple times a day asking for payment. I waited weeks in between little jobs done here and there from them and I refused to go out of my way and expedite payment. When I wrote the check, the owner's daughter came out to give me a receipt and asked if I was pleased. The ONLY words I could possibly and professionally utter were, "No Comment!" There's NO way I can possibly fit all the dissatisfaction on this site, but trust me, it's been a horrible experience. Save yourself the headache and find another company! read more

Cahill did the same thing to my mother. They did get as far as sending out a contract. No follow-up. Told my mom they would schedule her, but did not call back. She called and they told her they were waiting for a part-for a roof! Some people do not want to make money. Must be nice to have that luxury to turn down work. I chose them because, after getting a few estimates, Cahill was the most impressive. They were not the cheapest, but they were very close to a few other companies. Their guy came and out had much knowledge about the work I was interested in having done and gave me a great sample book of shingles. I really love the sample book. No other company provided samples. They gave me a written estimate with a breakdown of how much each job would cost. Other companies only provided me with a total cost. I want to know what I'm paying for! Especially if I needed to break up the work. The girls in the office are great. Very nice and helpful. Any questions I had along the way were answered very quickly and professionally. Any concerns I had were remedied quickly. Cahill also let me make payment arrangements for after the work was completed. I had four jobs done from Cahill - my house and garage roof shingles replaced, two flat roofs repaired and replaced, fascia replaced on my garage, and my chimney repaired. All workers cleaned up at the end of each day. No nails or debris were left in my yard or driveway. read more

We need to have our home tuckpointed and all over our neighborhood we see signs for Cahill Building so I called to set up an appointment. The agreed upon time was 4:00pm one day last week. I received a call from Marty at 11:15am that morning asking to come to the house earlier than 4:00. I was at work and unable to answer my phone. When I saw the missed call, I listened to the voicemail and sent a text back stating that my husband and I were at work but he could come as early as 2:30 when my husband would be home. Then at 4:51pm I received another call from Marty stating (with an attitude in his voice) that he was at our home in the morning and no one was there. He asked that I call the office which I did. The woman stated that Marty does not accept text messages and that she would let him know that I called. We never heard back from Marty and we have had two other estimates in the meantime. When Marty was at our home, why didn't he look around and at least start an estimate, all the work is on the exterior and it's pretty straight forward what is needed. So, possible business lost, we have hired another contractor. read more

We used Cahill for our chimney a year ago and were pleased with the results and service. When it came time to do our roof they were one of our first choices. Never again. These are people who DO NOT care about the client. They started work on a Monday with a full crew. Tuesday brought two men who worked for a couple hours. We were told by the owner that it would be finished the next day. Next day and for the next week--nobody. Repeated calls to the company brought the answer of "You're on the list for today" or "Tomorrow". They finally showed up a week later to finish. When we went onto the roof the next day we saw shoddily applied flashing around the chimney, reused vent pipe boots, and exposed nails. The result was so-so at best. In addition, despite the fact that Cahill did indeed obtain a permit as required by the municipality, it appeared to be quite a hassle to them to actually bring it with them when they started work. They finally brought it the second day after repeated requests. Finally, when it came time to pay they SAID they sent an invoice along with a warranty in the mail. It never arrived. Less than two weeks after the job was "finished" we sent the payment. In the meantime they called repeatedly leaving messages to call them but saying nothing else except "how was the inspection?". Finally we received an email admitting they were calling about getting paid. Why did they think we wouldn't pay? read more

I enjoyed the quality of their work so much that I brought them on to do a large remodeling job in my home. I was more then pleased with the results. Marty Cahill really knows his stuff! I have been getting estimates for my 4 flat in Portage Park for years! Some of the guys were all over the place, others just middle men jacking up the prices so they could make money for giving an estimate. When Marty came last year, you were talking to the boss, and it was clear from the beginning that he wanted to get the job done for the best possible price. His ideas were different than any others, but they made allot of sense. When his guys came to the site, they were curteous and respectful. They did anything they could to make me feel important and every request was fulfilled doing little things that didn't take long, but made a difference. On top of all this, Marty trusted me and didn't take a penny until the jobs was complete to my satisfaction. I rate these guys as exemplary and distinguished, and to top it off, they are coming back this year free of charge to check their work. read more
