He was determine to keep me as a long term client and that he will work the insurance out to give me a good deal if I would allow him to work on my crowns that fell off a year prior.(which I thought that was about him) so I agreed to have him work on me. Man, was that a bad idea. He talked a lot, he gave more attention to his assistant than my tooth he was working on. I tell you, it was the worst experience ever. I had 4 crowns and 3 route canals that had to redone the following year to only get it completely fixed. Extra cost that I didn't think I would have to do. And he still wants to charge me over $4k for the incomplete work he's started. Dr. Prato, I'm begging you not to do this to anybody else. Please, it's time to hang your hat and quit and enjoy life. You're a great man, just not a good dentist anymore. One truthful review is all you need.

The day before I was to go in for my cleaning they contacted me to tell me that they were no longer willing to do the agreed payment plan and I might want to go some where else. REALLY??? I got very upset since it was 2 weeks later (Who wouldn't? What kind of place does business like this? They should have agreed to do it on this one but told me not in the future) I decided to keep the appointment, even if I had some reservations because I felt comfortable with him as a dentist and confident that he understood my dental phobias. I contacted them to let them know and and advise them that I had figured out a way to pay for it in its entirety. The next day I showed up for the appointment. The Dr. took me in a back room to tell me that, "because of the previous days events" (i.e. I got upset at what I consider his poor business practice and the fact they made this decision the day before my appointment) I needed to go find another dentist, i.e. he doesn't want me as a patient " as this is only the beginning." I left his office feeling very humiliated and embarrassed. Almost as if I had been a kid who did something wrong. I mean who gets rejected by a dentist's office unless they have done something very wrong? He could have called me to tell me this instead of humiliating me in his office, and saved me the trip down there. He might be a good dentist but his business practices really suck. The only good thing I can say is that they said they were going to refunded the entire amount I spent in their office, which tells me he takes responsibility for what happened.

They were late for starters, 9 am appointment and we weren't in the door until 9:10. We weren't the only patients waiting. Thus none of the stations were ready. If they have creature comforts for kids they weren't out and the staff wasn't bringing them out, to the point of they couldn't find the remote for the overhead tvs that help keep the kids distracted. They refused to find the remote so no distraction for my kid. When Alex showed up he had no patience and tried to force his way into her mouth. I asked him to stop so I can console and get my kid to relax but he ignored me ( I would give benefit of the doubt but his assistant heard me and she was further away. I know because when I said stop she pulled back). I had to physically grab his shoulder. No one like touches so I understood his irritation at that but my concern was with my kid. He states that if she can't handle this then he wouldn't be able to go forward with the procedure. I asked for a little more detail so I could talk my kid through the process and it turns out that he was about to perform a procedure that we hadn't confirm!ed The office had messed up the paperwork and put down the wrong thing for the wrong day and person. At this point my irritation level is high so I questioned the professionalism of the establishment. He wasn't happy that I called out the multiple failings of this office that morning and we were asked to leave. I asked the women on staff if I was wrong for protecting my daughter. Why couldn't they take the time to find the remote to distract a little girl from the sounds of drills and suction which can be scary for a kid. They were already late so what's another couple minutes? Why rush my daughter and then get upset because she needed a little reassurance? It's hard sometimes to not believe that our mistreatment wasn't because of our skin tone. In honor of AAPI month I won't say that I will never go to another Asian dentist or doctor again but I know I did the right thing in protecting my daughter from Alex Jhang!!

I initially went in for a cavity filling, which later turned into a root canal per Jhiang's suggestion. I got referred to an endo to complete the root canal. Endo I got referred to was actually a general dentists, and could not perform my root canal. I was without any help from the receptionist who suggested and drafted my referral, and forced to find an endo on my own to finish the root canal that was already started!! Again -- i went in for a filling!! It took weeks and I was left in great pain. Now here I am six months later ready to purchase my crown and I've been informed that dr.Jhiang has "dismissed" me as a patient since January 2023. If that was the case, why was I getting texts that I was due for a cleaning? Keep in mind I've had no prior issues with this office except for the receptionist, Berta, who was rude and unhelpful with the referral process. She not only gave me a referral to a location that could not even operate on me, but did not aid in finding any other options. She was extremely rude despite me being in deep pain, and I had to find my own provider to finish the job this location couldn't complete. I was not given an explanation for my dismissal except that I missed two appointments -- I was unaware of this "policy" and I think if this office is going to make patients lose their dental providers, a warning would be nice!! AsDr. Jhiang has been nothing but exceptional, his receptionist Berta makes simple processes difficult, is extremely unhelpful and it's clear her biases have now resulted in me being dismissed by my dentist of three years -- still without my root canal treatment complete!! Wow!! If this is how Dr. jhiang's practice will treat long term patients, as even I've brought my mother to this location to receive cosmetic work done out of pocket! The lack of hospitality, communication and flexibility is ridiculous here. Glad to be gone. At least their receptionists are no longer pocketing cash payments like was occurring in 2021. I stayed through that mess just to be "dismissed" Never even heard of that. Will be finding an alternate site.

Catches things before they're a problem and preemptively takes preventative measures. Appointment confirmations are done via SMS which is very nice, and there's an excellent waiting/play area for the kids.

My partner was told he needed a root canal on a tooth that just had a very shallow filling. Stockton has to be the absolute worst place to get dental care! This office is nice, front office ladies are adequate but the dentist is condescending and doesn't care what you say about anything. She's made up her mind and that's that. Never mind the fact my partner was concerned another tooth had been cracked and was painful. One problem per visit and that's that, not her problem. A quality dentist cares about preventing problems. Not creating more problems to generate more income for her business from costly procedures.

Hilder repaired one of my lower front teeth and my daughter's front (upper) tooth. We both look great :-) and so do our teeth. More importantly, we have healthy teeth. Dr. Hilder is honest. He will not overcharge his patients or tell them they need something that they do not need. Sometimes it seems as if medical care and dentistry professionals are sales people. Hilder is not. He's a good guy.

Several years ago I was in desparate need of a dentist. I was without dental insurance and could…read morenot afford to go to any dentist. Being an Alumnus of the University, I was prepared to contact the School of Dentistry and to drive to San Francisco for treatment. I then discovered that the School of Dentistry has a Dental Clinic on the University's main campus in Stockton. The Dentists there are completing their year of residency and under close supervision of Dentists who have extensive experience. They also have a Dental Hygiene Clinic in which the students earning their B.S degrees in Dental Hygiene work during their final year of study, again under close supervision. I cannot be happier with the treatments and service that I have receive! They accept all dental insurances, and will even make payment plans. Their fees a considerably less than regular dentists and VERY affordable. I also have to mention the good friendships I have established with the staff!
