My wife needed water therapy for a botched hip replacement surgery. When attempting to contact them, they do not answer the phone and are generally unfriendly. The last voicemail we got, they said they were blocking our phone number because of our frustration. Despite being excellent, North Bay has not paid the physical therapist with whom we are currently working. We simply wanted to resolve the payment issues and referral process with her doctor but were shut down. Totally unprofessional and non-responsive to our needs. Vera has to find another job or not be involved with people's care. This could become dangerous and cause physical and legal consequences that could only result in someone not getting the care that they need or their business being shut down due to incompetence. read more

I just stopped in here to get a visual of their pool. Reception (Vera) was not pleasant or welcoming. She did take me back there, there were about 3 people in the tiny pool. She then proceeded to tell (lecture) me about I shouldn't have stopped in because we're in the middle of COVID. I was masked . So, if that was truly the case and policy; how about pleasantly saying "I'm sorry you will have to make an appointment" ?? Not a fan and I'm not choosing them for my PT. read more

Waste of time and money. It's difficult to find good physical therapy in the SC area. I've been told (by a physician) that you really should go to San Jose if you want the best. But if you are badly injured and rely on someone to drive you to therapy, that is often not an option. And when you need warm water therapy, you have even fewer choices. I was referred here, a few years ago, by an orthopedic surgeon. I did a few sessions and then left to do self-directed physical therapy at the public warm-water pool. I thought that NBPT had nothing to offer me, and that the atmosphere was unpleasant and a bit creepy. In my opinion they are just another sub-par PT operation milking the insurance system. Here is what I remember of the experience. For my first session, I had a student or apprentice working with me. She was great, until the owner came in and took over the session and spent the entire time shamelessly flirting with his (beautiful, young) apprentice. I thought she seemed to be uncomfortable with the unwanted attention, although I cannot know what was in her mind. I was furious at being used as an excuse for such harassment (it was inappropriate and was, by my measure, harassment). That session was a massage on a table, which is not what I went there for: I could have gotten a better massage for less than a fifth of the price they charged. (Like all PT businesses, the bill was multi-layered and itemized to the minute, and my co-pay was large as well. An hour session was really about 35 minutes of actual hands-on attention. Furthermore, the student/apprentice told me she was working for credit for her required clinical training, not pay. Yet they charged for her time.) I had one or two more sessions -- on the table, consisting of lifting my legs and twirling my feet, which is exactly what I did at home while lying on my bed -- before they let me use the pool. I was with the owner for this pool session. After lowering me in, this "therapist" told me to hang off the side of the pool and kick my legs slowly. Then he told me to glide across the pool a few times, without kicking off the side (the only piece of useful advice). And that was it. When I arrived for my last scheduled session (spouse having taken a day off of work to drive me there), I was told that it had been rescheduled. No one had bothered to notify me of the change. The owner was rude and accused me of forgetting (how can you forget information that was never conveyed?). I left and went to Simpkins Swim Center and used their wonderful warm-water water pool, which is just a few degrees cooler than the tiny pool at NBPT. I continued doing this program for the remainder of my recovery time, spending a handful of dollars for as much time in the pool as I wanted. I looked up exercise ideas on YouTube. Note that I passed on the private, "professional" PT sessions that my insurance covered, and instead opted for self-directed therapy at a public pool. That is how bad NBPT was! read more

I went to North Bay several years ago for help with joints made very uncomfortable by years of severe rheumatoid arthritis. The pool was absolutely the best thing ever for strengthening damaged joints without a whole lot of pain. Now I'm back - same joints and also work on balance. Again, working with Scott has been very helpful with some new ideas and retraining in the older skills I had kind of stopped doing. Again, working in the pool has been so helpful! Unfortunately I have MUCH experience with physical therapists, and places that offer PT. Hands down, North Bay Aquatic and Physical Therapy is The Best. There is no comparison. You get very individualized and personal 1 on 1 Therapy, whether it be excersizes in their warm water pool (no chlorine! they use salts!) Massage, Watsu, land excersizes, whatever your therapuedic needs may be, they can and will help you at this place. I HIGHLY reccomend them. read more

I was prescribed aquatherapy after a spine surgery. My surgeon was concerned about high potential for re-injury, as well as a jarring impact of land exercises. I made the right choice. The combination of aqua therapy, massage, a few well chosen stretches really increased my strength, eased post-op pain and helped healing. The pool is very warm with slightly padded walls and no chlorine. It is nice to be able to move in a safe, controlled environment when you are feeling very fragile. Their therapists listened to the feedback from my body and custom tailored the rehabilitation program to my needs.
