Beautiful store - so clean and well organized! I love seeing how various Nordstrom stores are laid out from state to state - this one is unique and lovely! Parking was a little tricky as there wasn't much available near where we thought the Nordstrom was. Eventually we just parked and once we stepped outside we could see where the store was on the end of the Ala Moana mall. We stopped in here before my friend's wedding because our suit and dress got wrinkled in the garment bag carried on the plane. Being a loyal Nordies customer for the last couple of decades, we have always been able to have our clothes purchased from here steamed without issue when traveling to weddings or special events (and when we don't have access to an iron or steamer). I found a store associate in the mens department who rolled her eyes at me when I asked if someone could steam our garments or if I could use the steamer sitting out by the register. She asked me why I didn't have it done at my hotel, to which I replied I was not staying at a hotel. She then let me know usually alterations would have to do the steaming with fees. I said that would be fine as I'm a cardholder and have alterations benefits to utilize. She sighed and then said she would do it this time but would have to stop and help other customers if anyone needed anything in the meantime. I again said we were not in a hurry and could even leave the items and come back later. Once she turned on the steamer and realized it would only take her 5 minutes to do a quick steam to release the few wrinkles that set in during the flight, she seemed to relax a little bit. Literally 5 minutes later she handed our items back to us and then walked away. I so appreciate that she was able to do this for us, but I also left with a negative feeling in my gut. Is this just the way locals handle visitors once they realize they don't live here? Or was it just a bad day for one isolated negative experience with one associate? I'm hoping it was the latter as this store has such good energy otherwise! The other departments seemed to have friendlier employees and we enjoyed watching part of the game at Habitant. read more

I would always go to Nordstrom just to see what I can pick up and always would go online to buy things and always gotten good service. But today was a different story.. I walked in the store with my Ross bag. First I was looking at shades and the workers of course didn't help me and were just looking at me and talking stories .. then I went to the shoe department... I went straight to the sales area. And a guy came and asked if he can help me with anything and I told him what I wanted.. so he went in the back to get a sandal. Customer Service.. blah, blah, blah... Everyone keeps raving how Nordstrom's customer service is top of the line. Well, after walking around with product in my hands for a good 20-25 mins I was gonna leave the items at the register and go to Bloomingdales or even Sephora but alas my Boss is a diehard Nordstrom customer. I couldn't believe NO ONE was available to even check on me. The saving grace was a Vendor who eventually helped me grab the products from the drawer and then had to hunt down an actual employee to ring me up. I was actually there to purchase some Amore Pacific products for a Mother's Day gift but they were holding an event right next to the gondola so I couldn't even retrieve any items with disrupting their class. The Cosmetics area in general wasn't busy and it was around 6-7pm so I'm not sure what the deal was but definitely so much more options in the mall to grab things and not be ignored. read more

Specifically for tailor department. I come regular to take advantage of my card perk credit, and they used to have 5 star service. Sadly, this is the last time I will use them. Twice I have came, and twice I have waited nearly an hour for tailor service. Not sure what happened when they moved the tailor department to the second floor, but since then this place overall is a mess. Before they would take you in within a few minutes, measure you for about 2 minutes and that's it. EBar is still good though. Shop online, and go to the Rack for tailor service instead! read more

American Airlines lost my luggage-like they always do. The young man at Nordstrom took a lot of time and was very helpful in getting me clothes for my vacation. Nordstrom doesn't carry nearly enough men's shirts in big/tall sizes ( Why carry pants in 46" waist if you don't have shirts for a guy that big???) but he helped dig through racks to find what was available. I never thought I'd be into Nordstrom. I like good deals and when you think of Nordstrom you tend to think expensive. Granted that they do offer pricier items, I was surprised to find that they offer very affordable shopping as well. Customer service is great and I've had friendly experiences with all employees that I've come into contact with there. My favorite part of this department store is the baby section on the 3rd floor. They have so much cute stuff and I love that they carry The Honest Co. products, as well as Coco Moon, another favorite brand of mine. There's also a little digital activity center that my son likes to play in with me. The women's section also offers a wide variety of brands with a wide range of prices. You can get $10 sunglasses and a $40 dress with $30 shoes & look like you just spent a few hundred dollars. I like their "last chance" rack for items that have dwindled in stock. Their rewards program is awesome too! It's free and the last time I went I had accumulated a $10 off coupon that I was able to use right then and there. I think my most favorite thing about Nordstrom is the fact that they care about nursing mothers. They have a women's lounge on the 2nd floor and one of the rooms located in this lounge is specifically for nursing mothers. They have a changing table and chairs for feeding. It's great! I feel comfortable whipping out my boob for my baby and not worrying about offending anyone or suffocating my child under those breast feeding covers. It's a posh setting with a great ambiance and chic decor. I love that place. All the food places inside Nordstrom rock too! I tried the eatery on the 3rd floor, great customer service and tasty food. The bar on the 2nd floor was great for watching a football game low key and feasting on pupus and beer (the hubby loved it), and the cafe on the same floor has awesome salads, sandwiches and smoothies with a nice terrace area equipped with umbrellas and sunshine if you're up for a quick tan during lunch. read more

