Nooks and Crannies.... you can do better. And I hope for everyone out there that doesn't have a pristine house you take a minute to read this review. I love, love, love my cleaning crew that comes every 2 weeks (NOT nooks and crannies). They've been with me for years and I'm so thankful for them. But, unfortunately, it snowed and snowed last week and they couldn't make it and then they got the flu. In desperation, I called Nooks and Crannies to just maintain the house. I did a last minute booking and got 20% off. I had used them before, and they were okay, they were not to the level of my current cleaning crew, but I figured anything was better than nothing. They booked me from 4:45 pm - 7 pm. They showed up at 4:55 pm and they danced around my driveway and chatted. I don't care.... please, play, and joke. They didn't come into my house until after 5 pm. I had made sure to make all the beds, do all the dishes, clean all the counters, clear all the floors, etc. They arrived and I took the family out to dinner so we were out of their way. We came home around 6:40 pm and they were walking out the door (so they cleaned from 5ish to 6:40 out the door). They didn't dust or vacuum the bedrooms. (They were booked until 7 pm) they also didn't vacuum the carpet in the foyer. I went upstairs and did most of the dusting and vacuuming in the bedrooms in 30 minutes BY MYSELF. If the team had wanted to finish they could have. It's cool. I'm sure they were tired. HOWEVER, when I get a bill for 2 hours I get a little annoyed. It's $140 an hour. I am happy to pay and to tip on service rendered but when you didn't work the full 2 hours .... no, just no. Additionally, my husband shared with me that he overheard them arguing about the number of hours they were getting paid for in my foyer. (I guess that's what they were doing vs vacuuming the foyer rug). I emailed them manager back and inquire about why I was billed for 2 hours when they didn't work 2 hours. She responded that her crew worked "really hard" because my house was "quite dirty" IF my house was "quite dirty" why would they leave 20 minutes early?! Look. I will admit when my house is "quite dirty" but I had busted my butt this week to ensure it wasn't dirty. In fact, neighbors had come in and commented "wow your house is really clean." Is this how Nooks and Crannies keeps their clients? If you're in Cville just avoid this cleaning service..... super grumpy about this tonight and thankful for my regular cleaning crew. If you have pets, kids, you know, show any wear and tear and actually LIVE in your house prepare to be judged by this cleaning service. I don't know about you, but I work hard both professionally and domestically, and I don't need this negativity in my life. And I had the honor of paying a pretty penny for it, too. read more

I have had them cleaning my house now for a few months, and I have to say they do an amazing job. My house has never been cleaner and I am so completely thrilled with the quality and care that these ladies take in cleaning my home. If you leave dishes in the sink, they wash them...my bathroom has never been cleaner and there's no dust. I have two cats and a dog, and with a request (and small fee) they wash the walls too...I have never been happier with their service. They are also amazingly responsive on email and the phone. And customer service is important to them. Best decision I ever made. read more

I am thoroughly disgusted with how I was treated by Nooks and Crannies. I do not recommend them any longer as a service, because of how they treat their customers. I had an appointment today at 2pm. At 2:05 I called to get an update on where the team was as they are usually punctual. Ms Kim informed me that the team had been at my house for 30 min waiting and had left. I received no call, text, or knock at the door. Ms Kim also informed me I needed to be more flexible with scheduling. How can I be more flexible if no one communicates with me that they are 30 min early? Ms Kim then went on to question whether I was telling the truth about being contacted by the team. Why would I lie? I have been using their services for weeks and have always received a text or call saying the team was outside. (Because we have dogs, I had asked them to text when they arrived so we could put the dogs out back.) Because of the clear lack of customer respect and inconvenience (they can't clean today), we will no longer be using their services. read more

Highly recommend this professional business with excellent customer service. I hired Nooks & Crannies for a last minute move-out cleaning of my two story, 700 sqft, hardwood apartment. They fit me in for a next day cleaning, gave me a very reasonable estimate on the phone, gave me a solid price once they arrived at the apartment ($90) that was within the estimate, and finished in less than 2 hours. They cleaned a super dirty stove, oven, fridge, and bathtub/shower, as well as the more normal cleaning of floors and such. Things were very clean (not 100% spotless), faucets were sparkling, and everything smelled good (no bleach/chemical smells). Passed the apartment inspection with flying colors. Convenient payment options of check or Paypal after the job is done and you're satisfied. I may never do an apartment cleaning myself again, if it can always be this smooth, painless, and affordable. read more

Absolutely fabulous cleaning service in Charlottesville. I have been using Nooks & Crannies for the past year while living in the area. Kim is extremely professional to deal with (responds to emails and/or phone calls quickly) and has been accommodating when I need to reschedule. Their pricing is straightforward and reasonable. I believe that the same individuals have come to clean each time and even if not, the cleanings have been consistent if not improved month over month. They also clean everything...mirrors, window sills, hardwoods, vacuum furniture, etc. On occasion when the pollen was bad, I'd leave a note asking them to really dust - the cleaners would go above and beyond. I've used this cleaning service for a couple of years now and am happy with their service and dependability. Once the electric power went off before they were done the cleaning. They finished mopping the wood floors and came back the next day to vacuum rugs. And they are mindful of my cat who supervises their work, especially the feather duster activity. read more

Nooks and Crannies did a superb job for my move-out cleaning. They were efficient, professional, and helped me get my entire security deposit back (without needing my carpets cleaned!). I purchased a deal on Yelp for their services which helped me save about $20, but I would gladly pay full price to have them clean for me again. read more

I had Nooks & Crannies clean my home a year ago. I was satisfied with the job the two ladies did. What I was extremely disappointed with is something that was very dear to me, a gift for my 70th birthday from my 80 yr old friend was missing. I know exactly where it was left. I even tore the house apart just in case it was misplaced. I'm a creature of habit and always return items to its place. Because of this incident I hesitate to hire another crew to come into my home. Sorry, but, it is what it is. Don't know why I waited so long to write this, but we need to be careful with what we leave in view. read more

I emailed Kim to get a pre-Christmas cleaning and to my surprise, she was able to fit me in the next day. This was my first time having someone else clean my house...I think I could get used to it. I did as much "pre-cleaning" and decluttering as I could so they could get down to the nitty gritty, and they did. They cleaned yesterday and it was so nice waking up this morning to a CLEAN house. These ladies saved my day. They were friendly and super accommodating. In terms of cleaning, the are quick and efficient. They did a good job, for sure. But if you are looking for a serious deep clean, you are going to have to go in after them. For me, they got me to a solid starting point for me to get after it before my household goods arrived to the new house. So leftvfor me. We're little ( but important) things like the ceiling fan blades and blinds. I'd call them again, for sure. read more
