Hi all! I very seldom write reviews but after having Norm's come out to clean our carpet in St Charles, I knew they certainly deserved props. It's all too often reviews are fired off when things go less than perfect, but I like to give credit to the businesses that really are creating wonderful experiences. From the friendly and accommodating phone call with Chris to book our cleaning to the execution of our staircase /landing being cleaned by Eric & Ben I give this business 10/10. Timeliness, professionalism, quality and value were all achieved. The best our carpet has looked since installation. The guys were very careful with our newly refinished hardwood floors as well- always placing (never dragging) their equipment. They even cared about closing the door each and every time they entered our house so bugs wouldn't come in. So very refreshing to have two young men show up ontime and insist on removing their shoes even though they'll be cleaning the carpets. WOW From the first contact requesting the cleaning I knew this was going a positive experience. They sent an email confirmation of the agreed upon date and time. With the confirmation came prep instructions. The instructions were very clear and easy to understand. First time using this company for services and was impressed from start to finish. When I first requested an appointment I got a quick response and let them know I was coming home from a trip from the airport I was about 6 minutes late from the 4pm time and the gentleman waiting for in the service truck was polite when I apologized for being a few minutes late. I explained I had a dog (reason for the services to remove some pee odors) and I took her on a walk while he worked on the two carpet areas. He gave me an approximate estimate of when the services would be done and he finished right on time. Pricing was very reasonable and they guaranteed a month of the services that if I smelt any of the odors they would come out in the next month to troubleshoot the problem areas again if needed. $95.00 for everything and the customer service was excellent, I highly recommend them. read more

The crew is on time, listens to my concerns, and completes the job in an thorough and timely manner. When I direct the crew to stains they are able to remove them with carpet cleaning products that are safe for my family and pets. My carpet is in great condition and is now fifteen years old. (Having a no shoe policy on carpeted areas has helped as well.) By cleaning my carpets annually I have been able to prolong the life of my carpeting and insure my family is living in a clean environment. I response to the owner's tirade let me focus on the facts. I was on the premises during the entire time of both visits from his team. At no time did they communicate that their scope of work was mis-priced. It is entirely reasonable for one to expect that any vendor or service provide may have to change their pricing higher or lower when they see the work. It is also reasonable for them to verbally communicate that when you are meeting them in person and before they begin work. The owner in fact asked if I was on premises, and when he got a positive reply he switched the subject and then went on a tirade about inflation! Again, I am not writing this review and reply for compensation, or any refunds. As I said in my initial review the surcharge was 'trivial'. It is the owners' behavior. Do not make my mistake. I took this man's word for his bond as I had a positive experience previously and had no reason to suspect he would act differently. I was wrong. Do the following instead: when his team come to your premises, confirm and record the scope of work again. His team may be professional and courteous, he is not. He is in fact dishonest and shifty. Norm's came out last week to clean our carpets. While I was kept informed, the cleaning crew arrived almost an hour late. The on-site quote differed from the "experienced" quote - almost $100 higher. The reason, I was told, was due to furniture being moved during the cleaning process which I had requested when making the appointment. The cleaning crew was OK but I felt like I was being taken advantage of by them and their company and I'm not sure they are as experienced as they said they were. It was unsettling that there was such a difference in my phone & on-site quote. Then I was told that they had cleaned under our beds as far as their equipment could reach which was not the case upon a later inspection I made. In addition, one piece of furniture - a buffet in our dining room - was not moved and it is generally a fairly easy piece to move. While we have 2 dogs and one sheds quite a bit, I was shocked to be able to pull up a lot of her hair after Norm's cleaning process, especially on the stairs. And here several days later, I really see no discernable difference in the carpet pre and post cleaning. So I say Norm's is just an average carpet cleaning company and I think I could have done as good of a job with a Rug Doctor or my own Bissell cleaner. read more

Wow!! Is all I have got to say!!!! My carpeting looks absolutely amazing!!!!! My carpeting is 21 years old and after the technicians were done cleaning my upstairs carpeting it looks like brand new now!!!!! I am so happy my realtor recommended Norm's carpeting. Chris (owner of Norm's Carpet) was amazing today. He literally saved my day as well as some major financial expenses my husband and I were looking at after our 3 year old rolled a sealed gallon of paint down our carpeted staircase. I had paint thick against our walls on the way down, thick on the carpeted stairs, and the hardwood and door at the bottom of the stairs ... where the gallon landed upside down :( I fell on my knees and cried. I thought my house was ruined. I called Norm's, as I've used this company for over 10 years now, and Chris came in less than a half hour and saved, yes SAVED all of my carpet! And not only did he save my carpet, he also was successful and getting paint off of our stained wood door as well as our hardwood floor at our entryway. I went from pure disgust and terror to immediate relief as I saw the improvements transpire over the two hours time that he worked on my home. I received a beautiful 4x6 flokati area rug from a neighbor who had purchased the rug in Greece in 1976. Flokati rugs are very difficult to clean and as such there is a specific protocol that must be followed when cleaning these rugs. I reached out to a number of carpet cleaners in the area and ultimately felt the most comfortable with Norm's. I'm so happy I did. Chris took such great care of my rug and it looks beautiful. Communication was top notch. I even asked Chris if it would be possible to get my rug back earlier than quoted as the person who gave it to me would be by the house over the weekend. These guys did a great job with a thorough cleaning when we first moved in. 10 months later, they came back to address a husband's red wine spill and a dog's poopy revenge in the dining room. They completely eliminated the red wine stain, and mitigated the dog stains. Plus, the guys who show up are fantastic, and have great customer service skills. I run a small business in Geneva and Norms came out today to clean my carpets in all my high traffic areas. I appreciated the fact that they called to tell me there were on their way. They used a "pre-treater" brush machine this time before the carpet cleaning and with my older, low pile carpet I think this worked really well. They are older carpets and I have a lot of traffic so there's some wear, but the they came out greatly improved. The two young men who came out to clean are very nice and polite. They worked with me to clean just the areas I needed and worked around furniture that I didn't really want (or need) to move. Just had my carpet cleaned by Norm's and I will certainly call them again in the future. The men were polite and friendly. My carpet looks great. The price was very reasonable. I like also that they will clean only the areas that you want cleaned. You don't have to have the areas cleaned where your furniture sits unless you want to. I had a bedroom that only needed the area cleaned in front of the bed which they did. That saved me some money. I scheduled an appt. that was convenient for me. They called before they came out Instead of waiting around for them, they were able to come a little bit earlier. I live in Elburn, but they were happy to drive to my area to clean the carpet. read more

I'm recanting my one star review because Norm took the time to contact me, apologize for the horrible employee (who no longer is employed), and offer a high level of customer service for my trouble.
