After going round and round with another company, having problems with communication and reliability, I finally wised-up and called North County Plumbing. They responded immediately (at 4:30pm) and came out the next morning. Paul and Jim were available for all our questions, were thorough in their explanations, priced reasonably, and have gone above and beyond to accommodate our very needy property in a timely manner. Dre (one of their plumbers) has also been great to work with as we've battle some head-scratching plumbing problems. I don't wish plumbing problems on anyone, but if you do have the need, do yourself a favor and call these guys FIRST! You won't be disappointed. read more

Dre provided me with a thorough explanation and a ballpark quote--all for no charge. I made an appointment and Dre arrived right on time. Dre did an excellent job and the charge matched his original quote. He cleaned everything up as well. He also confirmed all the work is guaranteed. Called them once, at the recommendation of a male neighbor, they unclogged a drain. Had to call them back 3 months later for the same problem. This time they unclogged the drain and told me I had a leak under the house, that was probably causing the clog.... Had that checked by someone else, no leak. Recently, I had a rain drainage problem. I called H&H Plumbing ( I recommend them), they came out, told me the problem, didn't charge me. But, my male neighbor practically insisted I call out North County, so I did, against my better judgement, and they made the same assessment. Then they asked me if I wanted them to use the camera. I said sure, why not, whatever it takes. So, knowing the clog is about 3 feet from the drain opening, they put the camera down there and showed me what we already knew, it was packed with mud. They charged me $300 to use that camera. Plus the service charge of $140. After this, I mentioned them to a number of my neighbors, all women, and they all, to a person, said, oh my gosh, I could've told you don't use North County. We re-did our bathroom and the seal around where it is mounted was flawless! The screw caps are secure & I never thought I'd be proud of my toilet l, but I must say, I AM!! Also the sink fixtures are beautiful. The shower was the biggest job. Because the pipes were so old they had to put a whole new valve assembly, having to cut out the old pipes & brazed in the new ones in order to install everything correctly. Of course it would happen late at night - sewer line backed up. Called North County Plumbing first thing in morning. They graciously rescheduled their day and Chris arrived within an hour. We're new to this house and it took some work to learn how the sewer line weaved about under the foundation and where the cleanouts were, but Chris chased it down with his gear (one cleanout was buried). Got it all working again and their fee was very reasonable. we had a terrible experience with this company. We were out of the area and there was a leak that soaked the kitchen. They said it was a pin hole leak in the wall so the opened the dry wall and replaced a section of pipe. They proceeded to tell me the house needed to have all new piping because the leak was still happening. I drove to the house and found the water heater was leaking from the bottom in the same area they replaced the pipe. I used a camera to inspect the inside of the wall were they did the work and there was no evidence of water damage from a spraying pinhole. We changed the water heater and the problem was fixed. When I called to complain the owner quickly said the pipe was bad, I have to pay him and that he would sue me. I never said I wouldn't pay but he was ready with this response too naturally. He then proceeded to tell me I said things I never did. I've found out that I was not unique. Unless there are no other options I would pick a different plumber. read more

I had a good experience with NCP a few years ago, so when I had a few pipe issues I gave them a call. The plumber that showed up (Dave I think), did not appear to know what he was doing. He kept having to text pictures of stuff and text his boss (Paul I think, the owner). He told me that he couldn't quote the job because he didn't know how long it would take so he would have to charge for time + parts. I agreed, because of my previous experience. Dave spent over 5 hours driving around town trying to find the pipes to fix a leak at the well. When he finally did return and fixed the leak, he broke another pipe and had to drive around to get the parts to fix that. He charged for his time! The other issue was a frozen handle on our laundry room sink faucet. He said that the faucet would need to be replace. He said that I would need to go buy another faucet before he could fix it. I asked him what kind of faucet to look for and he wasn't sure. After the day (and charging my card) I called Paul to complain about the service. He agreed with me that it didn't sound right that I be charged for all this and that he would talk to Dave and get back to me. I called him a week later after I didn't hear from him. Now Paul tells me that the $585 charge was accurate. I was irate, but asked if he could at least tell me what faucet I needed to buy. He said he would get back to me after he talked to Dave. He didn't. A couple weeks later I noticed that the pipe at the well that Dave had "fixed" was leaking again. I called Paul and he was no help once again. I will be disputing my credit card charge with my bank. I then called 4 G's plumbing. They came out and fixed the leak at the well (correctly this time). They also fixed the laundry room sink without having to buy a new one. They charged only $180! Use 4 G's Plumbing! read more

David and his crew of one was here to subcontract on a plumbing project. He noted that there was a minor leak in a ball valve and offered to fix it for $130. I said yes. He had his crewman fix it and was done in no more than 15-20 minutes at which point David argued and said he knew for a fact that it was 30 minutes because he got on a phone call while the work started and proceeded to try to prove exactly how he knew. I was billed for $135/hour and when I asked he billed for an hour of labor, he said he bills in 1 hour increments. Fair enough. But, I explained to him that he was already here doing another job and thought that it is unethical that he would he bill me for a one hour service call. He got snooty with me and said I am already working overtime, writing up this bill for you and I know your customer type. Absolutely rude. I already have a trusted plumber but he seemed nice enough but I allowed them to fix it since they were already on site. I changed my mind after experiencing his response when I brought up an unethical billing practice. This was not a service call. You were already here and wanted to capitalize on what was an easy fix. Also made me feel uncomfortable as a woman who deals with male workers on a daily basis. David knows my "customer type" also is unable to professionally handle feedback without taking it personally and making rude, unprofessional comments. read more

We had an emergency situation with our bathtub - our hot water would not shut off! So we had to turn off water to the entire house. We called several plumbers, and North County Plumbing was the soonest to respond to our message, and they were the ONLY business who said they could come that same day. They wound up being delayed on another job, but kept in constant contact with us, letting us know they would be late to our house, and let us know exactly when they were on their way. When our plumber Dave arrived, he listened carefully to our issues and then got right to work. It was obvious he was extremely knowledgeable and professional in his ability to both diagnose the problem and apply a solution. Besides fixing our original problem, he was also able to address and fix some other minor plumbing issues we were having as well. When the job was complete and I was presented with the invoice, I was pleasantly surprised that the total bill seemed completely fair and appropriate. These guys were good. Our hot water heater failed overnight and I called them in the AM. They had a replacement in stock and they sent it right out. They arrived within about 15 minutes. The guys who came were competent and although the job was a bit of a struggle because it was a 50 gal unit they didn't seem to have any trouble with the job. I do a lot of my own plumbing so I am very picky and they did a very clean installation, no muss no fuss. It was a big relief to have hot water after just a short wait, so I would definitely use these guys again! read more

Needed a faucet replaced. Paul said plumber would come "after lunch" but it ended up being after 5pm. Plumber Doug diagnosed problem & returned following afternoon with supplies. Job completed within an hour. Doug was very friendly and answered all our questions. No more leaks under the kitchen sink so we're happy. Unfortunately, calling a plumber is not cheap. $90 just to show up & diagnose situation. But that seems to be the going rate around here so we'd recommend North County Plumbing again because Paul and Doug seem honest and knowledgeable and we're satisfied with Doug's completed work. read more

Do not even bother calling them. Call in the morning before 8 in the morning, someone could be out between 1 and 2 pm. Well called at 4:30 and the gentleman forgot to send someone. Asked for my number, but, I know it shows up on his phone. Called him back at 5: 40. Told him to forget it. He hangs up on Me. Called him back, he answers and does not give me the chance to explain why I am upset. " I am not supposed to interrupt him as he is talking" and again hangs up as I was going to say to him.....