Favourite place to shop ever! Actually it's the only place I shop at since their customer service is second to none. I want to specially thank Thomas who's the manager at the designer shoes department. He personally took my louboutin heels to an outside shop to put red rubber soles on these beautiful shoes I had purchased a few months back from another associate. WOW. Thomas has taken Customer service to another totally different level of excellence. Here at Ala Moana, their designer collection is great, including Christian Louboutin and Valentinos. Additionally their make up staff is very knowledgeable and honest. I love their service counter for their speedy customer service when I do returns and pick ups. Five Stars for the OUTSTANDING service from Shoe saleslady, Grace V. Top notch service, professional, and patient! Thank you! My mom wanted to go to Nordstroms to look at new shoes. We walked into the store at 9:30 a.m. when they opened. We were greeted by an Asian lady who was eager to greet us and ask what we were looking for. When I told her what kinds of shoes we wanted to purchase and asked her to find alternatives for us, she smiled and said she would be right back. I noticed that she was taking a little long, and then noticed that she was talking on the phone (taking another order? Talking to a friend? Talking to another department?). Whatever. Then, the heavens opened up and Grace V. asked to help us. We gladly accepted her offer. We explained that the other salesperson offered to help us, but was not busy on the phone. We thought she had forgotten about us. Grace gladly offered to help out. Grace literally brought out 15+ different types of shoes for my mom to try on. She varied the colors, sizes (since different brands have varying sizes), price ranges, and styles. She was VERY patient and took the time to give TLC to my mom. She wasn't pushy and she was willing to help with every request that we had. Mom is picky about her shoes, so I'm even more picky about what she gets. Grace did such a great job with my mom, I asked if she would accompany me downstairs to look at the shoes in the men's section. She smiled and glady obliged! She came with me downstairs and made some lovely suggestions on men's shoes. Again, she brought out what I asked for and even brought out some alternative colors and styles. LOVED her customer service. I personally asked Grace to ring me up upstairs, so that the first rude saleslady could see the sales that she missed out on. Nordstrom v2.0 incorporates elements of Asian department stores that I miss most about shopping in the Far East. The new location is spacious with an upscale, yet accessible aesthetic so shoppers feel comfortable as they browse pockets of different designers. The new home section is worth checking out - I was pleasantly surprised and did not go home empty handed. The men's shoe department is improved with more space and a better set up. It feels less congested since it no longer is located next to the Cafe where a long line queues. Sometimes it feels odd being stared at while looking at kicks with horse hair on the heels. Stop judging, people! Rumor has it that the Nordstrom Cafe will be coming back with table service. Admittedly, I fantasized about combining the delicious and savory menu options of Nordstrom Cafe with a traditional dining set up with a view of Ala Moana Beach. A guy name Dale was SO nice enough to help my Mom adjust her Michele watch and mind you, it was few minutes close to closing time. Dale works within the Watch department, and he happened to be the person that my mom had walked to for help and he was a helpful charm. Not only did he take all his time in the world (not being sarcastic) to make sure every piece was intact as he adjust the band, the store was in the middle of closing hours and he still decided to help my mom even if he knew it was time for him to clock out and leave from a long day at work. read more

