Visited most recently February 3, 2026. Ordered something online and was picking up an order but thought I could also get a few samples while at the store. There seemed to be a bunch of people working yet no one was able to help grab some samples. Everyone all pointed to 1 lady that was clearly occupied with a customer. At first, this store can be intimidating, but I needed to get an eye shadow palette and foundation. There are plenty of makeup consultants to help. Ashley helped me with finding the right shade of cream/powder foundation. With the eye shadow mini palettes, she showed me a few options and gave me her recommendations. As I was waiting in line to be rung up, another consultant stepped in and helped me right away. She even got me to sign up for the club rewards. Located in the Short Hills Mall near the Macy's, this makeup and perfume store had a little bit of everything, it seemed, but not everything (no Chanel makeup, just perfume, as an example). Everywhere there were samples, sponges, q-tips and paper so you could try out and smell and taste(?) everything - it made for a bit of mess and a lot of the samples were almost all used up (plus really, sharing makeup with strangers seems.. odd). Sephora branded items are cheaper and probably just as effective as lal the name brand items. Still amazing on how much a little tube of eye cream or lipstick can cost. Yet, still super full, and unsurprisingly, not too many people looking to help me out (I probably stick out like a sore thumb as I was just buying a gift, I clearly don't use makeup). The staffers only paused chatting amongst themselves when I found them upfront sorting through some of the boxes of makeup people had thrown around. read more

However, I made a purchase that was just bizarre and has left me wondering what in the world is going on at this location. Something is definitely amiss and the resolution was just as odd. Upon being rung up, I was walking out of the store and just so happened to look inside of my bag. I immediately realized one of the items I just paid for was missing. Thankfully, I noticed this while still in the store. A gentleman that worked there immediately brought me back to the register to see what happened, only to find the item sitting behind the register in-front of the cashier that ran me. Ok. Still not sure how all of my other items made it to the bag except for that one but decided to let it be. The cashier then asked me if I paid for the item. Wouldn't she know? She just rang it up? Trying to cover your tracks much? Yes friend. The item was paid for. What the heck? Fast forward to today, I'm unpacking my bag of items and there are packs of moisturizing wipes in there. At first thought- oh nice! They must have had a give away last night, cool! .......and then, I checked my receipt. NOPE! The cashier charged me for two packs of wipes I didn't buy, were never in the in store shopping bag I gave her, and have zero purchase history of. Great! I called the store and spoke to a manager. She asked for images of my receipt. I emailed them right over, explained the weirdness of the entire experience etc. She looked into the matter and called me back stating what I had already told her- the cashier rang items I wasn't purchasing. Ok.... The resolution: drive back to their store (half an hour away from my home) return the two packs of wipes and they will refund my card. (Cue the head scratch) Correct me if I'm wrong but that's the same as me just buying an item and returning it..... so the cashier kept an item I paid for until I caught it, and then charged my card for things I wasn't buying, and I now need to drive an hour round trip to return two generic packs of Sephora wipes to get my money back for her mistake? Awesome customer service experience all the way around here folks! I've asked for the store manager to call me back. Not sure what to even expect if this is the level of customer service. I really like this Sephora location it is very clean and they have really good Covid 19 protocols implemented. The employee that work at this location were very nice and they were very knowledgeable about the products. I went because they are the only store that carries sulwhasoo products in store and they were very nice at giving me samples and providing feedback on the products I was curious about. Awful experience today, rude staff. I was at the store purchasing blush when a sales-person approached me and started asking about my skin care routine, which is fine and can be helpful. They then proceeded to admonish me because of my minor acne. I shared with them that I am under a doctor's care and also have severe Crohn's which adversely impacts my skin. She was not empathetic and continued, to the point of highlighting my twin sister's skin and telling me I should follow her skin care routine. I was so embarrassed. Please educate your staff on medical reasons for skin conditions... many disabilities are not visible. My sister and I will be sure to share with all our friends and their mothers who shop at this store to now avoid it. Hope to see some training in place for your staff. read more

