We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at North Beach Campground. We spent 4 days in a full hookup site. The site was spacious, tree covered, and hard packed grass/dirt. Overall the site was very level with good water pressure. The water/electric sites in the middle of the campground were a bit snug. The campground is a city operated campground and we were impressed with the upkeep, maintenance and friendly service during our stay. The camp office is small, but has information on area attractions, Ice, and fire wood. The bathhouse/restrooms were well kept during our stay even with the volume of campers at the site. Location, Location, Location is the main reason to stay at North Beach. The campground is literally along the Island Line bike/walking trail and had direct access to the beach on Lake Champlain (life guards, snack bar, and patio bar). The city center of Burlington is only 1.5 miles along the bike path from the campground. Most days we either walked or biked into town (which has ample bike racks to park your bike). While we stayed in our camper, as a former die-hard tent camper, I was impressed with the number of tent friendly sites, because most campgrounds see tenters as "second class". The tent sites were spacious, level, and not located in some obscure location. We loved North Beach and plan to camp here in the future!

I was hesitant to stay here because of the mixed reviews but I am so happy I did! The campground is small, and like others mentioned, there isn't much privacy.... but if you're looking to relax with easy access to the lake AND city, then this campsite is for you! We drove up from North Shore MA and were so happy to arrive and see the amazing view at the water front. The campers on each side of us were extremely friendly and respectful, even offering us help at a few times (we aren't avid campers). The bathrooms were cleaned daily and the water pressure in the showers is STRONG. The lake was closed down half way through day 2 due to E.Coli but it's nice to know they take our health and safety seriously. The campsite was clean and quiet and we really enjoyed our time!

"Twist" creemee with vanilla and chocolate!

North Beach was fun to visit, especially during the week when it was so quiet! We came back on Saturday and it was very busy, and it was almost impossible to get a table and benches for a picnic although there are heaps of shaded grounds as well. The sand on the beach is fine, the water is clean and shallow for even children to enjoy, and the lifeguards are on hand nearby. The snack stand served a nice creemee with vanilla, chocolate, and "twist" -vanilla + chocolate- flavours on a cone. Admission and parking for us party of four was free during the week, and $8.00 on Saturday. There seems to be plenty of parking and there were beach staff directing and assisting with visitor parking on Saturday. On Saturday, there were events at the pavilion as well - one a private BBQ picnic and the other a birthday party with catered food set up on one side of the pavilion. There is a number listed on a post inside the pavilion that you're supposed to call to "book" the pavilion for events, although I'm not sure about the fee. There are children's playground and plenty of trees, and boats on the shore on Saturday crowded beach. There's bike rental available at the entrance to the parking lot, campground just past the take office, and a bike path up above the narrow tunnels between the campground and the beach. We'd gladly come back!

We tent camped at this campground for one night in September. The check in process was seamless (pick up some popcorn in the office!) and the campsites were clearly marked. Our campsite had a fire pit, water spout, electric hookup, and picnic table. The bathrooms were clean (did not look at shower facilities). There is a beach onsite with a beautiful view of the lake.

I LOVE CAMPING! This is not a camp ground. This is a parking lot with trees. They call it city camping to justify the proximity of the sites. The "camp site" I stayed in was surrounded in all directions by other people (I expect trees to surround me when I camp not drunken, loud obnoxious people who are up til 3 am). The bathrooms were never clean and there was excrement in the majority of the stalls. Wasn't even worth the view or how close the beach was.

Review Highlights - North Beach Campground and Park

One of the best tent/RV campgrounds we've stayed in due to the proximity to the greenway (bike trail) and great beach right on Lake Champlain.

On lovely Lake Champlain, the park possesses northeastern prettiness that could be offensive to haters. Sailboats. Bike paths. Attractive people pretending not to notice sunsets. And, there is always... A jogger. Someone reading poetry or prose. A couple sharing a blanket in a way that says they likely use summering as a verb. Burlington occasionally leans performative crunchy. Waterfront Park itself remains kinda immune to that. Open. Calm. Genuinely beautiful. It is the kind of place you might hear conversations about niche wine bars or an old-money family friend's lake house where everyone wears cashmere beside open water. Go around sunset. Great for getting a bit of exercise. There's lots to do around here as far as entertainment such as the ECHO Leahy Center, along with bars, restaurants, and stuff. Big park along the lake is a great way to describe it. It's conveniently located close to the Amtrak station. This is also close to the ECHO Leahy Center science museum, so it's close to lots of things. Has a lot of great views of the water and everything. Lots of room for dogs to run around and whatever. A bike path goes through it. This makes a great ride for those wanting to get some views. A few benches for those needing a breather. There's an ice cream place that's open in summer. Of course it's by the lake. There's not a beach but you can walk along it though. Has a lot of great things in and around it. It's a pretty big park and it's not crowded usually. There's lots of rooms for biking, walking, and whatever.

5/5 - Our Favorite Dog Park!…read more We've been bringing our GSP here 4-5 days a week for nearly a year, and 95% of the time it's a fantastic experience. There's a strong community of regulars, and most dog owners are responsible and attentive. You'll find a rhythm to the park: the 9am crew, the noon "puppy hour," and a lively 5pm group (avoid this time if your dog prefers a mellower vibe). In summer, there's water available and people often bring kiddie pools. The park is donation-based, so consider bringing your own water for your pup (and others!), just in case. As with any public space, you'll occasionally run into an untrained or aggressive dog--usually brought by someone new to dog parks. In the past year, I've only seen two serious incidents. In one case, a dog attacked another and was subsequently banned by the city. In another, a dog aggressively "resource guarded" its favorite best friend dog at the park, and attacked any other dog who wanted to play with his best friend. It was handled by the community. Incidents like these are rare but worth being aware of. Personally, I stay vigilant. I screen every new dog my pup meets and carry a pet corrector spray and small foghorn, just in case. I never assume others are as proactive, so I ask questions and stay alert. It's every owner's responsibility to manage their dog to ensure everyone's safety--that's how public spaces like this thrive. Overall, Starr Farm is hands-down the best dog park around. The positive experiences far outweigh the negative, and we've made great connections. There's even a "Friends of Starr Farm Dog Park" Facebook group, which has grown to include social outings for dog owners. My dog does well here because she's highly trained, socially savvy, and prefers fetch over pack play. If something seems off--like a checked-out owner or a dog with concerning behavior--I create distance or leave. There's also a smaller fenced-in area for shy, small, or young dogs right beside the larger fenced in area FYI. It shares the same parking lot and it's gated entrance is on the left side (when you park). A few asks to keep this space safe: - If your dog resource guards other dogs, please don't bring them here. If they resource guard high value "toys" or other dogs balls, please be aware of this while at the park and manage the situation (like don't bring it's favorite toy) to avoid creating triggers for aggression. - If your dog isn't up-to-date on vaccines or parasite prevention, please stay home. - If your dog is aggressive or attacks other dogs, this is not the place--try a private "Sniff Spot" rental instead. Community spaces only stay safe and welcoming if we protect them. This park is a gem because people genuinely care. Let's keep it that way!
