Visited Nordstrom at The Short Hills Mall over Christmas week. Despite it being a busy week, the store was well stocked, clean, and neat. We had a very positive service experience in the shoe department. The sales associate was helpful and patient, grabbing us a few similar boot options to try, beyond what we asked for. She didn't mind that we put the boots we loved on hold and came back to purchase them before leaving the mall. We made sure that she got credit for the sale. We had a great experience in the mens' denim department as well - the employees were really helpful in explaining the styles and sizing of the various brands. We also purchased a bag in the contemporary section - the sales associate there was actually pushy and salesy, not someone I'd normally want to work with or support, but we needed the gift so made the interaction short and moved on. Overall we enjoyed our shopping experience at Nordstrom, and we'll definitely return when we're in the area. If you don't live near a Nordstrom, they offer free shipping and free returns. And their customer service across stores is almost always top notch. read more

The mall that caters to a certain clientele. Not a huge fan, but it does have certain stores that are worthwhile to stop in and see. If you're going to the Rolex store, save yourself a trip. They are very biased on who they sell to. FYI: They offer valet parking (like many other malls these days), and they have electric charging spots. read more

NORDSTROM CAFE..... Cleanliness needs improvement. Person at the order desk and waitress should attend charm school. Seriously unfriendly and unprofessional demeanor. Majority of the tables were empty, waited much too long for the food. Sounds like the kitchen staff were having a grand time as the small group of customers were kept waiting. Only came in last two times to rreturn items purchased online, but I must say over the years, I've always received friendly and efficient service here whether it be with returns, purchases, fittings, gift wrapping etc. The mall and store are empty-ish due to COVID-19, but they seem well stocked despite being closed for months. The annual anniversary sale is starting a month late this year (at all Nordstrom stores - August instead of July), which is par for the course. I like the way associates greet me in a timely manner and offer help. One lady walked me to my destination to make returns today. read more

I was happy to see that the Anniversary sale was going on and they actually had merchandise to show! I was looking for shorts but found a great dress! I thought it was one price but with the sale it was less that 1/2 of the original price! Now that was great. I had a weird experience however- I asked the sales person where I could pay my bills She said I could help you. She then said "how much would like to pay?" I asked "how much was my statement?" She then told me she could not help me with that information. Then what's the point?! I ended up calling the Nordstrom cc line and finding out that way- lol. It was pretty funny. Definitely simple returns, clear and efficient on the ground floor. No hassles and friendly staff. I was perusing their socks and shoes, for which there was a bit of chaos; different pairs all over the place. Lots of people around and many people sifting through the piles of shoes and socks in the area, making it a little hard to get through. This is a wonderful Nordstrom! their selection is enormous their customer service in every department that I've shopped at is impeccable and the store is extremely clean! Bathrooms are always clean and well stocked. I don't care for their restaurant on the third floor much but they are making improvements with it. They have a large shoot apartment for men and women and I always find so many things that I love in the store this is definitely my favorite Nordstrom in New York New Jersey. read more

Easy to return. In terms of selection and service, it's just bad. They have an expensive section and the sales lady are basically trying to scam you and push you into buying overpriced stuff that will go on sale in 5 months. Thank god for the ease of Nordstrom returns. Like there's this pushy lady who pushed a horrific coat on me. It wasn't on sale. Now that I'm seeing it online, it's marked 50 off and more. The coat overwhelmed my petite frame and was super itchy. Beware of the pushy sales ladies. It's alright to try on but they shouldn't be following you around and pushing you to buy. Lackluster selection and lackluster service compared to the NYC flagship. Only pros are its location in the mall- it's by Vince, Mackage, etc in case you can't find that brand. read more

Was the victim of identity theft for thousands of dollars of Nordstrom gift cards. I contacted a number of people at Nordstrom customer care and gift card departments and got the run around. I learned that the cards were used in multiple states, and that the Nordstrom fraud department declined all of the transactions from the fraudsters. The cards are locked, but Nordstrom will not refund me for the charges resulting from the identity theft. Nordstrom kept the thousands of dollars resulting from the fraud and are useless in helping to rectify this issue. Nordstrom's secret is that they benefit from gift card fraud. I'll never shop here again, and neither should you. Customers have choices to do business with ethical companies. Nordstrom is not one of them. read more

I visited the store this evening to purchase a dress for Christmas Eve. I approached two employees who would not open the fitting room for me said to "go on in it's unlocked" it was not. I then decided I would just try it on at home and purchase it outright. I approached three employees doing nothing to purchase it and they told me they could not ring me up but if I walked to another area an employee there would. This is why everyone shops online and why this brick and mortar will soon be gone. Train your employees to help the customer or don't and be obsolete in the near future. read more

