I was quoted an exorbitant $1400 (with an additional $500 for bloodwork) for my dog's dental cleaning and potential tooth removal, but decided to trust their judgment. I dropped him off at 7:40 AM, as instructed the day of his procedure, and received no updates. When I called at noon, I was told other surgeries had delayed him, but was assured he'd be done by the end of the day. By almost 4 PM, I finally received a call--only to learn they had sedated my dog but wouldn't perform the procedure due to "other surgeries." I picked up my poor dog, who was scared, confused, heavily sedated, and UNTREATED. I am absolutely furious at the lack of communication and disregard for my dog's well-being. This clinic showed zero respect for my time, my trust, or my dog's needs. If you care about your pet and expect basic professionalism, look elsewhere. read more

My 15 yr old darling little doggie was in her final weeks and I was shocked to have my current vet refer me to another company for euthanasia. Since I had used VCA Peachtree before I moved away, I contacted them & they quickly took us in. I was amazed at how efficiently & respectfully I was treated throughout this painful process. Dr. Thorndyke handled my dog in a gentle & knowledgeable manner and explained things while putting me at ease. Apryl was assisting & she also made me comfortable & cared for my baby dog until she quickly passed. As a sweet gesture, they sent me a lovely handwritten sympathy card to help with my mourning. Review on what to do when something is wrong with your dog: Ok, so I am not a guru when it comes to pets. So when my dog started getting sick to her stomach, I freaked out! I called VCA since we brought her here in the past and they were so kind to talk me through some Q&A so we could figure out what it may be. When I told them I was still nervous, they offered for me to drop her off for a few hours and they would monitor here and see if anything was seriously wrong. As a mom, this was such an grateful move on VCA's part. So, Magnolia turned out to be fine. Dogs can eat canned pumpkin, however, fresh pumpkin not so much. After carving pumpkins for Halloween, the kids tossed the "guts" in the backyard and the dog gobbled them up. We have since learned our lesson. read more

Picked her up, she now had a nasty cold/sneezy, etc. Not sure what happened, but she's never been sick EVER. I have never encountered a more knowledgeable Veterinarian than Dr. Bateman. He is responsible and fully credited for saving the life of several animals I know. All were referred to him by me when their Veterinarian either diagnosed incorrectly or suggested treatments that were prohibitively costly AND FULLY UNNECESSARY! The most recent was a cat that was ready to be euthanized for CHF because the cat had "only a short time to Live". That was almost a year ago and 'Tarzan' is thriving! The office staff and animal assistants are the very best in Atlanta. Finally, every Veterinarian who Dr. Bateman has added are supetstars that are superior to most Veterinarian's twice their Age!! thanks to ALL @ P.A.H.!! Edited to add. The Above review, to my disgusted astonishment, was either flagged by a member (competing vet is all I can't think of) or tagged by yelp's BRILLIANT Algorithm designed 16 years, ago as spam solicited by the Animal Hospital. I have offered medical records to back my comments and pointed out that the practice has not even claimed the business as they are involved in saving animal's lives, not spamming yelp. the vet is a volunteer senior doc at AHS and is not deserving of the suggestive flagging of my review as it implies their involvement in smarminess. I don't give a s### about flagging me but it is reprehensible to suggest PAH involvement. I am a native Atlantan and my family has been taking our pets to Peachtree Animal Hospital for over 20 years. Our happy and healthy pets can thank PAH and Dr. Bateman for their long and comfortable lives! They are very kind people and truly love animals. When I was really young, our family dog was hit by a car. After he was transferred from the emergency animal hospital to Peachtree Animal Hospital, they treated him with the utmost care. They even allowed my mom to put a radio in our dog's cage so he felt at home. (We really love our pets.) He left PAH and remained an enriching part of our family for many years to follow. I now take my little dog to Peachtree Animal Hospital even though, living in near Midtown, it isn't terribly convenient for me. Literally the worst practice ever. They messed up their notes on my appointment so insurance wouldn't cover it. When I called to ask for notes to be corrected to the actual reasons they said the vet who saw us left and I need to wait for the 'medical director'. I was told I'd get a call within a day or two. No call for a week. Called today and they said 'we can't fix any notes' because the doctor is gone and they can't validate the information. They charged me about $1000 to never really address the issue, sounds like they charged for unnecessary tests that never got me an answer. Still trying to figure out what's wrong with my dog after all of that. My advice, find another practice, they're the worst. read more

