"2" year old dog: This dog was promoted to be ye o years old in perfect condition with no health issues. After adoption, we find out that she has lymes disease and she was actually five years old. They were not clear about any of this and I felt extremely scammed out of my money. After calling, they basically said they knew about it and now it was our responsibility to take her to the vet. 2 year-old cat: SUPER cute and cuddly animal who was drawn to me the moment I walked in the door. I loved her to death, but we noticed that she had some health issues. We asked them about it over FIVE times and they changed the topic every single time. Now we have a cat who may have parasites within her. I called back and once again, it's our responsibility to take care of her now. I love animals and I love non-kill animal shelters. But, unless you want a puppy, look elsewhere for adoption. I recently adopted a cat from a humane society in Columbus and it was the best experience ever. DO NOT ADOPT here if you want anything OTHER than a puppy. Save yourself some time and money, because they let animals suffer and expect you to pay for the full price after adoption.

Our dog has obviously been bathed and vetted, and was in good overall health. The staff was gracious and friendly, and told us everything they could about our pet, even giving us a room and a couch to sit on and bond with him. I cannot recommend this shelter highly enough. Absolutely false as I took to the vet because she wasn't going. Vet told me she had kidney failure and cancer and recommended putting her out of pain. I told little victories this and said please check with the vet. They wouldn't go to the trouble and denied me. It…read morelooks like a lot of us are which is why I had some bad thoughts of crazy lab experiments and heaping plates of sketchy stir fry when my neighbor told me about a couple ladies who were combing the area picking up stray cats. But I didn't need to worry. They were volunteers with A Purrfect Start animal rescue in Grove City. On their own time and dime, they were picking up strays to be spayed and neutered and then were returning them to the area, left ear clipped to show they'd been taken in. Purrfect Start has been helping homeless animals, both domestic and feral with food, shelter, fostering, adoptions and also spaying and neutering since the summer of 2008. Kudos to these special folks for doing the right thing. In addition, I recently adopted in one of the kittens they returned to the area. She's a sweetheart named Tawney. but I just call her Ton-Ton. 5 Stars.

They provide a safe and loving home for the animals to get the care they deserve. They open to the public several times a year with open house events. The cost is $10/person. The volunteers here are incredible. They are very patient, very informative, and they care so much about the animals. The open house was so much fun. Lots of opportunities to get up close to the animals. Some were shy, but lots of them were friendly and wanted attention. The ducks were taking a dip, the pigs were napping and the cats were purring away. You can tell the animals are so happy in this peaceful place.

The staff was incredibly personable & it was obvious they took their duties seriously & cared well for the animals in their care. They left us to play with Harrison for as long as we wanted. Mingle with the Mutts is a popular 'mixer' for people and dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter (1731 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus 43207) on the first and third Sundays of the month. They take the Mingle outdoors to various parks and other venues during the summer months. It's a great way to see how the dogs interact and also help keep the shelter dogs socialized.
