I stopped by this Ulta Beauty location recently and was disappointed by the lack of customer service. When I entered the store, the female employee at the front didn't greet me and actually walked away. As I continued browsing, I noticed another customer walk in and be greeted right away, which made me feel the employees were picking and choosing which customers to greet. While I was shopping, a male employee named Jared (with long greasy hair) seemed to follow me around the store but didn't say hello or offer assistance. The whole experience felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I usually enjoy shopping at Ulta however this visit really missed the mark in terms of basic courtesy and professionalism. I hope management addresses these customer service issues so everyone feels equally welcome in the store. I will no longer shop at this location anymore. read more

I have been to the Ulta Beauty in Cedar Knolls a couple of times and always had a great experience. If I can't find what I'm looking for, Nicole, the Manager and the staff are knowledgeable of everything that is there and they quickly help me find what I need with some great suggestions for my face wash and perfume. I don't normally provide negative ratings on Yelp unless the experience was absolutely horrible. And this Ulta is the worst! I rarely wear makeup so shopping at Ulta is not my typical store. However, this year, I got married and I had to experiment with different types of makeup. I came to this store often throughout the year. The first experience was awful. The cashiers were rude and low class. I thought that maybe they had a bad day so I just let it go. Six or seven trips later to this Ulta store, I will have to say that I may have experienced 1 cashier who was somewhat friendly? She was fake, but at least she gave it an effort to be friendly. Today, I visited the store again because I was desperate and needed some last minute nail polish. Again, the cashiers were rude. NONE OF THEM WANT TO WORK! God forbid you ask them to ring your items up or do something that is actually in their job description. If there is a website where I can rate this Ulta, I will do it. read more

I came here initially to just get my hair done for a wedding. From start to finish in that part everything was excellent!! The girl who washed my hair (whose name unfortunately I didn't catch) was so sweet and pleasant. Heather, who did my hair was amazing! My hair came out exactly how I wanted it and she was also friendly and pleasant. The even better part of the experience was going through the makeup section and meeting Lauren. I was looking for foundation and she took me through and found two for me. The first one of which was absolutely perfect. After telling her why I was there she said "Oh! Do you want me to do your makeup?" From that point on, I was in love lmao She picked out the perfect makeup, shades everything!! At the end she wouldn't even let me tip her. One stop shop. Jamie at the salon has made me feel so good! My hair is now the exact color with low and hi lights so well placed. The cuts are amazing too. She always asks what I want and makes me feel like a partner in the creation. I view her as an artist. She also does my lashes and I couldn't be happier. I have been to many high end salons and she rivals them all. Now on to Pauline at the Benefit Brow bar. She's just a love. She walks me through what she's doing and asks along the way to make sure I am comfortable. My brows looked a mess before she got done and now they look sleek and perfectly shaped. The staff at this Ulta Beauty is rude. The cashiers get attitudes if you don't want to give your number to sign up for rewards. Also, the floor staff talk to each other more than they help the customers. You literally have to break up their huddle to ask for help despite them observing you searching for items. This is the third time I experienced poor customer service at this location. I won't use this Ulta moving forward. Back to Sephora I go!!! read more

I was an employee of an Ulta store for about six years. I moved to Morristown last year and was so happy to see the store opening up right near me. I went in for the grand opening and several times after and honestly I was quite disappointed. The staff at that time was not very friendly. I remember walking in a few times not even being greeted her and asked if I need any help. Even if I didn't it was nice to be acknowledged and when I was an employee there it was so often stressed to greet everyone as they walked in if I was able to. Honestly I haven't really been to this store much recently because I was turned off from my experiences. Today I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted by 2 people, most likely managers when I walked in. I was also asked 2x if I was doing okay when I was shopping which I appreciated. The store was extremely clean today. I've noticed previously that the displays were always so smushed together and thought that it was much easier to navigate through the store today. read more

