I don't like this location inside the mall. Whoever moved the store from the original location made a huge mistake. That said, Nordstrom is still a great place to shop for shoes, jewelry, gifts, and professional career clothing. When it comes to discounted clothing deals, you can find better mark downs here at Nordstrom than shopping at The Rack. I highly recommend Nordstrom. I have been buying shoes from them since the 1960s when they ran Rhodes shoe department in downtown Tacoma. Back then and through the 1990s they carried narrow width ladies shoes. Those sizes are scarce now. Fortunately I can now wear medium width. I do like their cosmetics department. I had a very disappointing experience at the Nordstrom in Tacoma Mall. I waited for a long time to get assistance, but the staff repeatedly ignored me. I was hoping to receive a sample, but unlike other customers, I was never offered one or given any explanation why. What made the experience even worse was how unfriendly and rude the employees were. Their attitude came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, and I felt like I was being treated differently. Customer service is supposed to make people feel valued, but this experience did the complete opposite. I expected much better from Nordstrom. I went to the lingerie department for a fitting. I came in just fine. I got measured by an associate, and she left me in the dressing room for 30 minutes while I was waiting for a new bra! I got dressed and walked out with no sight of Que at all. Not acceptable! I called the manager and she apologized for this. Well, I'll be honest... Nordstrom and their clothing for men doesn't exactly hit the mark for me. I mean it almost does but not quite as far as men's clothes go. I am most certainly a clothes horse and have a variety of styles from punk, goth, retro kitsch, rock star look, brewery shirts to even a skater types of clothes. I even have stuff that doesn't fit into any of that and I just had a weakness for it at the time. One would think I'd succumb to many shopping sprees for clothes frequently with not much of a stringent process on what to buy but having a large wardrobe has actually made me very picky about what I buy... depending on the store of course. Being a mall walker especially during the winter months sends me through Nordstrom's at the Tacoma Mall quite often and my eye often wonders as I pass through the men's section but so far I'm still a tough sale. I have purchased items from here in the past but it is infrequent and what I purchased was from their underwear section for men. I have bought a few briefs here that are very well made and have fun patterns to them that I have been pleased with. A lot more interesting than the Hanes tightie whities. This is a part of my particular and stringent process with clothing as to have good underwear. But the selection here changes as one would expect and while finding a couple magnificent briefs here my last walk through in this section had mainly boxers and boxer briefs which isn't exactly my preference. And that was about all they had was this type so I didn't pursue browsing any further. Another Yelper wrote a review that item selection at this Nordstrom's isn't as good as some of their other locations and while I cannot confirm this it wouldn't be surprising as many of the retail stores in the general area I live in are considered smaller model stores which also means less of a selection. One thing I love with this location and maybe each location has a different look but around Christmas time they put up beautiful decoration displays and I always got to take some pictures to enjoy and post to Instagram. This past holiday season they had a great big and impressive menorah as well. There is a coffee shop near the mall entrance that is I believe a part of Nordstrom's. They have their own Yelp entry but unfortunately I am not too impressed with their pastries or coffee but that is a whole other layer of pickiness aside from the clothing shopper in me. read more

Absolutely Terrible Experience with Manager Katie!!! I had one of the worst customer service experiences ever thanks to manager Katie. She was extremely rude, unhelpful, and clearly had no interest in resolving my issue. I came in to return an item and not only did she refuse to process the return, but she also provided zero explanation or assistance. When I asked for more information or alternative options, she flat-out told me there were none and made it clear she didn't care about helping me in any way. Her attitude was dismissive and disrespectful the entire time -- she talked down to me, interrupted me, and treated me like I was a nuisance instead of a customer. I left the store completely frustrated and shocked by how poorly I was treated. If this is the kind of person left in charge of customer service, I seriously question this company's priorities. Do you remember when Nordstrom was known for customer service? It's not their strong suit now. Nordstrom leadership, are you surprised sales are down? Imma clue you in