My father was a client of this veterinarian for many years. He has since moved in with me and Kennesaw and we use a butt out here. When I called to talk to them about getting some information about canceling the pet insurance that they recommended my father obtained. They could not provide any contact information for the company that they recommended. When it was pointed out to them that it was not good customer service to not follow through, they basically told me too bad so sad. The veterinarians themselves may be good. However is support staff leaves something to be desired. The absolute lack of customer service they provided was astounding and quite disappointing. This location is TOP NOTCH! I've had pets my entire life and have NEVER experienced anything so wonderful as I did two nights ago with a vet. We realized our lab pup's inner ear was really red so I called and, even though it was 15 minutes before closing time, I was invited to bring him on in to be seen. This made the drive over remarkably unstressful and calm. Lilly and Sabrina welcomed us in with a smile and ideal professionalism , which helped make things even more calming. Out came Laura Holmes (the rock star manager!) and Travese (the sweetest vet assistant), who our pup went right up to for some hugs. Their excitement to see him and their reassurance that he was going to be okay right away was so comforting to us both. In came Dr Michelle Wolf to the exam room and that big smile and warm demeanor continued to ease any worry right away! She and Travese are such a great clinical duo. Their professionalism, expertise and bedside manner with me and my pup cannot be any better! I had so many questions and each one was given attentiveness and care. My pup loved being there, even in pain and discomfort because of the way they they specifically and profoundly care and how they handled everything . Dr Wolf reached out the next morning to check in and continued to be responsive, thoughtful and insightful. She's a really smart and special doctor, who brings out the positives and communicates in terms that are palpable/helpful short and long term. She really cares. She and Travese make the actual exam flow seamlessly and had a great respect for not just us but each other. Somehow this team of people made what could have been a scary and stressful situation, especially because it was closing time, enjoyable. They put me and my pup at ease from the very beginning , when I called in. This location is not the closest to where we live but it's worth the extra drive for every reason you can imagine mattering. The team's synergy is heartfelt, authentic and kind. So refreshing! Thank you to this incredible team for sharing their unique gifts and talents with us, as we put our trust in you. I love this vet clinic! They always answer my calls and update me with test results, etc. in a timely manner. We go to Dr. Wolf and she is fantastic. Oftentimes doctors use terminology that doesn't always resonate with everyone and Dr. Wolf does a great job explaining exactly what's wrong with my dog and necessary next steps. I chose VCA because of proximity from home but I am moving and will still go to this location because of Dr. Wolf and the great staff! read more

Do not come here! They are crooks with poor attitudes and even worse customer service. If it were possible to give them no stars I would. This has been the worst veterinary experience I had. Deception and condescension at its best. How you may ask? Well they talk you into purchasing a $600 total care plan. They charge $50.00 every month but give you 5 doctor visits, a teeth cleaning, all your pet vaccines, a microchip and more....great deal right???? Until you figure out how they make their money. They nickel and dime you along the way by calling you when your pet has been dropped off to urge you to get them additional tests or procedures at $400 or so. I can certainly understand how the lady who got quoted $140.00 for an animal exam left with a $700 bill for her cats. They definitely have a system and play you. This most recently happened with my dog getting his teeth cleaned after he already had a dental exam. Suddenly his total care plan was invalid and he needed to have 6 teeth removed at $400. When I called outraged the doctor on call told me "Hey Listen, your dog is asleep on the table, I'm just doing what I'm supposed to." First, this should have been caught earlier. Secondly I would never be a patron to a business who talks to people like that. After some words I asked to speak to the manager. When she called back she offered no solution or help of any kind. When I asked to cancel my membership and stop all future services she came back with a close out bill over two times the amount of the program. $1500.00 yeah right! So basically to have a bill less than $1000.00 I have to stay on their total care plan for a year. I guess we both lose in this situation. They have a customer who isn't happy and I'm locked into a deal that is a huge rip off. I guess we have to run the clock out together until October of 2016. At least I have the chance to save others from this awful experience should this review be posted. I'm certain there are more honest, genuine practices to love and care for your pet. ***As a closing note I picked up my baby from his tooth extraction and he had blood all over his face. I guess it would've been an additional fee for them to clean him up.**** ****One week later...his breath almost has me about to pass out. So much for a good tooth cleaning...10 months to go. **** ****I'm assuming after reading this, I was granted my wish. They called and refunded me two months of the care plan less the cost of enrollment and the teeth cleaning. I will now find my dog another vet. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that if I had the choice between saving someone's baby or eldery grandmother from a burning building, or one of my dachshunds, they'll tell you that my pups would win hands down. As soon as we got them I told my boyfriend that if there is somewhere they can't go with me, I'm not going. Now that you understand how finicky I am about my babies... We initially found this vet because they were a little less than a mile from where we used to live. I looked on their website and saw that Dr. Ford has a miniature dachshund herself and I was sold. We went to our first visit and I've never considered another vet since. Everyone from the front desk staff to the other vets I've had to see from time to time to the assistants they have are fantastic! You've got to give these people props when they're getting bitten, scratched, and pooped on all day and they can still be friendly. Never had a problem getting an appointment, never had to wait more than 10 minutes when I arrive. Regardless of where I live in Atlanta, I'll continue bringing my pets here. read more

