I open the door and I am met with a wonderful, welcoming smile. Wrong location? Nope. No appointment and no worry. The government " greeter " working happily with no paycheck started this surprisingly positive experience. Two pretty stale security people were tough to break smile even with a thank. The modern waiting area was almost empty so a no appointment connect was easy thanks to the smiling welcome/greeter. 15 minutes and on my way to an almost pristine interview booth. Another smile and a beautiful Halloween attired SS staff member politely greeted me. Maybe 7 or 8 minutes later... done...factually verified and on my way. What a positive...satisfying...experience.

Conveniently located in the heart of Salt Lake City, across from City Hall, the SS office is located on an upper floor of the large 80s style office building. A security checkpoint is located at the fifth floor office lobby's entrance and after being screened by security upon entering, one is directed to a kiosk where you are prompted to enter which department you need to deal with for your particular need. Once your data entered, a printed ticket is issued. Then, the wait begins, as you scan the digital monitors on the front wall over and over in hope that your number will be posted. Patience is required as it takes quite a while to get called to one of the windows behind which the human SS agents are located. My wait to be for my number to come up took about 1 1/2 hours, in a room that seemed to be about 1/3 full. The time it takes to be called is the real downside of visiting this office. Finally, when I approached the window of the agent who was to assist me, trying to create a human touch to our interaction, I commented about the nice view from her desk area. She agreed, took my paperwork and efficiently copied and entered the information as required. Her efficiency was commendable. I'm sure this is a thankless work environment and many situations are fraught with personal, life impacting issues that aren't easily solved. Luckily for me, everything in my case was straight forward and easily dealt with. After just a few minutes, my tenure in bureaucratic hell was over and I was happily on my way back to reality. Five stars for my agent's help, 1 star for having to wait in the queue for nearly two hours.

Every staff member I interacted with was helpful, polite, and friendly. They were patient and professional, and I truly appreciate the work they do to help people in our community. Thank you for making what can sometimes be a stressful process a much more pleasant experience!

Wow. Well where do I start. I have been fighting for SSDI for 2 years. I got approved. I was approved 2 years later after having to fight for it. I was approved my the judge on May 27th and ssdi approved me June 30th, I got a letter stating that my back pay was on hold due to my ssi application. I was denied ssi on July 7th 2026 which was my interview with them but yet, as they sent a letter saying it was the 16th of july 2026. They released the payment to my lawyers, and when i spoke to ssdi the end if july they said i should have my back pay by the 22nd of August 2026, said if i had not heard anything by that yime then to call. I called and was told ssi had not closed out my case and my back pay is still on hold! Lol so it's been almost 45 days since i was denied by ssi even though it shows i was denied in both ssi and ssdi systems they will not release my back pay until ssi processes my case. My landlord was diagnosed with cancer and has been fighting and found out 1 week ago about there is nothing else they can do for him and gas 6 months to live. I am and have been counting on this back oay from ssdi that i have fought 2 years for and waited 70 minutes on the phone today to be tomd i should just be patient. Being told ssi case mamget has not done their job. They wonder why there are soooo many homeless and upset and angry people. But when some on the other end that has an attitude from the get go of answering the phone and you are truong very hsrd to be nice. I actially have no patience for people who are unable to do.their jobs! And if anyone makes thos political it's not a political thing. It's a person that is holding up my back pay. I even asked if there was anything i could so to help speed it along. I was tomd they sent an email to the manager. So I am just supposed yo have patience well maybe they should be more patient with people and nicer wjen answering their calls!

All of the levels and common areas had an abundance of space and tall ceilings! The stairs and elevators were close together and easy to navigate. We ventured through each level and then made our way to the rooftop which had a lot of seating and spectacular views of downtown SLC and its surroundings. The weather was perfect to stay up there and chat for an hour. We also visited the Library Bees- we didn't expect to find Langstroth hives inside a library. This is the coolest library I've been to in the US. If you love books and libraries this is a can't miss experience.

There's an enclosed outdoor area as well, an "attic," so much tactile stuff, even an enclosed play pen for littles with walls of board books. And that's just one of five floors (+ rooftop garden). There are shops and a cafe on the main entrance. They give you two free hours of parking, which will FLY by. Honestly, I could live here.
