North Shore Community Acupuncture is one of those places that you want to tell everyone about, but there is a part of you that wants to keep it all to yourself. Of the half dozen treatments I've had thus far - there *will* be more - each one has left me feeling markedly better than when I walked in. Stephanie is a gem. Not only is she lovely as a person, but she is also a master acupuncturist. She picks up on the nuances of you as a whole person, treating not only the obvious symptoms you may present, but digging deeper to the roots that make us who we are and how we feel. I started getting acupuncture at NSCA a few months ago and I absolutely love it. Despite the "community" aspect where you're getting treatment in a room with several other people, the environment is very relaxing. I have fibromyalgia and with the combined efforts of acupuncture and regular massages I have noticed a big difference. Not only that, but stress really exacerbates fibro pain and I have anxiety disorder. The few days following treatment I'm always so much more relaxed and my anxiety is virtually nonexistent. Thus far I have only received treatment from Elissa. She's wonderful and welcoming and I know I'm in good hands. She always makes sure that the needles went in relatively comfortably (I say relatively because pain is bad but itchiness is fine and sometimes they itch). And the pricing is phenomenal. I can afford to get as much treatment as I need and if money is ever a little tight, they take front desk volunteers in exchange for treatment. Overall this place truly cares about wellness and making sure good, reliable treatment is available to as many people as possible. Cannot recommend more. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. Stephanie is very through and expert. She listens intently to her patients and creates a plan custom tailored for your treatment. I am quite excited and awed by her ability to create significant changes in the body, pretty immediately, and over (a relatively short) time. I can't even perceive the needles in my body, they are that subtle and gentle! I also feel incredibly relaxed throughout the treatment. I've noticed changes in my conditions since beginning treatment a month ago. North Shore Community Acupuncture provides such a peaceful, harmonious physical environment as well; which is quiet and relaxing. A sliding scale is available for community treatment, too. I had a hard time making a move to a local practitioner since I was so devoted to my amazing Boston acupuncturists, but since moving, the commute was killing me. Fortunately I have found exquisite care here in the amazing acupuncturist Stephanie; and I feel so grateful that I have come to the right place and nestled right here in the North Shore, too. I started going to the community acupuncture clinic about 5 months ago because it was already at a place I frequented (Green Tea Yoga) and it was so affordable. I had always wanted to try acupuncture, so I decided to go, even though I didn't have anything in particular I wanted to work on. I can't echo the other reviews for North Shore Community Acupuncture enough. I've continued to go to acupuncture once every week or two since I started because it gives me such mental clarity; I always leave feeling relaxed, renergized, and healthy when I leave. As others have mentioned, Stephanie lets you stay for as long as you need; I have fallen asleep for close to an hour before, and have spent (at times) 30-40 minutes discussing my week with Stephanie before she inserts the needles so she knows exactly what I need on any given day. Only recently have I suffered a minor running injury (and therefore attend acupuncture with a specific goal in mind), and I find myself looking forward to acupuncture more than physical therapy. I have recommended community acupuncture to my friends and family, and now I recommend it to you. With a sliding scale that can be more affordable than many people spend on a co-pay for a doctor's office visit, you have nothing to lose but so much gain. read more

I am an Integrative Physician and this place is one of my healing sanctuaries. Need I say more? Sure. Easy to get an appointment. Staff is beyond wonderful. Stephanie is a gem and a true healer. Of note, If you've never had acupuncture, please ignore the "3 Star" review given because the reviewer found no relief in 3 sessions in 10 days. Pain is very complex and Acupuncture does not necessarily treat just "pain". It most certain can and does, however it is a much deeper healing art than just simply leaving you "pain free". I have years of experience with chronic pain and if I have an intense flare up, going to acupuncture 3 times in a week for a couple weeks is minimal. That's the beauty of Community Acupuncture. You can do this for a fraction of the price you might pay elsewhere. If you have a body, a mind, and a spirit then I HIGHLY recommend going here for a specific ailment of the requisite regular maintenance of being a human being. Starting with the intake session where so much thought and care were put into the plan, to the euphoric and relaxing sessions-it feel like I'm in such good hands and it's just what my body needs. I love it here! Both Stephanie and Adrian are wonderful at what they do, and show true caring and compassion to their clients. The studio itself is very clean, warm, and relaxing. The "community" aspect of treatment was something I'd never encountered before, but everyone is quiet and respectful of other's relaxation time. I have come here several time, my favorite acupuncturist is Elissa. I specifically make appointments with her to treat my tmj. It's not private sessions there are other people in the room, but it's very relaxing. Having other people in the room except for the occasional snorer it doesn't bother me. You can make appointments online which I prefer. Elissa is very welcoming and warm, I feel very well taken care of and she understands how much I suffer and eases that pain. Besides the tmj I have fibromyalgia so the needles really can hurt me but not as much as when Elissa does them. read more

This place is phenomenal. Elissa is a fantastic practitioner and each visit (3 so far) leaves me more impressed. The treatment area is friendly and relaxing, and the vibe is warm and welcoming. Plus, it smells nice! I'm not sure what the over all end result for me will be, but I have found it to be a wonderful respite that has me feeling rested and relaxed afterwards. In the interest delicacy, and in case someone is eating while reading Yelp reviews, I'll spare you the details on my ailment, and let you know that acupuncture was a lifesaver in my case. Stephanie creates an atmosphere that is totally relaxing and calming. Not all acupuncture is the same, just like chiropractic; you have to find the right person , and I know I've found a great practitioner at NSCA. I usually fall asleep or at least just chill out and listen to the music and the sound of ocean waves. That alone is worth the price of admission. Oh can can we get to the price part? Community acupuncture is the way to go. At these prices I can come in more often and maintain what I was looking for in the first place. I can't for the life of me figure out how tiny painless needles put here and there can help, but I assure you, just roll with the mystery. Acupuncture is truly mind blowing; it really helps. I have chronic lower back pain, to the point where some days I can't get out of bed or stand up straight. My legs will shake under me and the pain shoots down my legs and into my knees. In one week I had two sessions and my pain went from a 10 to a 4. I am kicking my self that I have waited this long to try acupuncture! I have seen Beth both times I have gone, she took detailed notes and insured me that no matter who I see they will be able to check her notes and know exactly what I need. She also calmed my nerves and answered all my first timer questions (p.s. It doesn't hurt at all!) The thing I really love the most about this place is that you can see how busy they are but when their attention is on you they have zero distractions! I also have severe depression and anxiety. The treatment takes 45 minutes but they always offer to let you stay a full hour. These 45/60 minutes are pure bliss. The music is perfect, the waves crashing clear my mind and I seriously can not give this place enough praise. If you've ever thought about getting acupuncture GO! This place is affordable and AMAZING! There's simply no reason to not try it! read more

NSCA can't be a better place! Stephanie is absolutely amazing and Elissa is great too! The price of the treatment is very good and the acupuncturists take their time to listen to you and they truly care and want to help you. I haven't met the other two members of the staff but I guess they are awesome as well. I have been suffering from body ache and migraines for a very long time and acupuncture has been the answer to me. I tried everything and nothing worked as well as acupuncture is working. If you are skeptical, just give it a try! You won't regret it! And this place is a sanctuary. I love going there. The atmosphere, the music and the light make it the perfect place to relax and rest while you are getting the treatment. I feel very good, relax and energized after going there too.
