My first time in Calgary yay!!! I tried the pho dac biet, which is their beef combo pho. Soooo delicious, and SUCH a generous portion of meat. They had everything from beef tendon, tripe, meatballs, beef brisket, and thinly sliced beef. We got the large, and this portion was seriously nice. I grew up on the 三色冰 which is an iced coconut drink with crushed ice and three different types of toppings - jelly, red bean, and another jelly. This was so nostalgic, though I think the coconut milk was a little too thick. They're known for their satay soup, and you can order any of their soups with the satay version. It tasted just like a laksa wit the curry and satay flavors. I personally prefer the regular pho, but this was such a nice surprise!! The most shocking menu item was their macaroni with chicken or beef. It's basically this macaroni sautéed with chicken bouillon, fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and ketchup - this creates the most wondrous aroma of flavors that's so addicting. I wish I ordered this for my own dish instead, cuz I could've drank that whole plate. The service is superrrr fast despite us having a table of 10. This is a classic Vietnamese restaurant with minimal decor. read more

Finally.. real Vietnamese food. The place was empty when we arrived but quickly filled as folks started coming in for lunch. We tried the Fried Chicken with fried rice, and the Beef Pho. Not to be missed was the Vietnamese ice coffee. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean and pretty big. There are many Vietnamese restaurants in the area so the competition must be pretty stiff. In all this is a good restaurant and we look forward to coming back again. read more

Five stars for the satay pho and the new satay pho with coconut milk! Was told to come here when a friend knew I was going to Calgary. He recommended that I have their satay pho and I would like it. Upon looking at their menu, I wasn't sure whether it was the 20a satay pho or 20b satay pho with coconut milk. Two of my friends ordered the satay pho w coconut (choice of beef, chicken or seafood). I ordered the regular one (w seafood). My other friend ordered fried wontons to start. Upon recieving my food, mine looked underwhelming compared the the coconut milk one. Mine look less rich and less satay. But both were amazing and rich in their broths! The regular satay pho has a lighter and more clear taste, no satay and barely any peanuts or if they had any? The pho satay w coconut milk was thicker and richer in flavor. You can taste the satay, peanut and shrimp paste, delicious! As for the fried wonton, it was actually really good! I'm not sure what was inside, looks like some sort of cooked fish paste or a blend of seafood and meat combined into a paste, but they were delicious. The Gioi aka Noodle World Vietnamese Restaurant. This is the place I hit it up when I *DON'T* want to eat pho. Sometimes it's more than Pho, it's all about the Vietnamese cuisine. When I'm in the mood to eat rice dishes or vermicelli dishes this is the place I goto for those kinds of items. I really like their Com Bo Nuong Tao Hu Ky aka Rice with Beef and Bean Curd (I think lol.). I'm also a fan of their Hieu Tieu dishes as well, the glass noodle kind, mostly seafood and usually very delicious to eat. I'll also add to the items I eat here is Bo Luc Lac with Macaroni. I know, simple dish right? Beef cubes and Macaroni --- but I love it! I'm a pretty simple fellow myself. Cafe Suda Da aka Iced Vietnamese Coffee is something I usually order from here as well. Service is usually very good, walk in - seated and within 5 minutes of sitting the order is taken and although it may take a few minutes extra for your food the restaurant itself is decent looking enough to enjoy sitting there twiddling your thumbs a little extra, not too much extra or I'm going to re-write this part of my review. Staff are friendly, english is average but good enough for people who work in a Vietnamese restaurant. read more

Food 5/5 the food here is phenomenal . I love the sweet & sour soup & caramelized fish! Very authentic. Service 4/5 service is good but servers don't speak a whole lot of English. Environment 3/5 place is clean , the bathrooms could use a little bit of TLC Parking 4/5 depending on when you go there will be lots of parking but there is another restaurant there and sometimes the parking lot can be full. read more

I used to come here for their Bun Rieu. It used to be one of the better ones in Calgary. They have changed the flavoring of this soup with very minimal toppings. Their special dried noodles are still ok and their pho soup base is not too bad either. read more