Your never going to build your customer base if you stand around looking lost starring at the ceiling or especially your phone. Took about 5 minutes for me to find a salesperson that I knew in women's shoes because not one single person acknowledged my presence. Wow, times have really changed. I have been a Nordstrom shopper ever since they opened in the Garden State Plaza over 20 years ago. The reasons for this vary but have less to do with price than value and service. If I look hard enough I can find virtually anything they sell cheaper. So is the case with any upscale retailer, really. People go there because the experience is a pleasure and, above all, it's easy. I mean, why pay more if the process is tedious? Nordstrom in Short Hills totally dropped the ball today and dropped it so hard and far that I question whether I will ever return to that location. I went in with a really easy request. I needed a black cashmere v-neck sweater. Went to the mens department and asked the associate where I might find one. Clearly, he had no idea. After pausing to think for a few seconds, he recommended I look in the Mens Sportswear Department. And pointed in the general direction. Really? Fair enough Wasn't like I asked for anything obscure. Just a plain black cashmere v-neck. Undeterred, I walked in the general direction that he pointed in and came upon a sweater table that was actually a heap of randomly placed items of various sizes, colors and styles. I asked the woman there if she had said item and, she recommended I plow through the pile. Graciously, I passed and walked out of the shore along with my Nordstrom card that has, over the years, seen much use. Not today and maybe not ever in Short Hills again. One other word about the inventory I did see. It was crap. All of the sweaters were made in China. Now, I understand the need for Nordstrom to compete merchandise wise but with whom are they competing? Brooks Brothers and Neiman's both stock Scottish Cashmere, widely accepted to be the pinnacle. If I want to buy cheap, I'll save money and go to Macy's. Total disappointment. read more

They have very stylish brands and although they were expensive (looking back), I went out of my way to go here. It's a very clean and organized store. While driving I heard the notification for a voicemail and it was Renee. I arrived and she was in the middle of another transaction which took 20 minutes but she greeted me as soon as she saw me. She took my sunglasses to the back and cleaned them for me and provided me with a case. I read online it doesn't come with a case if ordered on Celines website. I'm channeling my inner KimK; so it's a must have. I am happy with my purchase. She made sure to offer to order me another pair that wasn't available in the store but I accepted this one. I am mostly an on-line shopper but had a free morning and decided to look for shoes. I am very picky and do a lot of walking so comfort and good fit are critical for me. The shoe department was very busy but Kain Robinson came up to me and offered to help-and he really did. I tried on a bunch of shoes, he was able to make recommendations based on size and foot shape that I would never have been able to on my own. I left with a pair of shoes that I am very hopeful about and if they work, I will order in many colors. Kain is a gem. Then I thought, maybe Norstrom would have the eyebrow powder I was having trouble finding. Again, it was super busy, A manager saw I was lost and helped right away connecting me with Yanira Castillo. She really listened and was so helpful. Sadly, the product I wanted was out of stock. Love the store and staff does a great job in customer service but while trying on shoes I accidentally left a shopping bag on the sit. When I called the shoe department they did find the bag I mentioned I would return the following day and pick it up. The young man informed me to to pick it up at the customer service Dept on the 2nd level. I returned the following day, They looked everywhere and couldn't find the bag, they went to the shoe department spoke with the young who took the item upstairs and gave it to someone who is not working on the day I was picking up my item and now are unable to find it and told me to come back or they would ship it when they find it after they contact the employee who put it away. I asked if I or they could look through the individual bags in case they misspelled my name (bags are in alphabetical order by surname). I asked to please find the employee phone number and try and contact them and I would wait. My intention was to wear this item for the evening. I'm very frustrated waiting here to see if they would be able to contact the employee who happens to be off. It's been over 25 min. I'm so disappointed with the inability to secure this purchase. Btw they can't give me another one bc it's out of stock. I'm hoping that they will be able to contact their employee and find where it was placed. Can't understand why it's not with all the other purchases for customer pick up and how it was misplaced when this was the same reason it was not left in the department that it was originally left at. Is the Short Hills Mall retail's last stand? I don't know (and have not been in many malls in general over recent years) but parking is always a challenge here if you want to park near one of the anchor stores (like Nordstrom). Beyond that the standout that still is what Nordstrom stands for is service. There are actual humans in the store looking to help you and by looking I literally mean they are not hiding behind the racks hoping they are not found. They are helpful and the check out process is just the same with someone walking you to a register and (for me at the time) finding out the one thing I wanted was on some kind of markdown even though it did not say so. read more

This review is specific to the Mens Suiting area. The mission of my visit was to figure out which brand of suit would fit best. Over the course of an hour, I had 3 different employees come approach. While I appreciated the help, the advice I was given was not welcome. I was told that suits that did not fit well, looked great. Issues such as major shoulder divots, gaps around the collar, and the jacket being too tight resulting in a X being formed across my gut. Seriously, watching 1 episode of Mad Men and they would have a clue. I was able to determine which brand of suit does indeed fit best and will try another location at a later date for a high end suit purchase. read more