With all the changes that are happening, I have to say that I am still a Nordie-holic. Yes, I miss some of my salespersons/friends who will now be working at "the other store that must not be named". At first, it felt weird not seeing some of the usual people who help me, BUT... the staff that are still at Nordie's are the best! From my all-around "go-to" salesperson, Julie (Lancome)... to Tennile, Maribel, Olga, Pua, Kaliko, Monica, Tresslyn, Jasmine, Jeb, Teri, Kanoe, Chastine, Kris, Izra, Cindy and Serena... I can always count on them for excellent customer service and advice! Recently, I had an event for some survivors of breast cancer. These Nordstrom people went WAAAAY above and beyond to help, by way of providing some samples for the survivors. Their samples put so many smiles on these ladies who are most oftentimes not in the best frame of mind. While a little sample may seem like such a small thing, to someone who is going through the fight of her life, it means a lot! One lady remarked, "This is so unbelievably nice of them! I never went to Nordstrom before, but I'm going now! I feel like it's Christmas!" I also have to mention that Ana (lingerie) came to that event - on her day off!! Ana talked about the prosthesis program that Nordie's offers, and she even brought samples for the ladies to look at. She was so knowledgeable, approachable...and so comforting! The nurses who were at that event were so impressed by Nordie's prosthesis program, that they are going to promote the heck out of it! Just as a note: To our pleasant surprise, Ana even brought poi donuts from Kam Bakery. She told us that it was from Brian, Nordstrom's store manager! How thoughtful was that?! One of my favorite places to shop, online and in-store. Nordstrom has all my favorite brands and items. Shoes, bags, makeup, sunglasses, clothing, everything you could want/need is here. Sales happen quite often as well. Earn points when you shop too. I enjoy the fact that when I shop online, I've never paid for shipping. If they are out of stock on a certain item I'm looking for in-store they are able to check inventory from other stores and have it shipped. A huge reason why I choose Nordstrom for certain items is because of their exclusives. Tory Burch in particular will make a limited supply of a special piece of footwear and the actual Tory Burch stores won't have them. I absolutely love the fact that I could get something that not EVERYONE will have. I have 2 different footwear with the "sparkle suede" and they are definitely ones I've gotten the most compliments on and almost no one has seen them anywhere. Definite plus for me, and I've never paid full price either! Every time I've shopped at the Ala Moana Nordstrom the service is always spectacular. Everyone is very kind, welcoming and always super helpful. If I find items I'm interested in online I tend to call frequently and even then the service is amazing. I highly recommend shopping and Nordstrom. I honestly think it's pricey but I am always able to find a deal on everything I'm looking for, somehow. read more

Maybe this is not a fair review from someone who thinks buying a kid's Elmo shirt for $22.00 is a great deal. I am talking ONE shirt. The kind you see in Wal-Mart or Target. I happened to spot some really tacky Aloha shirts and wanted to know the prices of those...$88 dollars a piece. Yikes. Skip!! OK...well maybe the bathroom would be better. If I can't buy something I may as well patronize the bathroom!! I went to the bathroom, thinking it would be like those fancy places with more than a few stalls. Nope. After hiking all day and going to a local restaurant with oily mysterious goop in the hallway, this was my first chance at redeeming myself!! I see a lady come out of the bathroom and jump into it. As I turn back to lock the door, I see a lady stabbing me with daggers shooting out of her eyes. She is incinerating me with pure, unadulterated anger. Something told me I better come out and ask her why she's trying to kill me with her eyes. She said "I was waiting!!". Oops, sorry, didn't know that until you wanted to taze me down with your gaze. I let her go, as it was the right thing to do, although I had no clue she was in a line...there wasn't any. This facility is millions of dollars. One toilet?? Come on. Maybe I better buy one of those $22 shirts so they can make more facilities. Nordstrom is my favorite department store in Ala Moana. I love their new location in the new wing of the mall. The gelato bar is now completely separate and right by the entrance. I dropped by for the first time at the new location with only about 20 minutes to shop (it was after a dinner, and I figured I'd drop in since I was already in town). I found so many cute things in the BP (junior/young women) section. The dressing rooms are amazing, and they even have phone charging stations. The sales girl was so nice, they even let me finish shopping about 15 minutes after they had already closed. I'll forgive her for the fact that she left a security tag on one of my clothes when I left, which I had to carefully remove myself once I got home. The alarm rang when I walked out, but the lady who checked my bag couldn't find a sensor. Discovered it when I unpacked my purchases the next day... By the way, the bathrooms at Nordstrom are hands down the nicest in all of Ala Moana. I used to think Neiman Marcus had the nicest bathrooms, but I was wrong. It's 100% Nordstrom. read more