on why. In shoes, I stood in the middle of the area holding three shoes, turned in a circle, and nobody would make eye contact with me! Had to follow and get the attention of a salesperson who was on her phone - who walked right past me! Then in makeup, walked through the whole area with a handful of things for 5+ minutes before I found someone unoccupied. The absolute worst was upstairs in women's, when not a single salesperson would look my way, including the two behind the counter who were free but chatting with each other. I stood by the dressing room, walked into the dressing room, walked out of the dressing room and over to where they were chatting. I asked if someone could let me into a dressing room, and one girl did not say a word and walked in front of me, opened the door, and did not say a single thing the entire time. I asked her name - it is MacKenzie. That was our whole interaction. Really horrible. From now on, I will shop online and will go to the men's department to make returns I bought half of what I would've had I had excellent service. I can buy from a wide variety of stores, and I don't need to be ignored at Nordstrom. read more

I'm not sure what has happened to Nordstrom. I used to be a loyal customer, but over the past few years, their customer service has significantly declined to the point of being almost non-existent. This isn't just about the Tacoma store--it's an issue with Nordstrom overall. First, it's incredibly difficult to find anyone to assist you. Whether you're trying to find a different size, use a fitting room, or even make a purchase, it feels impossible. There have been so many instances where I've been wandering around with items in my hand, searching for a salesperson to ring me up, only to give up and leave everything behind. Most recently, I purchased a dress, and the zipper broke shortly after. I brought it in to see if alterations could fix it, and the solution they offered was for me to buy a zipper at JoAnn's and bring it back. When I asked if I could simply exchange the dress, since it was still in stock, they said no. Mind you, this dress was purchased two weeks ago and was still available online. Another example: I bought a pair of boots online the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Less than 24 hours later, they went on sale. When I requested a price adjustment, I was told no because it was a "limited sale." Frustrated, I returned the boots and purchased them directly from AllSaints. Instead of doing a $50 price adjustment, Nordstrom lost my business entirely. Finally, a friend and I visited the Bellevue Nordstrom to refresh our makeup routine. We were prepared to buy everything--skincare, foundation, eye shadow, blush, mascara--but the women in the cosmetics department were visibly irritated when we asked for assistance. They kept responding dismissively, saying, "Everything is out; just try whatever you want." Disheartened, we left and spent over $2,000 at Sephora, where the staff was more than willing to help and take our business I have such fond memories of Nordstrom; picking out my back to school shoes, having lunch in the cafe with my grandma, and going on shopping adventures with my girlfriends. It truly breaks my heart to say this, but I think my Nordstrom shopping days are over. Until they return to being service-oriented, properly staff their stores, and embrace the customer-focused values they were once known for, I'll have to take my business elsewhere. read more

Wifey and I were window shopping at Nordstrom and we encountered Emilie at the men's shoes department, I must say what an amazing person she is! I could tell right away she knew her shoes. While waiting patiently for her to finish with a customer, she approached me and asked if I needed anything. I asked for these New Balance 1096r in green and if they had it in my size, she left to check. Shortly she came back and said there was a last one and we need to ordered it online since there were none in stock. Not only she helped me with that but she price match it lower for me. I'm just in awe with her amazing customer service experience. I've never encountered that type of self detail and help from her. Her continuous communication is very rare. This is a fine location. We came here and my husband was looking for a computer bag and we found a great one. The people here were totally nice and helpful, as I have come to expect. But the guy working with my husband went above and beyond. We actually went to Nordstrom Rack to get the same bag for less, however, If I had to come here, I would. I have shopped at Nordstrom for years south center, downtown Seattle, Scottsdale AZ because of the quality of their clothes and especially their customer service. But I don't know what has happened to the Tacoma mall Nordstrom's but it was the worst experience I have ever had. Shopping for bras is not my favorite thing to do in the first place, but because of some changes to my body, it was exceptionally difficult this time and the girl that was supposedly supposed to help me