4* For being a true department store offering clothing for the family, make-up, jewelry & a restaurant. When items are on sale, the prices can be less than Ross & with more selections per size. 1* for the recent bad service. It took 1 hour to reconcile the errors for a few transactions. A return credit was shorted because an item was missing. For 2 sales transactions by 2 different people, the correct items were scanned for the wrong quantities of each. What made it more perplexing, is there were 2 different prices on the receipt for 2 of the exact same item. read more

Went for the Lego turkey giveaway and was very surprised at all the changes. The store is very clean and inviting. The cashiers are so helpful and courteous. I felt like a valued customer. I browsed through the store looking at the changes they've made. The flow is very nice. Found a tiny ceramic light up Christmas tree that to my surprise was on sale! What a great day! Macys had some excellent clearance deals and also they sold those tote bags with the Hawaii printed on them. They were cute as a souvenir to take home to the mainland. So the juniors had excellent clearance cheaper than the price posted online. Hauled the tote bag with cosmetic case from this macy's and also a white maxi dress that came out to $7 with my coupon I received from the Waikiki store. The staff here are friendly. It is not a big Macy's as you would expect from other Macys I have gone to - But the deals are not bad. She's very knowledgeable in her department and the merchandise and guided me to the perfect pair of pants. I used to work at this Macy's and the selection has really gone downhill. I tried to look for clothes, but everything seemed made for grandmas. I couldn't find anything but work clothes or dated styles. I really wanted trendier things that aren't for teenagers. Pretty much the same as going to TJ Maxx or ROSS. While there, I was bothered by some boomer who asked me where the medium clothes were. I had a purse and was shopping, so I don't know why she bothered me. I assume that she did because she couldn't find a worker to help her? I also think that the prices could be better. It wasn't really worth buying anything. It was clean though. *Late review* To start this off two things. One I'm a retail manager and have been in retail since the late 80's (Yes, I'm old) and two I LOVE Macy's. I used to work at the one in Chicago when it was Marshall Field's. My wife wanted to get some Mac products, so we decided to stop in while doing some vacation shopping. They had everything she needed and more. For the weekend it was a lot going on because of Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year, President's Day and Ramadan. So yes the area was buzzing with a LOT of people. We ended up in the Ralph Lauren section because that's another favorite of my wife's. Upon arriving in the area we didn't get greeted. We turned around and there was a lady just standing there so we said hello. She half heartedly replied back. I tried to strike up conversation saying "Hey looks like you're busy...' "I'm in retail myself. I get it on Saturday." No response...BUT every section we moved to she was right there on our heels. I was trying to let her know I knew what she was doing. I've been followed in a store before and have followed people myself, but she made it so obvious. So while my wife looked at more items this clerk decided to lightly tap my bag with her hand as if she was being playful and said "Oh you have to buy your wife something!" I know when someone is trying to check my bag for items. It wasn't as covert as she thought. We ended up leaving without getting anything in that area because she did an excellent job of making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Yes this happened some months ago but I'm still not over it because it shows how much we still need work in this country with assumptions and accusations. Love Hawaii. Shopping at Ala Moana Center... the largest outdoor shopping center in the world! I really try to avoid this shopping mall... it's so gigantic! I'm afraid to be lost! However, Macy's is an anchor store with 4 levels of retail therapy! It's on the Waikiki end of the mall - on the corner of Atkinson Drive and Ala Moana Boulevard. I usually go up the ramp on Atkinson Drive - near Ala Moana Hotel and Mahukona Street - and park at the top. It's bright and less crowded! I enter through the door for Liliha Bakery. The women's department is right past the convenient restrooms! My goal for this visit was to look for a handheld rechargeable vacuum cleaner. One of the guys at church said that he saw one for $19.99. I wondered why he didn't get it... haha! I looked online at Walmart and Target. They were out of stock on the less expensive models, so, the Macy's vacuum seemed to be the best deal. I went as soon as I was able, but the price was only good on Black Friday... Shucks! Since I was there, I decided to get it. I'll test the vacuum out on my car, which needs to be cleaned anyway! This review is specifically for Benefit at the make up department of Ala Moana Macy's. I went there looking for some new eye brow makeup that I saw online (yes, I can be easily influenced). Brows aren't really my thing, so I was completely lost and needed guidance fr. I was greeted with a big smile by Dawn. I let her know what I was looking for and she was quick to make recommendations. She spoke of their waxing services for brows, which I had no idea they did that there! She was able to squeeze me in and asked me if I had 40 minutes to spare. She explained the entire process and used the same products on me that I was looking to purchase. The brow waxing service was $27 and the rest of the items came out to about $75. Dawn was super helpful and I will definitely go back to see her. I also met another makeup artist there, Royce. He was so sweet and he said "we are going to help you, you came to the right place". On November 22 in AZ, I bought the Versace Dylan Turquoise set $115. It's a good deal I thought for both a 3.4 and 1 oz. sprays. But today I check my app and with the Friend code, it's now on sale for $97.75. The 3.4 oz I gifted and left the box with the receiver of the gift n AZ. And here I am in Hawaii. But I had the emailed receipt and was hopeful that they would allow me to get the lower price. I went to one fragrance counter and the employee disappeared. I noticed a bunch of customers but no one to help. I went to the closest counter, the Estée Lauder Counter, but she said she only helps Estée Lauder customers and I should go over there --pointing to another fragrance counter closer to accessories. At this counter the employee said she couldn't help me without the box. So I asked if perhaps some other department could help me like customer service. And she said, maybe and printed me toward the Kapiolani side of he store. Val at this counter ably helped me. She looked at my emailed receipt on my phone and completed the steps to refund me the difference in price. Thank you Val! Deducted two stars for the employees lack of knowledge re: directing customer to the right area for a price change. And insisting that I needed the physical box. read more

