I have purchased many items over the years from our Tacoma store. I have been pleased with the selection and quality of clothes, although a bit high priced. Today when I went into the store to return some items, I was greeted by a very rude clerk. Number 1, she was not anywhere to be found. Number 2 when I called out she appeared and asked me, what do you want. Not smile. Not a great presentation. She then talked too rapidly and I asked her to repeat what she said. Although I like this store, my experience with the cashier was a complete turn-off and I won't be back. I stopped in after shopping at Hobby Lobby and bought a pair of pj's for my son. When I went to the register things took a turn. Employee: I need your phone number please. Me: No thanks. Employee: You are telling me you don't have a phone? (Rolls eyes) Me: I do have a phone but I don't want to give out my number. Employee: Why? If I enter your phone number we will let you know about sales, promotions... Me: No thank you, I'm not interested. Employee: It will save you money, what's your number? Me: I'm not giving you my number because I don't want anything sent to my phone. Can you please just ring me up? Employee: Ok, what is the phone number of the person you are buying this for then? Me: (Eying the toddler-size pajamas...) Uhhh...these pajamas are for my four year old son. Employee: Ok, what's his phone number? Me: Are you serious? He's 4 years old! Employee: Age doesn't matter, we can still send him the deals. What's his number? Me: Are you kidding me? My 4 year old doesn't have a phone! Employee: Oh...Are you sure you don't want to provide your phone number then so he can get good deals on future purchases? I honestly felt like I was on an episode of "Punked". Was at the mall with my friend who has a baby in the NICU looking for preemie clothes with no luck which I pretty much figured considering it's not a popular in demand size. I called Carter's and they told me they had about half in stock of what they had before in those sizes but I figured it had to be more than the 2 preemie footie's we found at the mall. Asked if they would pull those items aside for us as we were about to head over and they happily obliged. Also asked about their current sales which were awesome (up to 60% off, etc) and again way better than what's being offered at the mall. Got to the store and there was a stack to choose from at the register, not only preemie but up to 5 lbs which was a size I didn't know they had! They also had a little NICU section with super functional pieces made with NICU care in mind. The ladies who work in the store were all super sweet and helpful, way better customer service than what we would have received at the mall. We felt as tho we hit the jackpot at this location and got everything she needed for her baby at this time for just over $70. They threw in some coupons for next time too. This one is located right next to Target. I think it opened in June/July '11. Carters is always a little pricey, but they have some great sales! I was in this past weekend and the entire store was Buy One, Get One Free. Awesome. Clerks were very young, but happy and friendly. I ended up finding some of the warm fleece sleepers for the kiddo for $4 a pop on clearance. Love good sales! read more

So I'm more of a casual mom, I see the good in all, or at least try to. I never really question people's intentions- until yesterday (8/28/2018 around 2pm) My experience actually started at target next door. As we left the kid section on our way out, a guy was looking and smiling at my daughter, not a big deal that happens a lot. But he never made eye contact with me as we passed-that was a tad odd since people normally acknowledge the parent too. But Didn't think anything of it honestly, he passed us and we continued to leave target. As we approached the door, the same guy cut in front of us and said "she's super cute, how old is she" (he honestly had to BOOK it around target to meet us at the front) I said "she's 3 and thank you" and continued to leave since I was in a rush to finish shopping and get to work.I turned my head back to talk to my sitter who was with me and noticed he was holding his phone in a weird way, like he was taking photos or video or something. Now my mommy gut is starting to talk to me. I pick her up and carried her over to the carters store next door. He followed us into carters. Now my mommy gut is screaming! This is where 5 stars comes in. I was completely across the store looking for someone who worked there to tell them what happened and that I just didn't feel right about it. Karen (red head) saw me, dropped what she was doing came over and talked with me. She told me to stay over on this side of the store and handled the situation. She engaged the guy in such a professional and natural way without making a fuss or making it feel like he was creeping on little kids- I heard her ask who he was shopping for and what he was looking to purchase. He left after that conversation, and she came back over to tell me that he had left the store and he was an expecting father and looking for breast pumps. Again weird. But Karen- THANKYOU for not making me feel like I was overacting. THANKYOU for addressing the situation and following up with me once he left. THANKYOU for making me feel safe is an uncomfortable situation. read more

Why, OH, Why did I enter here!!!! I said to my girlfriend, glad I am having a boy, it shouldn't be too hard to not shop like it is for a little girl..... NOT!!!! This is an outlet store and the prices reflect that! They have some many sales racks that I didn't know what to do with myself. On top of the sales racks they give these awesome coupons, that you can't resist using in the future. read more

I'm starting to think your staff is prejudice, every time I walk in they ask questions that come off very wrong and act like someone is stealing , I come in this store very often and spend and the way they act when I give them a 100 dollar bill , but I don't see them do it to other people , this isn't the first complaint from me , I've called and complained a couple years ago about the staff read more

Love this store. It's always clean. I'm always greeted immediately and the employees always direct me to the part of the store that has the size I need. I'm a great-grandmother who bought OshKosh for my kids, Carter's for the grandkids, and now both for the greats. They have one of the best selections of 100% cotton clothes for kids anywhere. Combining the reward points I earn for shopping with the sale prices make this a fantastic place to shop on a budget. I'm so glad they've expanded their inventory into youth sizes. The staff at the Tacoma and Auburn stores have always been helpful and cheery, even during a major meltdown by a 4 year old. My favorite kids' place to shop. read more

Stopped in to see what kind of sales were going on tonight and wanted to do a quick shop knowing that they where closing less then 20 minutes. As I walked in the door the lady in front greeted, I thought she was going to say we're closing soon hints she was recovering the front half of the store instead she asked if I was looking for anything I replied back just looking at some hats and made my way back were there were signs extra 30% off. I was shopping through a rounder and seen there was a conversion sign above and wanted to purchase a couple items. After a minute or two another lady (African American) came out from the back without any acknowledgement and literally moved the signage right in front of me without saying anything like I wasn't visible to her, right then and there I knew I wasn't welcomed and that they wanted me out. I was livid that I was being treated this way not to mention I am a store manager at a retail store and I would never treat a customer the way that I was treated tonight. I chose not to buy nothing and left! Closing or not they could have made money!!! Worst customer service in my life! read more