I likely was just followed in the store. It's one thing when they ask if you need help but this one woman with brownish blonde hair and dark highlights just kept staring at me in the front. As a black woman, I'm all too familiar with being profiled. But there's a lot of black workers there so I would hope someone would be smart enough to hide their racism. It's really hard to say if she was just being nosey or not (she damn sure wasn't being helpful and didn't offer to help) But why did I go from one side of the aisle to the next and she was in the next row and also came over to the other side like right after. And every time I looked up she was looking at me. Why cuz I have a big bag from a different store and a book bag? It doesn't nor should it ever matter!!! I was gonna just bluntly ask her if she was following me as I was leaving but her coworkers were around at that point and I didn't feel like having a debate with 3 or 4 people. This should never be tolerated whether she was just being racist or socially awkward with poor people skills in a customer service role. And after dealing with her a couple minutes, the person that did come to the front and asked if I needed anything seemed like back up. It's really hard to read. I just side eyed her a few times and left it at that. Oh and I could've bought more but I decided to just buy my sister's birthday gift and head out after that. Fantastic customer service. From the moment I walked in the door, I was happily greeted by the staff and allowed to browse. In every section I browsed someone would greet me and ask if I was finding everything ok. I was not, so the help was welcome. After I made my selection the cashier confirmed my purchase was a good choice, which made me more comfortable. Great looking store members with excellent customer service. This location has serious issues. First and foremost, my friend was followed around the store. She's Black and I'm white. We were browsing separately and I noticed that an employee was tailing her from a few aisles over. I went over to my friend to see what products she was looking at and the woman immediately walked away once she saw that we were together. So openly racist, and clearly my friend isn't the only person who has had that kind of experience here. On a much more minor but still negative note, the staff here are just straight up rude. I went in to shop as well as to raise an issue regarding a foundation I had purchased. After using it with no issues for some time, it started to smell really bad, and I just wanted to know what the issue might be. I showed it to an employee and she couldn't have been more condescending. She sneered at me and said "You're not supposed to keep it in direct sunlight. If you don't take care of your products, this can happen with time. We'll exchange it but we don't usually make a habit of this." Then she walked away to the counter, and I followed her after having to recalibrate my brain to accommodate this response. How exactly do they decide which customers to take a verbal dump on? Is that part of Sephora's training? She ONCE AGAIN reiterated that they don't usually allow exchanges and pretty much dropped the foundation on the counter in front of me after angrily tapping at the register for a few moments. It was such an insane experience that I actually thought I had done something wrong until I left the store and the illusory mist cleared from my eyes. I've worked in customer service and I get that bad days happen, but this woman seemed like her whole life was a bad day from the way she treated me over a simple issue. Mind you, I NEVER ASKED for an exchange. She acted like I was putting the damn world on her shoulders. I went to this Sephora to attend a false lash class. I had a great time with Kristen. I selected a kit and at first it looked like it would just be us. But another lady arrived. Kristen was so professional and patient and knew instinctively how to maneuver the both of us. The other lady needed a lot of hand holding where as I was more independent. She exlained everything to us in detail and left no questions unanswered. The store is your basic Sephora layout - crowded! But the SAs were pretty friendly The manager could learn to smile more and be less militant looking, especially when given a compliment. But she relaxed after a few minutes. Ok so let me start out by saying I had high hopes for this store. All day upon getting off of work, one of my highlights after work would be shopping in Sephora to support Rihanna's new line and splurge on some new makeup. Once I walked into the store, I thought the person at the end of the isle that seen me hopelessly searching for something would come up and ask me if I needed help; didn't happen. I had to look for her and ask her where Rihanna's make up line was. Once I found the section, I was in desperate need of figuring out which foundation to choose, I had to look for someone to help me. I was introduced to a very nice looking young man with pink hair and high energy which I loved! I then told him I wanted to purchase the foundation he recommended, he told me he was out and then pulled out a machine to swipe my card to have it sent to my house. I was somewhat fine with that because I have to "assume" the sale in my line of work also, BUT then after the transaction went through, he walked away to chat with another co-worker and customer all together without returning!? Overall, I was very disappointed in this store. I came in ready to spend a lot of money on different products but after the customer service experience, I only purchased (1) foundation. I have many friends who shop only Sephora. I don't really get it, but ok. Makes them happy. I'm supportive of that of course. This is a nice one though. Usually not too crowded, its a fun store to visit. The salespeople here are creative and enjoy their jobs, I like to see that. I visit here whenever I'm in the mall. Came in here yesterday to be color matched with my daughter. The employee who helped us acted very put out that we weren't thrilled by the products she showed us. We both were looking for a natural finish, but what she led us to was much too heavy (there were even brush lines on my daughter's face after she put the product on). I didn't even look like myself, the color was too dark and it wouldn't blend in with my neck. She got visibly upset when I suggested that we didn't like what we had on, and she actually huffed away, storming off. Only one associate was nice enough to listen to me about my skin concerns with regard to a primer and suggested a good one. (She's a redhead). However, we didn't feel comfortable with our experience, and left empty handed for Bare Minerals, which was much more helpful and enjoyable. I hadn't been in a Sephora in years, and this guarantees I won't be returning. They've lost that personal touch. read more

