Being a newcomer to the area I had not yet found a dentist. Unfortunately a crown fell out last Sunday night leaving me in a lot of pain. I called several different dental offices but until I called Verde Dental none of them could see for several weeks or even months! Verde Dental staff was great on the phone and even fit me in on Monday due to a cancellation - and I was a new patient! The entire staff was caring and professional using ultra high tech equipment to replace my 10 year old crown. I am very happy with the outcome because it feels like my own natural tooth! Not the best! They have outdated X-ray technology and are still using large bite wings too big for the mouth. They DO NOT do root canals. I sat for over an hour in the chair waiting even though I had an appointment and was charged $120 for 2 minutes of time only to be told I needed to go to an endodontist. There was no kind bedside manner, it seemed more about the money. I would NOT go back. Plus you hear everything going on even in the tiny waiting room. I had given up hope in finding good care in central and northern AZ, procedural quality and communication were missing. This office exemplies team work, the way things should be done. Equipment is State Of The Art; assistants communicate each step of the process, nothing is done without patient's knowledge. My infected tooth was saved, additionally the porcelain-ceramic crown was made there, a first for me. I entered at 9:30AM and left at 11:00AM with a well fitted crown. The Office Dental Plan [annum] is worth the cost for those like myself with dental issues without insurance. It includes all scans, cleaning, and discount on dental work. Yes, Dr Kinney is busy. He is adjunct to my alma mater, Northern Arizona. Dr "Nami" is well trained, thorough, competent, observant, and caring. I am scheduled for another appointment last week of August 2024 with Dr Kinney for extraction and hopefully an implant. To those seeking quality care I strongly recommend Verde Dental Care. Be 1000 percent sure your insurance is active and up to date. I just paid $220 for basically nothing. I did not realize my insurance had lapsed when I moved to town. My medical insurance through my employer was still going just fine. My mistake yes but their mistake yes. The fancy x rays were $220. THEN they told me my insurance was bad. I honestly had no idea. No exam no cleaning. $220. I am going to have to have them transferred to somewhere I can afford and pay cash. I feel awful. What a mess read more

Dr. Kinney is a good caring dentist. He really cares and does excellent work. The whole staff is so friendly. Dont believe they accept my insurance but it doesnt matter. I wont go anywhere else. Competent dentistry gives way to Dr. Kinney's ambition to build a dental business empire. Once a single office dental practice serving his Camp Verde dental patients, it has now evolved to one day per week in the Camp Verde office. The balance his time is spent practicing in a newly opened second office and serving as an adjunct proffessor at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Congratulations...but it comes at the expense of previously scheduled appointments and rescheduling a month in the future. I've been waiting to have my denture implants finalized but it doesn't seem to be a clinic priority. Bottom line...research for a different dentist if you want timely service. read more

