My hair has more body from the perm and the students were nice though inexperienced. Their manager worked with them and the price was great!

I have to agree with the previous review, and more. After waiting 30 minutes for "setup" which consisted of up to 10 individuals walking back and forth talking about personal life, we advised them that we needed to leave in an hour. We were then asked "well do you even want to do this?" We relied, yes we do, we just have a time limit so we will forego our manicure portion of the Groupon. During this time, another student came to the counter complaining about a ticket she was given, "I don't do kids." My friend's daughter, who we brought with us for her first pedicure, was the only child in the establishment. We were finally taken back to the chairs. A very poor pedicure with no foot massage, minimal debridement of of callus surfaces, no buffing, cleaning or shaping of the nails was performed and no cuticle care was performed until I asked specifically (this was meant with eye rolling and a search for the required equipment which was the excuse we were given for the 30 minute "setup"). After a nail painting job my 7 year old son could have done better, I was told, "all done". My sandals were on the floor and no effort was made to hand them to me, much less put them on. I was not offered a drying option despite the fact that my companions were both under the dryers. This is a very similar service to my companion. Interestingly, her daughter, for whom we paid for services, received excellent care and has a pedicure that I envy. Sheila was fantastic with her daughter. Nicole and the tech who did my companion's nails received no supervisor or feedback from any supervisor the entire time we were being serviced. I believe this is required for a teaching institution. Nicole specifically stated she had only been in that school for 5 weeks. This leaves much to be desired if you are planning to attend this institution. In addition, I have a call in to the State Licensing Board to question the supervision requirements for students. I believe you have to have at least a cursory review of the services provided, and I can guarantee that this was not done on anyone in our party. If it had, the childish and laughable pedicures would never have been allowed. I called and spoke the the direction who stated they cannot do refunds, and I would need to request a refund for both Groupons through Groupon. Not a very savvy customer service gesture at all Billie. My recommendation is don't, just don't. read more

My mother in law and I bought a 16 dollar Groupon the other day t o get Mani pedis. The pedicure was a joke. The water was luke warm. They do not scrape the bottom of your feet to get the dead skin off, the girl didn't not even clean the dirt out from under my toe nails or finger nails. she did not file or cut anything down. The only thing good about mine was that she painted the nails nice. My mother in law had to come home and file and shape up her own nails and clean the nail polish off around her fingers. My 7 year old daughter could have painted her nails better. I know that they are in school and learning but I would have at least cleaned up the nail polish around the fingers. I would never in my life go back to that place. read more

I was disappointed with the service. Though nice enough the student was clearly distracted and the school did not have anyone checking up on her. The pedi was adequate, except she never used the massage scrub and moisturized my legs AFTER she polished my toenails. Very odd. She moisturized one hand but not the other during the mani. The facial was supposed to be 20 minutes to include SPF30 moisturizer, it was in no way 20 minutes and if the moisturizer was used, the last thing she did was wipe it off! Kinda negates the benefit of SPF30. I won't make this mistake again, I expected an instructor would at least be circulating and checking students technique. The price is fair, but for a few extra $ go to a regular nail salon. Facial, pay full price at a regular salon, no benefit here at all. read more

First, I would like to preface this comment by informing readers that I am a medical professional (Registered Nurse) and a Navy Veteran. I have never complained about any business of any type in my 27 years as an adult. I would not recommend this school to anyone for facial specialty training. During the initial tour I was grossly mislead into thinking that their program had regular classes/lectures and that the instructors actually taught their facial specialty students techniques & procedures. On the first day, I discovered much of what I was lead to believe during the tour, was inaccurate. The student I shadowed that day was very unhappy with the program, and I found out that they don't have regular class/lectures. They had one 24 year old training video to watch, and it was scratched and wouldn't even play all the way through. I knew within 1-2 hours on my first day there, I had made a terrible decision choosing this program. I spent the entire day there in shock at the things I was hearing and observing. This situation was more than "the program was not the right fit for me" or I was "disappointed in their program format". This entire experience boils down to me being mislead into signing a contract based on information which was explained by the school in a dishonest way. If the school would have been forthright about their facial specialty program, mentioning the fact that they do not regularly have classes/lecture, they have not decent audio-visual training material, and that the instructors do not teach students techniques, but the students learn from each other and YouTube videos, then I would have never chosen this school. read more