They care! They really really care. So much, in fact, that it must physically hurt them. If they cared more, it might be a fatal condition. They surely couldn't care more and do anything but cry constantly over the fact that all animals aren't constantly shining with rainbows of joy. They are also very knowledgeable. They will analyze the hell out of your cat or dog all the while loving and cooing to it and petting it while they take its anal temperature. If your cat has a kidney stone, or super vaginitis or whatever, they will find it and they can probably fix it. Usually with prednisone, which apparently is a magical panacea that fixes every problem a cat could have that hasn't been caused by a dog or a car (and maybe some of those). However, there's a price for all this love and knowledge... Not only CAN they find problems and CAN they fix them. But they will want to fix ALL of them. "Well sir, your cat (like all cats) has extensive dental issues and seemingly a heart arrhythmia. We should do an X-ray and a CT scan and put him on IV fluids and watch him overnight and wrap him in a warm blanket and cheer him up with some catnip and a tiny hat." "My cat is really old. I'll just take the prednisone please." read more

We love Dr. Ford at Peachtree Animal Hospital. We were patients of Dr. Bateman long before he closed his practice and it became VCA. Dr. Ford has stepped into his shoes wonderfully, continuing to provide our dogs with terrific care. I love that my dogs are recognized as soon as they walk through the door. Its obvious that everyone that works here cares about my dogs and their well-being, which is a terrific feeling. I find that its super easy to make an appointment and that things typically run right on time (i.e. if your appointment is at 4:00, you're seen at 4:00 or 4:05, not 30 minutes later). Although I do wish prices were a bit lower, I find that the quality of care and service is worth every penny for my dogs to be seen by Dr. Ford and her amazing staff. Our family has been using Peachtree Animal Hospital for the last 10 years, except one time and that turned out to be a terrible decision! Dr. Ford has always been so kind and compassionate to our dogs and we always try to see her. We have had to see other vets on occasion and they have also been kind and caring. The vets here are great! Dr. Ford is the best! Having said that, there are two "cons." The first is the wait time. With an appointment I almost always have to wait 30-45 minutes beyond my appointment time to get into an exam room. That is too long to wait when I have an appointment! The second is the cost. Their prices do seen to be a bit high and their exam costs have gone up at least 20-25%, maybe more since we started. If it's just a vaccination visit that is needed I would find a low cost clinic for the shots and you could save a ton of money. We drive 30 minutes (if there's no traffic)to come to the clinic because we believe in the vets' capabilities but the wait time is going to make us consider a vet closer to us. We spend a whole afternoon for a visit by the time you get there and leave. read more

