Do not use this company! Several of our things arrived broken. We spent a good amount of money to pack boxes with care and we made sure to label each box. The boxes labeled "fragile, this side up" came back upside down, significant amount of bubble wrapped glass was broken, two of our dresser's (only had them for 6months, purchased new) arrived with broken legs, and our living room arc lamp came back broken. Clearly zero regard for our personal belongings. They will tell you at your quote visit that they will treat your items with care and that unlike other companies they will follow up with a call to see how the move went. There was no call until we emailed them. They sent a restoration company out to asses the damage and he let us know we'd be better off replacing the furniture due to the amount of damage. Moving is stressful enough as it is, but with all this it just added more unnecessary stress. We will never use them again nor will we recommend them to anyone. read more

Scheduled my move months out for this past weekend and never once received a call from anyone about pick-up. By 5-6pm on the last potential day of pick-up, we called the mainline repeatedly for information and sent emails to the company contacts we had. After several calls, one woman answered and said she would call me back 10-15 min later once she figured out what was causing the delay. Hours went by with no callback even when I tried the mainline again and left more voicemails for a call to be returned. She later accidentally sent an email to me (it was addressed to I'm assuming whoever oversees the truck/mover management) asking for a truck ETA and included in her message, "the lady is calling for an update on where the truck is". I responded to her email requesting she call me with an update, but again, no response. Entirely unprofessional and disrespectful. We waited the entire weekend as directed and cleared all plans, only to be left in the dark. We were honestly exasperated and a bit outraged. Please don't choose the company... I regret it so much at this point. I wish I had chosen a service that is more reliable. When you're already stressed by moving in the first place, the last thing you want is a major complication like this to happen. read more

I moved from Florida to Texas, they picked up my belongings as scheduled. However when my belongings arrived at my destination, every piece of furniture has some sort of damage. I had a stationary exercise bike, that I use to finish my recovery from a stroke. However when it arrived at my new location, they had stolen the computer an the pin that holds it to together. The driver knew it because he said if we didn't find it, he would take care of it. Of course he would never answer his phone.I filed a claim, . But because I have a 500.00 deductible, they aren't going to pay me for it, even though when it was put on truck the bike was in tact . Don't use this moving company, they will not take care of your belongings, but they will charge you. Even the packers that came an packed up were terrible. Found out that we when they used the wardrobe boxes for my clothes, they just through them in the bottom. The packers are suppose to be certified after going to school. This company called and left me a message and email to tell me their driver and loaders "failed out" or flaked on us one week before our move out of state. although they "said" they were working on other avenues I never got a call back with any other remedies or even an apology. Good thing for us we found a 26 FT U-Haul truck to rent and hire some loaders. I will drive the load to our new plane in Montana my self. I have friends that are moving and will tell them to not use these people and I also told our realtor about them and she will be sure to not recommend their services. these people have added a lot more stress to what is already a stressful event in one's life but I am sure the do not give a F@ck about that. Absolute worst moving company. "Grant" the sales rep I've been dealing with is extremely disrespectful and told me to stop calling him. It's been 11 days and I haven't gotten an update. If i could give a zero I WOULD. BY FAR the WORST moving expierence i have ever, ever experienced. The amount of damage to our belongings is likely more than what we paid them to move. Couches were broken, sideboard legs were broken, coffee table was broken, glassware was broken (boxes the glasses were in were DAMAGED), dresser was broken in two places. I would RUN run run from this company. Don't be fooled if they tell you they don't use third parties, we booked with Terry Bass from North American Van Lines, and then delt with The Moving Connection, and then delt with Western Express at the very end, when were told (and specifically ASKED) that we would not be passed on to third parties, or other companies, which they clearly lied. We will FIGHT this company will all we have to get money back and get reimbursed for everything that was broken. read more