The best school around by far! The instructors are full of knowledge and are willing to help in any situation! The school is set up like a real salon, so it gets you perfectly prepared for what you are going to have to deal with once you graduate and begin a career as a cosmetologist. I've learned so much here. I am very glad and happy I picked North Florida Academy! I feel confident I will make a great hairstylist, thanks to this school. read more

Ok I normally Never leave bad reviews. I am very patient and chill so not much gets me irritated. But this place was such a joke. First of all the staff was rude but that's not necessarily cause for a bad review but it gets much worse. So me my sister and my neice decided to give this place a chance and have a girl's day. First we all wanted a Mani and pedicure but after we saw that only one tech was working we all decided to just get a full set. so after about 30 min of waiting for her to "set up" she called me back. She barely buffed my nails like literally went over each nail once with a nail file not even a buffer. Then she started to get the nails out to size to my fingers. Then she called the teacher over and asked how do I do this? She showed her how to cut and file the nail to fit my nails. She only had 4 sizes, all the nails were mixed together and she couldn't find any to fit certain fingers. So after about 20 min she was able to get 5 nails glued on. When I pulled my hand up and looked at them they were all crooked and I told her that and she just looks at me and says yes they are aren't they? Then I sat my hand back down and 2 of the nails she glued on popped right off! I couldn't believe it. She then told me well you know it's not to late to go somewhere else. I was shocked. So I told her yes I'm going to this is crazy. It took me 2 seconds to pop off the nails she "glued" on cus they were barely stuck to me. I asked her if she ever did a full set before and she said no sorry. I don't understand why they would only have one nail tech on the floor who had never done nails before. The teachers were no where around and didn't seem to care 3 people were about to walk out. She even said to me when I first ​sat down " can I ask you why you guys would come here to get your nails done?" I replied because you guys do nails? Then she said I'm just saying I would never go to a school to get a full set. I told her any school I went to before for nails has been fine and had actually done nails before. I can not believe this place is still in business. I have NEVER been to a place so unprofessional before. This place almost ruined our girls day and they lost our business for good. This school is a complete and total rip off for any student that goes here. Not only do they charge 12K+ to be a student, they also charge customers full price for services that are done by STUDENTS that are still learning. They also require students to WORK full time for NOTHING but the petty tips they get from customers. If a student is sick they charge the student additional $25 for missing a Saturday bc of course that's their busy day and they need workers to keep up with the work flow which ultimately makes the company more money. If they are busy, stuidents don't get breaks and are called off of their lunch breaks to complete jobs for them...Once a student has completed the hours required to graduate, they WILL NOT give out a certificate until a certain amount of products are sold and certain services are completed which leaves many students scrambling at the end of the program to sell as many products as they can OR ultimately being required to buy out their own products (100+ products at a min of $6.50 a piece) The Manager is a complete bitch with no customer service skills at all. This school is all about making money for themselves and trying to figure out a way to nickel and dime their students. I do not recommend this school to anyone.. I will be writing the BBB as well because this school is taking the government grant money and making it near impossible for students to actually complete the program without having to dish out additional money.. Charging students $14 an hour to continue class after hours are complete in order to TRY sell the products you require is beyond ridiculous and then when they don't show bc they can't afford the $14 an hour, you charge $25 a day for Saturdays that are missed until the products are sold...... They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

very poor service very rude unprofessional staff looks like mom/pop beauty school where every one thinks they are the boss! the students don't know anything, it took them 4 hours to do my hair cut and came out with horrible cut all choppy and had to redo at another salon, plus bought my mom along for nails which also took 4 hours and 2 people working on her , again they didn't know what they were doing, came out with broken messed up nails horrible work and wanted to charge me these people are rip off and the school should shut down. i heard students are paying $14000 to get trained here which i feel bad because from my experience they don't know a darn thing!!! do not go here and waste your money. read more
