We decided to try this place based on reviews but left disappointed. The reviews that we had seen made it seem like a typical donut shop that would have a big variety to pick from. Unfortunately they only had about 5 different pastries to choose from and they did not appear to be freshly made. We ended up leaving empty handed. It was very loud inside and the layout was confusing. People were going different directions to line up so I'm not sure which way you're actually supposed to line up. We noticed North Lime Coffee & Donuts while visiting Chocolate Holler a day prior. It was late afternoon, so North Lime was already closed. But the next morning, Hubby was craving donuts so we headed straight to the Greyline Station location. First impression, the interior is much more spacious than I expected! Also, I really dig the music that is played. I inquired about the music, and they were playing Indie Coffee Shop Vibes on Spotify. There are a few cushy chairs to sit in, lots of tables, chairs, a few booths, and a tiny library with children's books about donuts. One wall has a colorful mural, and near one of entrances behind the coffee counter is a poser of Britney Spears with a speech bubble containing the bathroom code. Looking at the donut selection, there was one vegan option. I believe they always carry one vegan option with a rotating flavor. On this particular day, it was a Vegan Snickers Donut. It's a chocolate donut, two icings (one being chocolate), and crushed peanuts. The flavor brought me instand joy! I especially liked the little bit of crisp biting into this cakey donut. We went there because we read that they make at least one vegan donut every day, but wound up getting some iced chai and some swag too while we were there. I tried one of the north lime locations in Louisville and wasn't super impressed but I thought I'd give this location a try and it was so much better. The donuts are definitely thiccccc but they aren't overly sweet. I got a chocolate glazed donut and it could use some more chocolate flavor with the icing but I enjoyed it. I also got an iced mocha which was delicious. The space itself is super spacious with lots of seating and plenty of people were there doing work. Nice redemption from my first experience! read more

I would give them five-stars, but some things have been happening that make it a little hard to do so. I've online ordered a few times, it shows everything's good to go, but I show up at my pick up time and either my items were already sold out, or they aren't completely ready. North Lime has multiple locations, but this one is actually on the northern part of Limestone and thus must be the namesake. It appears to be the crown jewel of Greyline station and offers a large interior seating environment and hot beverages, as well as a significant rotating donut selection, including a daily vegan specialty flavor and occasional GF options, which aren't easy to find with these sorts of desserts. And taste-wise, my vegan chai was not much different from my conventional chocolate glazed donut, with both being as indulgent as one would hope. It's not health food, but this is likely as good a donut as you can find around here. read more

One of the first places I visited when I landed in Lexington a few years ago. The regular donuts reminded me of fry bread, and the cortado was amazing. I couldn't believe that a donut shoppe could make a better espresso drink than all of the coffee places in town - but that's how Lexington is - the best places are never the ones that you'd expect. FYI - they make the best hamburger for "Hamburger Week," but don't belong to that event. They just make their own and aren't part of the advertisements the "official sponsors" are part of. I was on a whirlwind Lexington trip and we had 24 hours to explore. We chose North Lime Coffee and Donuts as one of our stops. It was New Year's Eve and I called earlier that day to check the hours. A man with a friendly voice answered the phone and told me they were open until noon. So my friend and I drove down Limestone Street to find them at the intersection of N Limestone and E 6th Street, right across from Al's Bar. I couldn't choose so I ordered TWO coffee drinks! An 8oz Butter Coffee for here and a "Shakey Nate" iced espresso drink in a personal cup. I also got a French Toast donut which was delicious. If you like maple frosting, this donut is for you: a square-shaped pastry, amply frosted by hand and dusted with powdered sugar. The barista also told me this was her favorite donut. I wondered if the Butter Coffee was similar to a bulletproof coffee drink I tried in Chicago that claims to "boost energy and cognitive function," with a $9 price tag. Using that as my baseline, the Butter Coffee was creamy, not too buttery, and muuuch more affordable at $2.50 for a small 8oz. For those who love cream and use half & half for their coffee, this drink is yours to try. That's what I loved about this place: quality, made-with-love coffee and donuts that embodies the company's values of quality, ingenuity, compassion, enthusiasm, and generosity. All of this, without having a hefty price tag. Yelp nation, it doesn't get better than this! My friend ordered a cup of brewed coffee and a cinnamon sugar donut. We sat at the barstools looking out to E Sixth Street with an amazing view of the mural by Michael Burrell (2008). I experienced a little slice of Lexington in a short amount of time. For those of us who are good with just donuts and coffee, these folks do it right! My only complaint is the donut selection is a bit limited. The donuts they have are super fresh and very tasty. Some of their daily special donuts are unusual, i.e., a donut with peaches and cream filling, but I tried one and it was really good! I've been here several times, and every time something is wrong with my order. Last time my cinna monkey donut was completely raw in the center. The donuts are just...not that good. This time they made my drink hot instead of iced. The drink was also not good, but by that point I'd already waited 10 minutes for the remake, so I just went ahead and drank it. Wow, Yelp definitely was on point for the donuts at North Lime. It was worth the 1-mile walk from my hotel and wasting my earlier morning Precor workout for me to try this local donut shop. I've frequented quirky donut shops in Portland, OR (Blue Star, Voodoo) and Seattle (Top Pot, Frost) and was curious how North Lime stacks up. I was bummed they did not have the Bourbon Butter donuts! I ordered two donuts and washed it down with an Americano. The Maple Bacon was amazing - the donut was soft and spongy which I liked, and had an interesting balance of sweet and salty glaze that just works. The bacon bits wasn't burnt to a crisp and had some slight chewiness thankfully. The Chocolate Iced Donut was one of their more popular classics. It was sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. I found the texture to be on the lighter side too. It was like eating a really good chocolate cake with super smooth chocolate icing. Friendly service and pretty quirky donut shop in Lexington. I would rate it 5-stars, as I feel it is one of the better donuts I've ever had. Their Americano was bold and smooth too. Found this little gem and what a treat. When we got there some doughnuts were already sold out. So if you go get there early. The doughnut of the day was gingerbread.
