#43. Pho w/ Steak, Flank, Tendon & Tripe (small)
    Stephanie W.

I was in the area and was craving a warm bowl of pho. Decided to visit Pho Saigon because it had great reviews. We were seated promptly and service was quick. We ordered a large beef rib pho and a small pho with steak, flank, tendon and tripe (#43). We received our order within minutes after ordering! Each bowl of pho had a good portion of noodles and meat toppings. The beef was tender and the broth was flavorful. Usually after eating pho, I'm super thirsty from the broth but the broth here tasted more "clean" and I wasn't dying from thirst all day. Overall, I'm very pleased with the meal here. It was really affordable for the amount of food you get and much cheaper compared to prices in other areas of the Bay Area. Will definitely come back here when I'm in the area again!

Banh mi fried tofu with egg 2
    David C.

OCT2025 Ordered delivery and it was close by. Always worth checking on banh mi to see if things stack up and have a good option for lunch after. I had gotten a banh mi with fried tofu and egg added, banh mi combo, and fresh summer roll. The fresh summer rolls were decent, tho I did like the peanut sauce that came with it. The banh mi were ok. Needed a bit more sauce overall for both and some balance issues. Or different bread needed. The tofu was much too big and there was no balance of ingredients. With the bread being what it is, it barely had anything of the pickled veggies in that one. The cold cut also bland and felt a bit empty of things. It was an easy ship but I'd likely try other things next time if getting stuff from here.

Nem Nuong spring rolls (2 per order)

It's been a few years since I've been here, but it's super close to home now so I made the short drive one morning. I was surprised to see how much the inside has changed. I like that they have a sauce station by the door for your to go orders. I hate having to ask for sauce cups and things so that in of itself makes a difference. It's pretty dim inside. Maybe I'm old, idk. Same amount of tables but seems like they have more employees now. Some of the usual faces, some new. Even with more wait staff, the service is a little hit or miss. They were pretty quick with the food, but when my BF went to pay, he had to stand there for a good while while 3 (THREE!!) employees walked by him back and forth, without even letting him know they'd be right with him. I don't love that. Their menu is mostly the same, but they have added premium pho options (oxtail, beef ribs, etc) and they also have nem nuong on the menu too. You can get it in a spring roll or vermicelli bowl. I looooove nem nuong so I had to order the spring roll version, and I love that they didn't skimp out on the fried egg roll wrapper inside. Not only that, they serve it with actual nem nuong sauce, which is a bit more savory and glutinous in texture than peanut sauce. Their pho is decent. They're kinda skimpy on the herbs, but I love the chili oil they have on the table. FYI it's a little spicy, but the flavor is good. It's not strong on the lemongrass though, which I wish it was. My rice plate was a good size, and the egg roll was tasty and crunchy. I just wish it was thicker! :( I did see they've updated some of their banh mi options so I might those another try the next time. For the area, their prices lean on the lower end so they can get pretty busy. Don't expect fancy but the place is clean and tasty.

I've been ordering from here for decades. My Vietnamese mom often craves Bun Bo Hue and this used to be the only Vietnamese restaurant around that offered it. With the power of social media it has become a more popular dish with more and more Vietnamese restaurants adding it to their menu, but Saigon Pho still offers the most consistently good one. I hadn't dined in here in forever and one day my oldest said she was craving Vietnamese food, so we decided to stop by. We went in on a weekday at lunchtime and business was booming. The place is small, but ran really well and efficiently. We were sat within a few minutes and the food was ordered and came out just as quick. What we ordered: cha gio, two orders of BBH, soda chanh (fresh lemonade soda), and a café sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee). The drinks were perfect! Cha gio were a little small, but very good. I wish they served them with lettuce to wrap them in to dip into the nuoc mam. The bun bo Hue was super tasty and authentic with the pork hock and cube of blood. It came with a lot more meat than I remember. Like I feel like too much meat, but I guess that's personal preference. I'll remember to ask for more noodles and less meat next time! Finished eating and packed up to leave quickly as there were people standing and waiting for a table. Had to keep the train running smoothly lol.

Decided to tap into my viet side today. Very pleased with this place. The small pho and a drink was the perfect amount of food to fill my big belly. The guy that served us was also very nice and made things easy for us. The only thing I would change was the guy I ate with, I'm pretty sure he's an Israeli spy. I'm onto him but he was acting a little strange while we were eating. Other than that, beautiful eats with even more beautiful people. Thank you pho Saigon.

Cute local spot. Bun Bo Hue broth is super flavorful. The noodle soup portions are super filling. Good for groups of 2-6. The staff are very kind as well. It's a very calming space with the warm lighting and the vibes Vietnamese music

Pho Saigon No 1 is a popular Vietnamese restaurant in N. Texas avenue in Fairfield. It has no fancy decor or atmosphere, but comfortable tables and seats. Modest prices, with well seasoned dishes, and adequate sizes. We came on a nice cool evening to grab some dinner. Their food and drink menu was simple and direct. I had a Com Tom Ga Nuong (Rice x grilled chicken and shrimp) with soup and milk iced tea. The food and soup were banal, lacks flavor and freshness. Moreover, both food and soup were lukewarm. Break my marbles! One can opine that there was no love and dedication in food quality they serve. I have been to a two dozen vietnamese places, and guess what? I know what's a mediocre food vs a great authentic cuisine. I was surprised when they served it in less than five minutes after ordering. If only they took time to warm it up more. But I reckon this is the type of place to get a quick in and out meal. Prices were very reasonable, hence, the locals liked it. Staff were cordial and competent. Overall, I think it's a decent Pho place for commoners. Given my dine-in experience I am reticent to recommend nor come back again.

