I was originally going to get pho here, but my wife saw a beef dish with tomatoes that was being served and it looked really good. Found it on the menu and it was number 82 beef stir fried on platter of tomatoes, dressed lettuce & onions. It comes with either rice or rice vermicelli. I got the vermicelli. The beef was very tender and the sauce tasted so good. All the vegetables made the dish so refreshing. I also put the vermicelli in the beef dish so that it could soak up all that sauce. The best place for a plate of beef and some of the best rice you'll eat. We stopped for a fast bite to eat. I had beef and tomatoes, it was served on Abe's of lettuce, beef was cooked perfectly, the taste was amazing.!! The rice was so fluffy. My wife had a beef and vegetables on crispy noodles. It was delicious. Service is fast and steady, I recommend the coffee with condensed milk over ice wow talk about a great way to enjoy a cup of coffee. came to this place right after the flight. The parking was super easy, huge lot with many parking spots. The waitress was attentive. The pho comes in small, regular, or large. I order the small size and it was the perfect amount for me. My husband ordered the vermicelli dish (bun). The fish sauce could be more flavorful and stronger (lacking the fishiness to it). This restaurant had just the kind of comfort food I was looking for on a cold and snowy evening. In fact, my family ate here twice for dinner while staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Calgary Airport. The first night eating here we were seated immediately and quickly attended to. Three of us ended up ordering 33. Quynh SPECIAL Beef Noodle Soup (Rare Done, Brisket, Tendon, Tripe & Beef Ball) and one in our group ordered 32. Rare Done Beef Noodle Soup with Brisket. I wish I had ordered the small because the Regular portion was very generous! They are very generous in the amount of meat, and other dressing they include in the Noodle Soup in addition to the amount of noodles that were included. The broth was also very flavorful, and they included Thai bird chilies in addition to bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lemon. The second time we ate here we actually ordered delivery as we had just finished a ski trip and were exhausted. We ordered food for a group of 7, and it was delivered right to our hotel room without any problems. All our food was in order and even though it was delivery, it was just as delicious as our first visit. For the pho, they separated the soup broth from the noodles and everything else, so nothing got overcooked or soggy from being in the broth too long. They also packed individual plastic bags for the bean sprouts, basil, lemon and chilies for each person who ordered pho. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will probably be going back the next time I'm in Calgary. read more

This was the first Vietnamese restaurant I'd ever eaten at years ago. Back when I didn't get the difference between Vietnamese and Chinese... but I was in high school then so you can forgive me. Now being more worldly I know Vietnamese Cuisine and happened to go back there before going to a movie at Sunridge. I am pleased that they offer some vegetarian items on their menu. I got the new vegetable pho soup and it was really good. Generally there is the exact same vegetarian items on every Vietnamese menu I've seen in Calgary, so at least it's there. It would be cool to know if they could make some other Vietnamese dishes vegetarian for wider variety. But when in the area this is my choice for Vietnamese. Decor is still the same, but the menu has a few new items over the years. I'm glad they're still in business. They can probably thank the movie theatre for that! read more

