    Parking rates (October 2024)

Parked here while watching a movie at the AMC Kabuki theater. The lanes in the garage are cramped, with lots of waiting if you have idiots stalling in their vehicles in front of you, but we had no problems finding spaces available on a Saturday afternoon. Paying at the kiosks was quick and easy, and prices were affordable considering the location in SF. Also, I didn't feel insecure about the safety of my vehicle here.

This is a good place to park for Japan town. Everything is automated and easy to use. I can't really say much more than that. It's not that expensive for a parking garage in the city.

A lesson learned pre-covid in dining and shopping in this neighborhood, timing is everything. I started dining in Japantown more about three years ago, mostly for lunch. Knowing the lunch rush in those days, I usually came late mornings in shopping at the local markets before grabbing a bite for lunch. I would usually find parking along Post Street, feed the meter, and do the above. A couple years ago, SFMTA instituted a peak and non-peak time rate tier system with prime hours being more costly than non-peak. I did the math and learned that it was cheaper parking in this garage than parking on the streets. The ironic thing is that this is a City run lot too. Plus, in the last couple years, car break-ins, vandalism, and other crime issues made it a no-brainer to park in this secure two-level parking structure. There are pay stations on both levels though the ones downstairs are sometimes out of order. I suggest paying at the ground level machines before going to your vehicle downstairs, just in case. Some of the local businesses like Nijiya Market will offer validation parking (discounted) if you purchase over $30.00. Check with the other restaurants or businesses whether they are in the program. Highly recommend using this garage especially for visitors from out of the area who may have luggage or tempting items in the cab of their cars. Safe is better than sorry. *** Note, the garage was closed when I drove by yesterday, likely due to repairs. I believe they tentatively plan to reopen on Friday 1/7/22. ***** Double update - Sign now reads, Hopefully reopening Monday 1/10/22.

My friend's car rear window was smashed. Reading reviews I now realize it's a common thing at this garage.

I also have a dash cam which shows me parking.. my own car at the spot he directed to. Drove in at around 12pm on a Tuesday.. Parked in many parking garage already in the past. Ticket at kiosk before entering structure. (Paper) Goes in and one of the works points at a spot so I park into it. He asked me to give him my ticket (the one from the kiosk). Then he says "leave the keys in the car" so I get out and say "ok is that it?" He goes "how long are you going to park here? me: 20-40 mins" And hes like ok go so I leave. I get back and try to pay for the parking and the guy asked for my ticket receipt. Well I don't have it because I never got one.. And so charged max price for the ticket 25$ for like 45 minutes.. Back and forth with cashier "How did you not get a ticket we wouldn't have parked your car otherwise?" Well its so strange.. because I parked the car... and I left the keys in the car when the guy asked me to. The ticket receipt is also a massive card thats thick I definitely did not get one.. How can I get a 25$ charge when they have when I entered. Look at the enter and paid time.. It's a piece of paper too not some fob or keycard that's magnetic so it would make sense to charge the max. What kind of parking garage has a system where a person is responsible for even giving you a charge receipt when every OTHER garage in just takes a ticket and that's the thing you pay to get out with. Maybe just a SF thing.. But here we have a ticket at the kiosk to then hand to someone else to give you a separate ticket??? TLDR Just use any other parking garage in the finical district.. Or I guess make sure you get the ticket. Also there are no instructions for this place which I guess is a no brainer what kind of parking garage has a system like this that would require instructions.

One of the best rates you'll find since the downtown parking shortage began in 2010 with the demolition of the Transbay Terminal for construction of the Transbay Transit Center.