First time in this sephora location and I can only say amazing things about this a particular store comparing to other locations. The store is well lit and very welcoming! The displayed and nice and clean, free of dust! (Very important for me in a beauty store) Products are well organize and fixture are specious perfectly so you have plenty of room to shop around. I was literally standing there for 10 min waiting for someone to meet and I was approached by 5 associates asking me if I needed any help or what I was looking for! They really care about me and the customers around me! GREAT SERVICE! Everyone seems so friendly and approachable! SEPHORA - Pretty and well organize store - Cosmetics & Beauty Supply Near Me - Short Hills, New Jersey

For being located inside of the Short Hills Mall, I'm surprised by the low level service here (with maybe even a hint of racism). You would think Sephora would put their top-notch employees at this location considering the number of other high-end stores there are inside of this mall. Let me preface by saying that I am probably one of the few men who has been a Sephora customer for almost a decade (I'm big on face products/serums/cleansers/toners/masks and body scrubs/lotions/sprays) and subscribed as a Beauty Insider. And, I have never encountered such an awful experience with a Sephora staff member. It is nearly impossible for anyone to help you at this location. I'm not sure if it's because there's a lot of people or the staff members don't want to help. But, there is definitely a lack of service. I came to this location on November 23rd, 2018 around 6:00pm, and I thought it would be nice to purchase cologne for my dad and my uncle for Christmas. But, I wasn't sure what scent would be best, so I wanted to grab a few samples to bring back to my mom and my aunt. After a few minutes without anyone to help me, I approached an older Caucasian woman (named "Susan") to see if she could help me with samples. So, she was finishing up with another group (Caucasian group) with a bunch of perfume samples. I had 3 colognes that I wanted to take as samples. So reluctantly, and with a bad attitude, Susan went ahead and gave me the 3 samples. As I walked away, I noticed one more cologne that I thought would be nice to add, and she told me, "you already have 3, try back another time." WTF! This old lady really needs to check herself. I was really offended by this comment. First off, I didn't even know there was a 3-sample limit (because I don't normally ask for samples). Secondly, I had noticed that she packed like 6 or 7 samples for the previous group. And, I wasn't sure if it was because they were Caucasian and I'm Asian? Or, maybe I should've had one more person with me, so that I could get that 4th sample? Or, maybe she was too lazy to give me one more sample? I'm still unsure and perplexed (also a bit disturbed) by what she said to me. I had submitted a complaint through Sephora, and they were going to investigate what happened and forward the complaint directly to the store. But, they never circled back. Figures, since that location doesn't seem to value customer service. Why would they follow-up about a customer complaint? But, as one other Yelp reviewer had pointed out, it seems like the employees at this location are hesitant and stingy about giving out samples to even the most loyal Sephora customers. I hope that other customers who've faced a similar situation to also write about their negative experiences. They might as well just close this location if they don't want to provide the high level of service that Sephora is known for. read more

