Just adding to what some other folks have said about the older guy who works here (perhaps owner?)...have called a couple of times to ask if certain beers are in stock. One time he flat out made fun of my request (was asking about a rose' cider for my partner who's gluten free) and another time was just unhelpful. Great place amazing selection but crummy attitudes! Everyone understands that there is a five customer minimum, if it's full we have all learned how to wait to our turn. BUT when the store is completely empty you don't have to be rude about letting me and the ONE other person in my party shop together... We both where not sure what we wanted, one of us looked first then we switched out so the other could look and make the purchase but then got even more rudeness/ snarky commentary for fallowing his policy! read more

I went in here looking for some good craft beers and did find them. If it wasn't for the female employee and I am sorry I do not know her name that was so nice and helpful I would have left. The owner was rude and very unhelpful passing me along to her. When I was ready to cash out the owner took over and made me feel like a disease asking me to step back as if I have no clue how to social distance after a year of dealing with the pandemic. His crass attitude and ignorance would chase any good customer out the door. It is a shame as the store has potential. read more

Rejoice! There's a CBC in the 'burbs! To say we were thrilled to find a Craft Beer Cellar in Norfolk is an understatement. My husband and I are riding the craft beer wave, and to have a place right down the road to grab locally made brews (with the option of buying by the can) to fuel our obsession---well it just made our year. I went here this past Thursday after driving by for months and thinking about going in. I only wish I had gone in sooner! They have an excellent beer selection and really helpful staff. I came in looking for Bell's Oberon, and after helping me locate it, a friendly staff member chatted with me about their sour selection. After that conversation, I ended up walking out with two other items including a Belgian lambic! Their selection for this area is excellent especially if you're someone that is hunting down sours or really hard-to-track down beers. I'll be back! read more

When you can't get to Trillium or Tree house, this store is key. The selection is top notch in comparison to the competition in the area. Craft beer cellar has bailed me out of many binds when I needed a tasty selection of local and regional beers. My first Yelp review *sigh*. I've worked in restaurants/retail and have been a beverage purchaser for over 20 years. Hospitality is key to a good experience at a retail location or restaurant or anywhere really. I believe it is the owner of this location that is gruff, rude, and generally unpleasant. I have had multiple interactions that left me sour either on the phone to ask a simple question of availability or in the store. It's a shame because they do have a great selection and I'm happy they are nearby. I dread seeing this person. Sad. read more

Stopped in for the first time today. Great experience! The store is well organized and has a great selection. You can mix and match your own 6 pack. Your encouraged to take a single bottle from packed 6 packs. Prices are reasonable. The best part was Andy, the proprietor. He was very friendly and helpful, gave recommendations and even carried the box of beer out to our car. Can't beat the service! We will definitely be regulars here! read more

I was excited to find a smaller alternative to the nearby YANKEE SPIRITS and WINES AND MORE, both on route 1. After one good experience, I brought my brother to take a look. After being followed around the store by an older male employee, I began to feel uncomfortable. When it became clear that he was judging my actions and closely monitoring my shopping activity well beyond customer service or friendly interest, I approached my brother about leaving the store. I found the door to the store locked, and I was unable to leave. I am sure it is illegal to lock exterior fire exits in a retail store with customers inside. The older male employee who locked me in shop made some comments insinuating that he suspected I had stolen and that was why he had locked me in. A white man with white hair, mostly balding cornered me in a locked store over a suspicion that could have been dispelled by a look at his shelf.. I will never return here. What an embarrassing experience when I was excited to show this shop to more potential customers. Very disappointed with customer service. Two customers who were also in the shop waved me down outside and expressed they were disrespected by this employee as well and supported us on leaving (once we had unlocked the door). Judging by the owner's previous response to criticisms in reviews, he will not learn or change. read more

It is refreshing to walk in to a place, and find people that not only know the product, but are passionate about it as well. I went ahead and checked this place out tonight, and my only regret was not going there sooner..... The Store was very well kept and organized. The selection was great, and the owner definitely knew his beer. I took a couple of recommendations from him, and they were both fantastic. The customer service was spot on, and being addressed by your first name is a bonus in my book. read more

It goes without saying that the selection here is great - the amount of high quality beers is overwhelming and the organization of the store is great. But the customer service is what really puts this store in a class of its own. The owner is always there, is genuinely happy to help, and refused to take my money when I tried to replace two beers that broke in the parking lot after a six pack bottom ripped.