didn't do much of anything. She quickly measured me left me in the room for a very long time brought in a handful of bras and left for me to try them on by myself and them never had that happen. They always are very attentive and helpful. She left me in the room again for a very long time. I even opened the door and said excuse me several times nobody answered, and nobody came to check on me. I'm just disgusted with how I was treated. I finally put on my jacket to walk out to see if somebody would come in and help me to find her waiting on some other people at the cash register having left me for a long long time she said I'll be with you in a minute. I'm busy And it still was a long time. I finally chose one by myself with no help from her and came out and had to stand there for another long time waiting to check out I have spent lots of money at Nordstrom over the years as far as I'm concerned I will not be going back there again, even though it's more convenient than the other Nordstrom's. Saying that I'm disappointed is an understatement. I have just moved back to Washington having moved from Arizona and found the Tacoma Mall Nordstrom's to be the worst Nordstrom I have ever been in. I was trying to buy a car seat and one worker made it harder than it was because I'm assuming that he either didn't want to grab it for me or didn't know how to work the system. I went to Nordstrom knowing the car seat I wanted was in stock, but when we went to check out the worker told us there wasn't any in stock, not even any different colors. He told me I can order it online so I was going to do so and it said "pick up today" but the worker then told me that once the order is placed even though it's not in stock it will instantly appear (his words!). I lingered in the store for a while trying to wrap my head around it and to try to place an online order for pick up that day. But I then decided to go to a different department and asked an associate named Mi-Ron if they had the same exact car seat in stock. Within 5 minutes he checked the computer, saw that it was indeed in stock, grabbed it from the back, and helped me check out! He even offered to bring the item to the exit, which I didn't take him up on but it was a nice gesture. Big ups to this employee! read more

It's hard to relax and browse when you're approached every few minutes by a new person asking if you need help--if anything it makes me, personally, feel uncomfortable & rushed. I have had poor service experiences with Nordstrom in general. Specifically, in downtown Portland, I visited three different departments and received no service or even a greeting, except from the security agent. In Tacoma, where I am writing this review, I was in a line and the salesmen passed over me to ask two other women if they needed help. After asking for the manager, the issue was addressed. At the cafe, several salespeople told me about a promotion during the anniversary, but at the bistro, I was told I couldn't get it. Again, I spoke to the manager, who addressed the issue. The only reason I gave Nordstrom three stars is because of three exceptional associates who always greet me and engage in conversation. Daphne in the beauty department is highly knowledgeable about all skincare and makeup brands. KimAnh, a personal stylist, always tries to find the items I want and keeps me up to date on the latest trends. Lastly, Addie in the restaurant provided me with wonderful service, despite the Tacoma store frequently losing my items. The store managers also promptly addressed my concerns. With many shopping alternatives, I am uncertain if I will return to Nordstrom due to the poor service. read more

She sized me correctly, picked a nice variety of bras for me to try and was a great listener in making some changes based on what was working best and what colors I was looking for. I usually love going here. The ladies in the intimate bra & panties section are amazing. Had a strange interaction with employees near Free People in the store. A couple of them acted rudely when I said I needed to try something on. Three of them were standing there and two of them were acting annoyed that I asked for help. But one of them turned their back to me and blatantly ignored me. It was weird. One of the employees was apologetic for this. I finished shopping at Dior makeup and thought I would try the cafe again. The last two experiences were not great with service/consistanticy but I thought I would try it again. It was my last time. I decided to try a glass of Rose wine. There were two one the menu. My question " can you tell me the difference between the two rose's wines you have listed?" The person behind the counter corrected me that there was only one Rose on the menu, referring to a Sparkling. I said" I am referring to these two wines", pointing at the menu. The employee then says, I am not trying to sell you this Rose. "So, can you tell me the difference between the two Rose wines?" My basic question could not be answered-- I left without staying to eat lunch. I will be back for