Went to Macy's cosmetics dept (won't name the cosmetic brand, but a french cosmetic company, pretty expensive line LOL) to buy a holiday gift. I was browsing when a sales lady approached. I asked her a few questions (it was about a gift with purchase) but decided to step away to think about it because it was more than my planned budget. Went to dinner, then came back to check it out again. The lady that helped me wasn't around, so I tried to get attention from another lady there that was walking toward the register. I said, "Excuse me..." to get her attention and geez, the look on her face. I said "Oh, are you helping someone else right now?" and she mumbled something but her expression was "I'm too busy to deal with you right now, go away" and was working on ringing someone up. So I let her do what she needed to do and I was looking at things on my own when the lady I talked to earlier came back. She noticed me and said, "Oh, you're back" So I let her know what I wanted to buy (and confirmed the gift with purchase that I wanted). She went to the inventory drawer when I hear, "NO! You weren't here right now!! That is MY sale!" It was the lady that gave me a disgusted look earlier scolding the lady that just helped me. Even my friend was like "Uh oh, they're fighting over your sale" So the lady that initially helped me stepped down and gave the mean lady the sale. Oh I see, when she was sure that I was going to buy something, I suddenly become her customer? Really? LOL It was such an ugly scene. I felt SO BAD for the lady that was kind and was helping. I should have said something right then and there to give the other lady the sale. I'm not sure if they're on commission or what but good grief - so uncomfortable. If you want a sale, then don't look at your customer like they're a burden and then ignore them - only to swipe the sale from someone else later. I guess there are bullies everywhere. Zero Service. Inferior quality mattress. Non-existent help. I've been going to this store for 5 years. Never once in 5 years has an employee been working in the mattress department when I have tried to find an employee there. I wound up buying a mattress online, but the mattress is defective, it's broken down, and a senior has fallen out of the bed numerous times because the mattress has a broken down section. The foreigners who work in customer service have no clue how to reach furniture customer service. Emails to the furniture department have never been answered. The foreigners in customer service call center say they have no clue how to return a defective mattress, and to go to the store and ask someone there. They give you the phone number of the store operator, not the mattress department. When I went to the mattress department, the phone was ringing off the hook. No employee was anywhere around to answer the phone. The is a permanent sign that says to scan a QR code, and an employee will be with you. It's a lie. You just wait while the app says it is locating an employee. No employee ever comes. You will be screwed if you buy one of their mattresses. read more

Just a really quick review. I went to Macy's yesterday and was shockingly surprised of how much of a sale they were running. Every single department had some thing that was on their "Last Act" rack. They even had a small section of shirts and pants that were listed for below $9.97. I went a little crazy. $45 later and eight shirts and two pairs of pants later. Yes, you read that correctly. I walked out of there with eight shirts and two pairs of pants all for just $45. What a deal. I don't know how long this is running for and I worry that Macy's is going out of business, but if you're looking for cheap shopping, go no further than your local Macy's. I went to Macy's in Pearlridge. Sales staff was super nice and the entire sales floors were super clean. Items were put away and those sales racks were actually on point. Run with the sale is still going. You won't regret it. read more

