Dr. Matti is wonderful. It's hard to find a reliably honest, friendly and welcoming dentist's office so I'm super pleased I found him.

It wasn't because I'd only had chemo a couple of weeks before and this pain and protrusions have been there for months. Dr Willman is no longer with the practice. Huge, enormous, gigantic loss for Pima Dental. About four months ago, I returned because I needed to molars extracted. Let me note that after the extractions I had fully intended beginning work on all my lower teeth, fully expecting to make another substantial investment. This practice is not inexpensive... in my view it is extremely overpriced (especially after I share what happened below). I was prepared to pay another substantial amount to complete my treatment. I did miss one appointment due to a personal emergency. I attempted to call but was unable to get through, and at the time my focus understandably had to be on the emergency. At my next scheduled appointment, I drove over 45 minutes from north Phoenix. I arrived and had X-rays done, and then met with a dentist who informed me that two teeth would need to be extracted by an oral surgeon and that the procedure could not be done there. While the dentist was courteous, the appointment ultimately resulted in a two-hour round trip simply to be referred elsewhere. I wish this had been communicated to me beforehand. As I was leaving, I was stunned when I was told not to leave and was informed that I owed a $50 missed-appointment fee. Mandy, the office manager, whom I had worked with before made it be known that I needed to pay $50. What disappointed me most was not the amount itself, but the complete lack of empathy or discretion--especially toward a long-standing patient who had already invested heavily in the practice and was prepared to invest significantly more. I understand that offices have cancellation policies. However, patient relationships should involve more than strict enforcement of fees. In my experience, this practice places profits above patient goodwill and patient satisfaction. Between the high costs of treatment and the rigid handling of this situation, it left me feeling that policies mattered more than people. As a business owner myself, I believe long-term trust, empathy, and relationships are what sustain a practice--not nickel-and-diming loyal patients. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to seek care elsewhere for the remainder of my treatment, and I will not be recommending this office moving forward ever again! I hope this feedback is taken constructively. My initial experience here was excellent, attributed primarily to Dr Willman, which makes this outcome all the more disappointing.

I am going to make this review as accurate as I can…read more Scheduled for Tammy to be my hygienist due to some good reviews; I'm very particular about who touches my teeth, so I do extensive research before booking an appointment. Came to the office to find they booked me with the wrong hygienist, which is no big deal, mistakes happen (I knew she wasn't the correct hygienist because I saw her photo on the website as I was reading the bios of the dentists, and scrolling down to the hygienists section, so I had somewhat of a mental image already of who to expect for both my dentist and hygienist). As I was heading out, I spoke with the front-end staff who do the scheduling and let them know that I was scheduled with the wrong person. They informed me that there were in fact two Tammy's, one is Tammy Marie and another is Tammi. I immediately went on the website to search for the name Tammy Marie, and the name didn't exist, her name was simply 'Tammy', so there was no way I would have known that differentiation between Tammy and Tammi, but for some reason they were pushing back at me as though I should have known her real name is Tammy Marie almost as if I had made the mistake. Throughout this conversation, I remained calm and respectful despite this pushback. I never raised my voice. Suddenly, a dental assistant named Hannah came out of nowhere to the front desk area and became actively involved in the conversation with a clear attitude in which I asked her why the attitude whilst I was trying to relay to the front end staff that it would have been helpful if the hygienists names could had been clarified during the scheduling phone call to prevent this. Hannah's level of involvement was oddly strange tbh, but I wasn't trying to get sucked into that either. So I moved to request to speak to the dentist, hoping this simple confusion would be smoothed out and we could move on positively. When I spoke to the dentist, Dr. Brynn Van Dyke, I didn't feel that she had tried to make things right, nothing about her gave good intentions or any sense of care. You know that type of care where you feel when a person genuinely cares about you. I think (and this is my speculation) that Hannah may have falsely gassed her up against me prior to speaking to me as I felt Dr. Brynn Van Dyke came already negatively biased. Actually, when the hygienist, Tammi, later came to the front desk area, my immediate reaction was to assure her that none of this was personal. I told her, "This has nothing to do with you and I don't want you to feel any type of way. I specifically thought I had booked another hygienist based on reviews I had read." It was important to me that I reassure her that because I was sensitive to her feelings as well to make sure she wasn't slighted...that is the type of genuine care for another person that I didn't feel from Dr. Brynn Van Dyke. To summarize: This was a minor scheduling misunderstanding that could have been resolved with a single sentence from any of the staff: "We're sorry for the confusion. Let's get you back on schedule with your preferred providers." I understand things don't always go as planned, and I'm okay with that, but what matters most is not the issues that occur, but how the staff respond to make things right. That's what shows the character of an establishment and team. Being a doctor myself, I personally deal with challenging situations and patients, but I always remain focused on the patient and the quality of care they receive so as to provide positive outcomes and experiences. Unfortunately, I did not get that while being in the patient's chair.

I have my regular…read moreappointments and over that period of time, I have had to cancel one due to a work trip and I did that well in advance and that is all. Fast forward to today. When I first started going there, I confirmed an appointment through their text system. Next day, I get another text asking me to confirm. As I work a lot, I don't really like getting bombarded by texts and calls for appointments I've made. Since texts go straight to junk if the phone number they come from is not in my contacts and they use random numbers, I don't see them normally. They only like to call during business hours, which surprise, people have to work during. Try calling one minute after 5, no answer. So, I get a voicemail from them that they will have to reschedule since I haven't confirmed. I call them, of course no answer as it's after 5. I check the text message spam folder and see a text so I ask about the appointment. I'm told no, it isn't canceled. Shortly after that, I get another reminder text that I have an appointment the next day. I think, okay, still have the appointment. I go to the appointment and I'm told it was canceled. The kicker is, I travel a lot and it's currently a 2 hour drive each way. I chose to keep all this stuff centralized as it's easier when I'm up north or down south for winter. There is such high turnover at this location that you never know who you're going to see. Needless to say, time for a new dentist and I'll look for one that isn't a chain as these guys are absolute clowns. I was told, confirming the appointment is "required", well, take your confirmation requirement and shove it. I'll go elsewhere. I know they'll say that it's my fault that I didn't confirm. Well, for years I don't, now you just cancel it, I'm done.
