This is a beautiful property. Nicely decorated. Sean at the front desk was particularly helpful in recommending local eateries. He added yet another mark of consistency in thanking me for my membership. The IHG brand is amazingly rigorous in this aspect. In heading to my room on the 2nd floor, I rode the elevator with Chris, who was taking care of maintenance issues. He was extraordinarily engaging by welcoming me, wishing me a good stay, and offering his and Sean's assistance with any needs. The room was updated, clean and perfectly provisioned with soap, lotions, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, as well as a Keurig, supplied with coffee, tea and sweetener options. I ran late and could not take the time to enjoy breakfast, but the coffee machines made a delicious cup and I very much appreciated the insulated carafe of cream. read more

Great location and easy to find. Friendly staff and they tell you about all the amenities as you are checking in. Rooms are a good size, we reserved a 2 queen room top floor. You have to put your key in this little slot by the inside of the door to keep the lights on. Once you leave and remove it the light go off to help save electricity great idea, At least I couldn't forget where I put my room key haha. The beds seemed to be firm and the pillows were comfortable. My husband and I had a good night sleep. They offer hard and soft pillows and they are labeled as such on the pillowcases. Never seen that at a hotel before. Room came with a microwave & fridge which was nice to keep our snacks and water cool for the next days journey. Breakfast was complimentary, lots to offer. Eggs, turkey & pork sausage pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice and more that I don't remember. The offer onsite laundry room, a pool and jacuzzi and a workout gym. We didn't have a chance to use these but they were available. The parking lot has a brick half wall with a metal fence around the building. We felt safe where we parked, we checked often and never saw anyone snooping around. You will need a room key to get into the side entrance of building. When we come back to Eureka we will definitely book Holiday inn Express again. We felt very comfortable here and the hotel was centrally located torestaurants stores and gas stations. read more

The room is more spacious than other locations. Bed is cleaned and comfortable. They use Dove for toiletries. The staff are nice and friendly. Breakfast is a typical American breakfast. They have a lot of empty wall space that would good if they install hooks for coats, pants or towels. Also wish they have either bigger desk or another desk to put coffee maker instead have it on bathroom counter. read more

My experience with Holiday Inn Eureka was great! Located next to "Costco" and "Eureka Natural Foods" (which is like a Whole Foods) and only a 15 min walk to the very cute Downtown area. One of the things I look for when booking a hotel is the parking situation (since I'm horrible at backing-up, parking in tight spaces, etc) but this location did not disappoint me, there are plenty parking spaces available and it's an easy in and out. Our check-in was quick and efficient. Front desk staff is very friendly. The lobby is modern and chic. They have plenty of tables, couches and chairs that create a comfortable and cozy atmosphere for people-watching, play card games, dining, etc. Did I mention they have fresh coffee 24/7...yes please! Our room was spacious, clean and most importantly; the bed was super comfy. The indoor pool was a plus for families traveling with children, it looked nice and warm (I did not use it) but other guests seem to be having a blast. The breakfast bar is your typical Continental Breakfast, it was nice, fresh and tasty. I definitely recommend this Hotel while visiting Eureka. Enjoy your stay! read more