Moved from Seattle, WA to Alameda, CA in June 2014. The salesperson was nice, great, welcoming, friendly, great customer service. After we paid he never answered his phone, returned calls or emails. The service was terrible, 507 companies involved from truck driver, packing, unpacking, local move, storage, etc. Nobody knew anything, all tried to charge more, a really painful move and we have moved 7 states. Lots of damaged items, changed dates, charged for unpacking but then did not want to complete the service. Everybody company blamed the other one when something went wrong. I will not recommend this company to anybody. Do not believe the nice, charming, amazing sales guy, he/she will disapear on you! read more

By far the worst moving experience I've had. We moved from North Carolina to Pennsylvania and the damage to our furniture was staggering. The settlement process is laughable, and the check we received was about 1/10 of the amount of the loss incurred. Don't use them. read more

I'm very disappointed with the service we received. Do you know how terrible it is sleeping on air mattresses during Christmas, freezing because all of your stuff was packed away with a company that promised us a delivery time? Because I do now. The driver had called and told us he would deliver that Wednesday, then would try for Friday (which he didn't). It then showed up six days after the latest possible time point in the window. The group unloading our packages was throwing boxes around and made a giant mess of our bathroom (it took considerable cleaning). I am incredibly dissatisfied with the service. When i expressed my frustration to the dispatcher i was told also how it could be worse and that they have other customers with month long delays. I was also not thrilled that when I showed the driver how items had been bent or ruined he tried to bend them back and further damaged the material. Moreover when I expressed these concerns to employees I didn't even receive an acknowledgement of what happened. Filing claims is a nightmare, I have low expectations for ang compensation. We spent over $14k for a service that showed up late, provided terrible customer service and still broken many of our items. read more

Absolutely DO NOT use North American Moving Services! One of the worst experiences of my life! Here's the story: I recently decided to move from LA to Phoenix. I was in the process of buying a home but had not closed yet so I reserved a secure, gated, air-conditioned storage facility. I met with a "move consultant" (Brenda) from North American and decided to go with them. They talked me into buying additional insurance to cover damages at a price of $163 and guaranteed that my belongings would be delivered between Monday, September 10th and Wednesday, September 12th. Here we go... - I call on Monday to check the status and I'm told that the movers will arrive on Tuesday - I call on Tuesday and I'm told that the movers will arrive on Wednesday - I receive a call Tuesday night and I'm told that the movers will arrive on Saturday (recall that it was "guaranteed" to arrive by Wednesday). I explain that this doesn't work because I'm leaving for vacation on Saturday. They then agree to deliver on Friday morning between 6-8am. - I call at 6:30am on Friday to check the status - the truck HASN'T EVEN LEFT CALIFORNIA. I'm told that it will arrive between 4-6pm. - I call at 6pm and I'm told that they will arrive between 8-8:30pm - I call at 8:15pm and I'm told that they are 70 miles away - The truck arrives at almost 11pm After 2-3 hours, everything is offloaded. We are told that we have months to make a claim in case anything is damaged. I go home to get a few hours of sleep before heading to the airport. Once I arrive back to Phoenix and close on the new home, I hire a different moving company to transport everything from storage to the house. Before moving anything, I explain to them that I want to check for damage from the previous move. During this process I find a handful of items totaling thousands of dollars of damage (cracks, scratches, nicks, etc) and one missing item. Before moving any of those items, I took pictures to document the damage and prove that the items had not yet been moved. Weeks after submitting a claim, I receive $100 from North American for the delivery being late. Basically a slap in the face after going through all of that. Weeks after this, I receive a letter from North American explaining that they are not accepting liability for the damages because they do not "have control over the access of a private storage facility...". Now ask yourself: What location DO they have control over??? The answer is that there are none. A day or two later I was able to speak with a manager named Tamara and she explained to me that they would not take responsibility because no damage was noted at the time of delivery. Apparently, I was supposed to unwrap/unbox the entire contents of a home at midnight to check for damage then rewrap/rebox everything and move it into storage. This would have taken hours. Not only did our "move consultant" not make us aware of this but the movers didn't say anything either. In fact, they reiterated that we had months to make a claim. At the end of the day they were not willing to pay anything for the damages or reimburse me for the "additional insurance" I was talked into purchasing. $3,000+ to move, given the runaround for an entire week for delivery, and thousands of dollars in damage. DO NOT USE NORTH AMERICAN MOVING SERVICES! If you have to pay more for a different company, do it! read more