Went here to get a flu shot for my dog, since it was required for boarding. They didn't give the flu shot, but gave my dog antibiotics because she supposedly had a cough (although she had not coughed at all recently, prior to visiting). The antibiotics cost money of course. My dog was supposed to take the antibiotics twice a day with a meal, well... the antibiotics must have upset her stomach because she didn't eat at all after taking them. I tried again a couple days later, and they messed up her appetite again. After calling the vet multiple times, To explain to them what happened.. I finally just got off the phone with her, and all she says (Dr.Patrick is her name) is.."is she coughing now?" And I'm like no, but she wasn't coughing before.. then she says "well good" i asked is there a way to return the medicine and she says it's state law that they can't.. but I really just spent money for no reason, and it's very upsetting. We were only able to use two pills, and if anything they harmed my dog. I'm very upset, and I don't recommend this place, they're money hungry. Oh, and to add to this.. as I stated I originally went to get the flu shot so my dog could go to boarding while I went on vacation. She wasn't able to go to boarding, and at the last minute we had to find someone to care for her..AND this place tried to get me to Board my dog there.. they flat out told me she'd be in a cage all day, only to come out for release. Their explanation was "she's sick anyway" BUT she wasn't even sick, as we can see. They just try to get as much from you as they can. I don't plan on returning. Lastly, the lady at the front desk did not acknowledge me at all. As I was leaving, and waiting to pay, she sat there and kept doing what she was doing as I was standing in front of her. No "just a moment I'll be with you" or anything, the guy had to come over and help me. Smh terrible. read more

I've been taking my dog, Johnny, to the Peachtree Animal Hospital since I adopted him in 2008. We're moving across town, and we'll sadly be looking for a new vet, so I thought it would be a great time to drop a review on the place that's taken care of my crazy pup for the last 6 years. Originally, I wasn't a huge fan. I found out the night that I adopted Johnny that he was suffering from Giardia. I had to find a vet quickly, and I had heard good things about Dr. Ford. Unfortunately, she was not available to see him on such short notice, and we were treated by another vet, who is no longer with the practice. We saw this vet exclusively for about 2-3 years, and I never once felt like he cared about my dog, or my own concerns. He regularly tried to upsell me on "pill pockets" and other non-essential things, and he was always quick to recommend over-treatment. ex. Johnny ripped out a dew claw, and while I told this vet repeatedly that it was a clean rip (literally nothing was left in the wound), he told me - without even examining the paw - that my dog would need an expensive surgery to have the remaining parts of the nail removed. I eventually told the women at the Front Desk that I'd like to start seeing a different vet, and they were very friendly about it. I thought it would be awkward, but they made me feel like my concerns were valid. So we started seeing Dr. Unger, and she was fantastic. Johnny is a wee bit hyper, and she just had this very calming affect on him for the most part. He nipped at her once when she was clipping his nails, and while that means he needs to wear a muzzle when he's being groomed now, she agreed that was very out of character for him, and almost seemed apologetic about the whole thing. Dr. Unger moved away, so Johnny has started seeing Dr. Ford. Johnny has been pretty healthy recently, so I've started taking him in for checkups and grooming together, and generally don't sit with him during his exam. Dr. Ford has called me after his appointments to give me a rundown on his health when necessary. I've loved knowing he's in great hands, and it ends up being a good visit for my dog, and really convenient for me. I can't say enough good things about the Front Desk or the Vet Techs either. Such great, professional folks. Look, if we're being honest here folks, my dog is a handful. He's 70 lbs of jumping, wiggling excitement, but they always seem really happy to see him and call him by name. The one con I'd give this place is sometimes it can be a little disorganized. One exam, they entered Johnny's weight as 80 lbs, or something like that, and the next time we came in he was 70. I hadn't changed his diet, and the vet didn't seem concerned that he was too thin, so we chalked it up to human error on the chart. And then the last time Johnny stayed we were overcharged for an exam and boarding. It was a really obvious mistake, and the woman at the Front Desk was quick to fix it, but it was a mistake that took a few days to correct on my credit card. Neither flub ended up having a terrible affect on my dog's treatment or my bank account, but I'm putting it here for full disclosure. As far as pricing goes, I feel like they are pretty competitive. I don't generally feel like I'm being taken advantage of or anything like that. Overall I'll be very, very sad to leave this place when we move. read more

My poor dog has been sick again with digestive issues. I really wish my neighbors would pick up after their pets because this problem most likely stems from my dog stepping in old, decomposing poop then licking himself! Anyway, my dog started having symptoms on Tuesday that lessened during the week but returned with a vengeance this morning. I didn't even bother calling any other vet. I called Peachtree Animal right away. They were booked all day but the receptionist talked to the vet and Dr. Valentino was nice enough to work us into the schedule. I arrived and only waited a few minutes but the vet tech still apologized for making me wait. The vet tech was very thorough in asking about my dog's condition which I appreciated. It really seemed like she cared which I appreciate. We didn't have to wait long for the vet to come in and she went over all the potential causes for the symptoms and treatment options. They recommended blood work and xrays but due to the expense of this, we opted to try treating with a dewormer and antibiotics first. The bill was still quite hefty despite passing on the additional tests. I agree with the other reviewer that prices have gone up since they became a VCA clinic. Today it was worth it for me however I'm not sure if it would be worth it for a well pet exam and vaccinations. Needless to say I'm grateful for Peachtree Animal Hospital. They take good care of the animals and really seemed concerned about your pets well being. read more