Dior but never for the cafe. I hate buying bras and my friends all know this so they suggested. Nordstrom's because of their legendary great service, so I went today. There were three women working and the department was otherwise vacant. I looked through several racks and grew frustrated so I asked for help. The young woman said she'd look in back and then she disappeared. Finally, I found a few to try on and as she was unlocking the dressing room, another young woman asked if I'd found everything I needed and I told her not exactly. She said she'd look, then she disappeared. I found a bra that worked, dressed and came out. All three young women behind check out. One other customer. So I went and found another color of the same bra I had in my hand and went to pay. Even though three behind the counter, I had to wait for the clerk ringing the other customer. When it was my turn, the clerk innocently asked if I'd found what I needed, and I replied that I had but with no help from the staff. So then she rang up my two $88 dollar bras, and asked if I wanted a bag. I'm yes? She then charged me for the bag on a $176 plus tax purchase. I walked away. You expect me to pay full retail with zero assistance and you charge. E for a bag for lingerie? What am I supposed to do.? Walk out carrying two bras and get stopped as a shoplifter? I left the incomplete transaction and the store. This is why retailers are dying. Nothing value added. I came home and ordered online. Nordstrom's. Put a fork in me. I'm done. read more

After sitting way too long with dirty dishes on our table someone eventually checked on us when I alerted them that we ordered more food. Our chicken tenders and fries arrived cold and sad. Im 6 months postpartum and of all the things I'm self conscious about with my new mom body, it's my breasts! Kelly made me feel beautiful the second I approached the desk asking for help. She swooped me in to the dressing room and got me measured, left, then promptly returned with a handful of bras to try. I explained I needed at least two everyday bras; one in nude and one in black. She had me in and out of at least 15 styles in only about 10 minutes. I didn't feel rushed, but more thankful for the opportunity to really see what was out there and to figure out what I liked best. Get into the dressing room and the shirt isn't even a tall. Came back out and sales clerk number two wasn't interested in helping us so we left the shirt on a table and walked out. This location continues to fail me. I was in the shoe department with my family for about 20 minutes and not one person greeted us, acknowledged our presence... absolutely nothing. It was not busy. There were 6 employees standing around.. I almost feel discriminated when I shop here. I am a very loyal customer to Nordstrom but all in all... I feel retail customer service should be exceptional in all cases. I hate having a disappointing shopping experience. To top it off, as I was paying for my purchases, the associate failed to ask if I had a loyalty number or anything, then after the sale was complete, I reminded them that they needed to ask if I had a loyalty number and he rolled his eyes and said you didn't say anything.. Was I suppose to do it for them? It doesn't make sense.. Am I discriminated against? Do I not look like I have money? I don't know it's the location or what the workers are eating, but the majority of them seem stuck up and rude - especially those working in cosmetics or jewelry. Now, I'm not a rude customer by any means, but I also refuse to be disrespected by anyone rolling their eyes at me while trying to make a sale. You want me to purchase a higher priced powder compared to the one I've been using then you better be able to tell me the difference in products. Simple, right? No. Not for these people. Went to Nordstrom in Tacoma WA to buy some summer shorts. Shop the store and pick out 3 pair that are on sale. Try them on and they fit! I like the sale price on the tag. Go to pay and clerk tells me that the only people who get that price are cardholders and "special" people. I say where does it say that. They point to signs around the store that say "Anniversary sale" and "shop early." NONE OF THE SIGNS TELL YOU THE CUSTOMER THAT YOU WONT GET THE SALE PRICE. They measure you, listen, and then line your changing room with a plethora of new bras. They don't stop there. They turn you around and DRESS you. Then, they shop for the best fit and color. I normally love Tacoma Nordstrom. But today I was treated so incredibly poorly I don't want to give them my business anymore. I had bought a pair of Birkenstocks and they were already failing (through no fault of mine) and I was seeing if I could exchange. The worker said "yes it's not normal" then hands me the new Birkenstocks not even buckled and walks away. I was left to do it all while chasing my toddlers around. Then I go upstairs and the BP department did not even acknowledge me! When I asked for a fitting room the girl rolls her eyes and puts me in the smallest fitting room possible.
