I've been reading reviews and seeing this come up so many times with wonderful comments, so we decided to give it a try. Thai places around here are competitive and this place is a competitor! The interior has all kinds of 50s memorabilia on the walls making it fun to sit and look at although it doesn't seem to fit with Thai food - it makes it unique. The food was all fresh and the fresh rolls were one of our fav! The green curry was exactly as I like it. Simply amazing! We were super excited for come here for lunch! I went to their location in university city a few years ago and loved the food and vibes. Unfortunately that location closed down and we didn't know if they'd reopen there. Fast forward a few years and we came across this location on Google maps, so we unanimously decided to try it out! I had the Rama Noodle with tofu, spice level 4. It was hearty, with the right amount of spice and perfectly crispy tofu. I paired it with a hot green tea. The husband had the pad kee mao with chicken, also spice level 4. Both were delicious, and we finished our plates. He had the Thai iced tea, which was not overly sweet, just the right amount of sweet. Service was great, friendly and quick but not rushed. Absolutely delicious food. I have just come back from Thailand and China and was missing the food. The fish ball soup with wide noodles at Noodle Nation was so authentic. My family and I recently had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant and the minute we stepped in it felt like the Sistine Chapel of coolness. Stopped by here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! The decor is so fun and the staff were amazing. Food came out quick! We started off with fried spring rolls. They were all different shapes and the inside texture was mush. Not a fan of that texture. My daughter ordered the Mee Yok Ped. It was her first time having duck and she loved it. Noodles and duck were cooked well. I ordered the Heavenly Noodles and was not expecting what came out. The noodles were crunchy but once you stirred them into the gravy they softened up. I came here few times. It is interesting, the restaurant has a unique retro design. Everytime I came here, I always looked around in detail. Staff are friendly. Food wise, I tried many different food here. This time I bought Duck Noodle, Duck Fried Rice, Fish Ball Noodle Soup, and Chicken Wings. I think all the food taste pretty good. The only downside is, the protein seems too little/portion, and the portion itself is smaller than any restaurant in general. I'm just hoping the portion can be bigger & more protein in it too. This place is so good we ate here twice in 3 days! So far my favorite has been the duck fried rice! Duck is cooked to perfection and the rice was done justice! Our 2nd visit, I ordered the chicken pad Thai, received 3 pieces of meat in my dish and about 10 bamboo shoots and the noodles were congealed and bad, I will not come back, ate about 1/3 of it. Minuscule amount of pulverized peanuts. Waitress did check on us and to avoid any conflict nor make my husband feel bad enjoying his meal I didn't say anything. Noodle Nation is really, really good. If I could give it a 4.5 I would. The only reason that I'm not giving it a 5 is because there wasn't anything that makes me go "I need to go back ASAP." However, it's good enough we're I'll definitely be back. We ordered the Fresh Rolls, Papaya Salad, Boat Noodle Soup, Guay Jub, and Wonton Noodle Soup - all very good, even great. The Boat Noodle Soup & Guay Jub both popped out as should/must tries. While both are "pork stews," both have their own unique flavors and identities that make them worth trying. The Boat Noodle Soup had deep, rich flavors with a slight sweetness that really meshed well with the pork flavors. Really good mixture of savor flavors with a subtle, sweet undertone. The Guay Jub, order at the recommendation of the server, was fantastic. The pork belly was succulent and crispy, the noodles were different, in a good way, and the broth was rich and filling. Both of these were a great alternative to pho or ramen and I'd gladly order them again. The Wonton soup was good. Very reminiscent of others - in a good way. Clean broth, large wontons. It's good. The Papaya Salad had great heat and a nice freshness. Good. But nothing special. What I would expect. Same with the fresh rolls. In addition to the very good food is a friendly staff and a really cool "vibe." The interior looks more like a burger joint than a Thai restaurant and it creates for just a cool vibe. Went to Noodle Nation in U District once a few years ago and loved it. It's still fantastic now after reopening in Mountlake Terrace. It took a while for the food to come out, but there was only one waitress and the food was definitely worth the wait. The panang curry was very flavorful and the phad thai had just the right amount of tanginess and spiciness. I only tried a little bit of phad see iew but my family said it was a little salty for their taste, though I thought it tasted good. It is very well decorated in they had a nice playlist going on in the background as well. Looking forward to going more often now that it's closer to home. read more

