This auction house sells fake Trade silver Indian artifacts supposedly from old Canadian silversmiths. I saw one (lot 80 August 1 2020 auction, Robert Cruickshank breast plate) and sent emails to auctioneer with the real Cruickshank punch mark that is very different from the one on the piece. They still have the fake listed 4 days before auction. Then I looked for past auctions of similar items and found that they seem to make a business of selling those fake Canadian Indian Trade silver items. They are NOT honest. I ignorantly purchased two expensive native american pieces. The blanket advertised as "navajo" was clearly made in mexico. After verifying its mexican origins with well known native american experts, I spoke with the owners on three occasions requesting a refund based on false advertising and probable shilling. They laughed at me for me for being stupid enough to bid so high. I spoke with an auctioneer lawyer in Montana, who admitted they were known for shilling, but said Montana law didn't offer buyer protection against auction fraud. NEVER bid here. Loved the auction and pickup was super easy. My one "complaint" was the I don't understand the concept of buyer's premium. I think the buyer should pay the priced bid and won. In any event, it was fun and I'm so happy with what I won. read more

First of all, when I went online to view the auction, the information provided gave 2 different dates for the sale. I sent the auction house a question about that as well as the condition of an item I was interested in. I also sent one other message offering information about a piece that was misidentified. Even though I sent these 3 messages well in advance of the auction, I never received a response from them. That was enough for me to decide that I wouldn't do business with them. read more

Terrible terrible. Do not do business with these people. Purchased an item that needed to be shipped and they only gave one company as an option to ship with. They wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount of money. Tried to contact the auction house and they just ignore emails. I had to resell the items with them and they sold it for pennies. IF IT WERE POSSIBLE TO LEAVE "0" STARS I WOULD HAVE! I purchased two Native American baskets through their online bidding. One basket that I bid $175 for was TOTALLY misrepresented as to age!!! The listing stated that it was "a California Mission era Native American Indian basket". What I received was a modern basket worth about $35. In response to my email asking : "Please respond with your suggestions as to how we may rectify this matter.", they did not respond. Only after calling them did Tucker, the company VP respond with lame excuses and denial of the misrepresentation and made no attempt to rectify. He pointed out that the final price was reasonable for the item considering that the pre-auction estimate was twice as much! As it turned out, I was the ONLY bidder as those who were physically present at the auction were apparently able to tell that the basket was new and not from the era it was represented to be from. What I found most amazing about Tucker's reply was the lack of willingness to do anything to mediate this problem, other than to suggest that I resell the item through THEM! IS HE KIDDING??? Also, the shipping cost was excessive!!! These people are very dishonest. I successfully buy alot of antiques on line, but will never purchase from North American Auction Co again and recommend extreme caution to anyone who does. read more

In response to my first review, the apparent owner of this company wrote a follow-up to my review (almost a year later mind you) to try to explain what happened with my radio. Well, the owner is getting the story all wrong from his employees. Nobody at this company ever told me that the radio was damaged by the shipping company and to file a claim with them. And, the radio was not damaged by the shipping company! I collect old radios and the reason this radio did not work (ie. play AM stations) was that the capacitors were old and needed replacing (re-capped). This is common with old tube radios and if they have not been "re-capped" the radio will not work. It will turn on, but all you get is static. This radio had never been "re-capped". Re-capping costs me about $50-$75 to have done for a radio. I would not have paid as much for this radio if I knew it was not working and needed to be re-capped. It had nothing to do with damage in shipping. The owner's response is a feeble attempt to explain poor customer service and a mistake that his employees made. Rather than admit the mistake, he tries to justify it in writing and make it my fault. And then he offers me $25 for a future purchase? Why would I want to buy from this company again? I would have accepted a $25 credit back when this first happened.....but a credit towards a future purchase? No thanks. read more

I went to pickup an auction item today. Tucker, one of the owners, was having problems printing out the invoice. That took about 10 minutes and maybe that put him in a bad mood. The bill was for $16.50 so I handed him a twenty and then 2 quarters. He gave me $3 in change and I said no, he owed me $4. He said no that I was wrong and we went back and forth over this. I told him that I used to be a math teacher. Finally, he gives me the extra one dollar with a couple of disparaging remarks such as "bet you're not teaching anymore". When I got into my car, he made comments about my bumper sticker! Not very professional at all. read more

Bogus artifacts. Had an issue with an item that turned out to be a completely bogus. I tried to resolve this in a professional reasonable way, but the auction house would not return my calls or messages. Had to turn to and authority that had some weight behind them to get results. There are too many auction houses out there that are honest and professional. Don't take your chances with this one. I wouldn't touch this auction house with a 10 foot pole. read more

Bidder beware, I bough what was advertises and described as a Belgium Browning "Safari" Bolt Action Rifle 30-06. on 1/12/2019 in the OLD WEST AND FIREARMS NEW YEAR SALE. When I received the rifle I was in total disbelief, the rifle so nothing as described in fact it was not even a BROWNING SAFARI- not even close, Yes it had a Browning barrel and action and these were marked Made in Belgium, Browning, it was a bolt action and a 30-06. It was described as to having an "original Blue'd barrel- again not even close to being "Original"- the barrel and action had been re-blue incorrectly and poorly. The stock was described as being refinished- turn out that the stock was not even a Browning stock but an after market composite- if it were a "SAFARI" model as advertised/described the stock would have been wooden not a composite. Again the stock was refinished very poorly and unprofessional-which was not in the description. To add insult to injury- as and online bidder-I relied on the HOME PAGE which stated "you can buy with confidence because our professional cataloging team makes sure that our descriptions and pictures accurately represent the item- what a lie. Anyone dealing with this company on line BEWARE-BEWARE-BEWARE, these people are not to be trusted. Please do your homework and investigate this company first. I participated in the most recent auction that was held. I bid on numerous items and ended up as the winning bid on two items. I paid all of their charges, though I objected to their very exorbitant shipping charges. Their charges already had included a 20% charge on top of the other costs. Their website clearly stated that I would deal with the shipping company directly, and they appeared to be a reputable firm; however, I should have read the reviews, because it is now obvious I would have thought real hard about dealing with them. I am very experienced in utilizing many other on-line auctions, and I have never felt ripped off as with these people, and as well as never met with such obvious haughty and arrogant disdain from MRS, Markovich, whose only reply was to threaten to not finally ship my already paid for items and already the already included 20% added "service" charge. I informed them via email that they would be paid under protest and I would indeed go out of my way to inform as many others of their fraud, which included misrepresenting the actual shipping charges and as well as their claims of being able to deal directly with the actual and separate shipping company. I checked with the shipping company and as a result found that North American had charge about 3-4 times as much as the actual costs. It is bad enough to be an honest customer dealing with an obviously opposite dealer, but to be arrogantly and summarily dismissed as less than nothing but a money maker for them and unimportant nusiance on top, is below and beyond belief. This is the first of many negative reviews and personal feedbacks I will pass on to many others. read more
