I could not be happier with having these guys do work on my unit. I will explain exactly what happened and why! In the midst of redoing my kitchen on top of about 8-month old hardwood floors there was a pretty massive flood in my condo. About 1000 feet of wood needed to be ripped up leaving an exposed rough, uneven, nail filled concrete sub-floor. I was faced with either getting new wood floors or something else- I went polished concrete. I solicited a few quotes, but ultimately went with CDC due to Chris and his honesty about the job from the start. Their price was fair, they seemed better in my mind- I was right. On time they came in, their crew performed the work quickly. They helped me carry last things off my floor to prep it (not in contract scope) and explained a detailed timeline and what I could expect. Noise, dust, accidental spatter were assumed on my part. Sure, there was dust from concrete grinding, but how could there not be? Anyway- within less than one week from a hellish debacle and not knowing how it would turn out I love my floors. They look great- I have no complaints thus far after a few weeks. The finish looks good, and the attention to detail (they had to pour under cabinets and up to carpeted stairs and to many closet entrances) was superior. Jake (the foreman) ran a tight ship and had his guys cleaning up every aspect of community (condo halls) property after the whole gig was completed. In all, the price was fair. The guys were great. In short I would NOT recommend Chicago Decorative Concrete. Chris came out and I showed him the floor in the office NEXT door and asked if they could do the same. A simple concrete overlay with minimal natural texture. Here is what transpired next. Floor #1- Day one none of the equipment was working (grinder and vacuum). the job was to be 3.5 days and already would be 2 days over due. The 1st floor had lots of "fan" pattern texture. Clearly Chris had not told Jake and the team what I wanted. 20ft away was a whole office with what I was wanting. ** Not listening to customer wants/needs Floor #2- Jake was nice and agreed with Chris to redo the floor using a different material. This batch was "bad" and was overstock from another job. Fair enough, they have to buy minimum amounts. They agreed to redo it a third time. ** Poor material management. Floor #3- Floor was better but had HUGE swirl marks and major color contrast issues in 3-4 areas. Basically the whole floor was grey and in 4 spots there was dark grey swirls and drips. At this point I was fine to let it go. Not what I really wanted, but was willing to move on. ** Was not honest about what they can actually do. The breaking point issue was with the clear top coat. Jake and crew put down the clear coat and I paid the remainder thinking all would be ok. Jake agreed on a discounted price as the job took weeks to finish instead of the agreed upon 3-4 days. ** DO NOT pay until the final coat is FULLY DRY! However, the top coat dried with white spots and roller marks all over. I called/text to tell them how it dried and that it did not look like anything we agreed upon. In short, after another couple of weeks going back and forth they said I had to pay the FULL amount if I wanted them to come back out and redo the top coat as per our agreement. ** At the end of the day they DO NOT CARE about their customers if the cost of THEIR mistakes are too high. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They were hired to do a 1600 sq. ft. driveway for my home. First they attempted to perform the work without being registered through the village of New Lenox. I found this out when I went to go get the permit! 8 months after installation. I have 70 locations (and counting) (holes/flaking/scaling) throughout my driveway, 1/2" to ¾" deep, ranging from 1/2" to 4" in width. They rushed the job from the beginning. The concrete delivery was over 2 hours late. Rather than turn the truck away. they proceeded to try and complete a 1600 sq. ft. stamped and dyed driveway in less that a 2 hour window! They were performing this work into the night hours with no light! There are areas all over where the stamping was not fully set, or stepped on because they could not see! I now have a dark stripe down the middle of my driveway that has been there since the day it was completed. I also now have sealer failure. It is affecting the overall driveway color and there are marks everywhere from the roller application. They do not return phone calls. After multiple attempts to contact a appointment was scheduled to come to my home. No show for the appointment. No call. I will eventually have my day in court. read more

I recently had CDC do a floor for a lounge I opened in Bucktown and have to say I could not be more thrilled that I found Chris and team and had them do the finish. Not only did they work under extremely tight deadlines and come in under budget, the floor is absolutely LIGHTS OUT gorgeous! Not sure what to actually make of the whole experience. I did a request online and was called promptly by Chris. He was very nice over the phone and setup an appointment to come by for an estimate. He emailed me the morning of the scheduled appointment saying he couldn't make it. I understand stuff happens, so no problem, we rescheduled. He then no showed to the appointment that he rescheduled and didn't reply to my emails or calls from that day when I drove home from work to wait for him during the day. Later in the week I called and he apologized saying traffic was bad but promised to come out. When he finally came by I was impressed with his knowledge and options he presented on our concrete project. He definitely had the most creative and versatile choices compared to other companies I have spoken with. After he left I felt like the visit made up for the prior issues. I waited about a week and a half to hear about the next steps after him coming by but I didn't have any contact. When I emailed him he replied back talking about the drive to my place and nothing about the project. I would have been fine if he originally said Lakeview in Chicago was too far for him but instead we went through all this time to be told sorry its hard to drive to. read more

My husband and I hired Chicago Decorative Concrete to redo the concrete around our house and create a patio in our back yard. We had them do stamped concrete. The finished product looked great, until a few months went by. Less than four months later, we noticed that the seal coating was flaking and some of the concrete was already chipping and cracking. We called them and were told they would be out to look at the damage. They no-showed several appointments. It has been almost a year since the work was done. They have been unresponsive to texts and phone calls for the better part of the past four months. Their guarantee is a joke. If they stood by their product and work, they would make time to look at the damage and fix it. Do NOT use this company. read more

I have used Chicago Concrete twice now at my home. Once for my exterior driveway and the other for my basement. My driveway was in bad shape and I didn't want to have the expense of tear out and replace. Chris and his guys were able to incorporate the cracks into a pattern and make it appear new! Chris also cleaned up my basement concrete and applied a decorative epoxy coating. Highly recommend! read more

Chris came in well under the other quote I was provided and was able to schedule quickly.