At first glance the hotel looks decent, like your typical Holiday Inn. We've been to a lot during our cross country road trip and this location is very disappointing. 1) The bathroom floor had semi dried up urine in-front of the toilet. I actually grabbed a towel soaked it w some water and hand soap and cleaned the floor myself. 2) The towels had a strange amount of long black hairs stuck to them, ALL the towels in the bathroom! I noticed this when I opened towel after towel to clean the floor. Do I wanna shower here? 3) sheets had some sticky stains, too flat sheet, bottom fitted and one of the pillows. 4) one nightstand was covered w crumbs, the other looked like someone had tried wiping it w a dirty dish rag. 5) the tile flooring in the kitchenette area was sticky and you could see droplets of something- not clean 6) all the furniture is stained. Every. Single. Piece of furniture. 7) doorframes are crusted with smudges of something. 8) we moved the lil dining table off the wall so we could eat dinner and watch tv at the same time, only to find dirt and kibble (?) under the table against the wall. I have nothing against pooches staying at hotels, but the room needs to be cleaned after EACH GUEST FFS!!! Cute "looking" rooms, and I guess it all depends on who is managing the venue. This one was disappointing. I did complain to the front desk and Chris came up w a clean set of sheets, 1 fresh towel, mop n bucket, and the kid took care of some of the mess. He was very polite and very understanding about the whole ordeal and did his best to make things right - ea and every star on this review goes out to Chris alone! Their complimentary breakfast tasted like... its a free meal... that's all I'm gonna say about that. One thing we noticed while eating, we had full view of the front desk and the dining area was bustling, with that in mind.... The two people working the front desk, not once looked up to greet or acknowledge ANY of the guests walking by, not a smile, not a peep - the girl was on her phone & the older gentleman kept shuffling papers ignoring the world. Hard worker. Daily housekeeping, they missed a day, but when called to service, they did it right away. Price - $260 a night, so approximately $780; expensive, but you get what you pay for out here. We stayed here during the 4th of July weekend this year. Our first time in the county of Humboldt. The drive when we entered Eureka wasn't promising as sketchy characters were out and about that afternoon. The hotel was otherwise a nice respite from our 100 degree 5 hour travel. I felt that it was an obligation to rest in our comfortable room once we got settled. After being checked in by the pleasant staff, we proceeded to our ground floor room and I power napped. As soon as I was done recharging, I grabbed a tea and a coffee for my wife from the lobby area. This establishment was as expected while we were booking it a month before. Clean & comfortable with nice aesthetics. We saw people use the warm pool but we never jumped in. Complimentary breakfast during our three night stay was pretty much the same everyday. We tried Holiday Inn's Signature cinnamon roll once and that was it. Standard continental fare was served hot with scrambled eggs, sausages (pork and turkey), muffins and sausage gravy in chafing dishes. The gravy and a Cholula packet made for a tolerable breakfast. They also served yogurt and eggs in a fridge with the milk. Oatmeal came in packets. The pancakes were cooked through a QuickCakes machine that spat out hotcakes within a minute. The coffee served during breakfast wasn't as flavorful & brisk as we preferred. It is close to a Costco and that was nice for quick and cheap snacks via the food court. read more

Walls aren't sound proof so you can hear everything and everyone Pool hours are strange and it's always busy Ice maker is difficult to find Most of the cons were only small inconveniences but they added up. This place was pretty much everything I wanted in a hotel. I really just needed a place to crash with the family. We were here for a quick holiday. The room was clean. They had a nice little breakfast too, which was great. The price was decent and the staff was nice. Parking felt safe. Indoor pool was really cool. Nice decor if extremely impractical! I've yet to see a human body that could comfortably fit into that chair... but then, the chair is not for sitting. All of the chairs in the dining room sink so low, you can just rest your chin on the table and shovel it in. What I found most problematic with this hotel is the lip service to ADA accommodations. There are no grab bars in the bathroom, not even soap dishes you could cling too if you slipped on the very slippery tub floor. The lighting and the switches to the lighting are incredible dim in the room making impossible to see with black on black backgrounds. For low visibility people, the randomly placed 'mood' lighting keeps people like me in the dark. Finally, for people with physical disabilities, getting one's luggage on a cart, then to an elevator, then into a room with extremely heavy doors that swing back so quickly, an injury is almost guaranteed. Unfortunately, I experienced all of this at Holiday Inn express in Eureka. I mentioned some of my difficulties to the registration desk, staff, and as nice as they were, they didn't care... they say they'll remodel next year, but if they really cared about providing accommodations for Americans with disabilities, they make the changes now. read more

