This is certainly a well kept up store and seemed to have more employees present on the floor. There are vast amounts of home goods and decor mixed in with the arts and crafts. For the hell of it I looked for a pair of my ideal scissors, no luck... buts that's not why I came so no marks off. I was even thinking about rounding up to 4 stars as I approached the checkout, but then I saw all the religious propaganda at the front of the store. I did know of their strong Christian leaning, and in general I don't have an issue with that. But when they are selling this stuff and making a profit on it, I suddenly don't feel like I'm in a craft store anymore. Had there been equal time devoted to other religions I might have had a different reaction. I'd still come back as long as I didn't burst into flames upon entering.

I…read moreactually liked a craft store in my neighborhood more, and one that was close to a supermarket I shop at. But Mikes put them out of business I guess. That's why I had to stop by this store instead. Competition is good in a free market economy so I just thought, no harm no foul, at first.... The store was fairly easy to shop and I've been here before at least a few times. Aisles have overhead signs that list categories that are contained within. It was an easy task to find my way to their scissor department. In their defense they did have a decent selection. But I was no ordinary scissor customer. I had an exact brand and type in mind, neither of which they carried. So my choices were between a more expensive item that was similar to one I was replacing. And a cheaper one that was close to what I wanted but not quite designed in a clever way. I went with the cheaper of the 2 and had an easy checkout experience. I also received a coupon for 30% off my next full price purchase. I even contemplated going back at some point to use the coupon on the more expensive pair. But eventually I googled the brand name I was looking for. Yup, this company is still going strong and the item I sought out is still widely available....... But only on Amazon as far as I can tell. And it was even a few bucks cheaper than the poorly designed pair that I settled for. I'm less a fan of Amazon than I am of Mikes, so we'll say squeaking in at 3 stars. I'm going to continue to look for my desired scissors in small craft stores. I'm telling you right now, wherever I find them that store gets 4 stars at least for valuing quality over profit margin.

The employees look visibly exhausted and stretched in so many different directions. If 1 employee is doing 3 jobs, I hope they're being compensated for 3 jobs.