We went with North American Van Lines for a move from Boston to Pittsburgh. We met with their sales rep, and discussed a timeline for when we would need our belongings to arrive by. We had a set delivery window of July 23-31st. On July 30th, we had gotten no information called the company to find out that there weren't actually any drivers to complete our move by the 31st, and they had no idea when it would arrive. They've now told us we won't be receiving our belongings until August 12th - TWO WEEKS AFTER the date that had been discussed, and was agreed to per the contract. It took three days of endless phone calls and emails to even get this answer. Completely unacceptable, and absolutely no care for the customer. Run FAR FAR away with this company, and anyone else affiliated with them. read more

Very disappointed in our moving experience. Many items were missing, and they tried to give us things that did not belong to us. When I said I didn't recognize a box, one of the movers would rip it open to see what was inside, ruining the box. This signaled to me that they would not be working to reunite these items with their rightful owner. When I hesitated to sign off on the paperwork because of the missing items, the other mover told me I would have 90 days to report any missing or damaged items. When I submitted the paperwork for our missing items, I was told after a lengthy waiting period that because I did not report the missing items on arrival they were not eligible for reimbursement. I was also told at the front end that our beds would be assembled at the destination. The movers told us they would not assemble the beds, and the hardware for the beds was missing. At the end of the day our furniture was delivered 2 days late. We are missing all of our pots and pans and a few other things, and we had to throw out a bed because of the missing parts. read more

I moved from Sherman Oaks (LA) to the WDC area in April 2017. North American Van Lines transported my goods cross country. I had the Protection Plan and paid just under $13,000 to have my possessions transported from one point to the other. Here' s the problem: Some items were lost. Even with a video taken just before the move showing the missing items, North American refused to honor the claim. The items did not show up on the inventory form because North American's affiliate failed to properly note the items on the inventory sheet and the protection plan failed to protect me. North American did honor my claim for broken crystal glasses (irreplaceable) because the remnants arrived to the destination. I appealed the refusal but North American had no interest in other forms of proof even though we were under contract. I seriously considered legal action but the cost of legal representation would have outweighed my loss. read more

I am a senior citizen who was taken advantage of!! I honestly don't know if it was the company that they contracted in Ayer MA or them; but SOMEONE went through my boxes. They took the bottom tape off and stole my $300 watch, an $800 diamond bracelet, and a gold bracelet with sentimental value from a job right from the containers! When I filed a claim, I received a response saying that I had apparently signed something saying that I didn't have these types of items. I was never asked if I had a watch worth or bracelet worth a lot of money. I was asked if I had paintings or antiques. I said no. So now because I signed that statement, they will not reimburse me. Mind you, I paid $7,000 to have them move my items! DO NOT USE this company unless you understand everything you sign because apparently, it is a given that someone WILL go through your boxes. PLEASE look at the pictures! I only put 3 rows of tape on the bottom. Now you can see there is much more tape on the bottom plus the box is all distorted. read more

