I love the beans they use. They have a special chai concentrate that is delicious and a bit lower in sugar than most mixes. It's so fun that you can purchase the concentrate as well! They do make a lot of syrups in house as well. Onto the donuts... the cake donuts (my preference) are just so great! They are crunchy, but moist and not hard at all. It's a truly pleasurable texture. Of the North Lime locations, this is not the original (which is aptly further North and on Limestone; not Limestone street, just Limestone). The original appears to be the superior location, offering more ambiance and vegan donut options. The reason I ended up down at Clays Mill was mainly because of an online app offer that took me here. When I arrived, there was a set of shelves with bags for pickup, none of which were mine, and some boxes at the counter, one of which was. Given the line, I'm glad I poked around on my own, but I wish the pickup location were clearer. I also wish online ordering from them were easier, as getting their menu to pull up has been a problem and I don't know what magic I worked to get it this time. Anyway, the donuts are cake-y and filling. There are daily and weekly rotating flavors, as well as basics. They put the chocolate topping on top of a regular glazed donut, which is as indulgent as it sounds. These aren't the most crazy fancy donuts I've had, but the variety was certainly sufficient to intrigue me. I didn't indulge in their beverage options, but again I think it's largely a consequence of third party apps not displaying all of them. They have their own online ordering and app so maybe the take-home lesson is that I'll try that in the future, as I can definitely see getting some more of these donuts. read more

I really want to give this location four stars, but my online orders keep getting messed up. I leave at least 15%+ tip with my order in hopes of it being double checked for accuracy, but that hasn't been the case here. At my last visit, my order was filled incorrectly. I called and they promised to correct it. When my neighbor so nicely picked up the GF replacement, it had the wrong GF option. When I called a second time, they were out of the GF donut I'd originally ordered around 6am. At today's visit, I almost didn't get my GF donuts. We are not from Lexington, so we looked on google maps for a solidly reviewed coffee and donuts place to stop in as we were driving through and this one looked highly recommended. Once we got there, we noticed we weren't the only ones who had that idea because it was super crowded! The line moved decently fast, so we are glad we didn't let that scare us away. They had a lot of different flavors of donuts, included gluten free options. I ended up choosing a glazed, chocolate covered and also tried the cinna-monkey. Overall the donuts were really good. They felt slightly drier and not as airy/doughy than I normally like, but it wasn't bad. I probably wouldn't get the chocolate one again, as I thought the choc they used was a little overpowering, but the original glazed was good. My wife wasn't the biggest fan of her coffee, so not sure we will be back on next time through, but it was good and in a cool little mall area. read more

This is a small popular cafe and donut shop with limited interior seating. We arrived around 10am on a Friday morning and there was a steady line of customers the entire time we were there. Our group of 5 ordered a box of a dozen assorted donuts. It looked like the shop had 8 different kinds of donuts prepared for the day, but had already sold out of 2 by the time we placed our order. We got 2 of each of the following donuts (prices shown per donut): * Cinna-Monkey - $1.10 * Honey Knot - $2.00 * Cinnamon Sugar - $1.35 * Nourish Your Neighborhood - $3.00 * Funnel Cake - $1.35 * Pumpkin Cream Cheese - $2.00 The 2 donuts they had already sold out of were the Plain Glazed ($0.94) and Chocolate Iced ($1.25) donuts. The donuts were yummy. I rank them as follows: 1. Nourish Your Neighborhood 2. Cinnamon Sugar 3. Honey Knot 4. Pumpkin Cream Cheese 5. Funnel Cake 6. Cinna-Monkey The Nourish donut was by far my favorite. This donut comes with lots of sprinkles and frosting. The cinnamon sugar donut is a simple yet delicious cake donut. I believe all the donuts we tried were cake donuts. The honey knot and pumpkin cream cheese donuts were both special limited-time-only donuts. Both are topped with frosting and the honey knot also contains nuts. The funnel cake tastes exactly how it sounds -- light and airy with lots of powdered sugar. The cinna-monkey is a different kind of donut that looks more like a muffin or cupcake wrapped in one of those fluted baking cups. I didn't like this donut as much because it was harder and drier than the rest. North Lime also sells a nice variety of coffee and espresso drinks in various sizes. If you like your coffee sweet and/or flavored, they have a lot of syrups to choose from. I got an iced coffee and asked for simple syrup to be added. You can add cream and regular sugar or artificial sweeteners yourself at a self-serve counter near the entrance. Good service. read more

I decided to stop here (when did this location open!?) on my way to an engagement in Wilmore this evening. Since it was half an hour before closing time, the lack of a crowd was expected. I was, however, not the last one through the doors! So..... Good location. Plenty of parking. And inside? PLENTY of tables. I do wish there were more cozy seating aside from the two armchairs in the corner, but hey, at least it's a good place to sit with your laptop and sip coffee while using the free WiFi. I was a bit disappointed with the donut offerings today: a cinnamon donut, PB&J, funnel cake, and a cinnamon monkey bread-like baked good. Each one is perfectly fine but there should have been more variety. None of them really appealed to me so I opted for a cinnamon donut and a small white chocolate latte with soy milk. The donut was good! Even at the end of the day. The latte was fine and served its purpose to wake me up. It was a bit expensive at over $5 for a small. Eek. This location also has some games, shirts for sale, and loud music. Otherwise, it's really lacking the character from the original location. I kind of wish they brought some of that funkiness over here. Maybe they're working on it? On its own, it's not too bad, though. Their donuts are probably the best in Lexington and food and service are always consistently good. Never had a bad experience here except for the hour after eating too many delicious donuts (not their fault).
