PSA: DO NOT GO TO NORTH FORK ANIMAL CLINIC!! A few months back I had my dog looked at as a new patient. Their system was down so they took all my info down and created his chart later. Also I was told that I would receive a bill in the mail. Fast forward to March, one of my neighbors walks my bill down to my house with a "FINAL NOTICE" label on it. No phone calls. No emails. They had the wrong address so the previous bills were never received and I was going to be sent to collections for a mistake I DIDN'T MAKE! When I called in and attempted to speak about it with the staff, I was met with hostility by the billing department saying "we sent the statements, so you're responsible". When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told they were busy and that owner doubled down on what I was told "it doesn't matter if you didn't receive the previous bills, you got this one so you're still responsible and the late fees will remain on your account". I wanted to give them a shot as a new vet, but never again after this experience. This all could have been avoided with a simple phone call or even an email. The only reason they get 2 stars are the clinicians, who I thought were attentive and great. Go to Tharp or Chillicothe Animal Clinic. read more

I have a dog that can be mean. Some vets would not give her shots or clip her nails. She needed an ingrown toenail removed, I let them know she could be mean. They got the nail out and gave her shots. No problem. When she got sick, I took her back to them they were really good with her. My dog doesn't like them but they have treated her very good She don't like any vet though. The last time she was there they clipped her nails which I appreciated. I will be taking her to them as long as they can handle her, and they do a good job of it. read more

The dogs symptoms progressed never went away following into the next day so she called back and they could not fit her back in until the evening. At this point various vets were called in which they all stated that she must go back to the vet who did the procedure. Went here a few times. Had my male dog fixed here. The first time I got flea meds for all five of my animals it was $103 now it's $118. Was not told about prices going up. Or even told how much it was when I called. Last time I didn't receive a receipt. Plus my male cat was not in their system. But I did receive a flea meds for him too. My sisters dog went in for a routine spay. Post procedure, the 9 month old puppy wasn't eating or acting like herself. My sister had a guy feeling something was wrong. She made an appointment to get her checked and the clinic said nothing was wrong and to feed her a cheeseburger or something good to bring her appetite back. after taking the puppy back home, still no eating and not acting right, the pups stomach started to swell. My sister panicked and called all of the vets in Chillicothe and they stated she had to go to the vet where the procedure was preformed. she got in with the original vet just days later, however, just 20 minutes prior to the appointment time, my sisters puppy lay on the floor and took her last breathe with sign and released her bodily fluids. In denial, my sister and her boyfriend rushed her to the vet again. The clinic took the limp puppy inside just for the vet to come out to tell her that their puppy has passed away. my sister is distraught and sick over this :( Abs my heart is broken for her. The vet told her after that they would pay for the cremation due to living in the city she wasn't allowed to burry the dog in their yard. (our dad has land in the country where she could have been buried). It just seems fishy to me that they'd offer to pay for the cremation instantly after this happened. Turns out there was a blockage due to surgery complications and a hole formed in her stomach, making her stomach acid leak throughout her body. my sister's message to everyone is "Trust your gut feeling with your animals. If you think something is wrong fight you get your animal in. You know your animal better than anyone else." My sister was trying to be a responsible pet owner by getting her spayed and now she is overwhelmed with guilt. read more

One other reviewer said you didn't care for animals!! Well, I surely disagree with her! I took my 12 yr old cat to another vet about 3 to 5 years ago, and was told that he'd be dead within 6 weeks! Well I switched to Northfork, and have had nothing but the royal treatment from them! She must've gone there on a bad [busy] day! I won't ever stop going there! My normal vet was booked all the way up untill the 22nd of July. I called North Fork and they had me an appointment scheduled for an hour later. Not to mention, they had treated him in 30 minutes or less. They were quick and helpful and took the BEST care of my boy. I'll never take my animals anywhere else again! read more

No stars the are the worst, they have no care for animals all about the money. They rude and hang up the phone if you ask to speak to the manager. If you love your pet don't take them there they do sloppy work and don't care if they kill your dog. read more