This is a hidden gem in Fairfield. Everything was super fresh and authentic. The staff are all very friendly. The place was packed, but we got amazing service. Food came out super fast. The thai tea was perfect. Not too sweet. The music was a vibe and it was nice and clean inside. I also bought a jar of their lemongrass garlic chili oil...so bomb!! Go here if you want some authentic Vietnamese food!

My new favorite Pho spot in town. Came here for lunch and it was busy, which tells me food must be good. Plenty of seating and the service was fast. I ordered steak and brisket pho (small) and OMG the broth was flavorful and the noodles were good. Generous amount of meat and noodles. I'm already planning to come back with my family to try other stuff from their menu.

Pho with Beef ribs and Oxtail
    Robert S.

Since moving to Fairfield, this has been our go to Pho spot. Some of the most flavorful broth we have tried! The beef rib and oxtail pho are our favorites. The meat are both are so tender and super beefy. No matter what pho we get, we always order the fried chicken wings. Even when we eat them at home, they are still crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They make our kids dance whenever they eat them. Tried their strawberry lychee tea and bahn mi for the first time today. The tea had just the right amount sweetness and you could still taste the tea. The grilled pork Bahn mi was solid--if I worked nearby I'd be having one for lunch at least 2-3x a week. Whenever I go there, there are always 3-4 DoorDashers in line and 2-3 people waiting for takeout orders (in my book, a long line is a good sign--it usually means good food). But no matter how long the line is, they push the food out pretty quick. I'm never waiting more than 10-15 minutes.

From the first bite, I could tell this place was different. The bread had that perfect crisp on the outside while still being soft inside, the ingredients tasted fresh, and everything came together really well. What I also appreciated was how simple and authentic everything felt. No gimmicks -- just really good food done right. My husband called to see if there had been a mistake, and we were told to drive back. Since our bánh mì was already cold, he asked if they could remake the entire order. When they did, the pho still had barely any more meat than before. When he questioned it, he was told it only looked like there was more once the broth was added. He then asked for a little extra noodles, and they tried to charge him. There was no apology, and the employee seemed annoyed. When he asked if they could offer anything for the inconvenience of making another trip, he simply said, "We don't do that." The biggest disappointment wasn't just the small portions--it was the customer service. We won't be returning.

On my first day in Vallejo, I tried another Vietnamese restaurant across town, and it was such a disappointment that I almost swore off Vietnamese food in Vallejo altogether. Being from Sacramento, where we're fortunate to have some of the best Vietnamese food in California, my expectations are pretty high when it comes to authentic Vietnamese cuisine. I arrived about five minutes before closing because of traffic, and even though they were already past their closing time, they still welcomed me in, took my order, and treated me with kindness. That level of hospitality is rare and greatly appreciated. I ordered the cơm tấm with shrimp, egg, and grilled meat, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly. The meat was flavorful and tender, the shrimp was grilled perfectly, and the egg had a soft yolk that tied the whole dish together. It tasted exactly like the authentic Vietnamese food I grew up eating with my family. Every bite brought back memories of home. The cherry on top was finding out that the restaurant is family-owned and operated. When I visited, it was a father and son working together, helping customers and running the restaurant with genuine care. You can tell they take pride in both their food and their service. I plan on continuing to spend time in Vallejo, and I will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. We walked in and there were a few people already enjoying lunch, but plenty of open seating. We were seated right away and service got going quickly. Always a good sign. There are lunch specials, but we went à la carte because I believe if you're going out to eat, you might as well order what you actually want. We ordered seafood tom kha, chicken & shrimp pad Thai, basil beef, spicy catfish, pla pad phed (trout), and steamed rice -- all requested not spicy because my parents like flavor, not a near-death experience. The seafood tom kha was a win. Dad was impressed with the variety of seafood -- shrimp, scallops, mussels, calamari, and catfish. He kept commenting on how flavorful the broth was, which in dad language is basically a Michelin star. The basil beef was new for my parents and they both loved it. The sauce had great flavor and paired perfectly with the rice. The pad Thai was good. Solid. Dependable. Not the kind that makes you dramatically pause mid-bite and rethink your life choices, but definitely tasty. Now the spicy catfish is what I personally come here for. It's fried just right -- not overly breaded, still flaky and tender inside. The sauce is always on point and full of flavor. This dish alone keeps me coming back. The pla pad phed (trout) unfortunately didn't land the same way. Because it's served filleted, it's easy to overcook, and sadly this one was. The sauce itself was great, but the fish was a bit too done. Overall, this place has been a favorite of mine for a while, and it survived the ultimate test: my parents enjoyed it too. I'll definitely keep coming back for the spicy catfish, basil beef, and their reliable pad Thai. And the service? Always friendly and attentive -- which honestly makes the experience even better.