I went in today looking for a new foundation. I have really bad social anxiety. So me being awkward towards the workers. Maybe made them assume i was trying to steal. Because i was asked if i needed help like 30 times by the same person. Which i get is there job. But jesus!!!!! Anyways a lady (lightskin, short, heavy working today. (08-14-2021 around 12:15pm) ) helped me get a new foundation. First. She was trying to say an orange colored match perfectly. ( i looked like trump). So i insisted on getting a lighter one. During all of this. The worker had the testing products beauty blenders they use to match foundation. And she dropped one on the floor. I (because I'm so freaking polite) picked it up for her like "oh here you go" she then says. "I left it there for a reason.. I'm not about to use it on your face. Are you serious (haha) leave it there " i just picked it up because i thought she dropped it by accident ! I'm not stupid. I didn't think she would use a dirty ass beauty blender on my face. I then leave it on the makeup counter. She then grabs it. And throws it on the floor.... Aside from being loud asf. she then throws it on the floor. Make me feel so freaking EMBARRASSED. I just let her finish matching me. Grabbed a couple more items and left. I felt so humiliated. I'll stick to online shopping. read more

LOVE THIS SEPHORA! Willowbrook used to be my go to but, once I experienced their lack of customer service, I came here and will continue to keep coming back. I went earlier in the week because I received a 20% off coupon for Rouge members and had been meaning to check out Fenty. I really wanted to be color matched and this woman (I can't remember her name but she has teal-ish hair, curly, and looks fabulous) helped me find my shade in Fenty. She really took her time with me and we tried different shades to find my perfect match. My friend wanted to be matched as well and, although we couldn't find her shade, she took time with her as well. Everyone is super friendly and attentive. I know some people think it's annoying when people keep coming up asking if they need help with anything but I see it as a sign of "you appreciate my business and would like to keep my business" which is the ultimate sign of customer service in my opinion. read more

I like Sephora...should I return my manhood now? So what it's a perfume/make-up store with a small section for men...I still like it...a lot. It's my go to spot for a "night on the town and need to make sure everyone can smell me from a mile away" cologne. The staff is always so helpful and patient. The customer service here sucks. Why do I have to hunt around to find an employee to help? And then there's only like 2-3 people tops behind the counter? Normally I don't expect much with any Sephora because I've never had an over the top experience. BUT today was beyond ridiculous. For once I knew what I wanted, especially since I was on a tight schedule. I had to be in and out. I wanted two products and found one out of two of them. The other one wasn't on the shelf so I assumed they were out of stock. Before leaving I figured I'd at least try and see if they had it in the back. One employee was chit chatting with a friend, another one was helping someone else, another one ran to get the phone right when I looked at her and told me to wait. All I had was one simple question and everyone looked at me And told me they were busy with something or just ignored me since they were with someone else. Finally the lady got off the phone, opened the drawer below the product and told me they were sold out. She shrugged and said I could order online but that's it. Very dry. So now I know to just open the damn drawer myself and see instead of having my time wasted. Wow! I cannot believe no one has reviewed this Sephora. I have been long resistant to Sephora because of its sensory overload. However, I was in the mood to try new eye colors and wanted a different product that I usually get from Bloomingdales. i walked into the store and the nice associate must have seen the look of confusion on my face as I tested various liquid eyeliners. She immediately walked me around to the brands that I researched online and then sat me on a chair to allow me to sample product. Each station was equipped with various cleansers, make up removers, tissues, q-tips, applicators and mirrors. When this associate asked me questions about what I wanted from liquid eye liners, she immediately surmised that I would be happier with waterproof eyeliner pencils ... MUCH less expensive than the product I originally wanted. I wish I knew the associate's name as she was super helpful as was her male colleague. I am extremely brand loyal but found some new Makeup Forever, Urban Decay, Lorac and Sephora brand product ... thanks to the associates who are extremely knowledgeable about brands and complementary shades. They are true professionals and they are NOT high pressure, which makes me more comfortable. I am very happy with my purchases there: eye pencils, blush, and other accessories which ironically, were less cost than I had originally budgeted. When I went to check out ... the cashier introduced me to their Beauty Insider program which enables the shopper to get deluxe size free samples for every $100 purchased (similar to a grocery store key tag). I come here for the Men's section which could be bigger but there is still a decent selection. Sales are nonexistent but it's not a discount store. Service is efficient and the people know what they are talking about and can suggest substitutions if you don't see exactly what you are looking for. read more