At first these people gave us a quote we could live with-we got delayed moving and 5 months later they doubled the quote,saying their drivers and trucks hadn't had a break-should have been a "red flag"warning,but hubby insisted to .not worry about it as he didn't want to deal with another company...the driver had us believing in what he said-"oh i put a lock on this trailer and it doesn't get unlocked until we get to your new state",and he was SUPPOSED to take it and drop the trailer until we could close on the house in new state....NOPE he FLAT OUT LIED....he took another load to Dallas while our stuff went right along for the ride,because when he got here someone else's stuff was in with ours!-had to tell him "THAT ISN'T OURS!"....then if that wasn't bad enough he hired horrible help to unload and they got tired and disgusted and started cramming things in the out buildings-dropped box of my records that was thrown on my husband's tool cart....complained the whole time they were unloading because driver had to leave the premises and go to a ATM,and wasn't here to witness the chaos....upon loading at old house he allowed a propane grill bottle and 3 bags of charcoal from my husband's outdoor kitchen to be loaded....months later we find out that they "mysteriously disappeared"....i understand if they wasn't allowed upon loading,but to load them and make us think we were allowed to keep them,especially since he said"no problem" and allowed them to be loaded at old house and us NOT to have them all of a sudden is THEFT!....i would have GIVEN them to people back at old house if they weren't allowed to be on board,but to down right steal them is THEFT!....also when we had our furniture wrapped the way we wanted it ,he came along and redid our wrapping stating the way we had it would ruin the furniture....i had left things in my buffet,and the way it was when it arrived i couldn't even open the drawers because the contents had shifted....the lady told us we could leave stuff in drawers....now you have a $500 deductable to where if any small stuff gets broken or lost you are out of luck!-SO if we call or make a claim,they would tell us "the propane bottle and charlcoal shouldn't have been on the truck"....OK HOWEVER it was YOUR driver that ALLOWED it!.....we even asked him "we thought that was illegal or haz mat"....he SAID "i haven't ever heard that"....go figure-a corrupt company making thousands off of situations like ours....i hope my review and other negative reviews here at least get enough people to not use them-that would be so NICE if they lost customers if the truth comes out enough times! read more

This is possibly the WORST company that I've ever dealt with. I've I were allowed to give a zero, I would! The customer service is atrocious. 'Donna', who claims to be a senior customer service rep, is by far the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with. No one returns calls or email. Our delivery was slated for EARLY August...three weeks later, and no delivery. I was told a truck driver shortage. Maybe something to tell people ahead of time? Terrible experience with our big move from IL to TX with North American group based out of IL. Everything started with bad estimates, leading to delays in packing/loading, 3 week delay in getting shipment (and in 2 parts) to losing 15+ boxes. The sales rep expects the client to know if the number of boxes she recommended was accurate and enough...why would we need them if we could estimate. The company is more keen on collecting money for their services and delivery than ensuring that the customer has a good experience. The only positive was the way the truck drivers and their crew helped out. I got two survey/review calls in which I provided all details and no one had the courtesy to call back and check. Representative Jared Beek came to my house to do an estimate (which was cursory at best) then later said they could not service my move (my interpretation is that the move was too "small" for them). Took me many emails and phone calls to finally get an answer that they do not do moves under 500 miles. Would have been nice to know this before they came to my house. To her credit, Liz Bussell took the blame for not looking up the distance before sending Jared to do the estimate. Overall very unprofessional service. I contracted with Saunier Moving company in Winchester KY assuming that they would be the ones moving my entire household to FL. I had used Saunier's twice before and they were fantastic! The day before the move I was told that North American Van Lines would be moving my belongings. Driver was late showing up and he was by himself. Told all day that a crew would be coming to help. Had to leave to drive to Atlanta that day and he assured me everything would be packed and ready to go that day so that I could leave. I couldn't even read his inventory, had no idea what he had put on inventory but had to sign and leave not knowing! He said he would text that night when he was departing and never did......not a good sign. Had someone check on the house the next morning and he was still there, by himself. I had left gifts of beer and wine for realtor and friends and he took and drank it! He threatened that if I complained I may never see my property again! Did not receive any of my property for 12 days, last day of contract. Everything that I owned was scratched, broken, or not even there. Claims department is a joke. Had the $500 deductible and received a measly $80 check. Things that my mother made and painted were broken, corner cupboard my dad made broken, had to throw away furniture because of how badly broken. Please do NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

