The Noodle House, in many ways, has a lot in common with the studio apartment masquerading as a two-bedroom. There is a conspicuous lack of storage. Boxes sit on empty stools near the front and the bar, which could be occupied by noodle-loving patrons, has instead sacrificed itself to an eclectic lineup of water pitchers, condiment jars and half-filled Skippy containers. There is also a serious problem with responsibility delegation. Shortly after arriving it became clear to me that only one young woman was available to a.) clear and clean the tables b.) greet incoming patrons and c.) serve them both drinks and food. This means that the same hands being used to remove food debris and used dishes from stations were also employed in bringing our noodles to our table. Let's be clear: I'm normally not too much of a stickler when it comes to things like food workers wearing gloves, etc. So long as cooks wash their hands and servers/waiters do the same, my OCD is usually kept at bay. Given that this unfortunate employee was seemingly handling money, drinks, cleaning agents, food, and dirty dishes all at the same time, however, even my dormant compulsions began to awaken. Service, predictably, was a bit lacking. The above employee was unsmiling, visibly stressed, and late to our table. The vegetarian spring rolls tasted rather uninspired; the tofu inside had some decent flavor but the substitution of flat rice noodles for vermicelli sacrificed some of the delicacy I usually seek in this basic appetizer. The lettuce used was rather tough, tasting like the bagged romaine one finds at FoodMaxx and the like. The soup was not bad, though- they gave us plenty of noodles and broth and lots of fresh cilantro to boot. The broth lacked the spicy nuttiness that I usually desire in my pho and the waiter unfortunately did not ask if I wanted my brisket rare (it came very well done) but this was quickly mitigated by the sriracha on hand. The coffee boba drink was frosty and delicious and the tea was both plentiful and piping hot. Overall the Noodle House has a lot of work to do if it intends to stay competitive; now that boba tea houses are a lot more common and Americans have developed a taste for pho, these guys will need both an interior face lift as well as a menu update if they don't want to remain a two-star joint forever. read more

Been here many times since it's the closest noodle place to my in-laws. I've tried their seafood pho and was not a happy camper. I was jealous of my hubby's order of the combination house chow mein. While trying to flavor my soup up and sprinkle the sparse cilantro served, I couldn't help but enjoy the aroma of my hubby's noodles. I asked him if I could taste and he shared several bites with me. Once he was full, he pushed his plate aside with some noodles left on it. I looked at him and asked if he was done. I pushed my soup aside and finished his leftover noodles (I think he played like he was full knowing that I liked his order better than mine). I'm usually very fond of pho, but not at this place. I told myself that the next time we come here, I'd order the chow mein; and so I did. It has this pan fried taste that I like. It's egg noodles with some sprouts, pork, chicken, and shrimp. I asked them to cook it with extra garlic and that's how I've been ordering ever since. Then you add some siracha and sprinkle some lemon and it's perfect! I personally haven't tried and of their rice plates. I've tried their green papaya salad and it was good and I've had a few of their boba drinks and they're the norm. Their thai iced tea is served with crushed ice -- it's not how I would prefer the ice because it waters down the drink. The place is a dive filled with knick knacks on the counters, 2 tables used for their personal uses i.e. to eat, to play on their lap tops, stack their newspapers. Their prices could be a little less (the combination house chow mein is $7.95 - they could add more noodles for that price). The servers/owners are VERY friendly and I appreciate that they remember returning customers. read more