Every experience with their staff and doctors has been amazing and they treat our 2 fur babies like family! They know them by name, the pups are not hesitant to leave us to go with them! Well, all these other reviews are great but my own experience hasn't been that positive. I have spent a fortune here with few results. Item 1 (this is maybe three years ago): Cat kept vomiting. Like at least once a day. And always on the orientals, never on the hardwood. Spent $800 with various tests. Dr. Ford concluded......that she could not conclude anything. Basically, I got a "Beats me." Then, this week, I took the cat in for his annual rabies shot and whatever. He had fleas. So he got a flea shot as well and I was sent home with over $100 worth of Revolution treatments. Gave to cat. Cat became incredibly lethargic--for six solid days. (Total bill--nearly $300) Went back. Despite reports of lethargy in cats after Revolution treatment, I was told this never happens and talked in to another $215 worth of treatments and tests--which seem to have made no difference. So I think I'm looking for another vet pronto. read more

What do you do with a broken tail?? I just knew my little pup was not happy but the only thing I could tell was that there was something wrong with her tail - it just hung there. She couldn't wag it, and for a dog who came from a rescue 16 months before and took 6 months to finally wag her tail, that wagging tail was a source of pride for me. I called VCA (the place the Humane Society sent me after I adopted my little one) and explained my problem. Though they were booked, they found time to squeeze me in that morning. Dr. Boyd carefully inspected my little dog and assured me that her tail was NOT broken, but in fact she had "limber tail," a condition that often looks like it's broken. She sent me home with some anti-inflammatories and enough reassurance that it wasn't broken, despite my pleas of "are you sure??" Sure enough, not two days later, my dog was jumping on my bed at 5:30am, ready for our morning walk. Tonight we went for a walk and her spirits are back to normal, and her tail is wagging again. But two days earlier, with panic and fear, I had rushed her to the hospital fearing the worst (would they have to amputate??) and bracing myself for hundreds of dollars in bills (x-rays, anesthesia, etc.). Dr. Boyd, who I found out later is an emergency vet, used her knowledge, skills, and experience to correctly diagnose my little dog's problem, withOUT the exorbitant expense (or unnecessary tests). I began using Peachtree Animal Hospital when I moved to Atlanta about two years ago. They hadn't merged with VCA at that time. Their prices seem to have gone up since they joined VCA, but the care my two dogs receive is still fantastic. Even when I admit to the staff I've done something stupid (like forgetting to give heartworm medication for several months), they don't lecture me or make me feel any worse than I already do. They're nice like that! The staff seems to really like animals because they let my one dog that is a licker lick them in the face and hands. The staff also gives my babies treats after each visit, which the dogs love! read more

Dr. Ford has been taking care of our 3 Basset Hounds for 10 years. If you have Basset's, she is the Vet you need to go to... Her Father raised Basset's and she knows the breed. One of our Hounds has been under her special care with Kidney Disease for almost a year now. Dr. Ford has gone all out with the care plan for this Hound. She is caring and compassionate. I am at Peachtree Animal Hospital at least once a week to pick up Meds for my special needs Hound. The staff is pleasant and accommodating. If there is one down side, it is the cost of animal care. I think this is due to they are owned by the VCA. For that reason, we go to another Vet for vaccines and minor medical issues i.e. ear infections, but the serious medical concerns are seen by Dr. Ford. We are extremely happy with Dr. Ford and her vast knowledge of Basset Hounds. read more

I want to give this a better review, but alas... Dr. Boyd is fantastic! She takes great care of my pets, answers all of my questions and has helped me make educated decisions about the care of my pets. Same goes for the techs, they're friendly and are very sweet to me and my animals. The office staff is lacking, unfortunately. Twice they have told me the wrong time of appointments and on several other occasions have made scheduling mistakes that could have been avoided. The clinic offers great vet care but lacks in front office staff. read more
