Highlights: 1) fully stocked kitchen, with plates/cookingware/microwave and so on, perfect for preparing that mad delicious pasta and lasagna dinner (read: carb-loading for the next day). 2) spacious rooms, super clean, and washer/dryer in the unit. I should have seriously brought my laundry from home :( 3) On the free Diamond Express shuttle route to Killington Ski Resort. It comes every hour, and there's usually enough room on board for your board/skis. Minus one star for an average hottub experience. The tub is in the main sport center complex, is lukewarm, and closes at 8 pm. What the wuttt?! Also, if you're tired of the Killington madness, the condos are at the base of Pico mountain - the lift/waffle stand was literally outside our window. The building…read moreitself was fairly new (Steve, the friendly owner, said it was built in 1980), and it had modern amenities including air conditioning that worked very well on the hot summer weekend when we stayed there, but it had the welcoming atmosphere of a rustic country inn, including quaint touches like a cozy nook for relaxing or playing chess, vintage farm implements decorating the walls of the dining area, and the pleasant smell of potpourri in the entryway. Breakfast was included, which had beverages as well as bagels, English muffins, various pastries, granola bars, yogurt, cheese, fruit, and probably other items I'm forgetting. It did not have hot foods such as eggs or breakfast meats, but it was more than enough to be satisfying. The dining area is apparently maintained 24/7 because the beverages and non-perishable foods were also available in the evening after we checked in, so it was refreshing to have hot coffee and a pastry after a long drive. The inn had a swimming pool, whose depth was marked as up to 10 feet, but what was more striking was that the pool and chairs were in a beautifully landscaped area with flowers and a pergola, so it felt more like a country garden than a typical hotel pool. The room was comfortable, the bed and bedding were fine, and it was quiet enough that I heard no noise during the night. My room also had a couch, so it felt a bit like a suite, though I don't know if all rooms have that. By comparing notes with someone in another room, I could extrapolate that each room had a small stuffed bear, which was a thoughtful touch. The room also had a very small balcony with chairs and a table, though I didn't use it because of the hot weather. Overall, I would fully recommend the Greenbrier Inn to anyone staying in the Killington area, especially because it had a comfortable, personal feel rather than that of a chain hotel. It's presumably popular for skiers in winter, but in the summer it was conveniently located for visiting Quechee Gorge; the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS), a nature center in Quechee, VT; and the Saturday night rodeo at Pond Hill Ranch in Castleton, VT.

They answered every email inquiry we had over the 11-ish months of planning our wedding within 1-2 days. And we'd never planned something like this before, so we had a LOT of questions. They made it incredibly easy to plan all the details specific to their venue (every available amenity, dimensions, etc.) without requiring additional onsite visits. They have a default Wedding Weekend plan down to a science, and respected all of our desired deviations from that default plan while still offering specific advice from their years of experience.  The venue itself is lovely. Our guests complimented the quality of the rooms and the beauty of the natural scenery. It's perfectly situated for guests to easily take nature walks, hikes, or ride to the top of Killington peak in their free time.     They provided the services of a Wedding Planner for us as part of their base package, and they 100% delivered beyond our expectations in this regard too. When our primary reception caterer failed to provide services they were contracted for (setting dishware/tableware, washing dishes, filling water glasses), Josh and Anne jumped into action and completely took over. They tableset our entire reception, washed all the dishes themselves, and filled water glasses to ensure dinner could be served as early as possible. When our caterer even forgot one of the primary entrees, Trailside already had a backup plan to order emergency pizzas from nearby and settle the cost at a later date. Even outside the scope of a catering disaster, they consistently helped us to unload and organize our décor, keep the bonfire lit and warm, and kept s'more tables and other amenities stocked. They truly did not have to perform at the level they did, but they even employed additional helpers as needed to make sure we were never behind schedule. It let us truly relax and enjoy the company of our loved ones rather than stressing about logistics.   If you decide to book a wedding at Trailside, please relax knowing the fact that Josh and Anne are looking out for you and will help steer you in the right direction throughout the process- having a very natural schedule, easy room booking process, and picking quality vendors (they only onboarded our failed reception caterer by exception to their standard list and by my wife and I's explicit request - they no longer approve that vendor for weddings at Trailside). If you're deciding between venues, my wife and I would wholeheartedly recommend you pick Trailside and sleep easy knowing your wedding will go smoothly and beautifully.

The residences were constructed in the 1860s by the nearby Whitehall, New York-based architect A.C. Hopson, and are examples of the highest Italianate style that was fashionable at the time. A creamy white marble with a slight hint of green, all from the quarries in Rutland, 15 miles to the east, is the source of their characteristic radiance. The Rutland and Whitehall Railroad was used to transport unfinished slabs to the city, where they were hewn into blocks, then shipped to market. But stone magnates Joseph Adams and Ira Allen made a point of selling most of it while also saving some to use in their own creations. Breakfast was a delightful bounty of homemade deliciousness. One morning we were served maple bacon (bacon brittle), company eggs and scones. Everything was perfect! All the hotels in the area were $250+ a night, but I saw this one for around $120 a night. Booked up the reservations and honestly I had low expectations for such a low price on a really busy weekend of the year. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and had a nice big dresser with a tv and a window A/C. We were on the ground floor right next to the parking lot, so unloading our car was a breeze. One thing we did have to do was go outside and put a towel on top of the A/C unit because the ones from floors above were dripping water and making an incessant noise. Not a big deal was an easy solution just thought I'd mention it. I love the little rubber duck they left on the bathroom sink to say hi. The bed was pretty comfy and warm and the doors had passcodes that you set yourself instead of key cards. Great because I always lose them LOL. The restaurant that is part of the hotel was also really great. We did have one dish that we did not like and they took it back and brought us something else free of charge. The rest of the food was fantastic and the staff was extremely nice. On the weekends, they have movie nights outside and set up cornhole games. Seems like a popular local hangout because every spot in the lot was taken. The place is situated on a sleepy state road with only the occasional passing car at nighttime. There are no bright street lamps or big trucks to wake you up. I slept good. On another note, everyone was nice to my service dog and brought her water. There is lots of grass areas to take your dog to the bathroom. They have bins right outside your door which is perfect for discarding the doggy bags. The only negative thing is that I think there may have been a little crack under the door or maybe by the AC that needed to be patched because every night we had bugs flying around into our room. I'm not squeamish and I live in the woods so it didn't really bother me too much. I did have a huge crane fly come in somehow and that one scared me a little bit lol (I did finally get him out though). The next day a firefly got in and I saw him flying around the room with his abdomen aglow. I escorted the little fellow back outside. Overall it's a really nice, laid back place with good food, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and clean amenities.
