Was so excited the first time I discovered this place. The appointment process was so easy. All I had to do was pick up the phone and my next day appointment for a 90-minute couples massage was on the books. Getting there was easy-peasy. The location was amazing -- right in downtown Capitola. Parking wasn't a hassle. And the massage was one of the best I'd say I've ever had. And so inexpensive for the area and quality! We tipped generously ($40) and left very satisfied. Last weekend I went back with a friend who was visiting from out of town. I must say that after hyping up this place to her I'm now a little embarrassed. We booked our appointments on the day of, so it was nice of them to accommodate us. But there are things about this visit that just put a really bad taste in my mouth. For starters, they were running late which delayed our appointments. But I didn't let that bother me too much. Worse, the quality of the massage this time was terrible. The masseuse spent the entire 90 minutes rubbing me with lotion or running over my muscles with her elbows. I have never in my life wanted a massage to be over so badly. I can honestly say I hated every minute of it and was relieved when she signaled that our time had come to an end. My friend had a similarly lackluster experience. We each paid $90 for the massage and $11 tip. The woman who accepted our payment wasn't satisfied and asked for more tip, which I thought was tacky. I will grant that the prices there are beyond reasonable but no one should ever make you feel badly about an elective extra payment. Walking away, I realized I didn't feel comfortable returning to this place. I hope with enough time I change my mind, but again, this experience left a really sour taste in my mouth. read more

Pretty good massage for a good price. I booked a couple's massage with Winnie a few weeks ago. She changed the time on me once because she said her partner could only come in around a certain time and I was fine with that. However the day of she called me and said that we had two separate massages back to back and that she never knew I had wanted a couple's massage. Pretty disappointed but I let it go. I need therapeutic massage due to my profession (pool service) I am not a snob when it comes to the establishment as long as it is clean and it has an actual massage table, not a donut pillow on top of a table. This place is small... 3 tables , 2 are in one room separated by a curtain which was fine since I was with my friend. This place would be good for a couples massage. ..you basically would have the place to yourself. We made our appointment last minute and they were able to accommodate us. They made sure to specify that it was cash only ,$79 for a 90 minute massage, we paid $100 with tip, which is still very reasonable. Okay now for the good part...Winnie was my masseuse...she was absolutely amazing, because of all my injuries due to my job I have a million knots and I cannot handle deep tissue (too painful) I did not have to say a word , she was so methodical and worked each section to assess my issues and then would stop right before it became too painful and would move onto another section and then come back for another pass. I left feeling like a new person. Not sure the name of the masseuse that treated my friend but she was Very happy also. What I really enjoyed most is that she spent time on my scalp, love that! I really recommend doing the 90 minutes...it enables her to really find and work on your problem areas. You said you had no availability and if I could come in the next day. But your sign out front says "walk ins welcome" I didn't wash my hair last night because getting a massage always mucks it up. Got up & checked out of our room & hurried to make it there on time. Only to arrive to an empty place. We are leaving town & my boyfriend was kindly gonna wait for me while I got a 90 minute. We planned our day around it. I'd rather pay more to be valued. But I'm bummed. The 12pm appointment was fine but the whole point of a massage is to let go of stress, booking with your studio did the opposite for my life. I hate writing negative reviews, especially after our industry has been mandatorily closed for almost a year. I had the same experience as Marie G. above. Winnie actually told me how much to tip her. I had a pretty good 90 minute massage and was feeling pretty relaxed. I've always thought a 15%-20% tip was fair when it came to massages, however Winnie looked shocked when I told her the amount I wanted to leave as a tip. It was as if she did not understand. I started with a 16% tip (the end of the massage kinda just felt like she was rubbing oil on me instead of actually massaging, but I wasn't too upset about it) but she told me that most customers give a $30 tip for 90 minute massages. That is more than 40%! I tried a few more times to offer her a little bit more but she just kept insisting that most customers give $30 tip for the massage and that it is hard to massage for 90 minutes. After going back and forth 5 or so times I just gave up and gave her what she wanted. I now feel resentful and will never be returning to her. Sadly, I cannot recommend this business even though her actual massage skills are quite good. read more

I had a 90 minute massage with Winnie and it was incredible. She's very thorough, focuses on problem areas she notices, and even worked on some acupressure points. She was very kind and made sure I enjoyed the massage. The price was absurdly cheap, just what was listed, and so I tipped well. I feel like for the price she's offering, she's giving you the opportunity to tip according to the service. I feel like the previous reviews that had issues with the price may have been communication errors, as shes still working on her English, but I would also say don't be insulting with the tip just because the price is so affordable. I was in town for a long weekend and walked by Capitola Village Massage with a "walk-ins welcome" sign. My neck and shoulders had been quite tight so I popped in and Winnie was with a client. She told me to return in 30 minutes and I'm so glad I did. I chose a 30 minute massage with focus only on my shoulders and neck. Winnie's English isn't perfect -- you need to talk slowly and clearly for her -- but her massage technique is outstanding. She even applied some warm oil to my shoulder muscles to encourage them to relax. I returned only a few days later for a repeat 30 minute upper body massage. I came in for a much needed massage after seeing advertisement for new massage salon in my neighborhood. I saw on website that $49 was for 1 hr regular massage and $69 for 1 hr deep tissue. I asked for deep tissue massage. The treatment itself was great. The massage was thorough and Winnie applied the right amount of pressure needed. However, I was completely disappointed when upon paying, Winnie did not seem satisfied with my tip (16% ). She said asked for a bigger tip and stated her thumb was "swollen" from the treatment. I was appalled and blind sided by her request as I had already paid the extra $20 for deep tissue plus tip. So, I gave her an extra $20 bill and asked to break it into $5 bills, she must have misunderstood me and only gave me a $5 bill back. At this point, I decided to let it go and not argue. So in the end, she ended up with a 38% tip ($26). I have never before been asked for a "bigger tip" and this is too bad because I was planning on booking massages every 6 weeks as I need them frequently due to the nature of my work. I felt like I was cornered for more money. Had I known I was going to pay a total of $95 at a massage parlor, I might as well should have paid an extra $50 for an actual spa experience at a spa. I will not be returning to this place nor would I recommend it as I feel like I was not appreciated as a customer. read more
