After consulting with a couple of implant specialists and general dentists, I met with Michael Sonick, whose reputation as one of this country's top implant specialists I was aware of. From initial consultation to the surgeries where my teeth (such as they were) were removed and the implants placed to the follow up visits, he was meticulous, supportive, and always available via his cell number. His office staff, dental assistants, and hygienists were terrific. It's a long process to get this done correctly, but well worth the time. I never thought to review a dentist on Yelp. While I'd prefer a restaurant every time over a visit to the dentist, I'm delighted with my choice of practitioners. There's nobody better. 10 Stars!

First I was told the full mouth X rays are covered by my insurance (they were not). Then the estimate for the root canal and how the amount the insurance would cover was wrong. Then the extraction costs were higher due to difficulty, which it did not seem to be. Finally I paid the bill at the end and put it behind me. Now one year later I receive a text that I owe another $540 and will be sent to collection if not paid. When I asked the reason for the additional cost the answer was not satisfactory. The best part about it all, is the tooth feels loose and I don't feel comfortable using that side. If you know a good dentist please tell me.

The appointment seemed routine; they took X-rays, which I didn't expect to reveal anything alarming since I had seen my own dentist back in my home state less than two months prior for an exam and cleaning, as I don't reside permanently in CT. After reviewing the X-rays, Dr. Tartagni performed a hot and cold test on my tooth and abruptly informed me that I needed a root canal. I was surprised because I didn't feel much during the test and mentioned this to her. Looking back, it seemed like she was either guessing or pushing for unnecessary treatment. After being told I needed a root canal, I was taken to the financial office and given an exorbitant out-of-pocket estimate. The news was especially stressful since I am a college student and my dental coverage is in my home state. Ultimately, I sought a second opinion from my dentist back home, who promptly reassured me that my tooth was perfectly fine and that I had narrowly avoided being taken advantage of. Multiple X-rays confirmed this, and other dentists agreed that no treatment was necessary. This happened about a year ago, and today, my tooth feels completely normal and the strange sensation has disappeared. It even felt better a couple of days after the visit, despite the lady working in the financial office saying that the "pain would likely just get worse" if I didn't go through with the procedure. I got multiple fillings from him two years ago on the left side of my mouth and they are STILL sensitive. I learned my lesson early, switched to another dentist to do fillings on the right side and what do you know, the other dentist's work is just fine. Not only are my fillings by Dr. T terrible, he also took unusual breaks during the procedure, leaving me to sit there waiting with chunks of multiple teeth drilled out. I went to the bathroom during his break once and saw my teeth without the fillings -- horrifying. No one should ever have to see their own mouth like that. And lastly, I requested that my records and x-rays be sent from his office to my current dentist THREE times over the course of a week, once during my first appointment with my new dentist because they still hadn't sent them after asking twice. As a result, I had to get all new x-rays that my insurance wouldn't cover. That's money lost because of his negligent staff. So in case I haven't warned you enough, please please do not go to this place. You can find much better. I know I did.
