I called my dentist of over 10 years because I had an abscess, was running a fever my face was swollen, I was in excruciating pain and my blood pressure was high. My regular dentists office said the soonest they could see me was the next day. My husband called a few dentists to see if anyone could see me sooner and found Modern Dentistry in Cottonwood, AZ. Even though I had never been there before Dr Medina stayed after hours to see me. A staff member stayed to take ex-rays and they thoroughly explained what my options were. I was put on strong antibiotics and pain killers, was told if I developed any problems over night to call, the doctor will check on me tomorrow. I am scheduled for a root canal Friday. I am a 67 year old grandma and have never experienced such caring dental care. They are located across the street from Home Depot in the old Arby's building. Needless to say they have a loyal patient now.

All of our questions were answered and the team followed up with us via phone call after surgery. While doing the 3D images for surgery Dr. Abt found that my son had an Odontoma. Dr. Abt did a wait and see approach and a year later we came back and the Odontoma has not grown and just appears to be sitting between the roots of two healthy adult teeth. His advice was to leave it alone because the risks outweigh the benefit. I highly recommend Dr. Abt, he is conservative in his approach and has a wonderful bedside manner and staff!

I was referred to Dr. Abt by my normal dental office for a tooth extraction. I had to make an appointment for an evaluation by Dr. Abt before I had another appointment for the extraction. I'm glad I wasn't in pain to have to wait for the second appointment. The office appeared nice, with plush couches in the waiting room area. The staff (appeared to be all female from what I saw, besides Dr. Abt) was nice and efficient. When I questioned about having to come back for a second appointment, I was told Dr. Abt performs his procedures only in the mornings. So I returned two days later for the extraction. I will say that the procedure did go fast, as I arrived about fifteen minutes early to my appointment and walked back out about five minutes after the appointment time. The actual extraction of the tooth was done okay. The reason I will never return to Dr. Abt was the anesthesia part. He basically just jabbed the needle into me and it was quite painful. I know that the needle has to go in and that it will be painful, but I also know that other dentist will do things to minimize the "discomfort". I have had dentist apply a topical anesthetic to the gum before putting in the needle. I have had dentist put the needle in just a little and inject a little anesthetic before moving the needle further. And I have had a dentist jiggle, or something like that, to my jaw as they insert the needle. And, I have had some do multiple things like that to make the experience more tolerable. Not like Dr. Abt, who just seemed to put the needle in as far as he could to get it done with.

Dr. Rethman really assuaged any jitters I had about my procedure by explaining everything…read morethoroughly, so I knew exactly what to expect. He was also very honest in our initial consultation and advised against some unnecessary work that my dentist had recommended - saving me a lot of time, discomfort and money. Dr. Rethman even called me personally on the evening of my procedure to see how I was doing and let me know what to expect over the next couple of days - Nice touch! His office has a comfortable feel and his entire staff is friendly and down-to-earth. Oral surgery is never fun, but these guys make it as comfortable as possible. Quick tip - Depending on your situation, you may be able to send the X-rays that your dentist has on file before submitting to the full required pano.

The dentist complained about my dentist's work, said the crown didn't fit well (though it had lasted for four years until this incident). The repair lasted exactly 22 hours. When I returned home, I saw my own dentist immediately. He scraped off the glue, re-glued it, and all was done within 30 minutes. I can't really give this practice high marks.
