When my wife called, the receptionists told her that we had been "fired from their services" because we had patronized another vet clinic in town once. This is hands down the best veterinary office I have ever been to, and if you have a husky, then you know I've been to a lot. I am brand new to Alaska, barely just got a home address, and they were able to get me in the same day for an exam for my dog who was displaying concerning lethargy and sickness. The staff are kind, courteous, clearly informative, understanding and work hard to make sure my pup is taken care. I visit the vet more frequently than I would ever prefer, and I was so worried about finding a good office in Alaska when moving here. I took a chance on a coworker recommendation and I'm so happy that I did. Having a pet that you're responsible for can be expensive, I will not denote positive feelings for that, but they were clear with the estimates and services I might need and provided me with a care plan that clearly presented steps for each scenario. I hope we don't have to come back anytime soon, but I feel good about where we go when it is time to return. Thank you North Pole Vet! read more

My dog was seen here one time in Sept of 2022 (previously diagnosed with heart failure) as he was having breathing issues. The vet said his heart failure had progressed and would eventually be fatal. They told me to not let him play, don't walk him, etc. I was not okay with that because I wanted him to have the best life ever and he still loved to play just not as long so I never took him back there. Fast forward to this week when it was time to let him go. I called yesterday to find out if we could come in this week to talk to a vet because this was our first time doing this and I wanted to make sure he would be treated well (he has been a family member for 12 years) he progressed rapidly by afternoon and I called and said we would have to bring him in Saturday. She told me that was fine and to call ahead so they would be ready. Around five PM my daughter said the vet called her at work about our dog. She said that is my mom's dog and gave them my number, no one called me and when I called back they were closed so I left a voicemail - not sure why they didn't call me as the owner as she is listed as an emergency contact not the owner. Fast forward to today, Saturday morning, our family came together to say goodbye and I called to let them know we were on the way. At that time they told us they would not provide services for my dying dog and that we were "fired" from their clinic for an altercation that took place last year 2023. AGAIN I HAVE BEEN IN THERE ONE TIME, IN 2022. Thankfully we have found another vet willing to take care of our baby. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I am including a screen shot as proof of the two times I spoke with them yesterday and at no point after looking up my pet did they say anything about not taking care of him. read more

I will always recommend NPVH to every pet owner I know. One of the main things that I believe sets them apart is their transparency on pricing. They will always consult you with all details and prices before preforming any procedure on your pet. They are not out to get you with any surprise costs. They will let you know what each procedure/medication will cost and get your consent before they perform it. Once my dogs nail wouldn't stop bleeding and I was going to schedule an emergency appointment but the front desk recommended other remedies and told me exactly what I would pay for an urgent appointment. Their advice worked and saved me a lot of extra $. Their front desk phone service is fantastic. I called several weeks ago to get a consultation on my dogs spay and they had a certified vet call me back to answer every question I had. They have always placed my dogs first and had my dogs best interest in mind. They're a huge supporter of local rescues. Everyone who works there is easy to work with and clearly loves animals. After owning pets for over 55 years and being to over a dozen different vets over the years this was absolutely the worst experience I've ever experienced. Doctor was rude, obnoxious and very egotistical and didn't hear a word I said. Brought my pet back to me in the most distress she has ever been in! Their motto is they treat your pet like their own if they treat their pets like they treated mine they shouldn't be allowed to have pets. Brought her in with a respiratory issue after over $500.00 dollars left with steroids, antibiotic, and medicine so she doesn't theow up. Haven't seen her throw up 3 times in 11 years and not in the last few years. But no medication for the issue I took her in for. I will tell everybody I know stay away from North Pole Animal Hospital if you love your pet! read more

I had a 10 day old kitten that had a bulging eye. I didn't think he would make it. I brought him in as soon as I saw (it looked AWFUL). I got an appointment same day. I got there early and the front desk staff was prompt and kind. The vet I saw went out of her way to help me and answer my questions and concerns. Most vets that I've worked with don't take neonatal kittens seriously, but she did. She gave me a topical antibiotic, artificial tears, and pain management medication. I followed her instructions and my kitten is now thriving. He lost his bulging eye, but otherwise he's a happy and healthy kitten. I'm so happy that he survived. Definitely will recommend this veterinary hospital to other pet owners that I know. read more

