When we pulled into the parking lot, it was packed and we thought we would have to wait to get in. That was not the case, we were seated right away. This was a very cool place to stop by. It's very cozy with interesting decorations, Muskets? It's attached a small shop that was also fun to explore while waiting too! Service was decently fast. The server (who has probably been there for decades) steered him away from two pancakes, which was a good call because the pancakes are huge. Standard breakfast fare. There isn't anything too special about the food items themselves but the prices in this economy, are good. Service is generally okay. This is the best breakfast and lunch place on the east side of the metro area. It's got 1980's prices and portions. A real meat and potatoes menu. Servers are friendly and mostly a locals over 50 vibe. Open for breakfast and lunch until 2 pm and the fact that they removed all desserts from the menu is drawback. I wish they offered a supper service (discontinued since covid). The general atmosphere is lively action, vibrant retro, hometown as Mayberry! I thought i stepped back into my teenage years growing up in rural MN. If you have not tried this resturant, you need too before it is too late. This is a #1 breakfast or lunch destination. Excellent food, great value, and the best cooks and servers of any cafe. Be early, as it fills fast. It seems like a small town outstanding restaurant. Wow!! If your feeling hungry any morning, this is the place to fill your belly!! The wait was about 40 minutes but we expected it. Went there on a Sunday and morning & it is true that if you go after 10AM, be prepared to wait. Our wait time was about 15 minutes but it was great as the staff was super friendly and we used the time to go into the adjoining pharmacy & gift store to pick up a couple of items. Our host was friendly and server even friendlier. Even when they were busy, we did not feel rushed at all. Such a cute place! We just moved to the neighborhood and went for the first time today. Lots of good food that was served fast and with a smile for a great price! An old school favorite. This place is a no-frills family diner style restaurant. If you come for breakfast, expect to wait a short time if you come after 8:30 am, a bit longer around 9:45 after the church crowd comes in on Sunday. I love the standard North Pole breakfast (eggs, potatoes, meat, and toast, plus a small glass of juice), but every so often, I am swayed to a pancake. Just be aware, their pancakes are larger than the plates they're served on. Unless you are starving, one is usually plenty. I miss them being open for dinner, since I loved the soup of the day here, but totally understandable with the current climate of the service industry. read more

Ahhhh the North Pole Restaurant. As an out of stater, I drove about 5 hours to this precise location because of the images and reviews I had seen online. This place is what pancake dreams are made of. If you are a local, and this restaurant is all you know - then, it probably is just ordinary run of the mill pit stop for some solid eats. But if you have spent the better part of your life hitting up restaurants throughout the majority of Midwest, like me - you'd know no place makes pancakes like the North Pole restaurant. No one brings their "A game" to breakfasts like this place. The bacon is legendary. Thick and cooked to perfection. Sausage was great as well. But the showstopper was the pancakes. Pancakes so big you won't even see your plate when they bring the colossal flap jacks to you. I love the ambiance of this place as well. This restaurant is a well-oiled machine and looks like a hole in the wall. The young girls hosting and running the cash register - do a great job seating people quickly. The management seems very involved in helping the servers get the food out quickly. The North Pole Restaurant ranks as my favorite breakfast joint to run to - or dream of, when I am states away. Do yourself a favor, order the Blueberry Pancakes and you will understand the awesomeness of this restaurant. Friend's cheese omelette looked fine. I had a salad with a chicken strip on top. Chicken was good. Tomatoes weren't worth tasting. Plain chopped lettuce had some onions & green peppers. A local recommended this restaurant to us as an alternative to the long lines and congestion in the popular Woodbury breakfast spots. It was so nice to sort of step back in time and be able to sit right down, get an entire pot of coffee, and receive friendly old-fashioned service. Our food was delicious and the pancakes are so large that the Mr. couldn't finish just one. The decor was pretty funny but we actually found several items in the attached gift shop for silly gifts for Christmas. We are definitely going to come back here again and again. read more

This place was nice and small, a little hard to find but not that big of a problem. My other half and I came in and ordered. The server was a nice older lady, she was patient and helped us decide what we wanted on the menu. My other half ordered pancakes, eggs and bacon. I ordered a cheese omelette, with veggies, the food took a bit to get out but it was a bit crowded. The food when it came out was good, the one thing I didn't like is they have a section off the side facing hwy 61 but there wasn't social distancing, everyone was really close to one another. I'm an Over The Road Truck Driver, and I work for a company out of Newport,MN. I had some of our office personal,tell me about The North Pole Restaurant. So I decided to go there one day, and I was really glad I did!!! The service is excellent, and waitresses are courteous and friendly!!! The food is absolutely terrific, especially the biscuits and gravy!!! The price is very good, and you get plenty of food!!! I have been going there for about 4 years now, and look forward to eating there, everytime I'm in town!!! It's hard for us truck drivers to find a good restaurant anymore, this place is the best place I've ever eaten!!! I highly recommend it!!!! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!!! read more