They are under new ownership. The food was at very best just standard and they could not for any reason understand the idea of serving an egg over easy. I explained and explained and explained and received two eggs cooked hard. I found my food to be greasy and the rest of the food to be lacking in flavor. The Boba drinks tasted artificial and the little balls were stuck together and burn from cooking. I have been a customer here for the past couple year, there have always been disappointment but i tend to just ignore it. It is the closes noodle/pho place to me so I do run here to grab some food when im to tired too cook. Today around noon I brought my in laws in to eat and this is about the worst experience ever and I would no longer return now. They were replacing their fridge in the kitchen and they did this during open hours which shouldve been done when the restaurant is close, they have half there table and chairs bundled up together in one area but because my in laws were in a rush to get home and on a time set so we decided to sit down and order. The girl took forever to take orders, and than made my mil drink horribly, she wanted a ice mocha with boba to go and unfortunately when the girl brought the drink(which she wasnt suppose to until we were going to go)to the table my mil drink had big huge ice that was not crush throughly and no boba(my mil ignored and went on with her water instead) Our pho finally arrived and they only had one strand of basil and we had 3 bowl of pho, i asked the waitress for more basil she mentioned there isnt anymore SMH. My mil than asked me to ask the waitress for chili garlic oil pepper and when i asked the waitress she pointed to the counter, I got up and they only had 3 cup of chili garlic oil on the counter... one of them had a bug stuck onto the chili oil can with the little feets still moving trying to escape . 2nd chili oil can looked like it was molded all inside because and it was so sticky I couldnt open the lid. 3rd can was a little bit better but still very sticky around the can, I told the waitress if they had newer or fresher chili oil because all there oil is really really dirty and this is her answer. "NO, this all we have". Sadly these she didnt bother to remove the chili oil pepper so I feel bad for whoever came ate next. And while all this happen there was only another llady by herself eating at the restaurant along with me and my in laws. And than a couple came in afterward when we paided our bills and was packing up to leave. Worst dinner ever. Is it possible to give negative stars. read more

This is one of a handful of places where we regularly eat. We love love love their soups. Chow fun is my favorite noodle and their fried rice is so yummy. My son loves boba and mango and pineapple are equally delicious. Never disappointed here and you couldn't ask for nicer people or friendlier service! Great location too. So I can't give this place too much credit because of my horrendous boba experience (which by the way, I have never had again in my many trips to Noodle House), but I can say that the food is actually pretty good. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from and it's become a workplace lunch choice over the past few months. I've had a variety of the noodle dishes including the Chow Fun but I've also had the Pho Ga here and it's pretty good! The place is usually empty and the food comes out quickly. The only downside is that if you and another person are getting pho, chances are the plate of greens will be really small and not enough. Do not be afraid to ask for more though - they'll bring it. I'm never quite sure about the service here... it's hit or miss. Sometimes they are great and sometimes they are just lazy. One day, we waited so long for our check that we decided to just get up and go pay at the counter instead. The lady who was sitting there was totally okay with that even though I've had the check brought to me plenty of times before. Either way, don't get the boba (see previous review), eat the food, ignore the service, and hopefully you'll have a positive experience. Oh yeah, and get the garlic fried rice. Sleepy atmosphere at noontime on Friday. Pho was tasty, greens a little wilted, and get this... we found THREE HAIRS in our food! Two in my son's (one in the first bowl and a long black one in his we're so sorry replacement bowl) and one in mine! Suddenly I was no longer willing to put the basil or cilantro in my food. I am having enough parasite problems already! So...Yuck!!! They were very apologetic and claimed it had never happened before. Yeah, right! We will never get near this place again. read more