She was really awesome and this is no special treatment just for me they do this special treatment to all their customers, my friend that was visiting from Hong Kong came to me before and asked for my help, she was looking for a club dress and I recommended her to go to Nordstrom and she was very much impressed by their friendliness and how the staff really knows fashion and they helped her find everything she needs. Nordstrom is AWESOME! For years Hawaii shoppers had to put up with so-so selection, almost no customer service (Macy's) and/or snobby service (Neiman Marcus). But ever since Nordstrom arrived, we have been saved! Tonight, I walked into Nordstrom to shop the Early Access for their Anniversary Sale wearing an old Black Market White House blouse, cut off denim shorts and Gap slippers. I did not look like a wealthy lady (maybe a harried mommy...) but I still got the best and most respectful service. No matter which department I go to, I always feel like a welcome shopper. They have a wonderful make up department with approachable sales associates. Their shoe department is always full of high end as well as moderate brands. No matter what the price, the selections are stylish and comfortable. I first discovered the Sofft and Athena Alexander brands at Nordstrom. When you get older, comfort starts to become as big a priority as looks. Also, did you ever notice that you when you pay, the sales person NEVER EVER hands you your bag over the counter? They always take the time to walk around the counter, hand it to you nicely, and thank you for your purchase. I always thought that showed great customer service training. Lastly, we also love to eat at the Nordstrom Cafe. Everything we've ever eaten there has been delicious. My favorite is the ginger crusted panko chicken salad for lunch. The only downside is that place gets full during lunch time and sometimes you have to wait a while to get in the place. But if you can handle the wait, it really is worth it. I'm gonna share with you a secret: I rarely go clothes shopping in department stores. Actually, lately I've rarely gone out of my apartment to buy a piece of clothing anywhere! I'm uncertain as to whether it's because I've become less girly or because I want to save money. Whatever the case may be I did leave the comfort of my bed Saturday, early in the morning, to attend the Nordstrom cosmetic trend show. I've gone to Nordstrom before, however my experiences there in the past was short and to the point. I look around, if i see something I love I'll get it, If I don't I leave. The Nordstrom Cosmetic Trend Show is probably the girli-est events I've been to since I went to an all girls school. BUT, it was actually pretty awesome. What I was surprised with the most and actually happy to see, was that though there was a huge line of women waiting to get in, the staff came out with the free totes for everyone. They made sure everyone got one. Nordstrom also had FREE complimentary breakfast foods and had people coming down the line with some food AND coffee!! That was really awesome. After the show all of us went down to the 2nd floor to scope out all of the free stuff from the beauty, hair, and perfume sections. Though the staff was up to their ears in helping all of these women buy great deals, they were still very professional and as friendly as they would be if there were only 3 people in the beauty area, as opposed to 600! Their customer service is outstanding! Each and every one of the employees had a genuine smile for all of us and really made us women feel beautiful, even if we were getting our makeup done, hand massaged, or getting an oxygen facial. After I was done with all of the girly beauty stuff I hopped over to the clothing section and tried on a couple of items I loved. The girls here were super sweet as well. The one thing I absolutely hate about the dressing rooms at Nordstrom junior department is that those mirrors are horrible for us women. Now, I'm in pretty good shape, yet with the lighting and those awful mirrors I feel like a whale! Craziness! Anyways, I walked out of Nordstrom with two awesome new pieces of clothing, a bunch of free beauty stuff, and a smile on my face. I was so ready for a nap. read more

First of all, even though Nordstrom comes in second to Liberty House in my book (I truly miss Liberty House) I am so happy that Nordstrom is on the island. I have been addicted to Nordstrom for EVER. Nordstrom is a place I always feel welcome. I've never had a negative experience other than sticker shock since some of the merchandise is pricey. I ventured into Nordstrom near closing one rainy night since I needed a refill for my Shiseido compact. Again, the customer service was amazing. The gentleman took his time and actually found a better match for my skin tone since I had been spending more time in the sun the last few months. Nordstrom is probably one of my favorite department stores here on the island. The location at Ala Moana is prime and their parking structure has ample parking. Their store is huge, clean and super classy! With 3 levels, you can find the men's (clothing, shoes and accessories), active wear and kid's department on the bottom floor, along with their Nordstrom Cafe. On the second floor, you can find the junior's, women's shoes, cosmetics, jewelry and bag department. And on the top floor, that's where you can find the more fancier and high-end designer clothing for those extravagant special occasions. I'm not a ballah when it comes to shopping, so I always appreciate when I can find things in my price range. And always be on the lookout for their Anniversary and/or Year End Sales because savings on all their items are huge! And I can't rave enough about their customer service here, especially the workers in the men's department! Not only are they super friendly and helpful, but they really go out of their way to make sure you leave satisfied. When my boyfriend was shopping for a new wallet, the lady (sorry I wish I remembered her name) who helped us was very knowledgeable about each and every product she showed us and was always so kind to answer all our questions we had. She was very patient as we discussed which wallet we liked best and as soon as we were ready, she was quick to help us check-out. After being away for a long time...... I'm back!!!!! I'm a woman on a mission and when it comes to crunch time my skills get even better. I walked into Nordstrom shoe department and browsed for less than a minute and knew what I needed. I had looked up to see if I could find a salesperson and two people pawned me off to this nice young lady Jessica who seemed new or she had mad skills of carrying a great smile. Not sure if these people work off of commission, but lets just say I bought $400 shoes and was in and out of there in less then 10 minutes. (Big mistake for the original sales people pawning me off to someone else) I almost felt like pretty woman walking into a really really nice store that had really really expensive stuff and because I was in my work clothes I may have appeared to look like this place was above my pay scale. Big mistake... But enough about the pawners, this nice young lady who did service me was very gracious and made me feel like a million bucks. Best service I've ever had in a store!!! First off I walked in kinda teary eyed and sad and the girl Jennifer (lingerie department) greeted me asked if I needed help . I apologize to her and said yes I'm looking for undergarments(Spanx )for my wedding dress. She took me right away to see some options. I explained to her so sorry I'm tearing my wedding dress that I'm shopping for hasn't come in yet and the store I ordered from hasn't returned my calls for over 2 weeks . Also I just came from the store to see if I could possibly talk to someone and there was a sign that said they won't be in anymore Only by appointment. I'm devastated. She was so comforting and while I was trying on my undergarments she ran downstairs to get me muffins and said I wish I could do more to make u feel better. I was so touched by what she had done . Then I went to buy my things and thanked her for being the light to this horrible day . She smiled and introduced me to her manager who asked me if they could offer me a complementary facial or makeup session for free with a stylist. I really was so blown away . Sadly I couldn't cause I had to get my kids but I just had to share this with everyone. They really MADE MY DAY AND EVEN THO THINGS ARE STILL IN THE AIR WITH MY DRESS THEIR ALOHA AND KINDNESS MEANT THE WORKD TO ME! Thank you so much !! There was nothing my bride and I "needed" at Nordstrom while making the Ala Moana hike, so we dropped in to see the merchandise. My spouse latched onto a white hair band that she favored. At check-out Randy S helped us. He pointed out that some of the other colors were on sale. This resulted in a selection by my bride of a red band as well as the white one. Had Randy S simply smiled and cashed-out our selection, Nordstrom would have lost out on the second sale. Good job Randy! read more