The first time I came to Quynh's was back in 2003 abouts; the flavours haven't changed and I'm glad. There are several things any Calgarian will appreciate about this place: 1) the food is delicious and really flavorful, 2) friendly and courteous staff (obvious, that doesn't give you a passport to be rude), 3) lots of variety in the menu to cater to both meat lovers and vegetarians, 4) food comes out fast. Awful, I don't know how this place is so busy. Heard good things about this place from a couple of friends who work nearby and it had some pretty decent reviews so I had no trepidation trying it out. Went in for lunch with a couple of co-workers as a meeting landed us in the area. Food was mediocre, portions are large but that's about all I can say is good about the place. They had one small sprig of basil for 2 xl pho and their salad roll sauce is basically a hoisen with peanuts on top, not a traditional peanut sauce that's typically made in house with crushed chili paste, shredded carrots, and crushed peanuts in a rich peanuty sauce...nope. Short cuts in the food biz don't help, especially to a new patron. I was so lucky to have a piece of plastic wrap in my pho, which aside from the plastic and average meat, was really bland and had zero aromatics or body to it, it was clear which is good but it was also really weak flavor-wise. They seemed really un-phased by my plastic surprise and offered to make me another pho but my stomach had turned at this point and they offered to change up the meal to the lemon grass vermicelli bowl which was on the lunch special to go (special included two spring rolls, a shrimp salad roll, and a pop with the vermicelli). Went to pay, the pho was still on the bill, then they removed it AFTER I POINTED IT OUT and they then added the REGULAR priced vermicelli that did not come with the shrimp salad roll or the pop. Called them out on it and they said that they didn't charge me for the lunch special, so no shrimp salad roll or pop, so I said well you guys made a mistake with the pho and instead of giving me the "lunch special" at the "lunch special" price you charge me more and I don't get two items, why would you do that?" One of the ladies was like its no problem, I'll make you 1 salad roll- like she was doing me a favor- the dude at the till was frazzled and had no idea wtf was going on, a third lady comes in and tries to explain why they proceeded to charge me the regular price and not the ADVERTISED lunch special price... This is besides the point, it was only a few dollars more but its the PRINCIPLE here, YOU MADE A MISTAKE, and instead of not charging me for the mistake or the replacement meal like any other restaurant would, you charge me MORE and stiff me on two items? WOW. Got to the office to eat it, there were too much noodles, not enough veg, chicken was dry and tasteless, zero lemon grass flavor, and the fish sauce lacked depth of flavor, no shrimp roll, no pop. NO BUENO! Never going there again. Totally muted to western pallets, and I've had some true authentic viet food and this is NOT it. Also, 95% of the patrons were not East Asian and that is usually the first sign that the food will NOT be good. If you do land in the NE quadrant and you want a solid viet experience, drive 5 min in the other direction to Basil Vietnamese, its right on 32 ave close to McDonalds- its amazing, great service and pretty damn good Viet food. I heard the same owners/family members of Pho Da Bo on 17th ave run this place too and their food is outstanding. If you are in the deep NW, stick to Pho Saute in Nolan hill, one of the best subs and pho I've had in the burbs. SKIP THIS PLACE. 1 out of 5 because 0 is not an option. read more

Vegetables were really nice and fresh. Steamed not mushy. Ordered the chicken satay stir fry and wish it was spicier. ( Im a pasty white girl and it was too mild for me) so if you dont like spice then maybe this is the place for you. Nice clean restaurant- great fast service. Waters were never empty. I'd like to give this 4 stars but it's only 3.5 and rated 3 because of the blandness that their big plastic bottles of hot and viet sauce didn't solve. This restaurant is naturally bright and nicely coloured with good seating and wall paintings. Their Vietnamese staff are quietly efficient, and the patrons are a cross section of caucasians, middle easterners, latinos, filipinos, and oriental asians or indochinese. The interior of this restaurant is more pleasant than most Vietnamese venues, but the food is what one comes for... But the pho sate: the untouched broth is not all that full bodied at all, but just passable. Jacking it up with sprouts, basil leaves and lime juice didn't help much, and so added the sauces tried to bridge the gap between savoury and mediocre. Not likely. The kitchen sets the tone that sauces needn't be used on. Check it out if you want cheerfully clean surroundings, but if you want the real thing, go to Pure Contemporary Vietnamese downtown on 8th Ave between 7th & 8th Streets? Much less boring and much more representative of Viet street food...! read more

We saw this place while driving around and it got 4 star on Yelp so we have it a try. nice place, first time I've seen a Viet restaurant in Calgary with a line up to be seated. Most of the patrons are not vietnamese. Deep friend spring rolls are good, great customer service, bette than most other Vit restaurants. Skip the wonton egg noodle bowl and the sweet and sour Vit noodles. We would try this place again but will try their pho next time. read more

Best Vietnamese food I've found in Calgary... It's Phobulous! Great food + great service = great dining experience. My personal favourite is the number 37 Satay Seafood noodle soup. It's Spicy, savoury and delicious. Price wise they are on par with most Vietnamese places. All items on the menu range from $8-$14 , so a dinner for 2 is less than $30 My girlfriend and I eat there all the time, and I've eaten there by myself on many occasions. The service is quick enough you can be in and out in less than 30 mins (depending on how fast you eat). It can get busy at supper time since its next door to the movie Theater and people tend to grab dinner before the movies, so there can be a bit of a wait for a table, however the turnover is high enough you never wait too long. I love pho. There's no ifs, ands or buts about it. When it comes to Quynh, I have a mixed rating for you. Here goes: 5 Stars: The ambiance, the space, the service, the bathrooms, the cleanliness, the bubbletea, the selection, the veggie spring rolls and the BEST fried bananas and ice cream I have EVER had. EVUH. 2 Stars: The Pho. Unfortunately, I have had AMAZING pho, and the number 61 here (rice vermicelli, vegetables and spring rolls) just didn't cut it. The spring rolls were amazing, but the vegetables that they put on top were gross. It's like they shredded and pickled veggies and decided to put it on my vermicelli. Gross. Overall, I will go back again and again and AGAIN, SOLELY for the veggie spring rolls and the fried bananas and ice cream. During my month long stay, I found myself eating at Quynh's on four separate occasions. Each time, I was greeted with courteous staff and excellent service. I will be out in Calgary again soon and will definitely be returning. The pho broth is on par or better than most and the actually noodles are so right that Goldilocks would approve. Other offerings like the spring rolls and grilled meats are definitely tasty as well. Slightly more expensive than the offerings at home for me in the Vancouver area, I never felt as though the prices were unreasonable. If you're in the area, stop reading and just give it a go! read more