My husband and I eat here every weekend. We love it! Did you m ow you can ask for broccoli and carrots in all your bowls?! Their chicken is also the cleanest chicken I've ever had at a pho place. Good tasting food. Decent prices. This would be one that I would suggest. For me it is not a destination restaurant but a place to go to when we need a good bowl of noodles and don't need any thing extra or extravagant. My son and I ordered soup and tapioca drinks. The soup was flavorless, and I'm pretty sure they gave us the wrong broth. My husband and have been going to this simple yet brilliant little Vietnamese place since before our kids were born and now after. We discovered it one day a few years ago while driving around the mall area. We had tried just about every Asian restaurant in our Napa area, but we found most of them to be passable at best. Certainly there were no Vietnamese restaurants (which we had in SoCal before moving up north) to be found until a short while ago when annalien opened in Napa. That restaurant is quite good, but you pay the Napa markup and the portions are small. Noodle House, on the other hand, is no frills dining--complete with the silver napkin dispensers on each table, but wow! fantastic food at incredible prices and the portions are healthy. (By accident we found out we got even more food when ordering takeout.) All the standard Vietnamese fare is there including beef and chicken pho (wonderful wonderful noodle soups) and those lovely translucent spring rolls with shrimp and pork. We have ordered most of the menu, including the chow fun, noodle and rice dishes. By the way, the staff is very friendly and very welcoming of kids of all ages. One day I ordered number 49, a pork and rice dish. it sounds simple, but it is delectable. On the plate is a small mountain of rice with a fried egg on top (trust me, delicious combo), a good serving of the pork with a wonderful sauteed flavor and crispy onions, and a pretty and tasty garnish of cucumber and tomato slices. Completing the order is a slightly sweet dipping sauce for the pork. My husband had ordered his usual that day, but kept coming back to my plate to have more of the pork (I believe they also make chicken, shrimp and combo versions of this as well). He had become addicted to the dish too. Since then we order this dish A LOT at the restaurant or to go. If you're looking for ambiance and a hushed and darkened room typical of the expensive places, then this restaurant is not for you. Think of it as cafe style. If you're looking for the same quality and flavors of the higher-priced Vietnamese restaurants, but lower prices and better portions of virtually the same fare, this is the place for you. I don't think this place even deserves a one star. First of all, all the employees had their strollers and laptops all around the restuarant. And the place looked a hot mess! To top it off I found a long blonde hair in my friends soup! I told the waitress and she said " she doesn't know how it got there because all the employees there are asian and that all their hair is black." Wtf?! This place sucks!!!! I ordered coconut juice and was charge $3.50 then when they gave me the glass it's full of ice. I have to remove the ice because I have colds. And when I removed it the juice is only half way of the glass. I told them to put more because half of the cup are ice. And they told me that they'll charge me more!!! Fuck this place!!! This was a hidden treasure, well, to me anyway. This restaurant has been around for some time, but throughout my many times in Fairfield, I have never tried this place until last weekend. I guess it's partly because the name is so generic and bland, I mean, Noodle House? I'm not a fan of ramen/noodles so what is one to think of a place called NOODLE HOUSE? Anyway, the people who invited me to go chose this place so I expected to order some soup. To my wonderful surprise, their menu was filled with options - and yummy ones at that. I had grilled pork chops with garlic rice - cooked to perfection. The pork chop was juicy and tender and succulent, its flavor, robust. Their garlic rice wasn't too garlicky nor was it too bland. And they had some crispy onions resting on top of the pork chop that made it even more flavorful. AND, they had THAI ICED TEA! Service, eh, wouldn't make you jump for joy, but I'd definitely come back for the food! This is to the owners of Noodle House - please come up with a better name that captures the goodness of your food, otherwise, you could turn people away, as it did to me. read more

I came here because I was craving noodles. I ordered chicken chow mein to go and sat down at a table to the side to wait. For one, the wait is ridiculously long with there being only one family there beside me, who was here before I was. I'm still waiting while writing this review. What prompted me to create a Yelp account and leave a review is the fact that while I was waiting, I looked through the little curtains they have hiding the kitchen and I saw a woman CHANGING A BABIES DIAPER on one of the kitchen tables! I asked the lady in the front if that was seriously what to saw and she obviously said no but I mean, i know what I saw. I'm going to grab my food but I don't know If I can actually stomach eating it. If I were you, I'd avoid this place. You never know want could end up in your food. read more

I went into this place just for some thai milk tea with large tapioca, (I wanted chow mein but it was like $8 and that seemed ridiculous when i could get chow mein for like $5 elsewhere). I walk in and the place is empty and the workers are all sitting at the tables doing things such as on a laptop, reading a magazine, or sitting there looking bored. They awkwardly stare at me as I walk in, until finally a lady gets up and says hi. I said can I get like a..thai boba? And she was like sure. So she proceeds to put ice and thai tea in a blender and i was like oh uhm i wanted it iced not blended. And she was like well you should've told me. And I said well usually when I go to Quickly they make it iced unless i ASK for it blended, and she said well thats another place. So I said fine I'll try it and it was fine, but it was way smaller than the one at Quickly and it was almost $4 for like a 12oz thai tea that had some ice thrown in it. I am a barista so I know that when you just put ice in a drink and blend it it turns out really weird and its not right, which is the case. I would NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. She also put the straw into my drink for me with her bare hands and no paper covering, which is very insanitary. read more