I had such a traumatic and harrowing experience at this dental office that I Had to post what happened as I feel so strongly that I sincerely hope no one else Ever has to go through such a nitemare.My original post was pulled from this yelp site . I guess because they found Something in it that didnt meet guidelines..I will do my best to recount just the facts concerning what happened and try to leave emotion out of it so as not to offend but Still state the Truth..I am reposting a shortened recount because I feel so strongly about this..People Should Know ..It was back in 2018, I was looking to have my teeth cleaned, an exam afterwards and any treatment if needed..The hygenist suggested a panoramic xray saying it would provide the most info for the dentist..she proceeded to place me in the machine without the lead apron after which I felt Not well over the weekend.. I felt like my head was burning up from the inside..I was seriously debating whether I should return to have a cavity worked on which the scan revealed..I went against my better judgement and came back to have the tooth worked on..I did not want to go thru this again at another office and have to wait for a distant appointment when this one was available, so I said Ok..When I questioned them about not offering a lead apron, they said "we dont use the apron for this scan" I went into the office in a state of Trust, I assumed the hygenist and the dentist knew what they were doing..Obviously it was too much trust and not well placed in hindsight..The dentist that was going to work on me was suppossed to be a 40 plus yr experience veteran..The fellow started working without the proper dental goggles, instead, he was struggling to see with his bifocals and had his face inches from my mouth...he started to inject the novacaine and his assistant corrected him mentioning he was looking at the wrong tooth..He begins the drilling and keeps drilling for what was almost 3hrs in the chair before completion..The work looked really bad and i just wanted out of there.I had such concerns that I went to another dentist and had him examine the work..he said the filling was not properly done, there were gaps where the material meets tooth and that what was a very minor cavity as seen in the before xrays, this was drilled so much that it was on the verge of needing a root canal. Luckily, this dentist was able to redo the "work" and refilled it properly, in about 45mins.. I complained to the original dentist office in this review and the owner apologized and gave me a refund..That did Not however compensate for the trauma I went thru with Their dentist nor the fact that I had to pay again and go thru the fixing of their work all over again not to mention, being xrayed without protection...I feel that the Practice should have Vetted the guy properly..It was Their Responsibility to have Observed him in action,Listened to the terrible feedback that was coming from his patients and Then Pulled him Earlier so that he would not have left a trail of misery behind him.The sad part is that This place may well be a good practice with good dentists...ILL never know because ill never go there again, but my experience and review may affect Someone Elses choice of this place...To that, i say the owner apologized...the dentist who worked on me was let go that day.Hopefully my speaking up this passionately helped someone else from having to go thru this..In the end, do ur research,check reviews,listen to friends who have actually Used a dentist and can vouch for him or her first hand..Choose carefully,remember you are Entrusting your most Precious possession to another person to do work on and to Know what they are doing so its done Right! This is an amazing practice! We are traveling and happened to be in Camp Verde when my husband had a problem with one of his teeth. His regular dentist has been skirting around that tooth for a couple of years until it became an emergency. Thankfully it happened in Camp Verde. The problem was solved in one day. Wow!! How can you Not get 5 stars to a dentist office that cares so much. They are VERY concerned with your comfort Denise even pain patted my shoulder during times of painful procedures especially shots. They see me on an emergency and made it as painless as possible. Even offered a yearly dental plan that help me get some of my money back for this (normally) expensive emergency. I am sorry other people have reported poor experiences, as mine have been excellent every time I visit. They have always been prompt, courteous and efficient. Their prefered client plan is well worth it, providing 2 cleanings & x rays each year for less than those visits would cost independently here or elsewhere. They are up to date with technology and techniques; fiber optic camera allows you to see what your dentist is seeing, displayed on the big screen. Dr. Kinney will offer treatment alternatives, including leave it alone for now & watch it, but he always leaves the decision to his patient, with no pressure. I am a snowbird, but I have given up my Northern provider and now do all my care here, .......wonderful people. read more

I've never been to a dentist that was sooooo pain free and so considerate of sensitive teeth. Even a cleaning can be uncomfortable for me as that cold water and air can hurt. But the tech was very patient and let me "start over" as much as I needed. Dr. Kinney is a gem. Explains EVERYTHING that he's doing and what to expect. Even the extraction that I expected so much discomfort and after pain was minimal. He's even going to be doing two implants for me. While I'm not exactly looking forward to it (who would?) I'm very confident that Dr. Kinney will take very good care to make sure that my experience will be as comfortable as possible. The only thing I would ask to change is why can't they use warm water on my teeth? And please put something on those TV monitors that's fun to watch. Like old Gunsmoke reruns or Bonanza. Great find! You would not expect this type of facility in a small town.EXCELLENT friendly staff. Dr Petterson has done a great job with the remodel and his choice of doctors is fabulous. You can't go wrong with any of the doctors. Dr Kinney is fast, gentle and knows his business. Dr Ko just did an extraction on my daughter whom was very nervous because she has never even had a cavity made her first experience a great one. Getting my wife to change dentist to Verde Dental care! FYI my whole mouth is crowns except for 3 teeth so I have a little experience. So glad I decided to go here vs. Cottonwood Modern Dentistry, which is a contracted provider for my dental insurance but they have pretty poor reviews. Being the daughter if a dental assistant, I'm pretty picky about dental offices and quality of work. Office is very modern, clean, and all staff are so friendly, professional and caring. They even accepted my insurance and did a pre-authorization for additional work needed so i know what it will cost ahead of time. And it's in Camp Verde! Happy customer here! I went in for an evaluation at 4:30 and Dr Lisa took care of me, as we were leaving someone cancelled as I was making my next appt so they asked if I wanted it. They know we are traveling and timing is important. So I took the appointment and by 6:15 I left and my dental work was finished. I have no problem with my cleaning appt. However, the care they took to ensure patient safety during this pandemic was underwhelming. The office staff and hygienist were diligent in following safety protocol. Dr. Kinney examined my teeth with mask and gloves on but when he wheeled his chair around to explain his recommendations, his mask was gone and he was about 30" from my face. When I left the office I noticed him doing the same thing to another patient. If you need to go and you're safety conscious, I suggest bringing your own mask and have it handy. You may also need to ask the Dr. to put his mask back on. When I talked to Karen, the office manager, she repeatedly insisted "This is the best we can do." According to international health care experts, the best you can do is wear a mask when you are not able to stay 6' apart. If they don't think it's necessary to follow the highest level of safety, do they think it's necessary to follow the highest level of dentistry? read more