Back in March I took my dog there because this is where I adopted him had made the apt for his neuter(in contract, couldn't be avoided) when I was called to return and pick my boy up I was given take home instruction while in the lobby. They then brought me back to a back room to tell me my boy had passed in recovery. They "didn't know why but these things just happen." I had mentioned a necropsy and they had implied that I shouldn't waste my money on getting one done on him because he "probably had a pre-existing heart condition that they can't catch just by listening with a stethoscope." (Something that they said could be caught on an ecg/ekg machine but they didn't use one on him.) They had talked me out of it (momentarily) because I knew I couldn't afford the extra money I had just given them for a cremation, for the very expensive necropsy out of pocket. That night I gathered the money for the necropsy because I felt it needed done. The next morning I called and told them I changed my mind, I would pay for one. They told me I had to pick his body up and take it to OSU. When I got there to pick him up he was crumpled in a trash bag as they placed him in the back of my car. When I arrived at OSU they where nothing but kind, compassionate, and helpful to me. I asked them if I had to pick up his body and take it back to my vet or to the crematory when it was done because I had paid them in full for the service, they told me this is where I'm done taking care of things and my vet (North fork) is now responsible for his body and getting him to the crematory and his ashes for me to pick up. A few days go by and north fork calls me questioning what is to be done with Duke's body. I told them exactly what OSU told me and the receptionist who answered started getting an attitude and interrupting me while I explained what I had been told. She told me that "I needed to call and figure out what is being done with his body because they don't do anything with them since OSU has their own cremation plans." North fork made me call between them and OSU multiple times until I told them "instead of putting me in the middle they could just call OSU and figure it out and then let me know instead of making me do it." That would be the least they could do as I was already mourning the loss of my new boy. I called back the next day and they still haven't contacted OSU so his body stayed there for longer than need be. "We have surgeries to do this morning so we'll get ahold of them later when we have the time." Around the time they where to close I got the call saying "their crematory would pick dukes body up from OSU and everything was taken care of." Something that OSU said should have been done in the first place. Fast forward to finally getting preliminary results. I called OSU to get the results first to see how long it would take for them to call me once they got them too. It took them a day and a half to call me and admit to being at fault with Duke's death. He had bled out internally because they messed up his surgery and an artery wasn't taken care of. They admitted when I asked to the "vet tech" taking care of him not being licensed. They admitted the person who was licensed was not checking on him (or her, the "vet tech) at all. They admitted that this should have been caught and all the signs where there but the vet leaves after all of the surgeries are finished. There's just so much more that went on but this is all I could type. I hope people reconsider and check on the credentials of anywhere they take their babies to. I was too trusting in people I assumed where professionals. I know I'm not the only one. read more

I have taken my animals there for care, they received good care there. That isn't the issue. The issue is paying $91 per dog in May then $117 per a month later and being treated like crap and being told not to come back because I asked for a refund for the difference, ESPECIALLY when one dog wasn't due for a rabies shot. And they tried to charge me for a forth dog that they saw in May but has allergic reactions to vaccines so the vet assist at check out told me just to bring her back no charge other than the vaccine. I said I will bring her back with the others. She said OK that will be fine. And they tried to charge me another wellness exam (office visit). May 9, 2020 $270.77 pd 3 dogs all vaccines including kennel cough / rabies 3 yr (except JoJo, no kennel cough). June 6, 2020 $376.59 pd 2 dogs all vaccines including kennel cough / rabies, 1 dog all vaccines except rabies (wasn't due) and JoJo got her $23.00 kennel cough. We have had many pets and just as many veterinarians. We have found this group of vets to be less than knowledgeable and compassionate. When our pets have been prescribed medication, there has been no follow-up or follow-through; we were simply given the meds and sent out the door. How long do we continue this regimen? What should we expect? And, finally, when our dogs experience fairly normal anxiety, the doctors (not the technicians--who have a much better understanding of animal behavior) made no accommodation or effort to help alleviate the fear. Unfortunately, I wouldn't let them look at a goldfish. read more

North Fork takes great care of our two girls when we need to travel. They have grooming available as well so if they are staying during the week I can arrange for them to be pampered before they come home with a Beth, a new "Doo" and a Pedi. If they are just staying the weekend I can arrange for them to have a bath. The pricing is so very reasonable compared to other kennels in the area. I would take them there no matter what the cost because the staff takes such good care of them. read more

Wish I could give them zero stars. Have given north fork chance after chance. They are horrible with nervous dogs and that became crystal clear not only with our last dog who had a nervous condition since we bought him who they were very bad at handling but with our current dog, Rusty. Rusty has been great at the vet and great with people and other dogs, energetic yes but as long as he gets his energy out he is good. We left Rusty at the north fork boarding kennel and the girls at the desk in my opinion were a little unwelcoming and I left a review about that, they called about that review, said nothing about our dog. We called about a day later to check on Rusty and that is when she tells me Rusty is having a hard time and has been freaking out the entire time he's been there to the point no one can get near him and the dogs around his cage have been taken to further away cages. She also said at least 3 times that he is eating and drinking fine. We found out he was never let out to exercise at all for the 5 days he was there. We ended our vacation a couple days early and went and got him that same day. When I went back to get Rusty he was near other dogs unlike what they said and more importantly he was very obviously extremely terrified and anxious. He was fine as soon as he saw I was there to get him and greeted me excitedly as he always does. On the papers the kennel gave us the vet had attached notes saying Rusty was extremely dangerous and out of control aggressive and needs training and that the next time he came to the vet he'd need sedated and muzzled. Being pent up, surrounded by loud strange dogs and strange people with his owner suddenly no where around is stressful enough on it's own but to be terrified and anxious from all of that is going to be a lethal combination and as a vet you should know how to handle it. So because of all of this Rusty didn't get a kennel cough shot or anything and we were told NOTHING until we took it upon ourselves to call to check on him. I also feel that her saying repeatedly he was eating and drinking fine was her trying to cover their tracks because he was skinnier when he got here and starving and dying of thirst when he got home. Rusty lives with another dog and is not aggressive to her or strangers at all. We told them when he went in that we want them to be cautious with him with other dogs and strangers because we weren't sure how he would do since he plays rough, is very sensitive, and also wouldn't have us around. They apparently took that as he is not to be taken care of. You know on the way home Rusty was sitting on my lap with his arms hanging on to my neck for dear life while he cried and licked my face, clearly he is a blood thirsty monster. The only reason they call for the bad reviews is to try to get the bad review to go away, they don't actually fix anything. So north fork, do not call, there is nothing you can or will do to fix anything. We will be getting both our dogs records from you and going to another vet from now on. read more