Their house brand socks are the best. Love this place to death. The shoe department is a highlight as well. Never have to search for help they appear magically at all times. My wife bought me 2 pairs of jeans and I took them to Nordstrom to get altered. No, the jeans weren't purchased here, but over the past 20 years I became accustomed to a long-standing Nordstrom policy to accommodate me by allowing me to pay for alterations of items purchased elsewhere...and I in turn accommodated Nordstrom by using the opportunity to shop there contemporaneously. No longer! I was told that Nordstrom will not allow me to pay for alterations for items not purchased there, and moreover every alterations order requires a proof of purchase. I guess I can forget about bringing in anything I bought at Nordstrom over the years without a receipt firmly attached. To add insult to injury, the salesperson who explained this policy had all the charm of a Border Patrol agent as she examined my merchandise and price tags, finding them dissatisfactory and directing me to my local dry cleaners for my clothing alterations needs. Throughout this visit, nobody asked me about the countless suits, pants, shirts, and shoes I've purchased at this Nordstrom and others. Nobody even bothered to look me up and ask me if I needed anything else (for the record, I needed more pants). Instead, I was turned away from...gasp...paying Nordstrom for alterations, and as a result lost the opportunity to turn this visit into additional revenue. I am sure there are 1,000 reasons why this new policy of refusing alterations for items that were not purchased at Nordstrom was put into effect. I am sure a Saks or Neiman's-purchased pair of jeans is so different than the ones stocked at Nordstrom that their tailors would be overwhelmed by the complexity. However, is there ever 1 good reason why anyone would want to drive any customer away, especially one who chose to shop elsewhere and gave you an opportunity to win them back? Goodbye Nordstrom! A few weeks ago, I realized that the stars were aligned in such a way as to call for a new suit. We had survived the end of Mayan time with nary a bump. Besides which, I had started a new job and was booked for a long cruise with an assortment of "formal" dinners. SInce the lamented end of Geismar Kaplan in Upper Montclair (and the prior closing of Bragg Menswear lo these many years past), the availability of quality men's suits has shrunk to "da mall." So off to search Saks, Bloomies, Macys, Brooks Brothers, S. Klein on the Square, and Nordstrom. I admit that I'm a hard fit, what with the third leg and second head and all, but I have always had good luck at Nordstrom, so I ended up there. Besides, I regularly shop there for shoes and shirts. So, after trying on suits from Hugo, Emiliano, and those guys, I found a nice suit from Joseph Abboud - actually not made in China (how is this even possible?), tried it on, had the tailor called out with ruler, accent, and chalk. Measurements taken: shorten the sleeves a little, let out these seams a little, take this in a bit, regular break on trousers, 1-1/2 cuff, etc. I went back to pick up the suit last night and try it on and starting looking good at once. Oh, no! No!!! They had taken a nice suit and turned into a pin-striped potato sack. Everything was wrong! Pants too short and with 1-3/4" cuffs! Jacket let out to much to lose all shape. Terrible! Nothing hung right, there were folds and creases everywhere. The suit looked cheap, and ill-tailored. Gee, maybe it was made in China, after all? They offered to re-do, it but that would have been like a bad cosmetic surgeon offering a middle-aged Park Avenue chipmunk a mulligan. Besides, I don't have the time for this any more. They credited me the suit, and lost a customer for their suit department in the future. I do not know how they could have screwed up this badly. Oh, the other thing: I had picked out a particular shirt I wanted for next week and it was to have been shipped from another store... you guessed it: it fell through the cracks and the shirt never shipped. What's wrong with Nordstrom? Doesn't anyone there care any more? Did they ever? Any suggestions for a really good men's clothing store, fellow Yelpers? read more

You think Short Hills Mall, you think upscale. That was definitely not the experience I had on my first visit to the mall. I had looked online for a pair of shoes and noticed that Garden State and Short Hills were the two locations closest to me that had what I was looking for. It was Sunday, Garden State was closed, so I found myself at Short Hills. The first employee I asked if they had the shoe I wanted said "No, we don't have it. All we have are the colors that are out on the table." I was a little confused because when I had checked online, it stated that the shoe I was looking for WAS available at Short HIlls Nordstrom. But who am I to question an employee who should KNOW what they have and don't have in stock just by looking at it all day long? Since I had the same color shoes in a different style, I walked around the store a bit to think if I wanted to pursue the same colored shoes. About 10 minutes later, I approached another employee in the shoe department to see if they had the 2nd color choice in my size. She went in the back to go and check and she didn't have my size in the 2nd color choice...BUT...she had the color I had been looking for in my size!!! It baffles me that for someone who works partly off of commission, would shrug me off so quickly, yet it took the 2nd sales associate all of 5 minutes to take a quick look in the back and bring out exactly what I was looking for. Better she get my money than him, but I would definitely think twice before trekking back out to this Nordstrom location. read more

The Nubian Brand is a long awaited lingerie brand that many have been waiting for. The style colors are those that resemble many skin tones. Well, this week I visited the Nordstrom in Short Hills and was told by a lingerie associate "we are never going to carry that brand" I'm cautious in my review but will await a response from someone in authority as to whether the brand will be carried, now or in the future and if not, the. Why. The inference of the associates reply was borderline and had undertones of racial innuendo...that is once again why I will wait to hear a legitimate response before commenting further. read more