Oh man, this place is just memories. First off, service is average. Sometimes you get the grumpy waitress and sometimes you get a blank waitress. Their service is fast though and you get your food almost instantly. My favorite food there are the quails. Oh what delight!! Their menus are extensive, my fiancee drinks a lot of their bubble teas. And I often get the broken rice special that has a lot of stuff on it. Their portions are good bordering a lot and I really like that. It's a good balance of meat, carbs, and veggies. The flavour of the food is often good, though sometimes I feel that their maccaroni beef steaks are a bit too oily. I like their pop refrigerator it is super cute! It always makes me buy their Coke there! The setting of the place is mediocre, it's not really meant to look good. The fish aquarium is kind of moldy but that's a part of its charm. The seating tends to be uncomfortable if you stay on one spot for too long but other than that the place is pretty medium. Though one note, they did play Christmas music till February last year and it annoyed me because there was an onslaught of repetitive Christmas music. Because of the grumpy service and corny music, I give this place a 4/5. And yes I would recommend you to try pho here. read more

When I go to noodle world, I only have three things on my mind: 1) canh chua ca/ canh chua tom, hot and sour soup with pineapples, and fish or shrimp 2) ca kho to, sauteed fish in clay pot 3) com ga xao do, red fried rice with chicken just writing that makes my mouth water. The canh chua ca used to be made with a different type of fish, but the recent recipe is still delicious. Very fragrant, strong hot and sour broth flavour. An abundance of fish, pineapples, tomatoes, and bean sprouts. The fish comes sizzling hot in the clay oven, and is always well seasoned. The tenderness of the fish, and the sauce are two things I could eat over plain rice every day. The red fried rice with chicken is something that I only associated with noodle world. I like adding some hoisin sauce to my rice, give that a shot next time for some extra flavour (not that it's lacking any LOL). Well priced. If you're going with a group of two or four and want to try dishes (1) and (2), i recommend ordering the set meal for two or four. read more

my last review was in 2012, and towards end of 2014 my review still stands. I had a craving for Pho last week and I went to Pho Xuan in 36th st. NE, the next day I have to go to noodle world to satisfy the craving...coz the other place didnt cut it. Even my doggie didnt like the spring rolls I brought home from Pho Xuan. I hope they NEVER close! family owned, very friendly. yah, the paint is pink....not a biggie, the food is awesome! serving is more than enough! read more

The service is not really too good. We felt like we were unwanted. The food is actually quite good, so that made up for the bad service. Everything is really overpriced!! Café sua da is $4.50. Soda lemonade is $4.50. There is absolutely no way those drinks should be valued that high in that neighborhood. It's just highway robbery. Pretty tasty Vietnamese pork chop rice dish. Flavourful and chop was moist and not at all dry. Fried tofu wrap was interesting also. Ketchup macaroni and beef was very kid friendly. Teenager wolfed it down. Vermicelli with pork chop, shrimp and bean curd was rated excellent. The only average dish was the chicken stir fry. It was meh. Atmosphere clean and typical Asian no frills decor. Will be back to try the pho for the true test of the restaurants worth. read more

Fresh ingredients, this is the first time I come to this place, which is on a Saturday. The noodles taste good and the meat cut just right.

I ordered for delivery, when the driver showed up I gave him my debit card, and he said that the lady at the restaurant told him I would be paying cash and he did not have a debit machine. I told him the lady is mistaken since I never carry any cash and I specifically remember the lady asking me cash or debit as the last thing before we ended the call. He called the restaurant and told the lady and she said he would have to go back and get a debit machine and then DOUBLE charge me 10$ for delivery. I said thats laughable considering your less than 10 minutes away and you guys made the mistake in the first place. Then me and the driver stand there for 10 minutes on the phone while she speaks to someone else in the background. I don't understand what shes saying in another language all I hear her say in English multiple times is "DOUBLE CHARGE". She gets back on and asks if I can pay with credit card over the phone and I say yes and it goes like this:-What is your number and expiry date? -XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXX -What is your pin number? -Um...you mean my 3 digit number on the back? -No, your actual credit card pin number. -Um...Im not giving you that over the phone. You shouldnt need my actual pin number. -We need it or we cant do the order -No I'm assuming if i had given her my pin number she would have double charged me for the order despite telling her its her fault 100% and I wasn't paying an extra dime. After standing there for 25 minutes wasting my time and the drivers time they take the food back. Incredibly shady, greasy, incredibly pompous, disgusting business practices, completely unprofessional. I will never order or go here and will go out of my way to tell people to do the same. The driver also had told me this is the 3rd time this has happened from the same people. read more
