I have been in here many times for tastings. Not only is the selection of whiskeys the best I've seen, the owner is extremely knowledgable, the employees are insanely helpful, and they enjoy talking about the products they carry. Many times I've talked about Scotches (which I'm just learning about) and they will ask you questions about what you like to point you to what they feel you would enjoy. While you're doing this, they genuinely ask, talk and listen...they don't make you feel beneath them because you may not know what comes from what regions. The store owner Bikram really has a passion for scotch and he is extremely knowledgeable about brown spirits, and liquor in general. He is a gentleman and is quite giving of information and regularly has tastings to help you learn more about scotch - pretty cool in our small little town of Norfolk. One of the best places for real scotch lovers. Yes, it isn't a crazily discounted place big box store (which is great) but he has fair pricing, and most importantly he has stuff you won't see everywhere (or anywhere near here - and believe me I look!). He regularly has tastings and specials (Thursdays/Fridays) - even tonight he is throwing a special from Scotch Whiskey Society - special stuff. Norfolk Wine and Spirits is a fantastic store and we should ALL SUPPORT LOCAL STORES to keep them open. Or go to Costco and save a couple bucks but only have 3 options to choose from (JWB/Glenf 12 and Dewars right?). I think I heard he has over 1,000 scotches in his store filled to the brim, but I have never counted them of course! If you want to see very special or more obscure or rare scotch bottlings for something different this is your place.