Great little spot for a Vietnamese fix. We ate here before catching a movie at the Cineplex next door. It took a while to get a table even though it was not full at all. However, it has a very nice decor, kind of a modern oriental feel. The food came out quickly and looked great (too bad I forgot to take a pic). I got a vermicelli chicken bowl and it tasted as good as it looked. I would say a bit better than other Vietnamese places I've tried in the city. This is on the lower end of average as nothing particularly wowed me. The lower star Yelp reviews say the pho is not that great and I tend to agree. Quick and friendly service, if you go there with an hour before your movie starts next door, you will have PLENTY of time to eat a large meal and walk over to the theatre. Pho quest stop number three. I used to frequent this place for lunch quite a bit when I worked nearby, but I usually got rice or noodle dishes. However, being on my current hunt I ordered the pho sate for dinner. Although the restaurant was quite busy (due to cheap movie Tuesday going on at the theatre nearby), my soup came out relatively quickly. The broth was complimented nicely by the spiciness (not too salty or overly sweet/loaded with MSG), and there was a good ratio of noodles and meat. Although not my favourite pho thus far, I still enjoyed my meal. Tip regarding lunch here, you need to arrive early to beat the rush - I'd recommend around 11:15ish as it does get super busy here. read more

I am declaring that I like Quynh. Admittedly it took me a while to like Quynh. I have eaten in many Vietnamese restaurants in my life time. Quynh was never one that blew my mind, it's good food. This place is amazing, I've been 3 times in the past year because my boyfriend loves this place, I've never been a huge pho person but Quynhs changed that me they have an amazing variety of pho I usually get a number 36 and their spring rolls and rice rolls are so amazing with the special sauce, the serving sizes are really good for the price and they serve the food really fast after it's made so it's really hot still. These guys are just super. They seat you and take your order quite quickly, but they don't make you feel rushed at all. I've had many restaurants try to scoot us out (on non-peak hours with plenty of tables!) as soon as we finish eating - not the case here. They don't mind if you linger a bit after a meal, have another drink, and so on. Their vermicelli is quite good and their vinegar for the noodles is very nice. Sometimes the vegetables aren't up to par, but that can be expected with such a busy joint! Definitely come here by 11:30-11:45 if you want to go for lunch, it can get pretty packed! Evenings are busy as well, what with being right beside the theatre! I usually have their Seafood Pho and it's very nice, but they don't do much deviation between the Pho broths, so they all taste really similar until you mix in some condiments or allow the meats to soak for a while extra. Their coffees are very good. I can not sing enough praises for their coffees. All of them. I've seen a lot of people here who come with children and they're seated well and they seem to give extra plates so the larger meals can be doled out between the children as well! A nice touch! The food was what you would expect, though I found the meat (chicken and shrimp in the vermicelli bowl) to be off tasting and it had a weird texture like you weren't sure if it was fresh or had been loaded with salt or msg. A great place for vietnamese although I have only had their lunch specials. These are great deals for a drink, large salad roll and a heaping noodle bowl (under $10). They switch it up to have different types of bowls on special but it is always fresh and delicious with noodles, veggies, cut up spring rolls and a meat (lemon grass chicken, satay beef etc.). Very clean, friendly and quick. Avoid going right at noon though, try to get their by 11:45 at the latest otherwise might have to wait due to the popularity of this place at lunch. read more

Me and my boyfriend have become obsessed with Pho and this is our place to go. We have been to a couple different Pho places in Calgary and this one takes the cake. The inside of the restaurant is interesting with lots of cool, oriental art. And service is always fast, unless you go at their peak times. The salad rolls are always fresh.
