I'm on a cross country road trip and stopped for the night here in Snyder TX. Found this place on Yelp and it was so close to my hotel I could have walked...except there's no sidewalks! So I took the trike for a little 1/2 mile ride (as if 325 earlier miles done today wasn't enough). This was a good choice (unlike a couple of other choices I made today). The salsa that was served with the complimentary chips had a nice little kick to it. I ordered a nice margarita and they delivered a big one! That's gonna help me relax after that long ride. I ordered the #27 Lengua plate. I like a good Lengua meal. Delicious and I'm going to eat the leftovers for breakfast before I hit the road tomorrow. Needed a place to stop for dinner on our drive from Lubbock! This restaurant was clean and outstandingly fast. The service was wonderful. Drinks were refilled quickly, food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Queso was a comforting, creamy sauce. The salsa had a quick heat to it. Plentiful serving size at a decent price. Overall, the food was good! It's not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but we definitely left happy with full stomachs!! read more

We were traveling to Carlsbad Cavern and stopped in Snyder Texas. The restaurant decor typical but clean. Poblano pepper à la cart was very good. My dinner dish was very nice and more than I could finish. I asked for hot sauce and they brought me out a squeeze bottle that looked homemade and was very good. We also added it to the salsa for the chips that added a kick. Service was good. read more

Traveling to Texas on the scenic drive from the I40 Arizona you are many interesting things. The lasteg of our journey at about 830 pm we were famished. Diesel stop in Snyder Texas we found a wonderful Mexican Place, Taqueria Guadalajara. It was 40 minutes before closing. It is a diamond in the rough. No one wants a huge heavy meal when you have two more hours to get to you're destination. Kristi had beans with all her sauces. One of her sauces was their red enchilada sauce.. It is the best enchilada sauce I have ever eaten. They make it on house. The consistency and flavor is phenomenal. I wanted to take a gallon home. I am not usually a red sauce fan but this one was outstanding. I had the taco salad, Rick had chicken taco's. My salad was good . The chicken in Rick's tacos was tender and flavorful. The place was clean the staff very friendly and accommodating. If you are in the area. Visit this restaurant.. You will not be disappointed. read more

Nobody is wearing masks in the kitchen or in the dining room, but neither do the police in this podunk town. Do NOT buy the shrimp cocktails. It should be obvious deep in Texas, but the texture is just bad. The flavor doesn't make up for it. It's nice that they have horchata, but it's obviously powdered mix. The queso magically doesn't have any flavor even though it's a bowl of cheese. Pass on the barbacoa. What's good: the lengua and tripas are freaking delicious. Like wow. Just order these tacos. The tripas was perfectly crunchy and had no gamey flavor. The al pastor was good flavor wise but was way too sinewy for me. read more

A fast quick stop for dinner. Place was actually pretty busy with patrons. I was able to grab a booth pretty quickly, ordered food, and a few beers. Beers came out cold, and food came out shortly after. Food was hot and definitely a plate full. The Jalisco burrito was beyond fulfilling and the flavors were really good. The salsa was also good, and for my liking could have used more spice but was still really good. I would definitely stop here again if I had another opportunity. read more

I drove all day and then got pooped out so stopped in Snyder, TX. This was the closest thing to me. It was just okay. Nothing horribly wrong with it but everything seemed just okay. Margarita was wine based--wish I had known that coming in! The beef was pretty good, as was the general meal. Chips were decent but the salsa was smoking hot! read more

Great food and great service. I've been to Snyder a couple times for work, and hadn't found a good place to eat that wasn't overpriced, or fast food. When I got here there were only a couple other parties. When I left there were no more tables available. I got two servings worth of fajitas in the shrimp/chicken/steak combo. So much I needed extra pico and tortillas to take home with me. read more

Two adults, one toddler and wayyyyyy too much great food on the table. (Lengua! Tripas! Caldo de pescado y camaron! Rellenos! More!)(Sorry no pix, both of our phones died.) Ready for a long review? Buckle in. To start, is the decor bright, cheerful, clean? Yup. Check, check, check. The main dining room is pretty utilitarian, but from where we sat it looks as if they have another room that's maybe not quite so formica-y? We ordered the $3 margarita specials on a Sunday afternoon, which may've been Smirnoff Ice, but were SO cold and tasty with the amazing (I am not kidding here, amazing!!) chips and homemade salsa. That salsa is SO good that even though our food arrived quickly, we ended up getting a second basket of clearly-homemade chips to take advantage of every drop of that smokey, spicy, delicious salsa. It's hard to find a starting point now, because man, we had a ton of food arrive all at once... I "like" tripas in menudo, but don't love it. (I'm more a pozole girl.) And I've never had lengua. So? Tacos all around! lol We ordered two crispy tripas, and two lengua (corn tortillas, of course, which were definitely-no-doubt-housemade), served with a beautifully fresh pile of cilantro, limes, and onions. As it turns out, I'm actually, really surprisingly not a fan of lengua, but I can say that it wasn't the preparation, for sure. (Though be aware, they do large slices of lengua, so if you prefer smaller chopped bits, ask, I'm sure they'll accomodate you.) It was tender and flavorful, for sure. But if you kind of like tripas? GET THE CRISPY TRIPAS. They are SO good. Juicy, fatty, crispy, yes, a little funky... Yum. But I had to turn my attention to my own selection, the fish & shrimp soup, served with rice, cilantro, lime and onions on the side. The BIG bowl of soup that arrived surprised me, as I'd ordered the small at 8.99. The broth was such a nice, delicately spiced backdrop to that fish. The shrimp was very very, very good - large (no mini canned things here) - and nicely cooked, but damn, that fish. With a pile of warm corn tortillas on the side, and a generous amount of rice/cilantro/lime/onions added I simply couldn't shut up about how tasty the fish was in the soup. My daughter always orders a chile relleno with cheese as her "test" meal, and let me tell you, I'm embarrassed to admit I do not know what cheese it was (white, deliciously & firmly "melty") but that was easily one of the best, if not THE best relleno either of us have either had. (We don't care for straight-egg rellenos, we like the egg-white/flour version, and this was so good I'm actually sort of salivating. lol) As a "throwaway" we ordered the toddler a cheeseburger and fries, and I'm not going to lie, both my daughter and I really REALLY thought about stealing at least a bite of that baby's burger. ;) And we did steal a few of his fries. Not sure why, but those fries were amazing, also. I'm guessing hand-cut and twice fried. They just didn't seem frozen/food service. We had an utterly surprising meal at Taqueria Guadalajara, and I'm so glad we ventured past other favorites in town. Recommend? OH yeah! Also, edited to add: Our service was great! My show co-host had some chicken thingy- majiggy. He said it was good and didn't shit himself, so I believe him. I was a little skeptical at first..the lady at allsups down the road reccomended it....wasn't really sure if you seat yourself at first..which you do...atmosphere's not especially great but once we got seated it was great..sodas come in bottle with cup a cup of ice...waitresses were averagely friendly but we showed up at noon on sunday/ mothers day...barely beat church crowd...the tortillas were homemade and delicious...salsa was very good but a little spicy..I got a beef fajita soft taco and a beef fajita burrito....that was probably the best burrito I've ever had!