Definite 5-Star Review! Of course you always need vet care when you're 1000+ miles from home. We stopped in the office and was given an appointment within 2 hours. The staff and Dr. Brown were wonderful...professional, friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate. Whoever is running their phone is useless. Called 2x and after they took all of my information, I was told they could not help me with an assessment and Air Force required paperwork. Even though they have completed the form for other people on base.... Ok so I said I would keep looking and please take my information out of your system since you cannot help me... Less than 10 minutes they called me back asking them to send the form to take a look- I told them I would if I had time! Then, this morning I wake up to an email from them with my pets name. I've taken all four of my rescue cats here and have been pleased with their care. First, two of my cats had eye discharge and they explained what it was and gave me options. Two of my cats had well visits and were AOK. They identified a number of medical problems in one of my kitties and I stuck with them for all of that. The little one had dental surgery, which turned into hernia removal surgery which turned into a cardiology referral. This little kitty is bona fide inbred and was neglected before I got her, so it was nice to get her all fixed up, albeit a bit overwhelming at times. She had a really hard time healing from her surgeries and it was always really easy to get her in for follow-ups. Although unlike at a human doctor, you have to pay for all the follow-ups. Dr. Link wound up being our vet for all of those follow ups and he really grew on me while helping me find the right meds to help her heal. The cardiology experience was also smooth, with them conducting all of the testing there and sending it off for review. Although I spent all of my stimulus checks on this one little kitty, I'm happy how healthy she is now. The staff have always been friendly and genuinely caring. I like that for drop-off appointments you are taken to a room and have time with a vet tech to have your kitty checked out before leaving. Pick ups were also personal with a vet tech, so communication was great. I like that they are open 7 days a week; although I never went in on a weekend, I was able to schedule and reschedule on the weekend, which was handy. Their remodel is great and I appreciate the cat waiting area. I feel like all of the vets appreciate how special and important my cats are and they always have seemed happy to treat my cats. read more

Was misinformed 2 months ago about travel things needed. Now that I am a week away I am told I need appointments and that I yelled at the staff and there was nothing they could do. Well Dr. Dick you suck, I did not yell, don't stand there telling me you could hear me from the back over a husky whining it's excited whine like husky's do and that the owner of that husky didn't look at me like I was yelling or the other receptionists. Sorry your one receptionists got upset at a person being upset about being misinformed 2 months ago and we now leave in a week. People get upset after being told the wrong thing. I planned and called and got out ahead of it yet got screwed over. So again Dr. Dick you suck and to think you graduated from Purdue, close to where I grew up. And that you were in the military and so was I, your condescending self thinking you were right and better and looked down on me, or your receptionist was right without finding out what was said on my side, that's just great, thanks. And receptionist grow up and accept that people can be upset at being told wrong info and an upset voice is not yelling, trust me I could yell if you want me to, that is a much different tone and volume. Your new parking lot is terrible. There are vehicles on both sides of me and I cannot back up and leave unless I drive on your new seeded grass. I would recommend north pole veterinarian. We have been taking our two dogs there for two years now, and they're always so nice. One of our dogs had a lot of problems and they really took good care of him. All the veterinarians there are very nice. There's one lady that works the front desk, she is so helpful and so kind I love when I get to see her. As long as I live in Alaska I will take my dogs to this veterinarian. read more

You could not have made our experience any better. We brought Sassy in for a dental cleaning which would have required anesthesia and an expense that to be honest we would have paid but at this time would have been a strain on our budget, but before the procedure you had the surgeon assess her and it was determined that she didn't need to have her teeth cleaned at this time. Took my Madi there today after a fight with another dog, she was left alone in a kennel with no water and since she "wagged her tail" when they walked by they did not think it was necessary for them to check in on her. When I called to check her status a couple hours after they called with an estimate for care I was told she "had not been seen yet". I picked her up immediately (she had been there for 5 hours) and took her to get care somewhere else. Oh and FYI, we were in and out at the other guy in 30 mins and for 1/3 the price they quoted me. I had to put my guinea pig to sleep today and saw Dr Rogue (sp?). That woman has the wrong profession! It was hard enough for me to go through this but she made it even harder. My baby was screaming in pain! She used a very painful method,which I didn't know about until now. There would have been other ways to do this without my baby having to suffer in her last minutes. I live in the bush and occasionally fly my dogs in for care. I love this vet because they are amazingly accommodating, kind, thoughtful and they understand the difficulties of being a pet owner and a sled dog owner in the bush. They've boarded my dogs, picked them up at the airport, advised me over the phone and adapted when my plane was late. They know and remember my dogs, even though we are not there often. They work with me on finding a plan of care that fits my dogs' needs. One my dogs has been under their care for breast cancer for six years now. I can't praise them enough. read more
