Typical long stay motel/hotel type guests loitering around outside. I'd say it's a fine place for the price relative to other options in the area. Just be vigilant and probably don't leave anything in your car. That's more related to town as a whole and not just the block where this motel is located.

Our bartender was great she was friendly had some great conversations with us and made the visit there that much better. We learned a lot about the area and found out she was originally not to far from where we are from. They have a great selection of beers and drinks, oysters and even have veggie dogs for the vegetarians out there. If you're in the area check this place out it's cozy and made for you to stay a while. Definitely want to come back up here and visit again.

You get an table with 2 chairs and a desk/desk chair. The location was perfect as it's just about an 9mins drive to the sequoia zoo skywalk and the dunes. Nearby there's also In N Out, drive thru fast food restaurants, plenty of stores and gas stations. There's an ice machine and vending machines on each floor. Dogs are welcome for a fee, $30. The hot tub and pool area is gorgeous. Provided a very nice ambiance during the day and night. Parking free and complimentary breakfast was decently basic.

This site was a good fit. We had to park the Jeep away from our site because there wasn't any room for it. The park and people working here were good. The grounds around the RV park were in poor condition. The grass between the sites were very long. No edging either. The WiFi was good and the place was clean otherwise. The big problem was the street access coming into and exiting the RV Park was terrible! Pit holes so large you would of thought land mines had gone off. This is unacceptable!!! Going in and out each day was a major chore. Kind wouldn't stay here again unless the road is fixed. Oh heck no!!!!!

Nice decor if extremely impractical! I've yet to see a human body that could comfortably fit into…read morethat chair... but then, the chair is not for sitting. All of the chairs in the dining room sink so low, you can just rest your chin on the table and shovel it in. What I found most problematic with this hotel is the lip service to ADA accommodations. There are no grab bars in the bathroom, not even soap dishes you could cling too if you slipped on the very slippery tub floor. The lighting and the switches to the lighting are incredible dim in the room making impossible to see with black on black backgrounds. For low visibility people, the randomly placed 'mood' lighting keeps people like me in the dark. Finally, for people with physical disabilities, getting one's luggage on a cart, then to an elevator, then into a room with extremely heavy doors that swing back so quickly, an injury is almost guaranteed. Unfortunately, I experienced all of this at Holiday Inn express in Eureka. I mentioned some of my difficulties to the registration desk, staff, and as nice as they were, they didn't care... they say they'll remodel next year, but if they really cared about providing accommodations for Americans with disabilities, they make the changes now.

The beds seemed to be firm and the pillows were comfortable. My husband and I had a good night sleep. They offer hard and soft pillows and they are labeled as such on the pillowcases. Never seen that at a hotel before. Room came with a microwave & fridge which was nice to keep our snacks and water cool for the next days journey. Breakfast was complimentary, lots to offer. Eggs, turkey & pork sausage pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice and more that I don't remember. The offer onsite laundry room, a pool and jacuzzi and a workout gym. We didn't have a chance to use these but they were available. The parking lot has a brick half wall with a metal fence around the building. We felt safe where we parked, we checked often and never saw anyone snooping around. You will need a room key to get into the side entrance of building. When we come back to Eureka we will definitely book Holiday inn Express again. We felt very comfortable here and the hotel was centrally located torestaurants stores and gas stations.

The office was closed by 5 PM (which if you are a place for travelers, especially during summer months, maybe consider staying open until 7 PM? ) We were fortunate to catch a very friendly and helpful front office person on her way out. The tent site we were assigned had a flooded waterhose basin, and we wanted to move one site over, to which she graciously told us how to do that, and so we did. The bathrooms could definitely use regular attention. They are absolutely cleaner than most gas station bathrooms, so they're not terrible, and you can see that there isn't a consistent cleaning crew to qualify for five out of five stars consistently. Even though this location is coastal, a lot of the grass in the area is dead and yellow. Again, not a bad thing, but visually, does not give you a "attended to/curated landscape importance" experience. Shower was with hot water, functional shower stalls, and clean countertops to put your toiletries on once getting out. So again, if you have good camping tolerance, this absolutely works. But if you are a needy or judgey "Glamper" you will probably find something wrong with this location. Last part about safety, 2 sites over from us was a single woman traveling the coast who was very friendly and occurred as feeling safe enough to stay in this campground on her own. Enjoy the redwoods easily from this location. We went to the groves and back with no problems with our site, and brought food back from the Thai restaurant in town. The whole campground had a very unsettling "people live here and know things you shouldn't ask about" energy. As a woman traveling with a teenage daughter, it definitely did not feel like the family camping atmosphere we expected. Also, genuine question: why do only the women's restrooms have locks on them? That does not exactly increase confidence. It raises several other questions instead. At one point I half expected someone to emerge from the trees and warn us not to go near "the old laundry shed after dark." We are not fancy campers and totally understand rustic. Rustic is charming. This was more "backwoods horror movie side setting" energy. If the website had shown the actual condition of the property, we absolutely would have booked somewhere else. Honestly, if Scooby-Doo and the gang had pulled up in the Mystery Machine, nobody would have questioned it. The only thing missing was a banjo soundtrack and a handwritten sign saying "YOU TURNED AROUND TOO LATE."

It is an older motel, but it's in a great location, close to anywhere in town, and very close to old town Eureka. For what I got for the price, I was very happy. You check in via a remote screen in the lobby, it's still very efficient, and the people on the other end of the screen are very friendly and helpful. As I mentioned, it was an older room, and there were a few chips and Nicks here and there, but that was just cosmetic. There is a desk to eat or work on, plugs to charge my gear, a TV with a good picture, the bathroom was spotless, it had a shower instead of a tub. The shower did not have a grab bar or a shower mat, so you do need to be careful. The bed was very comfortable, and I had a very good nights sleep. The Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream video. The room also had a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee pot. What was especially nice was, I had to leave the hotel after only two nights, because I needed to stay with a sick family member at home. I called Chase who called the hotel, and the hotel agreed to let me cancel after two nights, and they refunded the remaining two nights back to my account. They were very understanding.