My family and I stayed here for 5 nights in late July 2025 to vacation in the area. Right off the bat, we were impressed about everything with this hotel. It feels more like a full service facility than an "express". The pros: - The lobby is gorgeous. - Breakfast is very good, with options that rotate (fresh bacon!) - Staff, from the front desk to cleaning crew, were incredibly friendly. - Room is spotless, large, and well appointed. - Beds are comfortable. - Pool area is very well maintained and the pool isn't freezing cold. - It's nice and quiet with thick walls. Our daughter tends to be loud, but I couldn't hear her from the hallway. The cons: - Nothing, though I do wish they had a bar in that fantastic lobby. I stay here almost every month for work. Rooms are clean and well maintained and the staff are helpful. Breakfast is what you can expect when included. Scrambled eggs, some sort of sausage etc. It's not incredible but they have a nice selection of options and gets your day started. I'll be honest the coffee for me is not good. I prefer the one I can brew in the room myself. It's the best hotel Eureka has to offer. My other slight pet peeve and it's silly is that they only have one entrance/exit from the parking lot. My husband and I are on a road-trip to Oregon. It's a super long drive from our home in Long Beach, CA and we needed to get a room for the night in Eureka. My husband wanted to get an inexpensive hotel but a lot of the inexpensive hotels has a lot of bad reviews. So I decided to get a room here instead because the majority of the reviews were good! Here's my take of this place. Check-in: It was super quick and easy. Staff were really nice and pleasant. The room: I got a Suite with 1 king bed and sofa bed and it is a big and comfortable room!! It is super clean and tidy! Everything was exceptional!! Look at the pictures I took! It's amazing! I'm so happy we came here!! Conclusion: My husband and I loved it here! We're going to enjoy our sleep. I haven't checked out the pool or gym but I will update my review tomorrow. In the meantime I'm going to get some much needed beddy bye!! Good night! ***Update (next day)*** My husband and I had a restful sleep. We went downstairs for breakfast and they had hot foods like biscuits and gravy. Stayed at this location for 4 nights. Overall, average amongst budget friendly hotels. Room was decent. It had stains on the couch, carpet, and bed skirt. Bathroom had a weird smell to it. Free continental breakfast was lower than average. But then again it was free. Same breakfast items everyday. The typical bagels, pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, pastries, cereal, burnt biscuits and gravy, and yogurt. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had never visited Eureka and decided to spend a week there. We day tripped each day and wanted to nice place to return to each evening. We thoroughly looked at all accommodations online and decided on the Holiday Inn Express. Our room was clean and comfortable, the pool was warm and very uncrowded 90% of the time we were there. The free breakfasts were excellent, although they could have changed it up a bit. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. If there was a better (or safer) place to stay in Eureka we must have missed it. We highly recommend staying here whether it be just a night for a full week. read more

This hotel has been remodeled and it has a modern feel to it, which is nice. I stayed here for two nights while visiting the area and was very pleased with my experience. I got an email that the room was ready before well before the check-in time, which was also really nice. Check-in was incredibly smooth and everyone was really friendly and nice. Holiday Inn Express and Suites is located right off of Highway 101. It is also next to Costco. If you are in the area and have a Costco card, this is a great place to get gas. There are some good restaurants within a short driving distance from the hotel. They have brochures of what you can do in the area when you come in and a picture of the Sky Walk that recently opened in the area. The bed and pillows were comfy and I got a great night sleep. The rooms are spacious and clean. They have full size items in the shower, which I loved the scent of. I always prefer this to the small plastic bottles because it's more eco-friendly. They have breakfast in the morning with lots of options such as bagels and cream cheese, eggs, sausage patties, yogurt, cereal, muffins, fruit, etc. My favorite was the cinnamin rolls. If you are headed to Humboldt, Eureka or Arcata this is probably the best hotel in the area. Clean, private parking and nice amenities. The hotel is just starting back up with full breakfasts now and the hotel has a little snack shop next to the check in desk that has all sorts of snacks and microwave meals. There are a few diners and sandwich shops close by along with Eureka Market which is just a block or two away. In and Out , Blaze Pizza and Chipotle is down the road about 1/4 mile or so. read more

Nicest hotel in town.. now that's not saying much for eureka but if I have to stay here this is the only place I'll stay. I hate that during peak season I'm paying almost 400 for a holiday inn express. Granted it's the "suite". The location and hotel itself is pretty good. The room I happen to get was spacious and very clean. The 3 stars is for the bed. I might as well sleep on a pile of rocks. This bed is worse than what Jesus slept on himself. Was in Eureka with my wife to visit our son. Decided to give the Holiday Inn Express a shot. The hotel itself is brand spanking new, and modern design. The waterfall in the lobby is really cool. We had a HUGE suite with a BIG spa tub (that we sadly didn't use), separate living room, 2 TVs, microwave, sink, refrigerator, and cool wall-mounted faux fireplace. Everything was good EXCEPT we could hear people loudly walking around in the room above us VERY early in the morning. Wish they would have invested a bit more $$$ in pouring thicker concrete floors. Great location and friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of parking. read more

My son and I stayed at this Holiday Inn a few months ago. I felt the price was a bit much compared to other motels in the area, we were tired and this is where we stayed. The good news for families there was a pool and work out room. You are a block away from Costco if your into shopping. There was one Restaurant I seen within walking distance. Bad news my bed felt like I was sleeping on a board. Didn't sleep much woke up with a back ache. I was excited breakfast was included with our stay I went downstairs around 8:30 there was nothing there, a few apples and yogurt. There was no hostess to be found. No one to refill anything. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express over Thanksgiving. The room was spacious and clean. The bed very comfortable. We were so pleased the room was exceptionally quiet. The free breakfast offered both hot and cold dishes. It was good. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars rather than higher is that when we returned to our room, it wasn't made up. When I called to the front desk asking why it hadn't been cleaned, the woman said you had to ask for it to be cleaned at checkin. I was bewildered b/c how would I know this? She said they should have told us on checkin - which didn't happen. There were no other signs anywhere stating this in the room or at checkin. I think this is a rather poor customer service practice. It doesn't sit well with me and, unfortunately, leaves a bad overall impression. read more