Every time I attempt to try clothing on in-store, no one's around to attend the fitting rooms. If you see customers heading to the fitting rooms with merchandise in hand, take the hint! Asking me how I'm doing when I'm fed up and on my way out is terrible timing. Sticking with online shopping for clothes going forward. I'm sorry but I've given continuous chances and the sense of urgency and common sense aren' there. read more

I could not for the life of me understand what the point of this store was. It seemed like a Macy's, just less cluttered and more elegant with higher prices. That was when they first opened up shop. Fast forward to 2014. I had 8 hours to kill before a flight home. What better place to spend it at than Ala Moana? A friend and fellow Yelper, Darrel P., absolutely loves this store. I took a chance and went in again, took my time and really browsed around. It was like night and day. I found really nice shirts, some cheap, some medium priced, with very nice designs and quality. I even found some nice shoes and I am NOT a shoe shopper. The service was excellent. I had about 6 associates ask me if I needed assistance. And I like that they bring your purchase around the counter to you instead of over it. I'm a total fan now! TIP: Free shipping from the store to any US address! read more

My home away from home, love the cafe to meet up with friends very kid friendly...Always park in their structure when I'm at Alamoana shopping center, no door dings, room enough to load up the kiddies perfect for busy mommies like me! The other thing is they have a BP clothing dept downstairs with great clothes minus the crazy prices. I looove the shoe dept, and shoe repair service! And I can't say enough about the cosmetic dept. the girl I saw was Julie she is now the head management of the cosmetic dept. but the customer service is top notch I get nothing but the best help there at Nordstrom...All you Glamaholics need to attend the Trunk show, it's so much FUN!! I can't get enough of those beauty and fashion events! Oh yeah the kids clothing dept. has the best deals and the gift boxes are the cutest, my little ones love going there and getting balloons ! One stop shop for me and my babies. The husband wallet may not like it as much though, haha! I love Nordstrom and the consistently great and awesome customer service they provide in almost every encounter whether in the islands or traveling. In Hawaii, I'm still trying to get my bearings in the new store, though I love the brightness and seemingly wider selections of items a larger store allows. Yes, on some of my visits I find myself whining about missing the old store, but give it some time and I'm sure I'll come to love the new store too. In this review, I want to give a special shout out to the Bobbi Brown counter, more specifically Ryan C. who is super, duper fabulous. I seriously appreciate the high-level of customer service he provides, not to mention his skills as a makeup artist is over the moon. Ryan takes the time to know his clients, share announcements of promos and/or new merchandise, gets to know my preferences and even will text me announcements from time to time too. LOVE IT!! Kudos to the whole Nordstrom team for always being on your game and offering superb customer service to clients. Yay!! read more
