This restaurant has been a go to for over 30 years in my family. Not this exact location but remarkably the pizza is still excellent quality! The crust is traditional and flavorful and exactly like I remember. Still great service and friendly faces. Lots of menu choices and still great service! There's even a location in Berkeley but it may not still be there. If you are in SF this is a worthwhile stop!

I'm sincerely apologize for the terrible picture I took of the Dolores pizza but that just goes to show how much I loved it. The hot honey drizzled on it was delicious. I'll be running here again to get the same pizza. I'm so glad I was bold in choosing this flavor as opposed to my safe choice of pesto. Can't vouch for the ambiance, I ordered the pizza to go. The dough was very nice, it was surprisingly soft yet crispy on the edges. I do wish they gave us more pepper flakes but I guess I could have just asked them for more.

I went here for lunch seated right away, I got the spicy shrimp Diablo add bread and a side of steamed vegetables both are fresh and tasty. my server Edwards is very attentive. Will be back soon.

ordered take out. the XL pizza was big enough for 4-5 people surprisingly. it was delicious. lots of toppings. a bit too greasy imo. but still tasty. it did not take long to deliver either. so that was a plus. would order from here again.

From Brazil to North Beach! I have lived in North Beach, San Francisco, for over twenty-five years. During my early years here, I discovered North Beach Pizza and became a loyal customer at its original location. Their pizza was one of the closest ones to New York pizza, and I loved and enjoyed it during my years there. So it came as a surprise to me when I realized I had never reviewed them on Yelp! Before starting to write this review, I researched their history online. What I learned surprised me because I assumed the owners were Italian or Italian Americans all these years, and I was wrong! Al Souza, a Brazilian immigrant, launched his restaurant career in 1976 with a San Francisco pizza shop called California Pizza. Though he held a computer science degree from the University of San Francisco, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to the restaurant industry. After honing his management skills at Church's Fried Chicken and Wendy's, he set his sights on a new venture. In 1982, Souza opened the first North Beach Pizza on Grant Avenue, San Francisco. This innovative concept offered a value-oriented menu with fast and reliable computerized delivery, a system he developed. The success was immediate, attracting hundreds of businesses throughout the city. Capitalizing on this momentum, Souza opened a second location nearby in 1986. Today, North Beach Pizza boasts a growing empire with multiple San Francisco locations, including one under construction on Pier 39 and further expansion into Berkeley and San Mateo. Beyond building a restaurant empire, Souza is a recognized leader within the Bay Area's Brazilian community. He's known for mentoring former employees and fellow Brazilians, helping them launch successful businesses. We ordered a medium pie, half Aloha and half Meat Lovers, to take out during our last visit. We called and placed the order, and when we got there, it was ready and waiting for us. The Aloha comes with Canadian Bacon, Ham, and Pineapple. Meat Lovers is topped with sausage, salami, pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, and meatballs. We asked for the crust to be extra crusty, and it was. I wouldn't say I like sweet pizzas, but the Aloha tasted good. On the other hand, Meat Lovers is filling and delivers lots of flavors. One of the things I like about this North Beach Pizza location is the smiling and friendly staff. The dining area is charming, too. It is roomy and well-set up. We last ate there a while ago, but we will soon.

Some sandwiches come with lots of meats and some are saucy and some get cheesy like some in SF. There are some famous and historical places to grab sandwiches in North Beach like Molinari and Freddie's. There is also a place on Columbus Avenue by Joe DiMaggio playground park on which has a French name and serves up some of San Francisco finest sandwiches and it's called" Le Sandwich ". On a Winter season stroll in the beginning of 2026 , I landed at Le Sandwich. This place has lots of sandwiches available made by Chef Elias. I decided to try their Primo ( means Prime in Italian) sandwich. I have to say this is one of the tastiest sandwiches I had in San Francisco. It had meats which were tender such as Genoa Salami, coppa, and ham. It's has melting provolone which made it cheesy like some in SF. They also have FikaLove which is baked goods available like chocolate croissants and cinnamon buns for Fika( Swedish for Coffee break). We ordered the crab chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl. The bread was stale, dry, and hard, making it difficult to enjoy. On top of that, the chowder itself wasn't even hot, it was barely warm. For a chowder restaurant, this was really surprising and disappointing. We let our waitress know about our concerns, and her response was simply that she would let the chef know. There wasn't much acknowledgment beyond that, which made the experience even more underwhelming. Overall, we left disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place based on our experience.