So I went here today ordered 3 different bowls of pho not the best was ok:( my husband tells the girl he wanted chow mein the fried she brings us back regular chow mein we dont touch it but ask is this the fried because the picture looks so different she said no I thought you ordered regular which is so crazy to me because it took her 5 minutes to explain what the fried was. not because of her but it was our first time there anyway she takes the plate and 10 min later brings back the fried. not good but ok when I get the check it was a lot I checked it and asked what was this other charge she told me for the chow mein she threw away I told her well why should I pay for it she said because I thought I heard you say regular so I said thats not my fault so a thin man walks up takes the receipt goes gets my money back walks away no words and the girl practically snarled at me WOW! so no 2nd chances make sure you look at your receipt mostly if she brings you the wrong dish you will pay!! bye noodle house cant say it was a pleasure:/ read more

This is the second and last time I will eat here. First time I ordered the Chicken Pho to go and when I got it to my work for lunch there was not alot of the veggies (sprouts, onions, etc). This time I specifically asked for extra veggies and was willing to pay. She said not to worry it would be free. Again, this was to go. Was very disappointed with PHO. I was given a dried up lemon the flesh was browning. I only got a few (three small drops of lemon juice out of it. The PHO had lots of noodles and not very much meat. The overall Taste of the PHO is almost like they are using powdered mixes for the broth. read more

sometimes smaller "hole in the wall" type spots can produce some of the best food so i am open to giving them a shot before the turnstyle types. but i must say i completely crapped out on this one. my son likes noodles and i was in the mood for some pho so we dove in. after fighting to get the front door open which was very hard we entered an empty place except for the chef in the corner on his laptop and the staff sitting at a table in the middle of the dining room doing food prep. ive seen that before at asian places so i wasnt put off too much because if the food is great i can appreciate the craft. if not, well its not appealing at all. in this case it is the later because the food was awful. one of the first things i noticed was the faded, barely legible dish pictures on the walls to illustrate what the dishes were supposed to look like. time for some realistic updated pics. second were the menus that were a complete mess with tattered corners and stuck on food stains. i ordered the chicken chow mein for my son, which oddly there was no option for on the kids menu. kids love chow mein, right? also i ordered the shrimp wonton and bbq pork pho. the chow mein was basic but seemed to have very large root end slices of cabbage which was odd. the soup was not shrimp wonton as advertised but shrimp cake and the broth wasnt very creative. flavorless to say the least. amazingley my complaints have yet to start as i was with my son and it was raining hard so we were in a good place. that was until i decided to order some rice with beef and veggies to take home to wifey. the didning room prep table had now turned into a full blown staff dinner table with my waitress elbows deep in a plate. i gestured to her that i had a question and with both greasy hands wrapped around what looked to be a chicken wing and mouth full of food she said "yes." after a few seconds of disbelief i asked her if she rather i shouted my question across the room or take my buisness elsewhere. she got up (hands still greasy) and came to our table. i asked if the kitchen could prepare the rice dish. she said there was nothing on the menu like that. i told her id pay extra for the steamed rice, beef and veggie dish. she did not budge. she offered me beef fried rice with some veggies. i agreed as i was frustrated and ready to go. the next morning after sleeping off a few shots i was in the mood for some grease. i nuked the rice dish and was prompted to write my first food review ever. it was the most bland elementary fried rice ever. the extra veggies were more of the obviously frozen peas and carrots with some of the smallest pieces of broccoli i have seen. they were the same size as the peas literally. in the word of the great "Dave Chapell" as "Rick James."
