This last visit reminded me that I don't *have to* go here and can find another option. I called to schedule an appointment because I was worried about my dog's teeth. They booked her for a dental cleaning procedure and sent me an estimate of $738.59 for a Grade 1 cleaning, which includes the cleaning as well as simple extractions if necessary (of the easy teeth, I guess). We went in for bloodwork and the first tech said there was "no reason to expect additional extractions" but I asked for the Grade 2 estimate just in case, which was $1,118.68-$1,124.34. The tech that called for pre-op the night before the surgery also said there was no reason to expect extractions. When we checked in the morning of the surgery, that tech *also* said there was no reason to expect additional extractions. Dr. Carr called in the middle of the procedure to tell me that my dog, Evie, would need *12* of her 40 teeth extracted, which moved us to a Grade 2 estimate of $1,118.68-$1,124.34. So we went from "extractions unlikely" to my dog losing 30% of her teeth when it was too late to do anything but accept it. Side note, it seems they monitor pets well during anesthesia, but if anything does go wrong, they will charge you an additional $500.00 for CPR, which they said only 5% of pets survive. For this dental visit, I paid $150.69 for bloodwork and $1,087.89 for the procedure for a total of $1,238.58 The estimates are attached. I'm sharing for pricing transparency so others can make more informed decisions about pet care. FWIW, I get my dog's teeth brushed every time I get her groomed, I regularly feed her Dentastix/Greenies, and we use tooth-cleaning toys during playtime. EDIT: I had a lovely conversation with hospital manager Ellie about this review. It was very clear they value feedback and take action to remedy concerns. That's deeply appreciated. EDIT 2: Despite my post-op care instructions saying, "There are no sutures that need to be removed," here I am in the lobby waiting on them to remove sutures. There's about a 1-inch piece of fishing line-type string hanging out of my dog's mouth. There are knots and loops in it so it's getting caught on things, which as you can imagine is unpleasant for her given that the rest of it is still attached to her gums.

It was an extremely traumatic experience for both me and my wife. While the nurses were all nice enough, our grievances primarily lie with the doctor who was responsible for our dog's care that night: Brina Baker. She was immediately unapproachable, despite the awfulness of the situation. I calmly tried to explain what happened as soon as she introduced herself, at which point she instantly cut me off, saying curtly that she would conduct her own examination of my dog. She then gave me a quick assessment of what she thought would need to be done with our dog that night, and then got visibly irritated when I asked her to repeat what she had told me to my wife, who was nearly inconsolable over the phone and on her way to VEG (our dog was bleeding and had suffered several bites from a large pit; he is a miniature goldendoodle). Her exact words were something to the effect of, "keep your wife on the phone so I don't have to keep repeating myself." The nurse took our dog away for some x-rays and diagnostics, the results of which were never explained to us, as our dog was immediately put under anesthesia and placed on the operating table. We did agree to have him put under and have his wounds seen to but didn't realize we'd be in the dark as to what the x-rays showed, and what exactly was going to be done to him. Dr. Baker had initially said that she was going to determine what she'd do after the x-rays were taken, because it was only then that we would see whether the attacking dog's bite marks had perforated the abdominal wall. When we tried to ask about what the prognosis was, and what Dr. Baker was doing to him--even after she had told us we could come up and watch them operate on him on the table--she tersely refused to explain anything until the operation was over, and no one bothered to explain how bad our dog's injuries were prior to that point either. DURING the operation, while my wife and I were sitting completely distraught in a corner of the ER, Dr. Baker laughed and joked with the nurses in the building while suturing our dog and installing a drain in his stomach. At one point, she loudly stated, "I've never done this before" to one of the other employees. Whether this referred to installing a drain or installing that specific kind of drain in that way, we did not know, but this was EXTREMELY troubling. At one point, she also shouted at a nurse an order for a certain amount of medication, which was relayed incorrectly back to her, and which she confirmed anyway. Luckily, a third nurse heard the discrepancy and corrected it, at which point Dr. Baker laughed it off flippantly. At this point, my wife and I had no faith in her, but decided to keep quiet since our dog was under her knife. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and the drain that Dr. Baker installed was put in so haphazardly (this was confirmed by both our primary vet and a specialist) that our dog developed an abscess and inflamed lymph nodes around where the procedure took place, which also led to a limp in his front left leg, due to further inflammation of lymph nodes in his arm resulting from infection. We have been told that the drain was not only too big but also oriented incorrectly. Not only did we pay nearly $2,500 the night that we visited VEG, but we were also emotionally tormented by Dr. Baker's flippancy, uncommunicativeness, and utter lack of compassion, as well as left with enduring health complications that we are still dealing with as a result of how she botched his wound treatment. At this point, we are evaluating our options as far as how to get justice for how we and our dog were treated, as we believe he was the victim of malpractice. For the amount of money we paid the night we came in (and VEG, as an ER, is extremely expensive), we deserved better from both a veterinary and an interpersonal perspective.