I was disappointed with the cashier experience. I had two different shoes and wanted the matching shoes from back. I had my card out ready to pay. I waited in line for over 10 minutes. When it came to my turn the cashier told me to sit. I waited over another 10 minutes while she helped 4 other people. I finally gave up and walked away. I then decided to by chocolate for my daughter. I went to two counters where there were no lines and they sent me to another register that I never did find I put the chocolates back and walked away. I was surprised by this because the first cashier in petites was nice, kind, helpful, and fun to talk to. I will go back to petites but not shoes or buy chocolate. read more

I was shopping in the jewelry section about 1 month ago and saw this cross...multi stones with diamonds in the middle of the piece. The clerk told me it was sold...what a disappointment at 70% off in the clearance case. The clerk, Marilyn was going to make it possible for me to purchase because it was in the regular section with 40% off and another 20%. They had another 70% off but Sunday was last day. Marilyn spoke to supervisor. End of story...I purchased the item at a very reasonable price. Since gold when up...so did silver...sterling, not plated...look for SS or 925 on silver. The cross has 925 and 18k....gold rope accents on cross. It's unique... best look cross in show case. I put it on 12 month interest free and we'll worth it. I had finished a chocolate diamond piece...my bubble gum machine ring...lol! This helps me with several little disaster this week. COVID19 protocols are maintained...Ciao!!! read more

Yesterday 9/24, I went to Macys Fragrance dept to purchase Michael Kors perfume. I was saddened to find out by the vendor that the perfume was being discontinued. As Grace the sales representative overheard our conversation she stepped in and told me she will check if there was any in the back that may be still available. I browsed at other products but was still sold on MK perfume. To my surprise Grace came back with 2 different MK perfumes and I was super stoked and happy. One was 5.4 oz and the other was 3.4oz. Since I was traveling back to Kauai without any checked luggage I was unable to purchase both. I was quite sad because the one I really wanted was the 5.4 oz. Upon ringing me up, Grace excused herself and came back with a sample of the perfume that I really wanted and told me I can have it. She definitely made me feel she valued as a customer and she listened to All my needs. Her outstanding service is hard to find and I appreciate All her help! Given Kauai doesn't have a Macys, I will continue to be back to Macys Ala Moana for all my shopping needs and definitely see Grace again! In comparison with other Macys around the US this store is decently kept. Other Macys have a tired feel however this Macys has a great vibe. It maybe due to the location and Liberty House legacy. The make up counter and shoes on the ground floor floor feels alive and it's great they still carry smash box. The basement children's and men's selections are not the greatest but the offerings are decent with Nike, Polo, and other popular brands that are not too unique but reliable. The upstairs women sections has a large variety of wear no matter your taste and size. Household goods with pots pans and luggage has what you need. It's great the store took over the Toys R Us..there's a large variety for all ages of toys to choose from. Overall one of the better locations! read more

I love this location because it's so huge. My daughter wanted to look at the toys r us section and it was bigger than any of the of Macy's. This location had more toys and selection. The Macy's near us at Pearlridge doesn't have as much and the location in Kapolei. I think there were 4 floors we traveled up on by escalator. I didn't get a chance to look at the last act in the women's section as I spent so much here last month lol. Trying to pay down my credit card. Macy's in Ala Moana Center, formally Liberty House location, is nearest to the Ala Moana Hotel. There isn't anything special about Macy's so I never had a reason to review them. It wasn't until we had to purchase some inexpensive heels in their shoe department. We came on Labor Day between errands and the place was busy. Fortunately, we met Patrick and he was able to assist us with options. As busy as they were, he took his time to help us and checked on sizes for both options Mink was considering. He was also able to help our friend that we bumped into so she wouldn't have to wait longer for an available sales associate. Patrick didn't take long to bring out the boxes of heels to try on. After making a decision, Patrick was the cashier for our friend and us. We were shortly on our way on a busy shopping day in the mall. Macy's management should definitely recognize Patrick's exceptional customer service. If we could rate him, he earned 6 out of 5 stars! ISO brand new everyday sneakers. Here I go to the men's shoe department aka Foot Action on the 1st floor. As I pretty much have an idea which style I like, I ask the sales associate for my size. He comes out with the last pair in my size which was actually the floor demo pair. I say to him "This must have been a popular style." He tells me that they've had it for a while, but suggested that I go with the same style in a different color. Even better. I'm sold!  What else shall I write about Macy's.