In short: One of the best Thai places around up here, and, man, do we have a lot of them over the last few years. In long: A bustling strip mall at the corner of a couple of busy streets. Huge parking lot, plenty of businesses. NN is around the corner in the last spot. You kind of can't believe the decor in here. It's like a kitschy roadhouse, with hundreds of toy cars, car signs, gas signs, tire signs, beer signs--everything you could imagine in a sort of Route 66 style. Other than that, it's the typical square dining room in a tilt-up strip mall, with plenty of tall windows on two sides. Comfortable, familiar, maybe a bit generic...except for all those tchotchkes. The menu is a big one, a dozen pages of full color in a laminated folder you flip through. Soups, stir fries, apps, salads, noodle dishes. I should have read ahead more; I got great food but my guesses were nowhere close to the mark of what they're most known for. Gotta come back now, check out the signature dishes of the house. The service here is gentle and sweet. You can hear them having lively fun conversations in the back, but they're quiet and mild-mannered when they take your order and bring your food. They never miss a beat. Their kids came in from school while I was having lunch, and the older one helped a little with sidework before she got her food and then settled into homework at the back table. This is a family affair, and I love it. Fresh rolls Some of the best I've had. Sliced up like a sushi roll and served with steaming-hot peanut sauce. They come out on a polished tin serving platter, makes them look like an enormous portion. I had them with tofu, and they're paaaacked with fresh crunchy veg. Hellfire Basil Stir Fry Probably the corniest name in the menu, but spicy food sounded good. And it wasn't especially spicy, even at 4 stars, which is the top of the scale. They did bring out the caddy with all the peppers and oils, which I dug. Didn't even have to ask. The onions were still a little crunchy in this, but the noodles were maybe a bit overdone and getting super soft. Hot Green Tea Comes out boiling hot. It's a bag in a mug, but at least it's not the bottomless silver pot. I drank every drop...once it cooled down. I love this spot and feel like a knucklehead for not trying the soups and other stuff that have earned them their good rep. I'll be back for a fuller picture of their food, very soon. read more

This is one of my favorite Thai Restaurants. I use to drive 35 minutes to the U District to eat here, so I am glad they opened another location closer to me. We drive pass this restaurant almost daily and finally dropped in for lunch today. The restaurant is on the smaller side with about 8 to 10 tables. We opted to sit outside because it was a little stuffy inside. The weather was amazing today so it was nice and breezy. Definitely should have more outdoor seating bc it's patio season! The woman who served us was friendly and service was pretty quick. They weren't busy at around 1:30pm. I like the plates and platters the dishes were served on. The plates are enameled and the serving plates were stainless steel. We ordered 4 items plus a Thai tea: -Thai tea - very milky and on the sweeter side. -chicken wings - comes with 5 wings & they were mega crispy and perfectly seasoned. It's served with Mae ploy (sweet chili sauce). A little on the pricey side for 5 wings ($13.95), but it was the best item of the day! -papaya salad - a little heavy on the dressing and a tad bit salty from the fish sauce. The shrimp were nice. -duck noodles - we've never seen these noodles before on a Thai menu so we had to give it a try. The duck was served off the bone (appreciated this!!) along with seasoned egg noodles, bean sprouts & bok choy. This dish was definitely giving Chinese style noodles with the hoisin flavored sauce. A tad bit on the sweet side and heavy on the sauce. Would enjoy it more with less sauce. -pad kee mao - always a must order for us. This one came with a lot of bamboo shoots (not my fave, but hubs lovessss bamboo shoots) which kind of overpowered this noodle dish. Otherwise, I enjoyed the noodles & veggies. A tad bit on the salty side, but still edible. Overall, we would most likely return bc they have a lot more items we're interested in trying! read more

It's good - I tried the house noodle (sub meat for tofu, but kept the pork broth). Delish, but didn't quite hit the spot and I'm not sure why. I think I didn't really like the texture of the egg noodles. It feels too much like dried ramen noodle from a package. I feel like there could be another dish I love more.