We've been going here since 2019 and as of 2026, this is the reason we are considering leaving the practice. It's almost like the front desk staff do not want to be there or are burned out. I called today to book an appointment and when I called back in 5-7 minutes, Courtney was very short and rude in communicating that they book up fast and those times are no longer available but said I can pay more for an emergency visit. I completely understand they book up in minutes so that's not the issue. The communication lately has been met with tension and defensive just from asking a simple question. We also had a not so pleasant experience with someone at front desk during the last visit in April. I get they probably deal with a lot of entitled people being in Buckhead so just know they are not the most welcoming nor friendly and are very firm in their communication. Unfortunately, I cannot bear to drive 35 - 40 minutes again to be met with less than stellar service nor pay extra for an emergency visit here. Healthcare for pets should have the same compassion and care as Healthcare for humans. No human wants to go to a hospital or doctor's office where the staff are not welcoming and the same goes for pets. It's very unfortunate because the doctors are awesome! We were also driving from North Marietta to see the doctors since we moved out of the area and the customer service doesn't make the drive worth it. It used to not feel this way back in 2019 which makes me think these staff are burned out and tired. I hope things change for the better!

Recently started integrating holistic practices Into my family's (doggo, boyfriend and I) daily…read moreroutines, and naturally I had to find the BEST integrative veterinarian near me. Was recommended I go see Dr. Whitaker by my holistic acupuncturist, Oscar Sierra. I called and made an appointment the week of Thanksgiving and to my surprise, they were able to fit me in sooner than expected. The office visit costs $85, which is double what I used to pay in kennesaw, but hey, HEALTH IS WEALTH! I came to the appointment with a few small concerns with my pup, Levi. Dr. Whitaker was so very knowledgeable and helpful. He really took his time explaining the ingredients of the flea/tick medications and assured me that everything was safe for Levi, regardless of what the "docs of the internet" say. He was very gentle with my dog, taking his time examining him and ensuring all of my questions were answered. I loved that my time at the office was not rushed, and I felt that Levi and I were Dr Whitaker's top priority for that hour. I can't put into words how happy I left the office. I highly suggest you take your beloved pets to see him for any concern or just for a yearly check up. The office was very clean and all staff was just as kind. Before leaving the office, Levi and I booked his first dental cleaning appointment. I'm so relieved that I found such an amazing doctor in my area! I can rest easy knowing that Dr Whitaker has my dog's best interest in mind. Please do yourself a favor, and favorite this business!

However, I am leaving a one star review due to serious concerns about the hospital's lack of transparency regarding billing and financial policies. During my first visit, I walked out with an unexpectedly high bill for what I believed was a routine checkup. I was never clearly informed that the lab work included both a blood test and a fecal test. I only completed the blood test at the time and later found out that the fecal test had also been included in the charges. When I brought my other cat in, another fecal test was required. At no point was I informed that I had 28 days to submit the sample. I was later told by Tiffany that I had received a phone call explaining this deadline. That is incorrect. The call I received was simply a follow up and did not mention any deadline. Now I am being told that the lab requires submission within 28 days, and as a result, they will not refund me even though I never received the service I paid for. If there is a strict deadline tied to a prepaid service, clients should be clearly informed. If the service is not rendered, the payment should be refunded. I PAID FOR A SERVICE THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE. Transparency and clear communication about costs and policies are essential in veterinary care, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

She was breathing but completely unresponsive, and we were terrified she wouldn't wake up. We explained exactly what had happened. The staff recommended an X-ray--which we agreed to, as we were concerned she might have broken her neck. However, they also insisted on pumping her stomach "just in case she got into something." We declined, knowing that wasn't the case. After the X-ray, they confirmed she hadn't broken any bones but noted that she was still in a lateral position and unable to stand. I asked if she was still breathing and if she was okay. They mentioned that after administering an IV, she moved slightly and wagged her tail--giving us hope since she hadn't moved at all when we brought her in. Then, they suggested additional blood work. I refused, believing that if her neck wasn't broken, she likely just needed rest. Instead, I asked to take her home. They insisted she needed to stay overnight for monitoring--at an additional cost we simply couldn't afford. When we asked to see her, nothing could have prepared us for what we saw. She was dead. She was hooked up to machines, her eyes lifeless and almost out of their sockets. I was devastated and furious. I turned to the vet and asked, "Do cats come back from this? Will she wake up?" His response? "The prognosis isn't good." I broke down, feeling completely taken advantage of--not just emotionally but financially. In the end, we were charged $1,000, only to lose her. If you want to be scammed and mistreated in your time of distress, this is the place to go. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau because what they are doing is unethical. Obviously they deserve 0 stars.