If I could give a negative, I would. Go to a real salon. Went to a young woman stylist back in December and thought she was a good listener, however, I found out the hard way that she is a amateur. I am not sure if Ulta encourages their stylists to continue education, but I hope this stylist someday sits in a chair an experiences the thoughtlessness and disrespect as I did by her not listening and paying attention to detail. She bragged how she had hair that was every color, but I should realized she was not bragging about how experienced she is and how she takes her job seriously. What she must realize is when you have a customer that is 56 years old sitting your chair, hair is not the same as someone that is in their 20s, 30s or even 40s. Hair becomes thinned...hair is frail and yes, hair become sacred. She is too young to understand. I stated my hair was fragile and thin. I had it highlighted a couple of weeks before by another stylist that is gentle with my hair. She used low heat, low volume bleach...and handles my hair with care. I told the Ulta stylist not to use high heat. I told i only wanted a trim and she showed me what she was going to do...1/4" I told her NOT to add layers because my hair will split, frizz and fly away. My gut told me not to go because I was getting more compliments on my hair since it was long and heavy and freshly colored. It had weight and volume but I needed a cleanup. I thought this young lady listened last time and would again. Unfortunately, I have inches off my hair. She added layers. My hair looked as though it was lightened again because she fried it. She frayed the ends when I asked for no layers. I have straw hair falling in front of my face. I asked her not to cut the front...she cut off inches. I have chucks of hair missing from how she was blow drying my hair with high heat and metal brush whipping it back like she thought she was some rockstar stylist..ie...this "trim" set me back a year of now trying to repair my hair. She compromised every strand. I have broken hair everywhere. I have many pictures of a week prior and then after...it is awful. She should realize that this affects self confidence and hair does not grow overnight especially for older clients. Ulta needs to invest in educating their stylists. I am so upset. I hope someday I can forgive her, but for right now, I will never set foot in that store again. read more

I can't say enough about Jamie from the Ulta Salon! She has been doing my color, cut and extensions for over a year and I will never go to anyone else! I literally go once a week for a blowout. Not only is she an amazing stylist she has become my friend in the process. I look forward to seeing her once a week! I get so many complements on my hair! Can't recommend her enough! read more

Definitely the best Ulta in the area. Has a huge selection. Carries more items than any of the locations around here. I find that they have a lot of stuff that other location don't have. (more perfume selections, different lotion brands etc) Well stocked. Zero complaints! I'm not sure what the negative reviews about the customer service are about. I haven't had this issue at all. Just left there today and everyone was pleasant and pretty helpful. read more

Terrible customer service. I was in line to buy 2 items. There was one cashier assisting a customer. Another sales associate looked at me and walked away. Later two customers waiting to check out stood in a different position. A few minutes later, the cashier is done with her customer and tells me that I'm standing in the wrong position and helps serve the other customers. Surprised to see negative reviews about the staff. The store is clean and they always have what I am looking for in stock, unlike Rockaway that is perpetually out the products I use. It is usually quiet too and its spread out enough you can shop without bumping into people. I recently wanted to change foundations and was impressed at how helpful the cosmetics saleslady was. Ask for Melissa if you are looking for help with color matching. She is pleasant and big help. I've never had to wait long at the registers either. Also check out the clearance shelves toward the back of the store. I have gotten some great deals on products that are usually out of my price range. read more

Horrible customer service. Both times I went I was one of two customers. Had to approach someone for help during my first visit and she acted like I had so completely inconvenienced her. I was ready to drop a pretty penny that night because I wanted a change with my make up, but decided not to because of this lack of help. Second time I went in, I was THE ONLY customer. Three associates were by the cash register, barely acknowledged me, and continued on with their conversation. Not once did someone ask me for help. I stayed for half an hour wandering around trying to find the product I needed. Once I found it, I paid, left and will never go back again. Oh, and these 3 people continued their stupid conversation while I paid. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! read more

Most of their employees have little to no knowledge of the products they sell. There is never more than one cashier at a time. Livingston store is better and Sephora is better for product knowledge all together. read more

I used to love going to Ulta to get my hair done and I was so excited when they opened the Cedar Knolls location because it is closer to my home and work. Unfortunately, this salon has a terrible time retaining stylists so it's impossible to establish a relationship with any stylist. I had scheduled an appointment online and then received a call that the stylist was no longer there. I was offered an appointment with another stylist so I scheduled that appointment for a Friday. I received the text confirmation a few days before the appointment and it said Thursday, so I called to get it corrected and the salon said they didn't even have me on the schedule for Thursday. It's just not worth all the hassle, especially since they charge almost as much as a stand-alone salon. read more

I made a hair cut appt with the "senior stylist". During the wash, she used extremely hot water.lm which I should have told her not to but didn't. As she massaged my scalp I was actually hearing my sensitive hair break as she was rubbing in a cicular motion the conditioner into my scalp, not my hair. my ends are dry not the top. Then afterwards I was telling her the type of cut I wanted and she wasn't really responding, kind of acting like she didn't know what I was talking about and said I had layers which i didn't. As she was blowing my hair out I noticed the ends in front looked more frayed than before! She also burned my ear really bad with the hot brush when I asked her if she cut the front because it looked dead. The ends had this burn effect. Maybe the scizzors were dull? Or it was the scalding hot water? have no idea but I left there looking worse than when i came in and payed 65.00 for it too. read more