I came in to contact with North American Van Lines after using a local company in Seattle to crate and store my apartment furnishings for a year. When planning to move to Texas, the local agency contracts with North American Van Lines to move the crate interstate. The pickup of the crate was cancelled 4 times, usually at the last minute so it was impossible to make plans or arrangements to accommodate these problems. On the telephone customer service almost always sent me to voicemail, which was never returned. On the rare times I did get someone on the phone, the information was either inaccurate or incomplete. After the four cancellations of the pickup I implored the representatives to personally follow up on my contract, but this did not happen and I was told whatever needed to be said to get me off the phone as quick as possible. Lastly, despite all the mistakes and delays on their part they refused to offer delay compensation on a technicality, which gave me absolutely no recompensense in my dispute or an incentive for them to actually get the shipment to me on time. read more

If I had a half a star or zero Stars I would give it that my parents hired them to move them from California to Arizona not only do they not have all their belongings their stuff arrived which they got is damaged they were paid before the move unfortunately my parents are elderly and they paid they made the big mistake of paying them before the move not only did they pay them before they move they expected payment when they arrived here with half of their stuff the other half of their stuff is sitting in some damn Warehouse in California beware do not let your parents let them use this company they are the worst ever and trying to get hold of someone in customer service to help you out is just as worse as the little company motherlode that they use and California that would be in Rancho Cordova do not use them major run around can I give you a straight answer so here we sit they moved here 2 weeks ago they don't even have half their stuff yet they can't put beds together because guess what it's with them and some damn Warehouse and Rancho Cordova I intend on taking this further I just wanted everybody to be where do not use this company do not use motherlode read more

I would NOT recommend this company to any of my friends. This was a bad experience from the start. The kid they sent out to do the estimate was in a rush to get through (I think because he was the only one estimating while the others were on vacation). He missed a lot of stuff and severely underestimated the amount of space and crew needed. Took him a few weeks and a reminder call or two to get me the estimate. The crew showed up on moving day and seemed OK until they realized we had too much stuff for them to handle due to the poor estimate. They got sloppy as they rushed and broke a number of things. We watched as our chiminea was picked up by the neck and snapped in two. Filing a claim afterwards was like dealing with a government agency. More stalling and bureaucratic BS than anything else. We got a terse reply and no offer to reevaluate when we called to clarify. Take my advice: read everything twice and make sure you select the highest amount for reimbursement. We got paid 60 cents per pound for the broken chiminea. The chest freezer they broke was not paid for at all since they "had no way of knowing that it worked before the move". It was obvious they didn't really care to make things right now that they had our money. read more

We had received an estimate for moving from Sandercock North American Van Lines in San Luis Obispo, CA. After a month of promises to move us, today they abruptly told us they would not. When we received the estimate we thought it seemed high and asked if it was correct. They became angry that we asked and we said we'd get back to them. They became angrier and said they would send an Invoice for used packaging paper we had received. Then they stopped taking our phone calls or returning calls. After about a week when I got through (one month before the move date) they told us t hat they would not be able to move us at all and they thought we had another mover. We had numerous conversations with them and we were told that as long as we signed by 1 October there was no problem. When I called corporate they sent me to voice mail. This is not the reliable mover and I don't see how a rogue company operates within this corporate shell. You should be embarrassed.TODAY THEY LEFT US HIGH AND DRY WITHOUT A MOVER. I would like to offer our highest commendations for our packer/driver, Eugene Wasstig and his talent in orchestrating a well organized approach to moving our possessions. We had a house and an art studio to transport from south Florida to New Mexico. Eugene was organized, calling me to days before the pick up to alert me and familiarize me with the process. He was pleasant to be around and made our move much more comfortable than we expected. We were amazed at his ability to pack and organize everything such a full load, and even more so as he used every available space on his truck. He could not have been more accommodating at our destination and was always willing to be helpful and solve problems. He always took the extra step to be agreeable and we could imagine having a neighbor or friend like Eugene. I can assure we would ask for him again if ever an opportunity should arise for his service. It was excellent . North American Van Lines are fortunate to have Eugene Wasstig as a contract driver, and anyone moving should ask for Eugene. You won't go wrong. read more
