So, was lookin' through Yelp for a BREAKFAST place in this town, and Norma's came up the most highly rated. Now, I'm not a HUGE Mexican food fan because so much of it is same-o, same-o. But I got to try a Mexican meal that I'd never had before, AND it was a breakfast meal! WAY cool for me!!! For the first time ever, I had Chicharron. NOW, I would've enjoyed it EVEN more if I hadn't hurt my tooth the night before accidentally chomping down on a piece of chicken gristle, but... It was SO tasty, even though sometimes painful! Ok, let's talk about how amazing Yelp is for a minute. We're on a road trip...going through tiny towns dotted along the panhandle and we're starving. We really want an amazing breakfast to get us through the next 6 hours...so we hit up Yelp, and as per the usual, Yelp doesn't disappoint. We end up driving off the highway, to the end of the town...to Norma's Cafe. When my mom and I walk in, the wait staff is sitting down to breakfast and there's not a soul to be seen (granted it was 10 AM on a week day, in Snyder). At first my mom took this as a bad sign...and then our waitress dropped off the chips and salsa. Wedding bells...the "light"...whatever analogy makes you understand...the moment they were sat in front of us, we knew this place was going to be legit. The chips are the thick, crazy crunchy, homemade variety with delicious salsa accompanying them. We both ordered the huevos rancheros and...yeah...again...plates were set down and my mom looked at me and said, "well, Emily...you've done it again!" (I love it when I get the credit Yelp so deserves!) Needless to say we were in a food coma by the time we walked out of there, but it was totally worth it. Food is good. Service is horrible. Our waiter ignored us multiple times. I asked two different servers for tortillas and never got them, after 20 minutes we just got up, paid and left. We have been dedicated customers since the Alcala's opened the doors to Norma's Cafe. The first thing I rate a Mexican Restauraunt on is their chips and salsa. The salsa is exceptionally fabulous! And I promise I could, would, and have made a meal out of just the chips and salsa. Fish tacos are yummy. Hubby's favorite is cheese enchiladas & mine is chicken fajita quesadilla. You can never go wrong in ordering the guisado plate! Don't forget the green sauce! Grand babies all love to come for Sandra's famous pancakes! It was very good and if we are ever back in Snyder I will definitely go back. It is a little scary looking from the outside and I am assuming they are doing some sort of renovation since the parking lot is all ripped up but give it a shot. Great food, coffee, and awesome customer service. I usually get the Sandra Son Omelette, which is made for people like me, 6'9" 280 lbs man. The omelette is made of 3 times the normal ingredients of a regular omelette, and it hangs over the edge of the plate. read more

This place was a great find! We are in town for State baseball playoffs and looking to kill some time. My daughter wanted pancakes so we chose Norma's because they serve breakfast all day. The food was all excellent. Pancakes, French toast and omelettes. Every meal I saw being delivered looked really good too!! Wasn't what I was expecting from reviews and online menu :-(. First time I felt steered wrong from Yelp. Norma's has definitely gone Mexican. Only a few other choices. The online menu had many cafe choices and not many Mexican dishes. We arrived during the lunch hour and they only had 1 waitress to take orders, deliver, bus tables, and cashier. Needless to say we waited for refills and had to go to register to pay. Food was ok, nothing to brag home about. Doubt I will stop again while traveling this way. read more
