It was intense, I couldn't sleep well because of the pain. And it was my right hand, so it was very hard no to use it! My wrist & hand were so swollen. It probably would've been labeled a carpal tunnel problem with PT recommended if I went to my primary care. Brittany knew exactly what to do- she couldn't work directly on the area because of the pain, so she worked in many other areas around my body (arm, ankle, leg, back of neck, shoulder, tricep) that would affect the painful area. She also did gua sha on my tricep & shoulder area. She knew the blocked area was more than just the hand. I couldn't believe it. I left pain free! I had been dealing with fertility issues for the last year, and was experiencing unbearable stress and anxiety. After just one visit with Kuan I felt the tightness in my chest going away and my anxiety disappearing. After just five visits I was pregnant. :) I continue to see Kuan every week. The experience is always very calming, and restful, and balancing. The office is always impeccably clean and welcoming. They have a huge selection of books in the waiting room that you can borrow on a weekly basis. They have bottled water. They have soothing relaxation music in all the rooms. The treatment beds are clean, comfortable, and heated. Kuan himself could not be any nicer or more accommodating. He starts each visit discussing your current state and makes adjustments to your treatment as necessary. Each acupuncture session also includes an acupressure massage (which is wonderful.) You don't have to be "into" every principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi, energy meridians, etc in order to feel the effectiveness of acupuncture. In fact, I started my visits as a pretty big skeptic. But whatever Kuan does, works! He helped relieve my stress and made me feel more balanced. And most importantly: he helped me get pregnant! I'm continuing to see him once a week and I look forward to every visit. My best friend has also started going to Tai Chi Acupuncture & Wellness Center and she also loves it. I usually call about an hour before I want to come in to use the sauna and it has never been a problem. They have nice music playing while you're in there and they provide towels and water for after you are done. For $30 (and packages available to lower the price) I definitely make this a go-to on a weekly basis and would recommend to anyone. I always feel so relaxed after 30 mins in the sauna and it is always a nice experience when I go there. Try out the infrared sauna--you won't regret it!

I got a cycle of accupuncture treatments from Bryn Clark and am in the middle of a set of Shiatsu massage treatments from Amy Mills. Both specialists are spectacular and these treatments have really helped me -- not just in the moment, or for a day or two, but as a set of learning experiences that are genuinely helping me set a course for healthy living free of back pain. Bryn not only understands and practices accupuncture super-skillfully; he is an educator-therapist with tremendously practical advice, much of which I have incorporated into my daily routines. (Like: doing cat-cows and child-poses before I get out of bed in the morning, to get the systems and fluids running before I ask my back to do anything semi-important. Magic.) Amy conducts her sessions like a composer and orchestra conductor. They are like a wonderful piece of music, complete with opening "exchange" with me (the audience -- or am I in the orchestra?), then running through variations that involve some tissue massage, some joint bending, some stretching, some fluid movement. She returns, towards the end, to the opening theme and wraps it all up, often leaving me with the same kind of practical idea about some aspect of movement or exercising that stays with me -- as was the case with Bryn. It's a pretty powerful combination. I likely sound a bit woo-woo, especially in the paragraph above -- but I want to underscore the useful practicality of these sessions for me, along with their impact on my well-being in the moment. I've enjoyed them a lot, will keep going back, and recommend these folks wholeheartedly.