Not only was the room perfect for us with our three kiddos by having two queen beds AND full pull out couch, but the customer service was beyond wonderful! The staff were always very accommodating from giving directions, putting us near the pool since we had kiddos that wanted to swim, band-aids, and helping us do late check out so we could go fishing and wait to pack. haha The pool wasn't heated, but it was fine after a few minutes in. The spa was nice and toasty though. The breakfast there was exceptional. Alarms going off outside all night. One mattress was hard and crunchy. The other was okay. Pillows absolutely flat. Decor throughout is nauseating. It's 2am and we're on the 2nd alarm outside of the night. I know that's not the hotels fault, but it doesn't make for a very restful stay. Room is clean. Probably the best place you can stay if you are going to stay within Eureka. The queen suite was nice but there are a few nitpicks. There is a fence around the property and only one way in and out. I did see a car with a broken window in the parking lot but just missed getting to ask the owner where it happened. Don't leave valuables anywhere in sight inside your vehicle. Some of the furniture is uncomfortable. Our king-sized mattress sagged and creaked but other than that I slept well. If you are in a room with wood floors and you are not on the top floor chances are the room above you has wood floors and can get noisy. We stayed at a holiday inn express in Yreka before coming here. Checkin was amazingly smooth but here they made me go through the full checklist of putting my initials everywhere and temporarily charging a chunk on my card as a hold for possible extras. Avoid the 2 diners next door. They aren't horrible but they are mediocre. I recommend a place called Hole in the Wall just a few blocks away. read more

This Inn is clean, comfortable and very well run. I wish I could stay here again, but the cancellation policy of IHG Hotels and Resorts makes that impossible. In a city such as Eureka, many comings and goings are subject to weather conditions. It may be fog that has the Arcata airport socked in, or the closure of the highways. The powerlessness of the management of the Eureka Holiday Inn to make decisions concerning the cancellation policy, is very unfortunate. The caring and considerate staff are unable to help in any way, thus making us all victims of IHG's unyielding rules. I paid for a room that was never occupied because I missed my window for cancellation due to the dense fog at Arcata Airport. IHG Hotels and Resorts made sure I learned my lesson. Came up to visit the hubs while he's working. Beautiful drive all the way up especially on the 101. The hotel is right off the freeway next to Costco it has really nice decor in the check in area next to the morning breakfast dining room. Very cool waterfall with a nice ambience at night. The rooms are modern and comfy the breakfast is actually pretty good and the place is really clean. The kids loved the pool area and they have a jacuzzi to enjoy as well. I would've given it 5 stars but the receptionist area isn't to friendly. They didn't greet me or my family at all or even ask if we needed help with anything. They're not to sociable which I think is a must if your working with people all day. I would stay again if the opportunity came up. read more

Do not stay at this hotel. As I walked into the lobby the lights were dim and dark which were the first red flags. I "stayed" in room 232. As I entered the room the lights were extremely dim like the lobby. I turned on all the lights and began inspecting the beds. I found multiple strains of hair on both beds- and light stains on the sheets. I ended up getting bitten by a bed bug while I was awake. Long story short I ended up spending the entire night in the bathroom waiting for the sun to come up so I could get on the road. Drove home 6 hours with no sleep. Room was nice, but the price went up every day for the 3 days we stayed, and so did the daily City Bed Tax, the Humboldt Tourism Tax, and the Visit California Tourism Assessment. I was charged $63.95 "Incidentals" fee which I was told would be refunded upon check out if we didn't damage the room. It wasn't. Next day and it still isn't refunded. Why was I charged that when they already had my Visa which they could have charged for damages. Thinking about it, got to be a hotel scam. 200 rooms, a hundred hotels, they could collect about $250,000 a day interest on this scam. Also I'm a disabled Viet Nam Vet, was in a handicapped room, and it wasn't available when I wanted to extend my stay. I'm betting the people who go the room weren't handicapped. Highly recommend this place if you're planning a trip to Eureka. Very clean facility and staff is so nice and accommodating. They even sent a text to notify me that my room was ready before the official check in time. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate. Breakfast was filling. I didn't get to check out the pool since I came here for work and just needed a place to stay. Parking your car was safe in their fenced parking. I would definitely stay here again. read more