I love Sephora. I shop here all the time and their products are fabulous but I feel compelled to write a review about their customer service. Today I went there looking for a new foundation and a sales associate came up to me and asked if I needed help, I politely said no, thank you since I don't like people being overly helpful to the point where they hover over you but she was insistent on helping me find my correct shade so I let her match me. Not complaining about that at all, however... When she found my shade she put it on one half of my face to show me the amount of coverage and it looked no different than the other side of my face without any makeup. I asked her if another foundation would be a better fit and she said "No, this is amazing! It looks so good on you! You just have to use a lot of bronzer to add coverage" I'm not going to drop forty bucks on a foundation just to end up caking my face with a pound of bronzer. There's nothing I hate more than unknowledgeable sales people who will say anything to you no matter how dumb to try to get you to buy something. I would stay wary of the people who claim to be makeup artists at Sephora. Every employee's makeup I have ever seen there is god awful. It's really embarrassing considering they're trying to sell people cosmetics. I wouldn't trust anyone's opinion at all. Test things out for yourself and you be the judge. Don't get coaxed into buying something just because someone who works there hypes it up. read more

I love Sephora. It's everything a girl could ever want all packed into one space. I don't go to department stores for cosmetics anymore because there's so much variety here! I was in for the 20% sale over the weekend, and I found the service really helpful. I assumed it would be packed (which it was) and that I wouldn't get any help, but I did. One girl in particular must have spent about 45 minutes with me --- she helped me find the perfect shade for my hazel (in between brown and green) eyes to help bring out the green, applied makeup for me + showed me how, and found me an amazing Ouidad curl product (which I am immensely happy with! already received several compliments on my hair after only using it once!) This is by far my favorite Sephora. The staff is amazing and so much fun. I take the classes and have learned so much. Kevin is one of my favorites for makeup and Ronnie, she is my fave for skincare. The whole staff is warm and welcoming. They take the time to really help you with what you're looking for no matter how long it takes. If they can't answer it they will find some one who can. I also love when they had a specialist for a particular brand in the store. I've been there so much I give the staff members I've come to know hugs, we catch up on stuff and everything. The best Sephora of the many I've been to Well lit, well organized and fantastic customer service. They'll be moving this week to a different location on lower level of this mall. The sales associates know their products and how to apply them. They carry a large range of high end companies such as Lancôme , Dior and mid range like Tarte or Clinique. Their store brand has some good products in the line as well. I've been to Sephora in many different parts of the U. S. and this location is one of the best and also cleanest locations. read more

I spend waaay too much time here - it has everything I love and some stuff I didn't know I loved, but then love at first sight. Sephora is one of those stores that I wonder how I without before they came to be. Anyway, the trick to not being overwhelmed is to not be on a "mission" every time you walk through the door. A few trips spent browsing and touching and sampling are needed to get the lay of the land. Once you know where everything is and how the place works, it's cakewalk. read more

The store is clean and the staff was very friendly and overall helpful. However, this is the first Sephora I've gone to where the person who helped me was extremely insistent on what I should be purchasing. I've never had this issue before and it was quite annoying to be honest. I literally had to say no to purchasing something she suggested 5 times before she stopped. On top of that, she just kept bringing up issues with my face that I don't find to be an issue and wasn't asking for an opinion on! She wasn't even paying attention to anything I was saying about what I wanted and kept steering me away to products she was clearly supposed to be pushing for whatever reason. This is by far the BEST Sephora I've ever been to. Every time I go there I leave happy and spoiled. The staff are knowledgeable and make helpful suggestions (not pushy). They are always accommodating and provide you with samples if you ask (always with a smile, and are usually generous) especially if you are having conversations about the products you are wanting to try. Even when the store is packed wall to wall with customers they take their time and make sure you are pleased with your products. Super clean and welcoming atmosphere. Always up to date with the latest/current cosmetics and huge selection compared to other sephoras.I will continue to be a patron of this specific sephora when I purchase products in store. read more
